Blog catch-up, dream jealousy, soup, and being blue

I figured out why I felt so light-headed yesterday even after eating something. But it's not something that people reading this need to know. :P

Ah, it's good to have a break from Awana because normally I'd be rushing around at 2:35 (which is when I got up) to get some form of sustenance inside me and maybe quickly check email and stuff for an hour. Still, I miss the kids... next week it is, then!

Did my usual catching up with blogs: Dawn's laptop died (after 4.5 years!), Jon's been picking up the free books like a maniac at the mission where he's been volunteering (I don't think my parents will be too impressed! :P), Vivian's relieved to be back home (and has already suffered maternal nagging about jobs!), and Dave's doing 24 impressions ("the following happens between 2 PM and 3 PM") and reflecting on time with his aunt and watermelon soup. Spoz has some CD reviews and the Magic 8 Ball of Music game (always amusing, as is the "in my pants" game!), plus photos and musings on how the old generation of rock stars managed to keep up their lifestyle.

I dreamed that a bunch of us were on a ship somewhere going to England. Once we were there, my sister and her group of friends went to France a couple billion times since we were so close to that country. I remember feeling jealous because of that, and also because my mom loved that group more than my group. Sounds about right, in my more emo moments, heh. (my sister says she spends more time with her and she's mushy... well, that's NOT me! :P)

Speaking of soup, it's time to have some vegetable soup... yummy stuff. Maybe I'll look at the latest posts page later, after some game-playing. :D

Laughter, chocolate, and weird questions

Oh yay... I got another late spam dated May 17, 2002. Eric and Jeremy were discussing that tonight, but then their discussion went over my head so I didn't really listen. :P

On the way to church tonight, I freaked Eric out by laughing randomly throughout the drive. He should be used to it by now! Later, he took my hat off my head and said that it was controlling my mind so I shouldn't have it anymore. Somehow, I don't think that's true! As promised, we had chocolate fondue in a fountain machine: it looked like something Willy Wonka would have! When I went downstairs after the program, I made Benny jealous with the description of the food upstairs: "Man, I wish she was on Iron Chef and that she'd cook for me!" I tried convincing him to go upstairs and see, but no go. (Steph, Sheena, Karen Lew, Cindy, Vania, and Christon did!) Maybe if we're still doing those food and talk programs when you move up, eh?

A bunch of the other group was going out for gelato, but why pay money for that when you could have free food (including pina colada and chicken drumettes) upstairs? Dianne, Randal, and I discussed animals and the slaughterhouse... Eric took my pen to fill out the Summer Conference registration form, and tested me on my knowledge of his last name. After knowing you for 18 years or so, you KNOW that I know what it is! No need to test me on it! Silly boy. :D

I asked Jeremy when his birthday was: he shares it with baby Ian, my friend David's son! Vivian was telling us how this store in France has sales that last a month, in January and July... so you scout out the shops for the first couple of weeks, then move in for the kill when they REALLY slash prices during the last week! (she's moved up to our group, and I hugged her hello!)

This girl Teresa who really isn't all there asked both me and my sister the weirdest questions ever. (I'm not being mean when I say she's not all there... it's true!) First, she asked my sister whether she was related to a Susanna Cheung because apparently they have the same laugh. Uh, no. Then she asked me whether "that white guy" (Eric) was my husband or my boyfriend... no, definitely not! Just because he drives me to / from Fellowship and we have inside jokes and such does NOT mean we've gone beyond friendship! (there was this time last summer when she asked Dawn whether Dave was her husband, and another time when she asked everyone in general whether we were all married to each other yet...)

Vivian and Steph were discussing how Steph felt about leading worship, and then we got into discussions of how we were going to spend the long weekend. I plan to do what I usually do, and sleep a lot. :P Steph also told Cindy that she could come over when our parents weren't home: two whole weeks to herself is gonna be GOOD! Steph, Eric, and I also discussed the heat situation in my building: apparently, it was on the news again. Definitely shady and not legal... we may have asked Karen Choo about it, but she was talking to Jeremy about something or other.

Eventually, the Richmond Crew got going and teased Jeremy about parking his bike too close to the fire hydrant. We also alerted Rich and Chung about a grill that the Chinese group had left outisde from a barbecue (still hot?), since Rich had reminded us to keep a closer eye on our belongings because strangers DO come into the church and take things lying around on the pews!

On the way home, the three of us discussed money, the church hockey league and the stuff my sister has to buy from consignment sales and Citrus, plans for the weeekend, and hugs. Then my sister did some Beavis and Butthead impressions in the backseat while Eric and I laughed at her. (not maliciously!) We discussed my hyper ways and high-pitched exclamations: they think that I had too much caffeine, even from the fondue! I dunno about that, haha. Eric asked how the bed situation was going to work when Jon got home and my grandma was still there: Steph has NO idea, and it's stressing my mom out. Then he joked that Jon could sleep at his place, since his brother's working in Seattle now (and has been since early May): we did not know that! At least his mom's okay with it, especially since she had to deal with Eric being in Victoria a few years back! Good times, indeed. :D

Lord Voldemort thinks:you're a useless worm.
Lucius Malfoy thinks:you're a filthy Mudblood.
Barty Crouch, Jr. thinks:you should make more Polyjuice potion for him.

No idea what that means, but whatever. Corey thinks I should start remembering what he told me about reading those books, haha. He also tells me that Viktor Krum is a Bulgarian Quidditch player and a wizard.. "I've read all the books.. and I'm pretty sure I've told you that before, and suggested that you read them. :P Well, start remembering! :P He's in the current movie too, so that's probably why people are talking about him."

Time confusion, feeling cheated, naps, guys, no Blogthings on Myspace, quizzes

Eric messaged me on MSN at 4:10 to say that it was actually two hours later, and that he was at home so I should get ready in a few minutes. I don't THINK so, buddy! He also claims to have sent me an image featuring his messenger window with the "correct" timestamps on it... I dunno about that, either! "What time you think it is is irrelevant. The time is 7:02 on May 17th, 2002. If you think it's something like 5:02 on May 19th, 2006 or something crazy like that, you belong in Riverview." (the local mental institution we drove by a couple nights ago)

Then again, to further add to this sense of time confusion: I just got a spam email dated four years ago (May 16, 2002), and another one dated Aug. 9, 2005 ... the subject of the first one was "New 2007 Cars Are Here!" What the heck...

I feel cheated. I got a mango gummy package with nothing but air in it! Aiyoh... I hope Corey doesn't have any of those!

Dawn messaged me last night to say she'd read my post explaining the Swedish boy name "Jerker"... she thanked me, and said that it was actually kind of hilarious since the guy she was with was named Eric, haha! I thought she couldn't read my blog, but maybe that was only when she was in a certain part of the country. Who knows with these things... at least she got the information!

I have memories of these five guys, but I'd only be friendly to Scott (who had a teen boy crush on me :P) or Darren if I ever met them (again). As for John, Stephen, or Palmer... I suspect I'd still try to be civil, but that might crack rather soon afterwards! Thank goodness for distance and non-interaction! :P

I need a nap. I suspect I won't get one. We'll see...

Note to self: Do NOT post Blogquiz things on Myspace, or else the post won't publish because of errors on the page!

Phil, Corey, Bathroom Readers, a survey, and quizzes

Note: Who's who in my LJ group blogquiz, by Holly.

Spent some time reading Phil's blog, which is insightful. (I just post way too much, haha... but it's all good) I'm still kinda happy because I get to talk to Corey tomorrow... he has to wake up early to take Jane to the airport. (or that's what he said before signing off, anyhow) We'll see about him and Jane ("quite possibly I did things with her :P"), har har. :D

I was going to give someone a history Bathroom Reader, but have now decided not to. The person has certain things going on in his life that lead me to believe that it would be a BAD IDEA to do so. Ah well...

You scored 71% spellworthiness!

You've scored well. There's very little chance of you just getting lucky with a load of answers to get into this category, I'm impressed. You have a solid grasp of English, and were probably able to deduce a lot of the correct answers for the words you haven't come across before (there are bound to be a few). Congratulations, not many people will score higher than you. Try my other tests, you'll probably make a mockery of those as well.

From this tiny and obscure sample field, you have 79% profanability!

Well... This test was never about your slang knowledge anyway, just a laugh. If you scored high, congratulations! You either have a broad knowledge of slang from a range of cultures, or good intuition, or you just got plain lucky! If you didn't, not to worry... most of the stuff in this test is fairly uncommon. Slang is a strange animal... most people have a micro-vocabulary from which to pluck a limited number of slang words for various scenarios, otherwise they don't know anything relevant. Funnier people tend to have wider slang vocabularies, but not exclusively, obviously! Thanks for taking this test, and don't bother rating it. The fact I couldn't be arsed to make it anything special should tell you I don't really care.

Redrum icon, emergency laundry, Games for the Brain, Pocky package

This is my newest icon:

Yes, it's what you think it is. :P Let's just say I hate emergency redrum laundry runs / showers. That's all you need to know without this entry getting extremely TMI. ;) (but it's a good thing this didn't happen yesterday, what with plans at Citrus' and all...)

Note: Get more loonies and quarters for laundry. It's annoying to realize you only have enough left for one washer / dryer combo. Oh, and the dryers still suck. Sigh...

I've been playing Letter Maze for some time. After I finally figured out how to move the mouse across the letters (select "I've memorized this" and let your mouse glide over the letters), it got a bit easier. However, I still am not good at it. :P (Games for the Brain is okay in general, though...)

Corey says that between me and Jane, he thinks he has enough candy to last him a year. (I sent him a lot of Pocky, gummies, and such with the seaweed and grad stuff last week) He says that my package came yesterday (I figured THAT much out :P), and then had this to say:

[19:39:00] mrptptpt: your package came yesterday :P so with your package, I have like three big bags of candy, plus a bunch of cookies and stuff that Jane brought which are downstairs...
[19:39:56] mrptptpt: your package came and I said "geez, all this weird Asian stuff keeps showing up around here...." (calling it weird just because Jane was there, so she could tell me that Asian stuff isn't weird :P)
[19:40:05] mrptptpt: I had one of the gummy dealies just now
[19:43:34] AlenaBrolxFlami: hahaha. so how was it?
[19:45:23] mrptptpt: gumtastic :P it was good

just before I got your package, we were at the "Oriental grocery store," which is one little corner in a small gas station.. I saw Pocky there and told Jane how all the anime nerds and stuff go crazy for that stuff... or used to at least :P she asked if I wanted to buy some, but I said I didn't need to... then I go home and hey, I have a box of it! :P
[19:45:36] mrptptpt: haven't tried that yet, but I guess now I can see what the fuss is all about

Heat Turned Off / Phil's Blog / Jerker / Blogquizzes

In other news, I now know why this apartment's been very cold for the past few weeks. It seems that someone here has still been fighting the management in the media over the evictions. I read in the newspaper yesterday that the management decided to respond by turning off the heat to the building that the person lives in, plus at least one other building. I thought that one of the buildings was mine, but didn't have any firm evidence. When I got home tonight, I found this note:

"All tenants who would like to join the group for arbitration for Loss of Service (no heat for 4 weeks) and compensation, please get in touch with Laura at 271-6267. Arbitration fee: $25. Mr. George Metrakos will be representing the tenants free of charge. Deadline is Friday."

Hmm... should I get in on this? The heat seems to be back on for now, but it was certainly very cold before! That explains my cold hands and such, which I was complaining about!

Phil emailed me and my sister a link to his blog: Theological Toddler. Super stuff, since he was telling us last night how he'd put pictures of himself and cows there once he gets to Texas. (no gun racks on cars and stuff, since they do have the right to bear arms down there! o_O)

Someone linked me to another addicting game: JT's Blocks. This will probably be another time-suck on the Internet, but what else is new?

His stats:
All-Time High Score: 46225
Average Score: 14292.421
Total Games Played: 2898

I looked up the Swedish boy name "Jerker" for Dawn on Behind the Name: apparently, both "Jerk" and "Jerker" are Old Swedish variants of Erik, which is a cognate of Eric. Sweet... I'll have to tell her that sometime, then! :)

See ya later, Phil... good times at Citrus' place!

I stupidly forgot my bus pass when I went out today, but there was a kind lady at the bus stop who gave me $2.25 when I asked her for $5 in change. When I transferred buses, I was scared that I'd gotten on the wrong one, but it turned out to be the one I needed. I got to the high school just in time for Eric to pull in and pick me up. We discussed traffic and answering his phone when Steph and Jeremy called separately. (I tried answering it when it rang, but all I seemingly managed to do was adjust the ringer volume... sigh)

We picked up Christon, Steph, and Jeremy... we had good timing when we went to get Jeremy because his West Coast Express train pulled in just as we got to that parking lot. Then we discussed a lot of Daniel Fellowship affairs, and how Jack Bauer of 24 was the object of Internet one-liners like Chuck Norris is now. No idea how that started, but it's interesting to note as a phenomenon.

We also talked about how our moms wanted to take the cheap / free buses (New Year's Eve / Day, or the West Coast Express) randomly around town just because of the price. ("Oh, let's just get on the bus and go somewhere because it's free!") My dad doesn't like the idea of going on the whole route of the West Coast Express just because... Jeremy says that there's a cheap tour bus thing set up in Kelowna that tells you about the stops. Heh, that could work for our moms!

When we got to Citrus' place, we quickly settled in to watch everyone play SUPER MARIO STRIKERS. Phil, Danielle, Citrus, his sister Cordia, Nathan, and Ricky were there already... Joe, Benny, and Anthony arrived later on. We had lots of snack food and homemade shepherd's pie to eat. The aforementioned game is pretty violent for a soccer game: turtle shells and banana peels thrown onto the field when you hit someone who doesn't have the ball, random appearances of Bowser, characters screaming when you push them into an invisible electric fence, etc. I decided not to play, since I'm not that good at those type of games. But it was sure fun to watch!

Steph invited me to go play mini-golf with her and Vivian on Monday, but I declined since I'm not good at that. Turns out the parents might not be going away since Grandma could be heading to the cousins' house: no need to escape! At one point, there were three game systems on the three TVs they had downstairs! Cordia, Joe, and Jeremy played KATAMARI DAMACY: it seemed quite amusingly interesting since all you do is roll around and pick up random objects! (cans, children, dogs, signs, cows, vegetables, etc.) I declined to play that one too, since I like watching others... and that one was too hilarious!

We joked around about Texas-sized portions and the heat there (40 degrees C already?!), PoCo, and Erin's embarrassing stories.. that girl has 'em from conception, what with chocolate and cheap parents! Phil's leaving on Saturday, so won't be able to do an SLB meal with us Richmondites.. too bad! Nathan and Jeremy were both Googling their names out of boredom on separate days and found my blog! I apologized out of habit, but Nathan said he was quite happy. Jeremy didn't mind either, so all's cool. He says he's starting a new programming / quality assurance job in Burnaby pretty soon: it's more in line with what he wants to do, even if he doesn't have a break from the Yaletown furniture / warehouse job!

Christon, Benny, and Danielle talked more about Daniel Fellowship affairs. Somehow, they got onto the topic of age: being relatively new, I guess Benny doesn't really know how old we all are. He thought Danielle was 23 and that I was 24, when I dared him to guess my age! Then again, he also learned that Steph and I are sisters... yes, flatter us first by guessing a reasonable low number!

After the games, it was time to watch SIN CITY. The Richmond Crew watched the very beginning of it, then it was time to head home since it was a long drive. Eric thought that my mom should watch it since she now wants Jack Bauer to kill people ("Stab him! Yes!")... then again, he also thinks that Riverview (the local mental institution, where Erin's mom works) is my future home. I don't think so, buddy! (I just laugh at random things and make various immature jokes about poop! In more somber discussion, we also talked about that suspicious fire that killed a mom and four kids, including most of the Etibako family. That's terrible! The pastor for the past weekend's conference (Sam Owusu) was quoted in the paper too!

I got home to find two messages on my screen. Corey had messaged me just after I left to say: "That's a lot of seaweed." Oh good, it got there! Dawn said, "Hey, you are the name expert. Any idea what the Swedish boy name "Jerker" means by any chance? Everyone here [in Beijing] is saying it's just a name with no meaning, but I think all names have some meaning or stem from somewhere... let me know!" No idea on that one, as I'm so not a name expert... maybe I'll have to consult Behind The Name!

Nine-Letter Words / Musings / Quizzes

When I woke up, I found that the cable was out, so I took a shower and spent some time reading the newspaper until I remembered my backup. The cable was back as of 3:10, though! I also called Eric at 12:50 to make final plans for this afternoon... you can bet I'll be in the school parking lot at 5:50 if I leave by 5:25 or so! This bash is gonna ROCK! :D

I just made a NINE-letter word in Bookworm ("squatters"), and an eight-letter one yesterday ("stations"). (I made the eight-letter word "quelling" some time ago, too!) Also, I just got a white diamond on the word "rid" because I used two blue jewels in that word. Unfortunately, I couldn't use that because I had to scramble the letters available to me already. Oh well.

I do NOT want him. I can do better than someone who can't even spell "definitely," "necessarily," or "satellites" properly... and makes various excuses, each less plausible than the last. If this makes me a spelling / grammar whore, so be it. I suppose he'll always have a bit of my heart, but I just KNOW there are humorous people out there with good spelling skills! :P

Note: How my LJ friends waste their time online / LJ Ninja / LJ Drama / LJ Inner Darkness / LJ Easily Amused / LJ Starring in A Disaster Movie / the kind of LJ Christian I am / LJ Addiction / LJ Goes To Hogwarts blogquizzes. (by Christine, Kaiti, Random, Tori, Amanda deLassus, Brenda Odom, and Luke)

After a bunch of emails which I won't bore you with (Steph said that Joe's going, which doesn't really help me), Eric's said that Danielle's dropped out of the carpool thing and Christon's in as long as he doesn't turn into a gargoyle (sure...), so we'll see. I'm not sure if I was told this almost at the last minute, but it would not be productive to refuse to go because of that. (must restrain inner child! :P) Apparently, I can have a ride if I bus to Cambie / Jacombs. Let's see... according to Translink, I can be there in 20 minutes if I take the 407 and then the 410. My sister thinks I'll be spending the day in Vancouver... I don't need any more excuses to spend money, thanks! o_O

Thanks to looking stuff up on Translink, I burned my Sapporo Ichiban noodles. Good thing it wasn't the miso flavor, but merely the original. I was going to go out for dinner, but I know I need to save money and also restrain my inner consumer whore! Guess it's turkey for dinner tonight...

Here's another email from Steph, quoting Danielle saying that she'll go in earlier to "help" (read: NAG) Citrus: "PHEW! I don't even wanna know what a trip to POCO would be like without Danielle acting as a light at the end of the tunnel. Going to POCO is like the Israelites' journey in the OT... very long and arduous... PS: nag a little extra for me! :D :D :D" (that reminds me that Vivian S. is going to Israel for two weeks sometime soon for her birthright trip... it's free, too!)

Got one from Jeremy, too: he doesn't know if the pickup from the Skytrain station is the best for him, since he may be running late because of work. Ah, I guess we'll all see... I hope Eric's on MSN tomorrow so I can coordinate times with him! I'd have called him if I hadn't napped from 7 to 10:45!

I took a nap since I was feeling tired, and dreamed that I was holding an AIM conversation with Sara (onnawufei). Weird, since I've never communicated with her over IM. Then I dreamed that everything in my fridge expired on May 19, especially the chocolate milk. o_O

I managed to avoid temptation and NOT email someone to wish him a happy birthday. Then again, it IS only an email... eh, I'll do it now before I change my mind. He can just not reply to it like he normally did in the course of our friendship, haha. (although to be fair, he DID reply to some... including the first one I sent him at his own request, haha) Besides, we haven't talked in a year, so it should be easier? Bleh.

What is my one weakness?
What is the source of my power?
If you defeated me in battle, what would you do?
If I defeated you in battle, what would you do?

I win. You die.You never had a chance. I crush you with barely an effort, tear you apart, and eat a taco salad out of your skull. Did you really expect another outcome?
I win. I spare you.You don't even come close to defeating me. But, because of some semblance of human emotion, I decide not to kill you. I send you on your way, to wander the Earth as an eternal loser. And you are SUCH a loser.
I win. Enjoy your tower. After a grueling battle, I manage to defeat you. I admit, you knew my weaknesses better than I did. As a reward for your valor in battle, I grant you your life. I lock you in a tower on the far side of the world. You are cursed to remain there until your true love sets you free. Sound good? Well, unfortunately, I locked your true love in another tower on the other side of the world with the exact same curse. Good luck with that one.
Tie.I don't know how it happened, but you managed to bring the battle to a stalemate. You are unable to defeat me, and I am too bored with the fight to kill you. So we can spend eternity locked in this epic battle, or we can go out for tacos. Personally, I'm thinking tacos.
You win. Impossible! Against all odds, you manage to defeat me! I can't believe it. You must be a woman, or a very feminine man. Well, there you go. I'm dead. Happy now? Because every one of my exes are.
