Homemade blueberry pie, CARS, flatbread, and teasing me

When Eric picked me up, he gave me a dubious look when I said that I had to get a cuter hat for tonight - the other one was too BLUE! Yes, I am weird. Hey, maybe I want to look cuter than usual when I actually go out to see my friends, which happens more rarely these days! We talked about the lunch for Pastor Bob in two weeks (NOT Sunday as I originally thought!), Chinese Eric (PHO IS NOT ROMANTIC!), what I was doing to make the Canucks lose (especially in last night's shootout - THAT IS NOT MY FAULT!), Steph and Lisa's "news," passports, my being "drunk," my hoping someone didn't hate me for not really talking to them for the past two days (NOT ERIC HO!), stupid drivers, and more prior to getting on Kevin's street. Then his car was essentially boxed in; very annoying!

We found Kevin putting the finishing touches on some homemade curry, so I asked Eric to open the container of wasabi peanuts for me. HE TWISTED THE LID OFF! Damn, I felt like an idiot! My brain didn't even think of THAT at all! At least I got it open, which was my motivation in bringing it tonight! Geoffrey brought some sushi, and Albert brought some shrimp - we haven't seen Albert in at least a year or so, maybe! Everyone had pasta salad, shrimp, sushi, curry, green onion flatbread (like green onion pancakes), sugar and honey in the homemade chai tea (Eric's dietary restrictions?!), homemade blueberry pie, ice cream, and more while talking about Surrey and White Rock / youth / working / RPG / police work opportunities / STARCRAFT II / food health inspections / Houston / Canucks / J.J. Bean's owner being a Christian / Dan Hamhuis, Wally Buono, and David Booth also being open about their Christian faith / annoying phone calls / the best way to reach me / answering machines / IM.

Eric had brought quite a selection of movies, like BATMAN BEGINS / ALICE IN WONDERLAND / EASY RIDER / BATMAN AND ROBIN / THE DARK KNIGHT. Geoffrey was looking through it, and I told him that Eric DID love his Batman movies! We ended up watching Cars - well, almost all of it. There was a scratch near the end of the movie, and Kevin couldn't find his remote afterwards! We could pretty much tell how it ended, anyway - Eric and Kevin had to discuss budget stuff for a bit later, too. On the way home after getting out of the tough parking situation, Eric bugged me about the Super Bowl - yes, of COURSE my Internet friends will likely discuss the game on Facebook and LJ! (so I cannot escape even if I wish to) Also talked about my "best friend" Paul (HELL NO!), Randal, menthol, lotion, gum, my not being on drugs, crab, certain things which seemed really American since we've NEVER heard of them, my making him deaf when he suggested something to do with Chinese Eric, how I was NOT going to eat the entire thing of wasabi peanuts in one sitting now that I had it open, the church website, his sound or worship duties, and more.

Kalamata Greek Taverna and Dragon Ball = GOOD TIMES!

Just before I made reservations for tonight (under "Lisa" because they thought "Leslie" was "Wesley" - I wish my parents gave me another name!), Jon called me to say that Paul couldn't make it; I totally understand his reasoning! Money issues are NO FUN! He said that if I convinced people to make it to his gig before the drummer moves to Scotland, he'd let me in for free and buy me beer and such. HAHAHA, nice! I'm sure he saw Nate's RSVP on Facebook, too. Teunis also wished me a good one via MSN when I told him about this, heh.

When Chinese Eric got here, he chilled for a few minutes while I tried looking for the 4 GB drive unsuccessfully. On the way to the restaurant, we talked about health issues / California specialists / personal stuff / the States / my bowl which he forgot / energy / parking / lamb / traffic. At Kalamata, Deb and Dylan were there already - Chrystal, Harmony, Jeremy, and Mark showed up later. We talked about pregnancy / childbirth (Deb is seven months along), where white Eric was (turns out he forgot - I'll roast him on Friday!), Robin probably forgetting as well, Jon's whereabouts, life updates, analyzing the structure of the menu text, texting Nathan to see where HE was (really late?), red wine / white wine, meat, fish, church, biking, Ciel, immigration, Nate's dad REALLY planning ahead, Asian stuff, durian, Randal, work, taking pictures, salad, and more. Harmony had to leave early to bus out to the UBC gig, so I opened presents AFTER she left, hahaha.

I got Bananagrams: The Official Book (Joe Edley) from Deb and Dylan (word games!), Passive-Aggressive Notes: Painfully Polite and Hilariously Hostile Writings (Kerry Miller) / For Your Information: Does Size Matter? (Editors of Apandisis Publishing) with bookmarks and a card from Nathan, an owl "LOVE!" piggy bank and "Family is one of nature's greatest masterpieces" eco-journal from Jon and Harmony, and a card from Chrystal. Later, Chinese Eric took me to Dragon Ball; I ordered a mango-lychee while he had a supreme milk tea. Then we chilled at my place again for a while, and read about "The 27 Club." I managed to find the 4 GB stick, which is good - yes, I put it in a Ziploc bag so I wouldn't accidentally misplace it or something! We talked about his wishes for a good time coming true, life stages, health, and more prior to his leaving. Now Vanessa is talking to me when I just want to progress further in my game! *sigh*

Stressful laundry = NO QUARTERS! / Priscilla, Siobhan, Robin, Shelley, Scott W., and Corey

While doing laundry, I was very annoyed and stressed: the good dryer's coin slot was stuck, so it wasn't accepting any money! The other dryer took quarters only, so I had to go to the pharmacy next door and request change for a toonie! Seriously, putting my clothes in the dryer would have only taken a minute, not TWENTY when all I wanted to do was play more games! UGH!

Siobhan says she can't come to the birthday event because of passport issues, Scott W. has courses to take which conflict with the time, Shelley says she can't because she's only in town for a friend's doctor appointment, and Robin says he CAN come since he shouldn't have any problems getting there. I'm going to have to go to the BBQ tomorrow, if only to promote my birthday event, har har. Priscilla also added me to Facebook, haha. Corey messaged me on Skype about emulators, CASTLEVANIA, NINJA GAIDEN, abusing save states, CONTRA, a "30 lives" code, MEGA MAN, and more.

When Teunis finally got up at 2:35, we discussed mold (in Robin's washroom?!) / rot / towels / gum / slurping / Jordan / effects / Burnaby woods having mold / reactions / going walkabout / his showering and laundry / coughing / sniffling / lime / coconut (shavings) / pie / Sidekicks pasta / allergies and sensitivities / foiling Eric's phone calls AGAIN / OBLIVION / accidentally packing his double boiler / Yaohan / going over to Jazmin's tomorrow overnight to nerd out over the SIMS, of all things! We also discussed water, potatoes / carrots / onions / beets / kidney beans (IRON!) as dinner, the old-time radio shows, kosher Jewish wine, downtime, baseball, burgers, lettuce, frozen yogurt, grudges, not lying, and more. I emailed Cindy about lunch after tomorrow, too. Talked to Kenny briefly about phobias and trolling friends via Skype messages, which is always good.

Called Steph to tell her about the half-wine / half-water Roman combo - NO, I AM NOT DRUNK! She also told me that Mom's friend was Uncle Bick from Australia - OH YEAH, I REMEMBER HIM! James said hello to me in formal Spanish over YM, so I told him to drop the formality, hahaha! Talked about my alone time, his liking the SIMS, video game music, dessert, fried food, pumpkin / coconut creme / banana creme / apple / cherry pies, his bad day, Almond Joys / Bounty bars having coconut, Rocky Road, mailing stuff, GUITAR WORLD being way better YEARS ago, magazine subscriptions, and more. Amy Liao also unfriended me on Facebook, sigh.

Skype and not being allowed to talk to computers / Loonies and quarters needed

Vented to Kenny on MSN (Skype! / not being allowed to "talk to computers" - WTF?) before doing laundry, which is always good. Found out that I need 14 more loonies for my laundry coins alone since I seem to have a surplus of quarters, and I figure I'll get a bunch more loonies and quarters for more laundry money from the bank tomorrow before / after finally mailing Dianne's stuff and the HST thing - three envelopes for that alone?! YIKES!

When Teunis got home, he complained that he couldn't get in the door. I didn't see what the problem was, until I remembered that my laundry basket was probably in the way. Said he picked up some movies from a friend, and got a grape aloe drink / yogurt drinks / canned jackfruit / coconut jelly drinks. We discussed European sweets, licorice, the Dutch, salmiakki, parks, Rhiannon and her decided dislike for Chinese food, Chinese sausage, my mom's melodramatic reaction to his moving out ("OMG! ARE YOU NOT FRIENDS ANYMORE?!"), Greek yogurt, GAME OF THRONES being addictive, harmony in the home, gum, Kaili, Robin, and more. Called Steph to discuss the Pride Parade, last night, Angela (NOT Andrea), Dad's birthday card, and Lisa.

Countdown is accelerated... yay for salvaging friendship!

When Teunis got home, I was getting bottled water from the fridge - he said hi, but I ignored it in favor of going to the bathroom. Immature? Oh, quite possibly! Then he went out later (I assume to talk to Tess), so I at least gained some time to make noodles with frozen veggies for dinner. I saw burgers, Chapman's black cherry frozen yogurt, and garlic / onion bagels (his poor co-workers since he won't use gum!) when I was doing that, but that's not my business. I did get a chance to talk to James, though - always good!

A while later when I went to see just what havoc he was wreaking in the kitchen, he said that he'd talked to Steph, who confirms (with her trauma training) that he should move out right away. He also said something about cutting me off for a bit and not trusting me to not blow up and act insane. Let's just say we talked about our own feelings of safety, Steph thinking that I have unfinished business with Korey which is my own stuff to deal with (sharing space?!), my emotions / crying, cooperation, communication, his not expecting to see the "unsafe" thing online, trauma, not taking things personally, gum, his giving me a laptop bag even though he hated what I did, his bike, and banishment. We also discussed reminding each other of the good things in our friendship (names / cooking / kids / joys / appreciation of cooking / quirkiness), NOT controlling me, saving our friendship (so he apparently won't cut me off), his thinking that I chewed gum / played video game music more when they were brought up, and other stuff.

I think that his moving out is a good thing since both of us will feel safer, and this allows our friendship to be saved. I think we both feel better - we shook hands and hugged later, too. After he ate a burger with mustard, we talked about lazy programming / cars / Linux / Mac / Windows / viruses / corrections / food storage / Jazmin / Robin / cleaning / frozen yogurt / durian gelato / awkwardness / dating advice / Asians / audio invading his dreams / my intent with that message. At least I'll get my space back soon, too. I had to steal Nathan's idea of FINAL COUNTDOWN, hahaha!

CHROMOSOME 6, Michael Crichton, pot pies, and Chinese Eric

Not surprised that the family went to Tsui Woo for lunch, haha. Thank goodness I got out of it! Teunis and I discussed my "hiding," frozen yogurt, KNOCKING on doors, his feeling like crap when he got up, chocolate, doughnuts, experimenting with potatoes, communication, pot pies, Kaili's broken laptop (again) / the soldering iron, "visiting" with Kaili and returning the laptop, and more. Chinese Eric came on MSN and discussed the Boston series with me - yes, we should hang out soon when his health allows! Finally had time to organize the seven latest books that Mom gave me: As the Crow Flies (Jeffrey Archer), Chromosome 6 (Robin Cook), Three Complete Novels: The Andromeda Strain / The Terminal Man / The Great Train Robbery (Michael Crichton), The Best-Laid Plans (Sidney Sheldon), The Cider House Rules (John Irving), The Client (John Grisham), and The Voice Of The Night (Dean Koontz) - quite the haul!

Naps, another frosty reception, not caring, no complaints ever, and self-consciousness

Had a nap in the afternoon yesterday, which was much-needed. Turns out Steph is going to Rogers Arena with Dad for the viewing party, which is what she said when I called her - sigh. Teunis got home at 10:30, so of course that guaranteed him a frosty reception (dinner with his younger brother or not - SOME MEN never say stuff when they'll be late!), although I did thank him for setting up the shelves. Then he wondered what was up when I cut off the Rock 101 streaming to play a dramatic breakup Youtube video that Elaine posted (he thought it was bad?!) - hey, it was certainly funny!

I was actually enjoying the solitude, too! We talked about Jordan's gaming characters / reality vs. fantasy / Andrew / Teresa and her kids Caitlin and Roland being into MINECRAFT / the bitch Jasmine and her ex Dave / a certain misogynistic person named Mickey G that Krista used to know who REALLY hated women / Robin being loud (I don't care) / communication / weight-lifting before bedtime, heh. I'm probably going to go to Jeremy's for the hockey game, just so I don't have to hear complaining about hockey / the ranting / the "endless" coverage from someone who has NO IDEA how IMPORTANT this game or hockey in general is! No, I'm NOT letting him win - but I'd rather be with knowledgeable friends!

THE DRUG ISN'T MADE ANYMORE?! WTF?! / 1-0 WIN MEANS ONE WIN AWAY!

Talked to Robin briefly on Facebook chat, which is good. However, I got to the London Drugs pharmacy only to find out that the drug which Dr. Ruby prescribed me isn't made anymore - what the?! Guess I'll be going back there tomorrow! Teunis came home briefly to say that he and Kaili were meeting up to go to Lee's (a used clothing store in Surrey - oh, Surrey...) and he'd be back after the game. Of course, he wasn't surprised that downtown was packed already at 2 PM onwards; the bridges were basically stopped, and he was frustrated. Hey, I'm glad that downtown is packed, as I hear the same about the Skytrain! We also discussed insects, eggs, green beans, powder, expensive playoff tickets, and more.

Eric buzzed me on MSN to say (in hick redneck fashion) that he wasn't going to Fellowship - oh good, because I wasn't planning on it, either! Yes, I did have something for Cindy to give to Dianne, but I'll figure it out later. CBC played Matthew Good's WEAPON over a montage of shots from this round of playoffs... YES! This Milestone's promotion for "Girls Night on Games Night" is seriously wrong, to me. I know PLENTY of girls / women who are hockey fans, and would rather watch a hockey game with the girls (and the guys!) rather than have a girls night out that conflicted with the game! WE WON THE GAME 1-0 ... YAY FOR MAXIM LAPIERRE! ONE WIN AWAY FROM THE FIRST STANLEY CUP IN FRANCHISE HISTORY! Also discovered that William Murphy had unfriended me on Facebook - FINE THEN!


Boston Bar BC Changes name to Vancouver Bar for the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Boston is quickly becoming a bad – and banned – word in British Columbia. Not only did the Boston Pizza restaurant chain quickly change its name to Vancouver Pizza when the hometown Canucks drew the Bruins in the Stanley Cup finals last week, but an entire town has removed Beantown from its handle.

Boston Bar, a community of about 800 people located 130 miles northeast of Vancouver, has renamed itself Vancouver Bar, ordering replacement signs for June. Even in such a tiny town, there's a Tim Hortons restaurant down the road – but you won't be able to buy any Boston Creme doughnuts. The beloved Canadian doughnut chain started by the former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman of the same name is no longer selling products in B.C. with the name "Boston" in them.

HARMONY excess, escalators, Canucks pride, Leanne, Vanessa, and GELATO!

I spent a LOT of time removing over 1000 Facebook apps, then decided to play some Subwoofer in the hopes that the admittedly repetitive nature of FUZZY LOGIC would get Teunis up and about even if he wasn't feeling good. Hey, he's the one who said he needed to go to the bank! :P (it worked, though!) Vanessa called at 1:45 to see if I was still up for Metrotown: OF COURSE, so I was outta here at 2 after making a doctor's appointment for 2:30 tomorrow and calling Steph to tell her about that - NO, I AM NOT IN THE THROES OF MENOPAUSE, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Vanessa picked me up at 2, and introduced me to her brother Mike's Australian girlfriend Leanne, who's here for her other brother Rich's wedding. We were off to Metrotown to see if we could find any suitable clog shoes - after looking in any number of shoe stores (Freedman / Aldo / Guess? / the Bay / etc.), we couldn't! Discussed the spiders in Australia / bubble tea / Sydney / New South Wales / abuse / standing up for yourself / family stuff / rhyming names / Teunis / Kyle / Krista / having the last name HO / Wayne / Newfoundland / Orange Julius / New Westminster / escalators / Amarosa restaurant (Italian food!) / La Casa Gelato / AC-DC / perfume / lamb / pasta / more. I saw HARMONY BARBER, MALE AND FEMALE HARMONY, HARMONY HAIRWORKS, MR. HO's restaurant, and plenty of Canucks flags and such! I even had the GO CANUCKS GO! flavor at La Casa Gelato, and got a Canucks shirt for $10 off regular price at Winners! Then again, I also saw KUMHO Tires... oh my! Got home and discussed Robin, personal stuff, being nocturnal, shelves, a week's deadline, and more with Teunis.

UGLY 8-1 losses... but yay for Jessie, Carmen, and Robin's gypsy tunes!

Jessie and Carmen added me to Facebook, which is cool. (but Winnie Pang UNFRIENDED me, which is NOT COOL!) Talked to Robin about stuff, which is always nice. Vanessa says she may not have to go to Metrotown, since she found some cute red shoes - interesting! Teunis and I talked about commercials, gambling, sacrilegiousness, penalties, game misconducts, fines, Brandi, the hockey game, Aaron Rome's clean hit on Nathan Horton (sending him to the hospital), going walkabout, lotion, perfume, work, Jasmine / noise, plans for tomorrow, and more. The game was filled with Boston goals, a few in the last seven minutes... 8-1?!

Hammerfall, strange stories, distributing swords, David S. redux, and blah foods

Teunis and I discussed potato pancakes, soy sauce, being evil about hockey, Robin, Scott, Jordan, the bands Tyr and Hammerfall / playlists, the nuts he got last week going bad already, 9/11, "Strange Women Lying in Ponds and Distributing Swords as a Government System" (MONTY PYTHON and the Holy Grail), violent Christian history, his religion's metal music (DECIMATE AND DECAPITATE!), and my liking for strange tales like the witchcraft stories and Lady Jane Grey when I was ten or so. We also talked about cheddar and sour cream chips (he LIKES it!), applesauce, onions, garlic, his friends Andrew and Teresa, ginger, RPG, dual Rock 101 streams for the radio shows (out of sync?), and more prior to my going to bed. Vanessa called me just now - yes, I'm still up for leaving the house, haha! Then David S. decided to add me himself - okay, then!

Teunis and I discussed hair, H.P. Lovecraft / Cthulhu, the Necromicron, sci-fi, Fox News, US news not being trustworthy, Al-Jazeera in Egypt, the CRTC banning usage-based billing (for now?), being night people, the pork in the freezer, Windows vs. Linux, STEAM, Android emulators, culture, and relationships. When I said that I was taking Friday as a "Day of Rest," he tried arguing it from the Biblical perspective - I do what I want, and "resting in God's Word" isn't going to cut it tonight! After the last few days around here, I need the break - and Sunday isn't going to be restful what with church / Committee Meeting / CNY dinner! Perhaps if this chocolate is still around, I could share it whenever the next BS is, if I'm up for going to that one! Talked about Vivian and other topics before he signed off - PHEW! I found that Candy had tried calling me at around 9:05 - HA! FOILED AGAIN!

When Teunis got back at 10, we discussed my staying home tomorrow too (my plan all along) / yogurt / sausage rolls (not really DINNER as such...) / replacement monitors and TV / seasoning cast-iron equipment / juice / new spatulas / pancakes / new shampoo / the collapsible closet / storage / shelves. Jordan bugging Angus and Phil for Wunderbars (dream)

All I remember about my dream is extremely crowded conditions at an outdoor fair like the PNE (but it wasn't that or Expo) - Phil and Angus were manning a couple of the ticket booths, and Jordan kept bugging them for "just another Wunderbar, please!!!" I also remember buying a LOT of ice cream tubs, and having to give some away to Teunis - Praline Orange, anyone? No idea why I had that except talking about Jordan, and the crowds at Yaohan / Aberdeen the last couple of days.

Teunis and I also talked (in real life) about nuclear war dreams - that sounds scary enough! Aiya! Robin also sent me a Facebook chat message asking whether I'd heard "the news" - since I have no idea what he's referring to, I'll check Facebook... OUCH! :( Oh, and now Ben / Alyson (_brainsick_ / sufi87) has messaged me - now, that's a blast from the past! I'll just annoy him, since I'm not in the mood for endless IM conversation with randoms right now!

I went out shopping just now, since I decided I could use the walk after being at home for the past week or so. Went in through the Bay, realized I was hungry, contemplated the busy food court / Tim Horton's, and finally just had an oatmeal cookie from the muffin shop since it wasn't crazy with people. After a long time at Sears, I finally found two pairs of dark sweatpants with pockets / two dark undershirts / a few pairs of dark underwear which actually fit. I didn't know that Vanity Fair made three-packs of underwear; that would have saved me SO much time and money in the past! Note to self: Look in the back next time! After that, I went to Big Orange to get a mango bubble tea; then I went to Shoppers Drug Mart to see if they had any brandy beans (or indeed any liqueur-filled chocolates) for Chantelle or myself. They did not, and it appeared to be the same story at London Drugs! While I was at London Drugs anyway, I bought some peach green tea to consume right away since I realized I was still thirsty - the cookie didn't help matters, I'm sure! I also did get the pomegranate aloe drink just because I was at the store anyway, and the walk home wouldn't be especially arduous with heavier boxes of stuff like it was on the 18th. When I got home, I cursed myself for forgetting to buy a thin dark pair of socks... a few minutes later, I actually FOUND my week-old BRAND NEW Secret sock, so it turned out to be a good thing that I forgot!

Jon emailed us about some Vespers choir thing for Advent; since it's on December 5 and a Sunday to boot, I think I'll just take the time for myself as usual. Also, thank goodness Billie seems to understand that the location for our hangout needs to be changed since my bus pass is still lost! Maybe the time needs to be changed as well, but I never know if we're going for lunch until we actually do! Haha, I guess I'll call her in that event!
