Sunscreen which sprays on WHITE is for me!

Forgot my bus pass when I went out just now, which resulted in lost time as I had to go back and get it. Successfully returned the sunscreen... I should get Banana Boat SPF 60 for Kids, which sprays on WHITE (and smells better) next time! Bought that, two bottles of iced tea, and some Deomacica chocolate tea biscuits (for Bible Study sharing purposes tomorrow night) - it was cheaper for more stuff than the crispbreads in the same aisle! SO ASIAN, haha!

Got home to a comment from Teunis about Sunday's BBQ - I take it that Robin finally reminded him about it after I asked HIM to do me a favor, heh. Anyhow, Teunis says that he and Jordan (maybe?) can probably make it to the BBQ (got Eric's address from a BootyBase document), so I've emailed Eric a reminder about their health / allergy concerns... and have said that I'll probably be calling him from the church tomorrow unless I forget. Kevin's replied to Cindy's birthday wishes to say thanks - I wrote birthday cards for him, Eric, and Cindy prior to showering / talking to Corey / Blogger editing work.

I don't think the Booty Logo is appropriate for little kids!

Bingos of the night:

GREENLET (70 points) - against Danny M.
URIDINES (70 points) - against Rose G.

Had to borrow money from Chrystal to subsidize my Pho dinner - AIYA! After I talked to her, I discussed the Trout Lake barbecue with Christon... the rainy weather could be a factor in the turnout, for sure. Talked to Raymond about Scrabble, to Dylan and Johnny about their new jobs and the commute, and joked with Jeremy / Calla / others about Korean girls and how they don't want to date firstborn sons. (these sons will eventually have to take care of their mothers, hahaha)

Noticed someone was quite quiet, but I figured something had happened to him which he didn't want to talk about. (jfkl;jsdlk;f;sidf;;sdoiuwoieru) Dylan reminded us verbally about next Monday's committee meeting, heh. Saw Mike, Stanley, Chris (got back Wednesday!) and THE HAIR, Ivan, Sam, Lucas, and others. Discussed Oscar's Café, Calla being okay to drive, Chrystal getting home, actions speaking way louder than words, doing Fellowship stuff at work, Stanley's Tostitos, Teresa's questions about the new church building, being fashionably late, Jeremy leaving early, and more.

I remembered meeting Ryan and Alison at Sui Sha Ya - the Booty Logo would NOT have been appropriate for their son! Steph said she had to find the April-May-June birthday cards, and said that a sense of propriety didn't stop me from drawing the Booty Logo at Montana's last September! Then we reminisced about the first time I ever drew the Booty Logo - Dawn's brother Geoffrey was 10 or younger when that happened! Jon called to say that he was in the White Spot on Lougheed after the BBQ: we guess it got dark! (23 or 24 people did turn out for it)

Steph remarked that Vivian S. visited last week when she was sick, and we discussed family memories in general revolving around Dawn suddenly waking up in our house when her baby brother came into the world. (he's TALL now!) Also talked about hockey playoff stats, basketball, phone calls, Eric's Redmond interview next Friday (hint / clue!), interview questions, turning weaknesses into strengths, recruiters, Human Resources, amusing ourselves, bugging your friends' younger siblings by putting on lame accents ("Hey, Jess... HOW'S IT GOING?!"), and more. Good times!

For those of you wondering why this post is timestamped at 4:01 AM, I did go to bed before midnight. I woke up because of a combination of a disturbing dream involving the bathroom tradition (don't ask - you DO NOT want to know!), and not being able to sleep. Man, I should have had minty help... and why do I have a Christmas song in my head now?! (DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?)

Hey, Michael... baby Allison doesn't like your voice!

Before I left this morning, I noted that Phil had found Alan Pang on Facebook - he knows Myles and Dorcas from somewhere, possibly the Vancouver Alliance church. I added him when I got home ("Jon's sister!"), and he's just added me back. On the way to church, my mom and sister discussed the latest in the SING TAO DAILY newspaper: Edison Chen's naked pictures scandal (why keep it on your laptop?! ... he actually went to my junior high - I was too old to have known him then; phew!), and Fei-Fei's death from liver cancer. (like Uncle Sam's mom) Why publish certain pictures like the ex-husband and his new wife? She was connected to Alfred Sung, and my grandma's hairdresser is going to her funeral in Shanghai. ("it's expensive, so it must be good!") Sure, sure... discussed shark's fin soup, going out for Big G's birthday on Saturday or Sunday night, just cutting off the fin and dumping the shark back into the water to die, "expensive cuts of meat," the 100-Mile Diet, nutritional value, and more.

We also talked about how Grandma favors boys, and always tells my sister that they can't eat dinner yet since Jon's not home. Like it matters?! Mom says that there are lots of Chinese women with a Chinese name meaning "bringing little brothers," and told us a story about a guy who was so mad when his wife delivered a THIRD daughter that he just stalked out of the hospital - Chinese men! It's THEIR chromosomes and NOT the women's! (just like Henry VIII and his desire for a son - killed his wives or divorced them!) Mom also thinks that Grandma shouldn't make a big deal about the ONE time she paid for Jer's lunch at Pho six months back - for sure! (as Steph said: "if she loves Flime so much, she should also love his friend!") We told Mom that Grandma might be confused by Jeremy's mustache, haha. Eric has the full beard now, so we'll see what she has to say!

At church, I talked to Raymond about donations on Facebook / the small group Evite and outing plans / going out to dinner with his parents. He wondered if Vivian would be okay after Bams' death - I certainly hope so, because she seemed quite upset! Not sure why I never got the 3 AM email Steph sent out to everyone on her Evite list, but that boxer was well-loved. At least Viv's parents are back now so they can grieve together! Waved hi to Jeremy, Winnie, Megan, Danielle, Cindy, Margaret, both Nathans (Nathan T. still looked rested - GOOD!), Joey, Martin, and others. Gave Martin his birthday card after service: he thanked me twice, and wondered how I knew about his birthday. I told him that I had access to the Fellowship directory because I don't think he knows yet that I have a good memory in general for birthdays, haha! Learned that Phil's applied for the position of youth pastor at our church - yay! (Steph gave away her anniversary lunch ticket to Danielle, and then it went to her cousin Kevin!) Mom says that Phil wants to start a family within the next couple of years - wow!

Went outside to the parking lot, where I noticed something that looked like my pink snap-button hat from my pink jacket. It was lying on the ground next to some grass and the big garbage bin. I drew Jeremy's attention to it (since we were talking about stuff anyway), and mused about picking it up. While I was saying hi to Kevin and Fabian, Melia came over and wondered if that item was mine. It was, but I had been nowhere near that area this weekend! Jeremy surmised that perhaps it had come off last weekend, and I hadn't noticed it missing. I had, but thought it was somewhere at my place! Mike T. and Emily came over and convinced me to pick it up and wash it - eh, it gave me a good excuse to ask my mom to wash my entire jacket! (which she will) Wondered about my pants with the hole in them - Grace couldn't sew patches (but natural seams), and Steph said that Mom could do it. (I asked Auntie Fonda to ask Rachel's grandma to take some load off my poor mother, heh - I'll have to remember to wash it next week since I put my dirty hat in that bag!)

Waved to Brian, and saw his sister Julie M. - she's going back to Edmonton today, so it was a good thing I had a birthday card to give her! I interacted with my friends' kids for a while before going to Sunday School. Keenan seemed to like my blue beret since he wanted to touch it. That was much better than Gwyneth asking me later what that thing on my head was, and then laughing at it! My sister thinks that she just doesn't know how to express herself - probably that's it! Olivia, Nicholas (with Cheerios), Nathaniel, and Joshua (with Rice Krispie squares) were looking for bugs near the ramp. Two people named Auntie Helen might be too much for Olivia and Nathaniel to process, haha. Anita joked that her baby Allison didn't like Michael K.'s voice since she'd heard it yesterday and fell asleep - same thing today, haha. ("she won't let me put her hand inside the carrier blanket!") Mike was trying to teach her things she wouldn't need to know at 2.5 months of age, haha.

Told Vanessa, Steph, and Danielle about the dream where I pummelled the sleazeball in the face - how shocking, but I guess I must subconsciously love my sister! After Sunday School, I interacted with the kids in the basement. Hien was trying out William's crutches, and someone asked her what had happened! I told William that Auntie Kam had asked me the same question when I'd been holding Darren's crutches a couple of summers ago! Haha, confusion reigns! Chrystal offered me a decorated cookie, Rich was trying to offload a bunch of Oreos, and I gave Nathan W. a jelly stick later when I went upstairs. Said hi to Hannah T. and Noah, bantered with Bob / Heyman / Johnny, warned Hannah W. / Natalie / Julie C. to be careful, and dodged Hannah S. and Amanda. Went upstairs and said hi to Joanna K. and Michelle C. - Michelle had sprained her arm while playing basketball, oops.

Discussed driving to the Royal Ascot (why?!), global warming, walking, Dylan, reading, the Bible, liturgy, a "final exam" on 1 Corinthians, Fred leaving for San Francisco, beer, and other things with Sam / Christon / Jon / Jeremy / Steph (working on a messed-up situation at work) / Eric. Hugged Danielle goodbye - of course she misses Citrus, who's away at boot camp since he's in the reserves. ("Hey, I lost TEN pounds!") Eric wondered whether I was going with my family for lunch since he did have Windows XP with him. I was (gotta save money and stuff :P), and we've just made plans via MSN: he'll call me tomorrow to see what's up. (must finish BootyBase work TONIGHT!) Went to Mui's lunch - Mom mixed up prenatal counseling and premarital counseling, oh dear! Steph remembers that she liked pennies ("yellow money!") in preschool, heh. Also discussed the pain of giving birth, breathing in and out / forgetfulness, Lamaze, having certain people inside the delivery room, and other related things. At least I got a decent amount of sleep last night! Steph sarcastically noted that I should eat NOODLES instead of rice for lunch (which I didn't have anyhow) - don't worry, I know how to keep Grandma happy! :P

The dinner's cancelled because of a death!

The World's Greatest Collection of Funny Facebook Status Messages - HAHAHA! I also like working in morbid references in conversation: I've recently done that with Countess Elizabeth Bathory, plus Burke and Hare! YAY! :D (these were in two separate conversation with the same person, hehe)

True to form, my browser keeps disappearing. If I could talk to Corey, he'd say that I should get Eric to install Windows XP already. Good idea, except I'm not done with my BootyBase files. Must work on that next week! Maybe I'll talk to Corey tomorrow on Feast Day since my Sunday doesn't LOOK very busy... *hmm*

Ada picked me up, and said that her son Ian is sick. We discussed allergy shots, the improving sunny weather over the past few days, the Veggie Tales movie AND dinner (Ian termed it "a lucky night!" - cute kiddy thinking!), Chinese doctors, herbal medicine, wanting to throw up whenever you tasted the vile black concoctions prescribed by herbalists, and getting sick every February. At Awana, I talked to Melia about the leadership dinner tonight of pizza: she totally understood that I needed to leave with my ride.

She also mentioned something about Steph's party tonight getting cancelled because Viv's dog Bams had died suddenly of a seizure while out on a walk. Steph wants to be with her, of course... and it just sucks! =/ Good thing Melia told me, because when I got a free moment to call Steph later to confirm this, SHE said that she'd sent an email last night which I never got! Anita stopped by briefly to show off Allison to people - the baby was awake for a bit, then fell asleep.

Talked to Andrew about a family dinner and his new hairstyle, bantered with Mike, wished Meg a happy tenth birthday, and sympathized with Samantha when she said going up and down the stairs a lot was tiring. I admired Jordan's cool drawing, told Matthew that wipes had soap in them to wash your hands (he LOVED the bubbles!), and shared in the discovery of a pad of achievement slips - so we AREN'T supposed to photocopy them! Also let Jason and Amos use my calculator while Danny told them that he did private math tutoring for free, and tried to smell Andrew's raspberry cooler breath which Golden said was gross. I couldn't smell anything, so perhaps that was just as well.

The guys gave me a cute blue CLASSY Beanie Baby from the store, which was sweet. That makes me think of the missed opportunity I had last year with the plastic Livestrong bracelets knock-offs that said LOVE, FRIENDSHIP, and other things! Told Benedict to move since he was blocking my view of the scores - he told Martin to do so as well. Now that I'm home, I see that Raymond sent me an Evite to next week's small group outing - hmm, okay! I'm getting into the candygrams that my sister gave me last week: cinnamon hearts, striped Hershey's Kisses, and heart gummies! No, this is not my dinner. :P

This is where I say what I really think...

Okay, I've been thinking sad things too much today. I KNOW THIS. However, it doesn't look like there's a way out of the current situation since I'm really hurt by this! To borrow a phrase: It's like someone stabbed me in the back, blamed me for being stabbed, and then had someone else repeatedly poke at the wound.

Nothing's ever overnight, and I am NOT afraid of being different. I won't feel bad for being myself, at all. Some things do take two people. Time to do BootyBase work, and keep my mind off things. I finished the birthdays a few days ago, so that's progress! What I'd like the most right now is for people to leave me alone - I know why they keep trying even though I push them away, however.

Ah, the latest posts page... such a goldmine!

Dream of a gunpowder conflagration and green paper butterflies!

I got a weird phone call from Michigan: 616-980-2604, anyone? Probably a scammer! In other news, Sara W. (sparkle_bint) added me to Facebook - yay! The Internet wasn't working for a bit earlier today, so I went out for a while. I got home to start the laundry and resolved to work on my BootyBase / reports because that isn't dependent on a connection, but the Internet was working again. One of these days... *sigh*

Had a weird dream which involved a gunpowder wire being placed near a church, and I was the only one who knew about it. The person who had placed it there had committed suicide by jumping in the nearby deep river. So I enlisted several people's help, since the fuse was due to go off at any time - we eventually told everyone to get out of the church since it was going to blow. Everyone did except one poor person who didn't get the message... the church blew up a few minutes later, with lovely pyrotechnics and sparks. It was definitely an emotional time, of course... especially since we'd lost a member in the conflagration.

Then we were transported to another church, where it was Christmastime. The ushers (including Mei Lin) gave us boxes of felts, crayons, green paper, and paints to express ourselves artistically during service. I helped the kids draw some very weird things, then two of the people in service started chasing each other into the Granville Island-like market next door. They ran up several levels of stairs, up a few ladders, and finally burst into a room where some of the kids were doing crafts on a table.

Then the two people killed each other in front of the kids, and then turned into a paper butterfly and a crumpled piece of green paper. Phil and Melia arrived afterwards (in thick winter wear), and wondered what had happened. After we told them, we mourned the death of the one who had become a green paper butterfly. The dream ended after we buried the green paper butterfly under a special tree, and after we buried the crumpled paper under a bench outside the market. No matter what we thought of the crumpled paper, we knew that he deserved the sacrament of burial!

Hmm. Possible triggers:

* saying hi to Mei Lin, who was ushering on Sunday
* talking to both Phil and Melia this past weekend
* seeing Jeremy folding his bulletin when he got "bored" ((I had to tease him about that!)
* seeing the kids drawing stuff on paper at the Marr residence on Saturday
* seeing the multicolored paper in the church photocopy room on Saturday
* giving out several boxes of felts and coloring material to the Awana kids on Saturday

No idea where the gunpowder and chase bits came in, though!

Rides, surprise pokes, and Shabusen / 2007 Shame, Embarrassment, Lies

Ivan left me a Facebook message saying he could drive me on Friday, and will give me a call beforehand! Told my sibs, and maybe I should tell Vanessa too. Surprise of the moment: my old friend Elizabeth found me on Facebook, and poked me! Oh my. Speaking of Facebook, Erin has made Saturday's lunch into an event on there - of course I'll go! I've missed Erin, Darren, and Chris a lot! Now I'm off to do some long-overdue BootyBase upkeep... YIKES!

Tiramisu, honeydew egg tarts, tripe, and fryer turkeys!

Jon found out that my pens didn't work because of the cold / angle, but I made him sign cards anyhow - I also made Steph do that while we were eating Pho for lunch. We talked about the Canucks-Penguins game, blowing snow, hospitals, $100 to cover drinks (double rum and coke?), death and babies, weird music, and Christmas parties. Told Steph that she forgot the flaming hot Cheetos, but she can give them to me on Friday - EARLS EVITE! Christon "Get your Christ on!" is leading worship next week, along with Eric / Margaret and Stanley as fixtures every week (like Jon used to do before Gr. 12 and parental directives NOT to do that) / others. Erin, Chris, and Darren are organizing a Shabusen lunch on the 22nd - Jon's teaching, so it sucks that he can't be there. (Darren will be picked up on the 16th from Seattle, the day after Erin gets back) Rachel gets back soon, as does Kate - grousing about speeding tickets by saying that the cops should be focusing on things like murder is NOT gonna help, girl!

When I got to church, Raymond said that he'd gotten my tiramisu via Facebook - throwing things at people is FUN, man! Hehe. Talked to Auntie Esther, who says Wesley is coming back on the 17th and Chris is getting back on the 20th. Winnie came with her daughter Megan, who gave people her stickers - she took mine and Danielle's back, however. Danielle and I shared an understanding look when that happened, heh. Dianne thanked me for the Christmas card - she thought the colors were so sweet, and the Nativity scene drawing was very cute! Margaret and Sam's brother Jeremy had an amusing announcement about care packages: "Remember, school is Biblically useless!" Haha. Everyone let out a gasp when Pastor John announced that Billy and Stella had had a son this morning - only one day after Jeff and Anita's daughter! After service, I said hi to White Guy #2 - Ray had been amused when we told him about the hierarchy of white guys on Friday, haha.

Went outside via the back door since the ramp was icy, and talked to the babies - Keenan looked so cute in his court jester hat! Talked to his dad Tim while Lee gave the baby a birthday present, and the baby seemed interested in my Santa hat and my blue scarf. Hannah, Megan, and others were decorating Grace with happy face stickers while Jen asked me about what she'd seen on Facebook. Told her, Karen Lew, Martin, and Raymond the abbreviated story - that led to a discussion of control and strong people in relationships. Yeah, they'd found Eric's advice to K quite amusing, haha. Phil came up to us and said that the kids were so cute - they were, and now we have enough of them to do a baby calendar! Perhaps a seasonal one for the church building fund... pumpkins, Christmas, spring / summer scenes... it would be a good idea! (Benjamin, his new brother, Anita's kid, Megan, her new sibling in March, Hannah, Olivia, Anne, Joshua, Keenan, Frances' kid when it comes in February, Ian, Gabriel, Nathaniel, Abigail, Nicholas...)

Gave Vanessa some money, which I emphasized wasn't for her - she joked that Daniel had stolen it a minute later. Stayed outside until everyone had left for Sunday School, and went to help the toddlers. Frances and I agreed that it was thoughtful when Rich and Olivia came in with care packages for us from Timothy - card, candy cane, and assorted candy / cookies / granola bars. (I've eaten it all by now, including some chocolate!) Afterwards, I went out to the basement, where Eric joked that I'd be causing trouble with the toddlers - I don't THINK so! Said hi to Vivian and refused Nathan's request for candy. Natalie said that she had some, but it was unfortunately for their dad! Went outside, where we told Jeremy to watch out for grandmas behind him if he was going to slap Stanley!

Gave Christmas cards to Eric and Jeremy: Eric mock-complained that Jeremy's was bigger than his, so Jeremy said that maybe I'd written smaller in Eric's! Eric's response was funny: "Leslie writing small?! Never! She always writes large, and on a slant!" Too true, unfortunately! Talked to Sam (ski trip?), Ivan, Jeremy x2, J-Mak (HONG KONG!), Christon, and others. Eventually, our family went to Pho with Jeremy. Discussed star anise, Mom's cookbook recipes, freaked-out cats, not taking up a whole row of seats, Pho being seemingly out of tripe, onions, hot sauce, Calla's idea for the next Sunday Dinner (breakfast foods and mixed drinks go together for next week - NOT?!), chili oil, turkey in a fryer at Earls, strawberry / honeydew-flavored egg tarts in New York (Jeremy: "New York has EVERYTHING!"), Boston, our surprise that Mom knew the word "reciprocate," etc. My sibs drove me home, and we saw Quan / Joyce at the bus stop near church. We tried yelling at them from our car, but they couldn't hear us - we picked them up at the bus stop instead to drive them home since it was kinda on the way. Talked about work, dishes, chefs, Joey's dad cooking for Joyce sometimes, pasta, instant noodles, steak (flip it in the pan), introducing Joyce to the Booty Logo verbally, the Giants-Blazers game, Vivian's imitation of Tina Turner, Ray, Nathan, sleeping, doing homework, weddings, Harmony getting back on the 30th, etc. Good times, for sure! I'm glad I'm happier now, too. :D

Of course your breath shows up since it's warmer than the COLD air!

Andrea started a Gmail chat session with me this afternoon, but she thought I was Karen Choo or Karen Lew for some reason - heh, mistakes happen! Just after I called Eric to determine where he was (on his way, and he'd been navigating his contact list when I called), Korey returned a call I'd placed early in the afternoon. He was surprised that I was still home, and said that Eric and I would be late - true, but there wasn't much we could do about it at 7:25! On the way to Fellowship, Eric said that I'd cause craziness during the Fellowship program and that I was a troublemaker - I don't think so! He thought our family birthday dinner for Jon was a bit early; I wasn't available on Tuesday, Steph went to the States on Thursday (and was surprisingly home at 11:15 since they got tired of shopping - we'd just heard a news report where the border wait northbound was 2.5 to 3 hours!), Friday was Fellowship, and I have the Awana Leader Dinner on Saturday. Anything earlier than Tuesday would have been ridiculous since his birthday's on Sunday, haha! Eric went to Pilgrims to get birthday cards while fielding calls from Dylan as he was driving, but the store was actually CLOSED before 8 despite what it stated on their webpage about Friday's closing hour being 9! Remarked on Beefway Meats - I remember passing there every Awana Saturday to pick up Jordan in 2001-2002! Got to church and waved hi to Vivian while greeting Calla.

There was black forest cake for Pastor John's birthday / welcome, so almost everyone partook of some. Jeremy said he didn't want a huge piece which went to me, since he'd had a large #29 stew from Pho as his dinner - I should try that one of these days! The large bowls are filling; when you add the "stew" part to it, that certainly seems like a huge enough dinner even for one whose metabolism burns pretty quickly! Asked him about the brainstorm ingredients for Sunday, and said that Dylan didn't want to go once he saw those since he thinks the meat dish will involve haggis. Jeremy said that some of the curry ingredients would be hard to find (like tamarind), especially since it wasn't going to be made from curry powder! Dylan happened by just at that juncture, and reiterated that he'd already told me how he felt about those ideas - NO RAW DOG, PLEASE! (although Jon really does want haggis - AIYA!) Jeremy said that they were mainly joking, even with the bitter melon cheesecake - Calla said that she probably won't go because of working in the field. (wells at Granville / 41st?) I remembered how Jon had told Steph that it would look weird if she didn't go (she usually never goes to these things), and Calla joked that Steph had been commanded to go. Hahaha, maybe. Went to the bathroom later and encountered Andrea L. there, so we talked briefly - she's looking forward to Christmas, for sure! (too busy with school)

The Nehemiah JEOPARDY game was interesting and sorta competitive, haha. Alan said that we'd won, and that was all that counted... Jeremy was preoccupied with the Dung Gate, and wondered what Bill Clinton's scandal had been called. ("the scandals all end with GATE like Watergate does!") Later, I talked to Raymond about the First Baptist Church and cooking food - gotta wear your glasses to keep from crying if you peel onions! We discussed Eric / Shanghai Wind / upscale stuff vs. hole-in-the-wall atmosphere / Facebook briefly, and he's added me on there already - sweet! I flagged down Karen Choo to ask how she was: we'll figure out something when she looks at her schedule - she feels bad that I have to travel that far and not have a ride back since she's rushing between appointments and such, but I do have to do some mall shopping anyhow! Talked briefly to Cindy and Dianne about turkey / tryptophan / cheddar cheese, then went upstairs to see what was going on. Christon said that my brother was there, and I saw him in his "Reese's Pieces" toque - nice description, Vanessa! I perhaps will wear my Santa hat on Sunday, though it's not quite December yet - oh well, it's not like a house on 41st with a huge Christmas Santa / snowman display out already as of earlier in the week! Talked to Isabel and Emily, answered Danielle's inquiry as to how it was going, stopped Stanley from sneaking up on a napping Jessica with his guitar, told Daniel and others that there was half a cake downstairs in the kitchen (Vivian did it first), and told Jason W. that I might attend the dinner tomorrow. (of course we'll go to Awana, but aren't sure about the dinner!)

Went back downstairs to see Vanessa taking pictures of cake-eating Sam, Joey, Ivan, and Daniel. Sam seriously looked like he had dental problems because of the red cherry jelly filling! I said hi to Angus, who said that he needed a personal assistant because he always responded to Facebook wall posts in his head, but not on the person's actual wall. Vanessa thought that was amusing! Nathan told Jon about the wall comment he posted on Harmony's: "Hi, Harmony! When are you coming to Vancouver to visit? I hear Jon crying in the night - he's SUFFERING without you here!" Jon laughed at that, and I told him that speaking of such, I'd shown her the Booty Logo in photo form - she'd told him, and he thinks I get maniacal and not just gleeful when I draw it. Haha, it's my prerogative! Asked Sam if he were going to McDonalds with Mike and whoever else, but he was unsure. Saw Juliana in the kitchen, so said hi briefly. Rich reminded us that it was 10:30 and we had to leave - it's too cold to loiter outside, but that's what we have to do! Jeremy and Calla were discussing methane and heating the athletes' village at the Olympics, as well as landfills and such. (the church construction site is crazy with sewage pipes, apparently!) Pastor John says that his wife Karmie and daughter Hannah would like the leftover cake, but his son Josiah won't since he seems to like chips better as snacks even if he's not a snack person in general. (the kid will be healthier, for sure!)

I went outside after a bit to discover Sam saying that he couldn't get over the fact that his breath actually showed up in the cold winter air... well, the COLD air beats your warm breath! After discussing snowboarding vs, skiing and wiping out (night skiing - drivers?!), Vanessa asked Ivan for a proper scientific explanation, which we artsy types dismissed as not important - maybe globalization and such would be better, at least according to Jon! He mentioned something about a vegetarian restaurant lunch, and assumed that Eric / Nathan / I would go since we never really respond to the Sunday dinner invites. (he can at least count on us even though there should be some others at Jeremy's to help cook and eat...) On the way home, we talked about steamy windows / being dorks / Eric's frustrating radio / St. Louis / Kieran being home for US Thanksgiving / chilling / prepaying for gas / cigarettes from $5.99 / my being relegated to the backseat / Dallas probably being at Jeremy's for that dinner / my having Dallas' kimchi dishes since August / the ESC Christmas Celebration on December 21 / snacks. Good times, for sure!

The Booty Logo has made an appearance on Facebook!

Hey, I got a Christmas card and stickers from Sheryll! (sheryll) Way cool! That reminds me, I have to write a pile of cards to be sent out - maybe after I post this entry. *aiya*

Talked to Farrah, Corey, and Talia yesterday about LJ logging me out, icons, Jeremy's "and yo!" red T-shirt, smiling when I thought of the snow around Jeremy's place AND about his just taking chips out of my Doritos bag at the Ministry Fair (I didn't mind at all since that's a comfortable kind of friendly love!), English grammar / pronunciation, and clouds looking like the Death Star outside a window. At least it's the moon's reflective surface, and not anything really sinister! When Jon called to say that he'd just left the house, I misheard "I just left" as "Are you dressed?" YIKES! (he'd HOPE that I was dressed, haha) Jon picked me up before 5:40, and we proceeded to amuse ourselves by asking Grandma if she liked his drumming on the steering wheel and dancing around. We tried convincing her that it was fun to play around, but she definitely would prefer that he do it at home instead of in the car even while at a stoplight! Jon derived great satisfaction from legally being in the HOV lane (I don't think we'd do it illegally), and bypassing all the suckers in a long lineup waiting in traffic to get onto the bridge! We listened to a bit of the Minnesota hockey game (Vancouver eventually won 4-2, and Markus Naslund had a HAT TRICK!), and discussed what he'd done today: Mom got him to pay for lunch while Dad was at a funeral (for some CSC guy who got run over by a car), and he went to a chocolate place because he wants to buy some for Harmony.

At Crave, Grandma didn't like the fact that Jon parked on a side street since it was pretty dark. Well, there was no room in front of the restaurant! We made the mistake of almost passing Sun Sui Wah (Chinese seafood place), so she thought that we were going THERE for dinner... nope! She was also less than impressed with the fact that a table which was seated after us got their water and drinks when we hadn't had any yet - that was entirely due to Jon being polite and telling the waiter that we'd wait for the rest of our party to arrive. (we were seated in a former garage which was converted to a heated patio when the owners realized how popular the restaurant was) It took our parents an hour to get to the restaurant because of all the traffic! We had rigatoni, Okanagan Springs Pale Ale, crab cakes, salad, poutine with foie gras mayonnaise, organic beef burgers, and more. Jon was joking about getting a New York steak with truffle fries, but didn't. Discussed Harmony's Caribbean cruise, Jason adding me to Facebook (I just added Dallas and Jessica Leung!), Steph yelling descriptions of the Booty Logo across the room in typical family fashion when Jon was on the phone with Harmony (he doesn't know how THAT conversation got started!), Jeremy at prayer meeting, the Sunday birthday dinner (it'll be weird if Steph's not there), the Leadership Retreat on Saturday, the Awana Leader Dinner on Saturday night, Steph's Stateside trip (must inform Eric of Steph's absence tomorrow), Dylan, Karen, being tired, girlfriend murdering people, hockey, and other things. I just posted the Booty Logo to Harmony's wall - whoops. ;)

Got home and found that Karen had called me twice in the span of a few minutes - I'll call her back tonight! I also had an interesting conversation with K's friend Cory when K had gone walkabout. It's been quite some time since I talked to other people taking over my friends' IM accounts! Ah, capital letters and coherency are a definite plus! It was enjoyable, and I hope to do that again. He seems like an interesting guy and of course doesn't want to see K hurt - I can understand that. Someone also thinks that I have twisted pineapple fantasies, hahaha. Very weird conversations with that guy, but ultimately worth it because of laughter and such. Having people around who make you feel good about yourself is excellent, indeed. :D

Is the Booty Logo and anus REALLY appropriate discussion?!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, CANADIANS!

Thanksgiving lunch was amusing, even if Jon thought the conspirators from last year would almost all be there. (oh, shush!) Mom wanted us to call Randal since my sibs told him the wrong time yesterday, but we didn't. Despite our telling Vivian and Eric NOT to bring anything, they did - BAD FRIENDS WHO ARE NOT WELL-TRAINED, haha! She mentioned star anise, which reminded me of Jasmine. Then Jon brought up the Sunday dinner at Christon's where we told him that the last person to sit down would pray - he wasn't too impressed since HE was the last person because he was serving food! Somehow, Nathan's infamous comment about wives made it into OUR conversation (just in passing) - as I said, that brought us to a new low, one which we hoped never to experience again! The comment WAS very Nathan-esque in nature; Jon thought the first-years would be scared off by it, but Julie seemed to think it was at least amusing! We watched football, told Eric that I owed him a lunch / dinner since he did so much work on my computer the last couple of weeks, talked about church things, brought up Chinese food / turkey-chicken-duck / deep-fried Southern turkey / veggie burgers, tofurkey (BAD REVIEWS!) / the dinner at the HoHoHo house tonight, discovered that Randal and Steph both know Emily Chow's friend Melody C., tried getting Vivian to speak the Chinese that my sister taught her (with limited success), and had an interesting tangent about eating dogs / cats / cockroaches / rabbit. (I know Ty ate young dog when he was in China - he seemed to think it tasted good, as did my mom before she found out what it was she'd just eaten! Let's just say Grandma tricked her - she never really ate the old cat!) Half a free-range turkey with cranberry sauce / stuffing / potatoes / yams / corn / ice wine / Jeremy's Scotch ale was quite enough!

Then there was the conversational thread about really old men being attracted to younger women - old men keep trying to hit on my sister at the gym ("nice work!" "...."), and she once received a present of Manchester United stuff from a 70-year-old guy at work! EW! "From a friend who's a secret admirer," indeed! Mom brought up the news story of the 73-year-old married guy who had an affair with a 21-year-old massage therapist in Hong Kong: he ended up strangling her when she asked for too much money, then committed suicide by jumping out a window. Vivian didn't like the story of my mom's co-worker who keeps her dog pregnant pretty much all the time so she can sell the puppies for travel monies. We wondered how long a dog's gestation was, but Eric wasn't helpful. I changed the desktop on my mom's computer to the Booty Logo Resurrection, which got the expected reaction from her ("ugh!") - haha. After Vivian and Randal saw it, I changed it back to the Kandoo frog. Randal had seen that before, haha. I thought it was VERY fitting for our family! However, Mom got her chance to shine when she presented us with a mooncake shaped like a pig: she mispronounced "anus," and came up with the idea of raisins as "droppings." We were trying to tell her that this wasn't exactly a family-oriented discussion, but she was having too much fun. There are pictures, which my sister should upload later!

After the company left (Viv had to go to a group meeting - she wished she could stay here instead), my siblings lifted Mom up into the air with some resistance - man, we should get an action shot of that one of these days! I also checked Facebook, and discovered that Sanne and Chesh had friended me on there - sweet! Left Darren a comment about his message to Jon, which involved only being able to finish half a beer. Jon laughed at his terming that "an improvement," which I expected. Also left an encouraging message to someone who needed it - yay! I *do* appreciate the good things, y'know. ;) Time to answer emails now!

My mom and brother both saw this picture:
Jon thought it was gross, because he's seen the Rejected movie, and my mom initially thought it was cute until I told her what it was. "It's one guy bashing the other guy with his own ripped-out stomach!" Hahaha. It's what you get for telling me that you're "rehearsing" a fart, even if you mean "releasing!"

Being anti-social can be amusing!

Christon's house has literally THOUSANDS of trinkets because they stuff hundreds of things in all the rooms - Jon says that it's enough to keep a Chinese village employed in making them! His parents collect them, and they were away on a cruise. (his mom's in a wheelchair and so has a ramp at the front of the house) I told people how I had accidentally slapped Dylan in the face after the AGM; he commented that it had been years since he'd been slapped by a girl, and of course accepted my profuse apologies. I joked that he could get more of the treatment with my brother or me slapping him on both sides simultaneously, but he definitely wasn't up for that! Not that we'd deliberately or maliciously do so, of course - we LOVE Dylan, as quirky as he may be sometimes! Haha. Before dinner, Julie called her mom and said that she was with a bunch of church people including "two gwei loh... Ivan told me to call them that!" Haha, that was amusing. They were watching DANCING WITH THE STARS on MuchMusic, or maybe it was SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. I was in the other room, so couldn't say for sure. Someone said that Darren's parents didn't want him to come home for Christmas because of the cost of the plane ticket from Ireland - sounds like what they'd say, all right! (they're... frugal, for want of a better word that isn't "cheap" :P)

It was certainly a very crowded table: Citrus, Christon, Jon, Eric, Jeremy, Isabel, Ivan (who didn't end up bringing his family after all), Mike, Julie, Nathan, and I had amusing discussions! Jeremy had wanted to look up the weight of an uncooked cup of rice - since I was on the Internet, that automatically means I'm the fount of all knowledge! Hahaha, that's a good one. (not actually what he said, but it was along those lines) I marveled that my email messages all fit on one screen now after deleting a bunch of spam and reading some others - it was at 76 when I started checking stuff on Saturday! Nathan jokingly decided that his future kids would be named Heroin, Cinnamon, LSD, Paprika, and other spice- and drug-related names. This made us all happy that we weren't his future kids or wife! We wondered if Isabel was of age now to drink since she hadn't been that time at Nathan's in June with the chicken and mondo salad: she said that she'd turned 19 in August, so we wouldn't have to worry about repercussions anymore. Jon asked if her parents knew she consumed alcohol; probably not! Then we wondered about first-year Ivan since we were drinking Pike Place Tender, Antares double Scotch ale, and Phillip's Accusation Ale. Mike asked who the oldest person in the room - that would be me, so he asked whether I was 20-something. I WISH, HAHA. Told him that I was 31, which surprised him - Jeremy turned to me and said that we'd just celebrated it. Oh, I know! Mike said that he'd heard the drinking age could be lowered to 16 if there was someone responsible with them - score for Ivan, who didn't drink our beer anyhow!

Someone brought up the term "manzer" and started using it in all sorts of places like Shakespeare, popular song lyrics, etc. Mike and Nathan were laughing way too hard to tell me what it meant, so I asked Jeremy. Nathan calmed down enough to tell me what they'd been discussing in Sunday School: whether Timothy was a b*stard or not. "Better not use that around a certain person!" Jon brought up the Booty Logo when I said that there was a kid in Sunday School class who drew three poops and a toilet on his worksheet of King David extending hospitality to Jonathan's son Mephibosheth and his family - SO NOT APPROPRIATE, and I'm not teaching the kids the Way of the Booty! Then he brought up sanitary napkins, which led to an extremely low point in the discussion when Nathan said something about hair and spouses. The females at the table were certainly grossed out, and didn't want the guys to know. They found out when Jon explained sanitary napkins to them: "I have two sisters and a mother, and they discuss this stuff rather openly!" I told Jeremy that at least we weren't discussing Erin's embarrassing stories, some of which have to do with stuff related to sanitary napkins!

We consumed one mooncake and a LOT of longan - Christon decided that he HAD to get a picture of Jeremy's very long peel when he held it close to his eye. Then someone suggested leaving the fruit on the peel as a sort of eyeball, and then having Ivan pretend to eat it - that led to a lot of laughs. Eric told me that they'd found something weird in Christon's pantry: a Tim Horton's box with one doughnut left... but the doughnut had a bite taken out of it! EW! Discussed composting: apparently, Christon missed a clearly-labeled compost bin in the UBC SUB which was two feet away from the garbage can. To be fair, this initiative is brand new, and is part of Sustainable UBC. We asked how his dad coped with the garbage strike - he gets up at 4-5 AM and dumps the family garbage at a nearby restaurant since they have private collectors for their trash. Hahaha, that sounds like our "dump your garbage across the street!" recommendation for Vivian and Karen! We nominated the guilty young ones to wash / rinse / dry the dishes: watching THAT was quite hilarious! Julie said the dishes came too fast, to which Jon said that obviously she's never washed dishes by hand at home before! Then she managed to not see the sponge, which was sitting right by a pile of dirty dishes! Christon tried to capture it on video, but decided it would take WAY TOO LONG! We said hi to Christon's brother Clement when he came in, and had to make room for him - it could be the most crowded that the kitchen's ever been! Discussed the cider which was made from an Internet recipe - Isabel commented that it smelled like Christmas, and Jon determined that it must be the cloves. Jeremy noticed cloves in the bottom of my cup when I filled it with some beer - I knew they were in there, but maybe it'll add to the flavor! Ivan decided to mix some carrot soup with the cider - he can be Jon's protégé! Luckily, nobody decided to combine the butter chicken with anything except rice and sauce! (three ladles going at once, oh my!)

Later, Ivan / Julie / Isabel / Mike / Citrus were playing around with Nintendo DS Lite games. I told Jon that the TETRIS one seemed to be counter-intuitive because the controls were all switched around! (pressing "up" to make your pieces go DOWN, etc.) Earlier, I'd been half-sitting on Citrus' DS Lite - oops. Jon loved how the room was full of people being anti-social: the young ones playing Nintendo, my reading a history Bathroom Reader, Nathan working on his laptop, Jeremy and Eric just sitting on the piano bench / the couch... we needed SOME downtime! Discussed devotions, other names for roadies (equipment manager / technical stage assistant / whatever else we came up with), MARIO games, human Tetris and Youtube videos, Tetris documentaries, Russians, Firefox windows disappearing on Linux a lot, differing times on the clocks in the room, Vancouver maps, beer money, and more. Definitely a good night! On the way home, the guys and I discussed plans for the week and the Thanksgiving carnival: cowboys and rides, here we come! Our family's Thanksgiving dinner is Monday, but I don't mind that. At home, I talked to Corey for a while - so amusing!

Got an email from Eric this morning about my chipset temperature: probably a good idea to turn the thing off overnight or if I'm out for the day. Wanted to know if Wednesday or Thursday would work better for me - I guess it is Wednesday by default. Man, my week will be busy-ish! I have new friends on Facebook, too: Dylan, Jennifer L., Candy B., Auntie Rebecca, Karen Law, Dave, Wayland, Eric, Karen Lew, Chris Lam, Caroline, Denise, Henry, Vania, Mike T., Peter, Joey, Anita T., Hien, Andrea, Adela, and Lucas. Yay! Off to cannibalize more people, hahaha. A post with a bunch of dream highlights should be coming up later, I guess. Gotta feed my new addiction... thanks, Darren. :P

Goodbye, BooBoo....

I still don't have my computer yet, so am currently blogging from my parents' house. Nathan's coming later for a Mid-Autumn Festival dinner which includes soup, rice, Alaskan king crab, fish, something in Chinese which I can't read, ham, chicken / tofu / seaweed, veggies, and mooncake. Let's go back to the past now: Sunday night at Montana's was pretty fun. It featured a final goodbye to Darren, the resurrection of the Booty Logo, Danielle not knowing the difference between biceps and pecs, a massive eyeroll picture, steak, ribs, ice cream cake, Cindy getting a job, Michelle writing "YOU ARE BEING ANTI-SOCIAL" on the paper for Daniel and Nathan, trading stories about Sean ("Caesar salad orgasm / 30 children in 10 years / sperm / ovaries / what does LOSING IT mean, guys? Citrus?"), and more!

Of course, my sister had to ask what I was doing at Granville Island yesterday morning since people spotted a COUGAR there... *rolleyes*

I'll keep my promise to BooBoo as soon as I have a working computer again, for sure. (Eric's teasing me doesn't work, someone else saying stuff won't work, and various others saying it's addictive IS a warning which worked for a bit... but it takes his moving to Ireland to finally push me over the edge, oh my!) I also finally caught up on my devos this early afternoon, whoops. Read stuff at the Oakridge bookstore yesterday, had my dentist appointment (was greeted in chorus by three people - found seven missed calls from them at home), was home in half an hour (yay for the 496!), did a lot of reading, and also found myself missing K a bunch. Note to self: Call Eric back tonight since he called when I was sleeping at 11:20 PM.

Here are a few pictures from Sunday night...

BOOTY LOGO:

STOP TWISTING YOUR NEW ASSISTANT PASTOR!

9 to 10 AM - Get annoyed because it's April 1. Have a breakfast consisting of a giant cookie and some milk, plus the coffee that I'd had at home beforehand. I hear Dad refer to someone by a family nickname - man, I know it's gotten bad then! Tell Jon that Steph "drew" a certain logo for Eric over MSN, and recount Dad's LAME "nose = nosy" joke: it was so tautologous! Give candy to Natalie, who looks disappointed when I tell her that she has to share it with her brother Nathan, but she thanks me anyhow. The second song in today's worship set is one of those "lighter" songs where you could just sway back and forth with a lighter (or cell phone) at dark concerts. (too bad I can't tell my seatmate that, but my usual companion would have understood!) A little later, I notice a "your / you're" grammar error in To The Ends of The Earth... so I follow my usual policy in these cases, and refuse to sing the rest of the song. Another good song - RUINED! (and Daniel's a TEACHER, too!) One day, they'll do this with a REALLY catchy tune / my favorite songs, and I'll find myself violating my own rules... yes, I do know it won't affect anything and certainly won't help them fix it, but still I like taking my personal individual "stance." :(

10 to 11:15 AM - YAY, MORBID SERMON PASSAGE ABOUT CANNIBALISM OF ONE'S CHILDREN! (it was featured in the Morbid Facts newsletter recently, too!) I did not know that pigeon dung was valued in famine days at $1600, nor did I know that a donkey's head was similarly valued at $32,000! Talked to Randal about San Francisco, Jelly Belly, and eating ALL the sample almonds at the Blue Diamond factory - SO HILARIOUS! It's cool that he wants to spend more time with his parents and see the city - since he's never really been on a bus tour (except as a small kid), I warned him that he'd have to get up early every day. Oh well, might as well take your opportunities where you can get 'em... and I'm sure he probably deals better with such stuff than I do!

Jon says that Pastor Edward will make oxtail soup for Maundy Thursday, and Eric wonders if that's austere enough: we have NO idea! Ask Steph about the birthday cards: she gave them to Jon, who says he left them at home - STUPID! I finally see Wayland, who's here from St. Louis on Spring Break for one week: YAY, NO RESEARCH! Jeremy makes a pun about "Sunrise Service" being "Son-Rise Service" - that certainly works, haha! Then I say hi to Darren, Ivan, Chris, and others before going in to help with the toddlers... but make a pit stop to say hi to Roberta Luongo AKA baby Hannah - ONE YEAR OLD AND HAVING FUN! Cindy and Dianne think she's very cute, too - MY CARD WILL BE LATE! ACK! Actually, Phil's card is urgent too since his birthday is tomorrow... but the ugfart didn't do as we wanted him to!

11:15 AM to 12:30 PM - Rachel and Wilson are engrossed in "picnic time," which is actually "let's see how many toys we can fit under this small table!" time. Rediscover that the kiddy Play-Doh smells - EW! Sean seems entranced by bells, baby mobiles, and wandering around with my rainbow stickers - although he DOES sit down for a while, and lets me hold him for a bit while he's playing with toys. He doesn't take my hand to tell me something, but he pulls me by the finger - whatever suits you! Ben's back, and has all these cars to himself: good thing he covered his mouth when he was sneezing near me, since I do NOT need kiddy germs now or ever! I see Gwyneth and Evelyn, who tell me that nobody gave them candy or sugar today - yet the older one is still jumping up and down! (ADD?) I guess their uncle was telling me the truth yesterday, haha.

12:30 to 1:30 PM - Say hi to Amos, Jason, and Adam: I still can't believe the Wong brothers have NEVER had Dad's chocolate chip cookies! (or any other sort from that company) I think I really WILL have to buy some tomorrow, and remember to take out a lot of cash while I'm at it! Christon gives away the "recipe" to Dylan and a bunch of us for "Aunt Jemima's Southern Love": EWWWWWWWW! (tofu, lots of cornmeal, and lots of leftover oil from frying!) Then he tells us that he asked Andrea and Anita why their "fried" stuff tasted so bad even when there were two girls in their group: it's ALL the newcomer's fault! Josh apparently decided to whip up something with soya sauce, teriyaki sauce, maple syrup, cornmeal, and goodness knows what else! Isabel to J-Mak: "No WONDER my stomach felt so bad afterwards!" Dylan to the general group: "Was Wayland here today then?" Yes, my absent-minded friend!

Before the two assistant pastors share, we have a lunch consisting of Chinese takeout. People ask Steph who's going on the Mexico missions trip this year from our church: not many people! (Chris, Steph, Michelle, and Janette) Dylan says that it was a good thing he wasn't there on Friday, since he was really sick and not just faking it as Steph thought: he really did sound under the weather. I notice that SOMEONE gives more detail to another person than I got initially... well, then! Witnessing to your parents on a Chinese bus tour? Hey, it's no worse than when my aunt Janis tried getting to know me spiritually in Victoria overnight - but at least then, we had a bit of common ground. One evening a week with the parents isn't enough time for that kind of thing, but I can't say how I'd react given that same situation - must be hard. *empathy*

Get on the topic of parents / moms matchmaking for us - I grew up with it! ("Person V would be GOOD for her! Person W would be GOOD for my son! Darn, she's taken now - what about Person X? Person Y would be GREAT for my other daughter! Hey, maybe Person Z would be PERFECT for my son's good friend since they're both tall people!") Then there was the year that my mom sent me this card in the mail saying how it was a SPECIAL BIRTHDAY since she'd given birth to me at that age (28), and how I should find a boyfriend! Uh, sure... Then I ask Auntie Christina if she'd ever pressure her kids like that: she emphatically doesn't believe in it, which is a VERY good thing! Chris asks Steph if he can have the rest of her personal stash of ice cream in the freezer: we tell him that he really doesn't want a half-tub of double chocolate ice cream all at once, so he ends up sharing it with me / Karen Lew / Isabel / J-Mak / other people. Daniel sees this and wonders if this is the ice cream that's supposedly been in the church freezer FOREVER since the inception of the church: HAHA, no... it's from Valentine's Day! ("it's the ORIGINAL ICE CREAM, and it's now 32 years old... EWWW!!!")

1:30 to 2:45 PM - Listen to Jon and Phil tell us a bit about themselves and their ministry vision... it was pretty good! I like what they had to say, although Jon COULD have done without jumping across half the room in order to hit Nathan / Jeremy in front of some people who don't know him as well as we do! *sigh* (Auntie Bessy's sister, Isabel's parents, etc.) Sure, it's a public persona and all, but you don't do it in front of YOUR GRANDMOTHER! She was there for support (?) even though she couldn't understand anything that was said - my mom was too busy with her video camera to translate, and my dad wasn't sitting near her! It would be interesting to hear what she thought, but it'll probably be "Hmph! I didn't understand anything, so it was useless!" (sad face!)

Contrary to what certain people thought, Uncle Peter DID ask a good / constructive question about English ministry vs. Chinese ministry. (just because you dislike the man's opinions doesn't mean they're not valid to some people!) Also contrary to what certain people thought, Phil didn't say we had to move forward and forget about the events of early 2004 - he said that we had to TALK ABOUT the hurt (even more than three years on!), and maybe re-invite the people who left as a gesture of reconciliation even if they don't take it! I happen to agree with "Don't pretend it never happened!", but then I'm not getting into that stramash again with those certain people who think those thoughts!

Steph comes downstairs from the Mexico trip meeting, and asks Cindy how the sharing session went: pretty good! Various plans were made for later today / Sunrise Service... Jeremy tells me that he's surely going, and Eric might too. I have yet to personally make my decision, but I probably will end up going - I'd better hope I sleep well the night before! Everyone stands around and talks for a while: Eric recommends I get some leftover food, so I do. Jeremy says it took him only two days to finish all the leftovers from Chung's wedding, heh. We're surprised to see an original tiny blue Mini Cooper parked outside the church, and then Mom is dismayed because their car is being blocked - the other family car is blocking it, so it's not like we'll have to drag someone out of the Mandarin Service to move their car!

2:45 to 3:20 PM - Mom gives me a whole bunch of other stuff along with the spring jacket... haha, Uncle Sam's office has its own mug now! Gum, toothbrush, Starburst, floss, and mini toothpaste - yup, gotta keep the dentist business with the Starburst! ;) Listen to Mom stretch the truth, but don't say anything since that would most likely get me dumped off in the middle of Knight Street. Try telling my sister various things in a very low voice (including the truth about what Phil said, even though her feelings were different back then on an important matter), and Mom accuses me of mumbling. No, there's a difference between mumbling and saying stuff you don't want others to hear in the car! *sigh*

Sister seems really disappointed that she won't get to see a repeat performance of the CREAMER FLIPPING at ABC Country Restaurant - there's always next year, haha. At least I can now save my Easter baptism cards for next year too, since Pastor Edward told me that nobody from my congregation is getting baptized next week! Not to be cliquey or anything, but I probably won't know them if they're newcomers from the Mandarin / Cantonese congregations: inter-congregational support is good, though! Then again, I thought the same about Henry when Chris / Danny / Benedict told me that he was getting baptized with them - I remembered him from when he was a little kid, but not a year ago or so!

Steph says that Vivian, Karen, and their mom really hate getting up early - and then have to be hounded out of bed like my brother does! Hey, I don't like getting up early either (we have to be at the airport at 6:35 AM for an American flight... why did I agree to go on this trip again for the lifestyle sacrifice?!), but at least I usually get out of bed in reasonable time! I may lie around for ten minutes or so... however, I am kinda ready by the time my brother gets out of bed! Tell Mom NOT to refer to a certain person with her weird designation - WISHFUL THINKING! Tomorrow it is... yay for rides home and no jokes about various stupid topics! Speaking of such, we told my mom not to make certain jokes at the airport - this one time in Vancouver (dropping off Melissa / Steph?), she used a certain "B" word a few minutes after she told me not to use that word in an airport! Nice going, Mom...

Hey, I have a perfect comeback for my mom if she accuses me of not really wanting to spend time with the family - she WILL do it, knowing her! "If I didn't want to do that, would I have signed up for the cruise?" Of course, that'll only work for so long! Yipes... at least I can commiserate with someone about being shy and other matters!

You shout in your sleep?! / Mrs. Fields Cashew and Coconut Cookies

When Eric picked me up, he insisted on throwing out my garbage bag for me: it was very light, so I could have done it myself! Oh well, it was nice of him to do so. (and I forgot one particular item, too!) We spent most of the ride to church discussing a certain subject which I won't get into here. Let's just say that I don't know if moving is a good thing to do. He then wondered if I had given him a death threat right before I hung up the phone: nope, you must be hearing things! Sure, you'll probably deserve at LEAST one during the course of the evening, but saying "I'm here now.. you coming?" is hardly worthy of such! Then he told me that weirdness was a continual state of being, so I was always weird... yeah yeah, whatever! After grumbling about traffic, he tried annoying me by singing some weird song from a movie in a bizarre accent: he'd stop when I guessed the movie it was from. ("Donkey" and SHREK!) I made him interrupt the flow a couple of times by exclaiming over the 109.9 gas price / saying that a traffic light turned red right when we coasted through an intersection / breaking out my weird indiscernible accent. (it's not Australian, and it sure as heck ain't British!)

We parked in back of the church and let people block us since we'd be leaving late as usual. Once he opened the door for me, we went downstairs where he engaged in some interesting behavior: if you're going to do that, at least clear the way so I can sit beside you and another person who's reading a newspaper so his attention's distracted! After exchanging words under our breath, I sighed and put my stuff down on the floor. Randal thanked me for the dinner invite (I should say 6:30 is the absolute latest, not 7... but if he can eat in an hour, all the more power to him!), and discussed whether Jack Bauer would go cannibal on us if we tried eating him - oh, most probably! Talked to Dawn about how we thought we'd probably die before we saw my grandma's current age: 87 probably isn't going to be our lifespan! Maybe we'll die while doing whatever we do in the middle of living, or while eating a steak at a big celebration! No idea what Randal thought of the discussion, but it naturally came up while discussing my weekend plans which possibly include my grandma's birthday dinner. (I'd say we're not morbid, but that's a lie when it comes to me at least, and he knows it!)

Jon passed by, eating something out of a bowl - ah, the days of a quick dinner! The refreshments provided by Frances' Bible Study group were all Japanese: Lesley ate almost all of the Japanese soybeans - they WERE good! I had some sushi, but didn't really want any rice crackers... go figure. Karen offered to get me some more stuff, but I ended up not taking any during the talk. That reminds me - I *still* have her husband Ivan's birthday card! Ugh, maybe on Sunday since tomorrow might not be a good time? Haha. Talked to Dylan, Lesley, and Connie about our fellowship and how it could be improved - good ideas there. Later, Billy had some psychology surveys for us to do on our personality and cellphones: Henry told him that nobody cared about his leading statements, and just to get to the point. I gather that's something he has to tell him quite frequently, haha. Later, I greeted Jeremy briefly - seems he accomplished a lot this week at work, so yay for that! Stanley was being "insane" (his word) when he tried kicking us out 20 minutes early, haha. (Vivian concurred)

Went upstairs and talked to Andrea and Danielle for a while: Chuck's coming here long-term in June or July... he and Andrea don't have to deal with any distance issues! I told her that they won't have to worry about time zones anymore if they wanted to tell the other something, and she thinks it'll be a huge adjustment: probably, but at least they'll be in the same city! Steph was bugging Cordia about being dainty, which is what Danielle's teaching her to be - no room for being dainty if you're going to move tables around to prepare for a wedding reception! Luckily for her sweat issues, the guys will be doing that. She's not going to complain about it being early at 8 or 8:30 since we're right in Richmond anyhow, and it's a bit easier than Citrus' trip from PoCo! Steph told him that her wedding will be in Richmond, so he joked that his would be in PoCo - NOOOOO!

In the car, we discussed a certain subject - I don't know about these suggestions, but at least they give my life some spice? Steph said that her co-worker gave her a game plan to shop for a dress: hey, guys can just put on a nice suit and tie outfit... but us girls have to put in a little more effort! We'll bring out the glamor at night, possibly! I mentioned that "detailed itinerary" email that Mom had sent - Steph was also very surprised that Mom managed to use "no worries" correctly, and was like "Where the heck did she pick that up from?!" (not us!) Melissa had emailed Steph about Alan and Liz getting engaged a couple of days ago - Steph's new dress will suffice for Chung's wedding, an overnight trip for a co-worker's wedding, Phil's wedding, and her first Toronto wedding! Everyone in my siblings' sets of friends seems to be getting married / engaged these days - it's that life stage! Two or three years from now - the BABY BOOM!

Jon got on the phone with Harmony, and kinda introduced her gently to the Booty Logo: I sorta have an animated version of that - the Olympic pooping icon, which Eric has seen before! Someone brought up Viva Java - the owner has character, all right! Discounts for coffee and free stuff when Mom comes in, slightly less when Steph comes in, only a little when Dad comes in, none when Jon comes in - it was hilarious when Jon wandered in with Dallas once, haha. Steph says that our parents went in together once, and got almost no discount! It would be hilarious if Jon goes in with Harmony sometime: "This is your girlfriend? Eh, he's no good - I see his family all the time!" Danielle is sleeping over at Citrus' place, and shares a room with Cordia when she does so: the only problem is that Cordia SHOUTS in her sleep, and doesn't remember it afterwards! As Eric said, that must have been FUN the first time! It's not like you can understand her - it's kinda like tongues and like she's having a conversation, and Joyce confirms it. Must be extra nice when she sleeps over during the week and Cordia's in residence then!

Spongebob Beanie Babies RULE! / No liquid sleep aids!

I found the perfect birthday present for my distant cousin Ethan just now at Save-On: a half-price Spongebob Beanie Baby! He loves Spongebob, so I'm hoping he likes it! The only thing is that I'll have to get my mom to send it to his mom Anna sometime... and do I even HAVE the kid's birthday in my BootyBase? I think his sister Brigitte's birthday is in October, and maybe that's the case with him too... let's see. Brigitte's is 6 October 1998, and Ethan's is 30 October 2003... okay, so I'm a little late. :P Gives me some time to find something for Brigitte too, at the very least! Got some Mediterranean chips with batata, parsnip, yuca, and other interesting flavors too. (plus spicy Thai kettle chips and way too much other junk food even though my mom gave me a bag of caramel rice cakes and other junk food yesterday!) Speaking of birthday stuff, I got birthday cards for Sean / Pat / Sheena... if Vanessa doesn't reply to my email (I know she's busy!), I can use Sean's as a spare! (and I got a cute Chinese New Year card for Grandma, hehe)

Replaced my #19 Bathroom Reader... then got some Tylenol cold pills (no more liquid Nyquil for me!) aspirin, and some microwaveable meals which were on sale. No liquid soap / laundry detergent since I don't need that! My brother had mentioned on Sunday that my favorite Boston Pizza was closed down, and I got to see the truth of that statement just now. Apparently, it's closed for renovations according to Barry... guess we'll see about THAT later, too. I remembered the rental thing, and he didn't - seems a bit odd, but whatever. Also got some new Mentos gum (Arctic Frost / Spearmint / Cinnamint), and some St. Ives (Swiss formula!) Exfoliating Apricot body wash since they had a coupon to save 75¢ on one. Was hoping for the Brownie Pie ice cream I saw at Safeway on Sunday, but no luck... yes, I know the two stores' selection is way different! :P (had to settle for some Half-Baked to satisfy my brownie cravings)

All right, I need a bath or shower now after that pricey expedition with bottled green tea which was on sale / bottled water / bananas / fruit / salad / chip dip / baby carrots / six Starbucks frappuccinos. Hopefully, I can get some RQ tagging work done and be finished with 2004 today! I've been going out a lot lately, so that's been a factor in why I'm not finished at least March 2005 yet, haha. I also have a LOT of journal comments to catch up on, so that'll be my afternoon / evening for sure. Ah, here's an email from Lesley about dinner at the Latitude on Saturday. It sounds like an expensive restaurant, but it's really the apartment building where she lives! The guys and I were discussing that on Friday, and Jon seemed surprised that I hadn't responded yet! Hey, sometimes I don't RSVP to things immediately... so I guess we'll see if I get a ride, haha!

He unfriended me randomly... what should I do? / GIANT box of chocolates!

With Jim (harryroberts / kodyscott) unfriending me SUDDENLY FOR NO REASON, this means that now I have to do a bunch of work on my BootyBase: delete his email address, various instant message contacts, physical address (even though that includes his sister Catherine - geordiecat76), and stats. Not sure what I should do with the postcards and friendship placards that he sent me, though... maybe I'll keep the postcards even though they mention "being friends forever." As for the friendship placards, I suppose I'll figure out what to do with them later as I still carry them in my wallet and have since I got them in 2004! (the only problem is that they're obviously from the UK, and I've never been there!)

When he picked me up, Henry asked whether I still needed him to give me a ride back from church. Yep, even though that required a bit of a schedule change on his part because he was supposed to tutor some girl in biology afterwards. I was just fine with leaving right away when things were done! He told me that his Fellowship program had been a presentation on five world religions: sounds like interesting stuff to learn! I told him that our groups had gone to MissionsFest, which is why half the usual people weren't at church last night... of course, I included the traffic story / Steamworks stuff for flavor. He asked how it was, so I told him about that Darfur story: "Darfur is EVIL!" I quite agree, my friend! That made him want to go to MissionsFest, so he asked when everything closed at Canada Place: 10 tonight, and 5 tomorrow. Not sure he can go now, but maybe next year?

At church, Ian and Sean's dad came up to give me the dues money of a dollar per kid - he handed me a toonie ($2 coin), and said that it was for both kids. I was quite surprised, as Sean definitely was NOT ready for Awana when he'd tried it back in October or late September! He was having a tantrum on the floor during the flag ceremony because (I now think) he wasn't used to so many people or the routine or all the lights on at once in the basement. His mom had tried to contain him, but no luck there. Apparently, now his parents think he could be ready since he managed fairly well when they went to Hong Kong over the holidays... cool stuff!

Later, Amos and I saw this HUGE box of assorted chocolates! Auntie Vivian said that Julie C.'s mom Auntie Tonya had given it to us, which meant that I wouldn't be able to partake in it... oh well. When I say "huge," I mean it: it was 1.4 kilograms, when you can normally get them in 400-600 gram boxes at the store! I wonder where she got it from... maybe Costco, haha. I'll ask her when I see her next if I remember, since she wasn't feeling well today. Jason came up to us later and said that Andrew got OWNED because Auntie Rebecca caught him eating gummy candy when he wasn't supposed to, and lectured him... whoops! Dude, at least stick with gum or abstain from eating till 6!

Afterwards, I saw Sean coming downstairs and going straight for the red / Cubbies line: hey, that's pretty good! I yelled for his older brother Ian, who of course didn't answer me. Telling Henry to hold on one second, I went over to Ian and told him to watch his brother, turning him around so he could see Sean standing there all alone. I didn't have time to talk to them, but it didn't matter since their dad was there to pick them up. On the way home, Henry called the girl he was supposed to tutor and said he'd be a bit late. After waiting in FOGGY conditions on Knight St., the girl called him back: they rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully, the AGM will be done by 4!

Speaking of the AGM, Nathan sent us a suggestion: since there's a Canucks game on tomorrow, he wants us to start the movie right after the meeting at 4 or 5 PM. He thinks we should have enough time to watch the game at 7, and make it a double-bill. That COULD work out except someone has to buy dinner ingredients if we're still making dinner! Or we could always order a whole bunch of pizza... guess we'll see how things go with that!

Refreshing suicide bombers, rides to MissionsFest, KFC Crispy Strips

Christon will be there on Sunday since he says he needs something to refresh himself after the AGM. Not sure if watching stuff about suicide bombers does that for me, but it COULD be refreshing to others! Then again, I may just want to blog before stuff leaves my head, haha. I *could* take notes during the meeting about what's in my head / what happened up to certain points of the day, however.

I got a phone call from a number I didn't recognize on my Caller ID, so I left it alone after investigating my BootyBase and finding no matches. Imagine my surprise when the same number called again at 10:11. I decided that whoever was at the number must want something, as opposed to being random apartment complex residents buzzing my number simply to get into the building, which has happened before. Pressed "dial" on my phone, and asked "Who called me?" when someone answered. (sounds kinda blunt, but it's the way to go! :P)

Turned out to be Randal, who was confirming that I still needed a ride out tomorrow to MissionsFest. That was good of him to do, so I said that I'd meet him at 5 since it was rush hour AND there was a Canucks-Kings game on here, which I confirmed later. (note to self: WEAR JERSEY!) After we get to Canada Place, we'll meet Karen and Andrea for dinner in that vast food court: it could be useful, as I said to him! That sounds like a plan then, although he thinks that he made firm plans at the ping-pong night. I've learned not to view anything as "set in stone" unless it's confirmed, haha. He better have my address too, but he can call me if he doesn't. Now I've updated my BootyBase to reflect the new information as well, heh.

Right after that, Jon called to say that Eric was driving tomorrow to MissionsFest. I knew that, but always assumed he was going straight from work, as that was the case in previous years when I didn't go. It was his turn to be surprised when I said that I already had a ride and had just made plans with the person. He thought it was someone from the SDMB... oh no, I haven't really been to that board in FOREVER! Besides, why would THEY go there?! (judging from what I've seen on there, anyhow!) Of COURSE it would be a church person that drove me there... *rolleyes* Crazy brother I have... then he said stuff about pooping at the same time as someone else, so I told him to look at my Olympic pooping icon! (haha) After that, I told him that I needed a shower so I was going to hang up on him. Should be cool and interesting tomorrow, and this breaks my three-year streak of not going to MissionsFest... whee! :D (haven't been there since 2003, when a few of us went to the 24-hour Pho place afterwards!)

KFC Crispy Strips

The Colonel used to sell chicken nuggets that were tasty, but he thought: "Why not prepare fresh chicken strips of all-white meat?" That is how the Colonel's Crispy Strips were born. You will notice it is the same as the Extra Crispy.

1 egg, beaten
1 cup milk
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon pepper
3/4 teaspoon MSG
1/8 teaspoon Paprika
1/8 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/8 teaspoon Baking Powder

Cut 6 chicken breasts into strips, or you can buy chicken tenders in the store. Marinate them overnight. Preheat the shortening in a deep-fryer to 350 degrees. Beat 1 egg and 1 cup of milk. Dip the chicken into the egg mixture. Dip the chicken into the coating and then double-dip. Fry in fryer a few at a time till they are golden brown, for about 5 minutes or until they float. Remove the chicken to a rack and allow to drain for 5 minutes.

Temperamental beast running slowly / KFC Corn

I should probably restart this computer sometime since it's been running on (s)low capacity all day, and it's been freezing my browser and such! Then again, I won't need another window OR the Excel document open (which takes up some memory, I know) if I just finish what I'm doing! So maybe I'll wait on it till I get that done. :P (at least the computer's not as bad as my 486 was, but STILL...)

KFC Corn

A favorite of the Colonel was corn on the cob. He decided if he was going to sell it, it had to be delicious and sweet.

Frozen corn
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon MSG
melted butter

Cook the corn in hot salted water with a dash of milk till nice and tender. When it is done, dip the corn in butter and sprinkle with the seasoning.
