Feelings, nothing more than feelings....

Tonight's concert would probably have been okay had I not helped with the kids from 4 till 10. As it was, I felt sorta bored and definitely superfluous. The kids were fine, and looked cute in their animal costumes... little Ian ran off the stage just before they presented a song since he wanted his mom. I talked to Joanna, Mike, Margaret, Sam (who can't make it to Awana next week due to exams), Eric H., Nathan, Daniel (who gave me a high-five), Chris, and a couple of others. My own sister (who gave me a guilt trip a few weeks ago about not attending this thing because it was a "unity thanksgiving" event, I must note) didn't even show up tonight... with over 1000 people there, I wouldn't have seen her. But I learned later from my dad that she was home with Mom, and then seeing the Chronicles of Narnia movie (which I actually AM kinda interested in seeing) with some friends. I might have been better served by staying home tonight, too... but *I* went and did my extraneous bit! (geez, I hate people like that...) Maybe I'll stay home next year....

Ministry, the Who, Christmas quizzes

Thanks to Corey mentioning a Ministry song that has "inside outside which side you don't know!" in it (Thieves), I woke up with the Who's 5:15 in my head. I thought we were playing word association for a while there last night... I'll get him back for this, haha.

Artist: Ministry
Song: Thieves
Album: The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste

Thieves, thieves and liars, murderers
Hypocrites and bastards in laughter

Hey, thanks for nothing!
Morals in the dust
Two-faced bastards and syncophants
No trust

Thieves! Liar!
Inside, outside, which side, you don't know.
My side, your side, their side, we don't know.
Which side are they? Which side are they?
Which side of their mouth do you suppose that it came?
Which side are they? Which side are they?
Which side of the grass is greener?
Inside, outside, which side, you don't know
My side, your side, their side, no one knows

You're like a great big f***ing gun,
Just waiting to get squeezed!

Breathe, forfeit erection!
Toxical injection
Geriatric f***-fest
We still believe in lies

Thieves! Liar!
Inside, outside, which side, you don't know
My side, your side, their side, we don't know
Who started it? Who started it?
Which side are they? Which side are they?
Which side of their mouth do you suppose that it came?
Which side are they? Which side are they?
Which side of the grass is greener?
Inside, outside, which side, you don't know
My side, your side, their side, no one knows

You're like a great big hit of acid,
Waiting to be taken!

Why should I care?
Why should I care?

Girls of fifteen
Sexually knowing
The ushers are sniffing
Eau-de-cologning
The seats are seductive
Celibate sitting
Pretty girls digging
Prettier women.

Magically bored
On a quiet street corner
Free frustration
In our minds and our toes
Quiet stormwater
M-m-my generation

Uppers and downers
Either way blood flows.

Inside outside. Leave me alone.
Inside outside. Nowhere is home.
Inside outside, Where have I been?
Out of my brain on the five fifteen.

On a raft in the quarry
Slowly sinking.
On the back of a lorry
Holy hitching.
Dreadfully sorry
Apple scrumping.
Born in the war
Birthday punching.

He man drag
In the glittering ballroom
Gravely outrageous
In my high heel shoes
Tightly undone
They know what they're showing
Sadly ecstatic
That their heroes are news.

Why should I care?

My friend Lee sent me this link: when I saw the name on the email, I had to cogitate as to who it was since I'm not used to seeing it. *blush* I think you'll get a kick out of it, though!

Can you grow watercress in a keyboard?

You Are Dancer

Carefree and fun, you always find reasons to do a happy dance.

Why You're Naughty: That dark stint you had as Santa's private dancer.

Why You're Nice: You're friendly. Very friendly.

The "private dancer" bit reminds me of Tina Turner, heh.

Okay. Time to get off the Net (and eat fried chicken) because Sam said he'd call me before leaving. Seeya!

Questions 1551-1600 of 5000

Got these questions from this QuestionClub LJ post by Arthurbulla. I'm going to post the survey in 50-question batches, like the original. No worries there! Five thousand questions and answers wouldn't fit as an entry, anyhow. :P

The only complete copy... you'll have to go around erasing answers.

1551. What song would you sing at karaoke? Have you sung at karaoke? Ah, the good ol' days when Sean would go to Mike's at Metrotown after Fellowship.. there was this time he ordered Brian to pretend he was going home from Hansel and Cathy's. (hahaha, Hansel had just talked to us about going to Fellowship just because we'd be doing something else later!) Anyhow, yeah... I've sung karaoke a bunch of times with lots of people. (like at that time we had the party room for the February birthday peeps: Sarah, Sean, Eddie, Hannah, and Steph!) Two examples: Aerosmith's I Don't Want To Miss A Thing and Eagle Eye Cherry's Save Tonight. Very good memories. :D

A very entertaining hockey game, albeit with a lot of special teams play

Tonight's 3-2 game was certainly very entertaining and memorable despite the terrible officiating with young referees, and this benchmark / measuring stick showed that Vancouver knows how to play Ottawa's fast game... they're capable of playing like this more often, if they can put themselves to it. I mean, they scored just 67 seconds into the game! There were a lot of (borderline / phantom) penalties in the game (Vancouver alone had 13 power plays to Ottawa's 7), so not a lot of 5-on-5 action... Mike Fisher of the Ottawa Senators was in the penalty box four times tonight, heh. But Dominik Hasek is a very good goaltender.. Stanley Cup rings and Vezina trophies prove it!

The Senators had a fluky pinball-like goal where the puck ricocheted in off two Canuck players... Alex Auld couldn't do anything about it. That led to the first overtime / shootout game at GM Place this year, where the Canucks had a power play for the first 67 seconds. They hadn't been in a shootout since the second game of the season against Edmonton, and the Dominator's considered the best in penalty shots in the game. (he hadn't been scored on this year in a shootout before tonight) Auld hadn't been in a NHL shootout before tonight, either. The shots on goal were 38-23 in favor of the Canucks.

The shooters were Heatley, Alfredsson (who scored), and Spezza for Ottawa... and Naslund, Bertuzzi (who scored even if Hasek got a big piece of the puck), and Kesler (who's been the best one-on-one in practice) for us in the first round. You can't shoot again until you go through the entire roster, so Mike Fisher shot next in the second round: Alex Auld had a great glove save! Daniel Sedin had the winner for us, and we're first in the Northwest Division again! (two points in the standings and a game in hand against Calgary are very important!)

This would have been a very exciting game to attend! Why can't we play against them eight times a season instead of Colorado? This was the one and only meeting of the two teams, and the atmosphere was playoff-like! It was the 100th straight sellout, and provided good entertainment value! One thing with these types of games: it's not a loss for Ottawa since they get one point still. It's kinda weird, but this is the new NHL...

The three stars had to have been VERY hard to pick in this game: the goalies, Peter Schaefer (ex-Canuck), Brendan Morrison (his 500th career game), Salo, Ruutu, Bertuzzi (pre-INCIDENT play), and more players besides! But the actual three stars picked were very befuddling, even though it's easy to be an armchair analyst: Morrison, Andrej Meszaros, and Jovanovski? No slight against them, but it boggles the mind. Next game: Tuesday at 4 against the New York Rangers.

Cause of Eddie Guerrero's death.

The Chicago Bulls also retired Pippen's number tonight... yay!

Cranberry glitter lotion FINALLY opened!

I decided to go out again today since I had to mail cards to Amy, Steve and Carol, Alyssa, and Marie... getting some fried chicken with gravy, cheesecake, and bubble tea was also on the agenda. For the record, I got a plain milk tea... I'm thinking that the Death By Chocolate location right next to the Shoppers Drug Mart may be a bad thing for me, haha. But then again, bubble tea is usually a good thing. :)

I got 12 pieces of fried chicken, plus some clam chowder and strawberry cheesecake. Later, I finally figured out how to open my bottle of Body Shop cranberry glitter lotion by pushing OUT on the two flap things at the top rather than pushing them IN. The truly sad part is that it took a YEAR for me to figure this out: yes, I am quite aware that I could have asked my friends to open it for me. Then again, it turned out to be so simple that I'm glad I didn't since I'd have looked like an idiot. (and yet I'm posting this here because...?)

New shoes, dollar store stuff, thoughts, quizzes, and an overflowing inbox

Certain people just frost me... they were HALF A FRIGGING HOUR LATE, AND DIDN'T TELL ME! Of course I was outside WAITING for all that time... *grumble*

I got an Old Spaghetti Factory lunch today, as well as some time at the dollar store / Zellers. I lucked into a two-day-only shoe sale, which was good.. my new Size 7 Spalding shoes were 50% off, and my old ones weren't quite doing it. Those were things that Grandma gave us since my cousin Lillian has a LOT of stuff... yeah, I still wear that pink flambé jacket of hers. But shoes with really thin shoelaces that get untied every half hour no matter how often you double-knot them? No thanks!

I also managed to get 80 Christmas cards, and a birthday card for Joey.. his birthday's not till March, but I'm organized! At least my parents asked me today whether I'd be willing to host Melissa for a few days while Steph's off to SunPeaks with Vivian S.'s family. I don't know whether my sister talked to them after seeing what I wrote a few days ago, but I'll thank her if she did. Now I'm at least willing to consider the possibility: I hope they didn't take that as an out-and-out "yes," though they may have. I'll ask Steph to see what she thinks, heh.

Now I'm off to check the 305 (spam) emails in my inbox, and my 121 emails in my journal comments folder... at least LJ's on their way to fixing the problem with the backlogged email, haha! But 426 emails and counting is really ridiculous... o_O

Hey, I just realized that tomorrow's hockey game at 7 doesn't conflict with Fellowship because there IS no program! WHEEEEEEEEEEE! :D

1451. Who is the biggest dork you can think of? Hmmm... I'd have to say Chris S.

1452. Is there anyone that you really wouldn't like a hug from? Oh yeah... like Chris S.

1453. Do you think of some people as not worthy of being your friend? Yup, like Chris S. (gee, do I sense a theme here? hahaha)

1454. What's the most difficult job you can think of? Doing delicate invasive procedures, like separating conjoined twins.

1455. Do ferrets make you laugh? Never seen one.

1456. Are you gonna eat that? I already did.

1457. It's 12:30 PM. Why haven't I had breakfast? Because you're like me and barely thought of it.

1458. If something beautiful was asleep in the next room, would you cuddle it and risk waking it up... or let it sleep? Sleep.

1459. If you don't believe in death, will you be able to avoid dying? Stupid notion, that... death is inevitable!

1460. Are cats or dogs smarter? Cats, haha.

1461. What does the world owe you? I'd say it doesn't owe me anything, but then I'd be lying. It probably owes me compensation for certain things that I've experienced, heh.

1462. What do you want to get out of life? A lot of letters from people.

Really, think of something even better than that. The love of ALL my friends!

1463. Do you read the plays and books in English, or just the Cliff Notes? I read them.

1464. Is pro-choice equal to pro-abortion? Don't ask me these things at 1:30 AM. :P

1465. How do you cheer up emo kids? I don't. They can cheer themselves up.

1466. Which bodily function do you hate the most? Pooping.

1467. What tiny little very small thing has made you hugely happy? People appreciating me for what I do and who I am, hopefully with hugs / affection.

1468. Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey are standing side by side. You have a gun and only one bullet. What do you do? Not shoot either of them. I'd save the bullet for someone I really hated.

1469. Do you hate the word "coinkidink"? Yes, it's not a real word. Get with it, teenyboppers. :P

1470. What do the following stand for:

HTML? Hyper-Text Markup Language.

FAQ? Frequently Asked Questions.

FAO? Food and Agriculture Organization.

IMHO? In My Humble Opinion.

HIV? Human Immunodeficiency Virus.

AIDS? Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.

R&B? Rhythm and Blues.

1471. Are you:

accurate? I try to be.

bold? Sometimes.

charming? HAHAHA, no.

dependable? Sure, most of the time.

enthusiastic? Not really.

fair-minded? Sure.

generous? Yeah, sometimes a little too much so.

helpful? Yup.

inventive? Nup.

kinetic (energetic)? Kinda-sorta.

light-hearted? Sure.

mature? At times.

natural? Sure.

outgoing? Sometimes.

polite? Sure.

quick-thinking? Sometimes.

responsible? Sure.

spontaneous? Yeah.

tactful? Sure.

uninhibited? Uh.... sometimes.

versatile (flexible)? Kinda-sorta.

wonderful? HAHA, it is to laugh!

x-tra special? Yup!

your own best friend? Ha, I wish.

zany? Oh yeah, ask Eric M. :P

1472. Do you know what is really important to you? Yup.

1473. Do you forgive yourself when you make a mistake? I try to, but then I keep on thinking about it... so perhaps not.

1474. Do you visualize your goals and dreams? Sometimes.

1475. Are you alert to opportunities? I suppose.

1476. Do you look and behave like the person you want to be? HAHA, I wish!

1477. Can you read body language well? Sometimes.

Do you look people in the eye when you talk? Most of the time.

Do you notice if they aren't looking you in the eye? Yeah.

1478. Do you ask for what you want? I ask certain people.

1479. Do you keep yourself organized? For the most part.

1480. Does anyone really win an argument? Sure, why not?

1481. How would you make your marriage work? Compromise and communication.

1482. Some children were asked "How would you make your marriage work?" One child, Ricky, age ten, said: "Tell your wife she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck." Is this good advice? Haha, gotta love kids. It might pacify her for a bit (you know us women!), but probably not in the long run because it's a (white) lie.

1483. 4x + 3 = 15

What is the value of x? 3.

1484. If you had a cat, would you ever have it declawed? Yeah.

1485. Do you strive for perfection? Nope.

1486. Do you dislike being told what to do? Very much so.

1487. Have you ever had champagne? Yes.

1488. What don't you understand? Lots of things.

Whatever it is, are you afraid of it? I don't think so...

1489. Puppet Yoda or digital Yoda? Digital.

1490. What are you anti? Abortion except in grave circumstances, murder, drunkenness, smoking, lots of other stuff...

What are you pro? No clue, haha.

1491. How many notes does your diary have? Notes?! Oh goodness... a lot!

1492. Ace of Base or Enya? Enya.

1493. What makes you feel awkward? Too much silence, confrontations, etc.

1494. What do you think about not wearing a bra? It's okay if you're the only one at home / it's hot outside and nobody will notice. Otherwise, put that sucker on!

What do you think about guys not wearing underwear? EWWWWWWW. Do it in the privacy of your own space, if you must... but not in public!

1495. Finish this song lyric:

Now I know my ABC's... <--- Next time won't you sing with me.

1496. What would make you happy right now? To get some sleep!

1497. Do you get angry when there are no sprinkles for your ice cream? No.

1498. What does it mean to be from Maine? No idea.

1499. Do you prefer lobster, clams, or crab meat? Lobster!

1500. Are we there yet? Not yet... only 30% done.

N-S: All the music I have in my drop-down lists

I've been thinking of making a list of all the music that's in my usual drop-down list at the bottom of the Update Journal field in LJ, so here it is! (yes, I told you that I make weird lists... :P)

For the ones that don't sound like what I'd listen to, I edited a bunch of other people's entries a while back. I think I'll have to split this up into a few posts, actually!

A-F: All the music I have in my drop-down lists

Too bad there's no cut tag utility on here, for I'm about to list off a LOT of music. If you thought that books post a while ago was huge, this will shatter your illusions. I apologize in advance for the great length of the following lists.

A trip down memory lane, A-F
