Danielle sent me an Evite for a birthday / farewell at Citrus' house next Sunday - you BET that I'm going, ESPECIALLY after I was cheated out of the LAST hangout by K! (even if I *did* get the computer to myself for once, as per Eric...) Corey (whose finger turned green today :P) linked me to a Pool Pissing Prank on Youtube; love you, but NO! Then he linked me to an Autopsy Prank - much better! Julie C. also confirmed me on Facebook - as I was telling Eric yesterday, I'm surprised that she's old enough for an account there! (although I guess all and sundry could get one... if Phil's grandma could have one, ANYBODY can!)

The customer is NOT always right - thanks for the "sucky customers" site, David K. and Candace!

This is the latest I've slept in for some time: maybe my body is finally doing me a favor? Then again, I did sleep at 1:30 or so after bidding Corey goodnight when I determined that I was too tired to continue any Wordscraper games! I had an interesting dream, though:

* I was in the middle of a shopping mall plaza with a guy who was totally my type. Noticed a Safeway with green and pink colors, and said that I needed to go buy some stuff there. He grinned and held my hand tightly - of course he'd go with me!

* Once we were there, Fidela informed us that we only had a time limit of twenty minutes. If we didn't stick to that, she'd go to dinner without us. She suggested I buy gum and dried fruit, which was in the back of the store with the produce and candy.

* I noticed that the Dentyne Ice gum was on sale - three of the packs for $5? Decided to grab three or four of the mint-chocolate kind, then headed for the frozen food section for some Stouffer's microwaveable meals. Suddenly, there was an announcement that there'd been a power outage in that section ONLY. (don't ask me why it didn't affect the whole store - dreams do NOT reflect reality!)

* Since that scotched my plans for meat, I reluctantly left the store empty-handed. Dream Boyfriend reassured me, and said things would be okay - off we went to the dinner! On the way, we heard my brother playing violin and singing, and stopped to listen. We sat down on the grass, and I mentioned that I wanted to put my head in his lap - he said that he'd been waiting for me to say something, so I lay down and did this. It was nice to have him stroking my hair and murmuring little endearments, hehe.

* As if by mutual decision, we both got up a bit later and headed to dinner. On the way there, he turned into a father figure - that scared me! Thank goodness he was back to normal when we reached the restaurant. The memorable people in our group: two little kids (one of whom looked like Brandon Tam from Sunday School), and one wizened grandma who didn't understand English at all - she ate a LOT of rice, though! The dream ended when Dream Boyfriend was finally getting up the courage to hold hands with me under the table, heh.

No real triggers for this that I can see. I've heard of the "skin hunger" that most people have, but I don't think I'm a victim of that quite yet! I could be wrong, though!

There is pre-1976 stuff in the church?!

Cleaned up at the church, and found money in the drawers! Ranted to Eric, talked to Danielle / Cindy / Grace / Nathan / Andrea (Elaine's wedding was unconventional) / Jen / Dawn (birthdays / this week / Facebook), said hi to Citrus and Kevin, and helped unscrew a couple of things. Cindy found MOUSE POO inside the cupboards - EWW! Christon found three very old pictures in frames / four "bases," Nathan found OLD Spirit in Song kiddy songbooks, Lesley found a LOT of old Sunday School books, and Kevin found THREE boxes for chafing dishes. Man, we've accumulated a lot of stuff over 33 years if Rich found old stuff from 1976, and stuff from before we used the church! Vanessa says the hot pot was good, and Melia and Angus went all "redneck" on us - amusing! ("Melia, I don't know why I done married you!" "Well... um, never mind! I was going to say YOU COULDN'T HAVE DONE NO BETTER!") Dylan invited us for Earl's, but Eric and I declined. (Nathan also had to decline due to Sunday prep - good thing we went home early!)

Calla says we'll technically be "visiting" the church on Oct. 5 - I said that it would be WEIRD for people like me and Daniel to be in a new "home" church, since we've been at this building all our lives. True, but she was away for six years, so it won't be quite so odd. We agreed that we'll be so confused the first couple of months: the new building needs one of those maps like they have in malls! ("YOU ARE HERE" with a legend indicating where things are... kitchen / bathrooms / fire exits / classrooms / etc.) The gas price discrepancies are CRAZY: 134.9 at one place, and 122.9 across the street! Eric tried saying stuff about bling / proper expression / French stuff / the dinner. I think I've found new things, for sure.

LJ is down, so I'll be Facebooking it up (as per Jeremy) all day. At least, the server is taking too long to respond. Also added Danielle L. to Facebook - yay for more Wordscraper buddies! (and as of 4:30, LJ works again - SWEET!)

Baby Name Intervention will send someone an anonymous email saying their baby name choice is a Bad, Bad Thing. The form letters (different for Creative Spelling, Just Bizarre, etc.) even explain why it's a bad choice. You just don't have to do it in person. :D [of course I got this from the Bad Baby Names Forum!]

Being a sore loser / POO CALENDAR!

Bingo of the night so far:

HOOKAS (199 points) - against Will C. [3W, 5W]
ZITS (269 points) - against Jessica K. [5W, 4W]

Steve L. just played his own last name against me, haha!

I'm a very sore loser - I should never have signed up for certain things! Corey thinks I should cheat with BS acronyms that aren't real words, and is trying to cheer me up with poo jokes - weirdo. :P "Your Scrabble kung-fu is not powerful enough." Yeah, that would explain it.

Vanessa emailed me the pictures from last night, so things are pretty good! Says she'll send the special one to Steph PRONTO. That would be very cool. :D

I'd upload the huge versions of the pictures, but they show my imperfections - NO THANKS! *bleh*

Posing with Viv's 2009 Poo Calendar:

Yes, that DOES say "What's Your Poo Telling You?" The table got a general laugh out of it, hahaha! She saw it and knew I'd like it - I must show this to Jeremy, hehe. (there was this time he saw a toilet-related news story and thought of me, after all...)

Bunnies do NOT belong in vegetable soup!

Why did I have a dream that involved Candace and Drew housing their bunny Dolce in a bowl of vegetable soup?! Phil was there to help me look after a bunch of kids; Brian and Padraic were resourceful and helped our other friends with computer issues. Odd!

Hey, Candy's package arrived just now! Has a card with cute dogs, a beautiful Guardian Angel keychain, letter stickers, and acid-free bubble stickers: sweet! :D

Vivian's gift was THE BEST EVER!

Eric picked me and Billie up after 7:30, and after surviving a false alarm about Billie's cellphone, we made it to Ironwood. He asked if I'd done weird things today... you don't want to know! We advised Billie to slam / lock the car doors, heh. At Browns Social House, they didn't have enough room for us - Eric was resourceful and suggested Boston Pizza. Krista's friend Vanessa H. showed up with her and Teunis, and figured they didn't need our business since they didn't take reservations! We repaired to Boston Pizza instead, and I got Eric to give people a call / let them know of the venue change. Thank goodness I remembered Vivian and everyone else on the list which I forgot at home! (definitely grateful for FRIENDS!)

Jon managed to make it "on time" since Pastor John couldn't be at prayer meeting; Billie gave me a very nice bookmark with an Eleanor Roosevelt quote from her mom, Vanessa C. gave me some button-like shortbread cookies, Vivian S. gave me something in a blue bag which my sibs and I would appreciate, Christon and Jasmine apologized for not having any presents (but Jasmine had a card), and Nathan gave me a huge bag. Of course I hugged everyone! Harmony said HAPPY BIRTHDAY to me via phone, and Robin also had to say his birthday wishes via phone since he got confused as to what day it was! (it's not TUESDAY, haha!) Billie / Jen / Jasmine commiserated with me over stuff. Double celebration, indeed!

Talked about apple martinis, pizza, water, pasta, apple crisp, tough decisions, well-wishes, Tea Party, stupidity, Persian names (Billie is NOT Bangladesh!), how Billie was my "wife," Facebook, teaching, first-aid courses, replying to all birthday-related wall posts (Nate says I'm more thoughtful than he is: no blanket thank-yous for ME!), BBQ things, Christon dropping pizza on the floor, cleaning the church, Citrus, and more. Since Viv had to leave early, I decided to open her gift after most of us had eaten. I opened it, and laughed A LOT! It was What's Your Poo Telling You?: 2009 Daily Calendar. [Josh Richman and Anish Sheth, M.D.]

Of course I won't tell my mother about it, otherwise Vivian might go down a few spots in her estimation! Jasmine said I should post things from there into my journal - YOU BET! (got Vanessa to take a picture later - of COURSE she can show Steph!) Danielle, Citrus, and Vanessa got me a $30 Chapters gift card... Nathan got me Me v. Everybody: Absurd Contracts for an Absurd World [Dahlia Lithwick and Brandt Goldstein] and Cruel and Unusual Idiots: Chronicles of Meanness and Stupidity [Leland Gregory], while Billie got me Women Know Everything!: 3,241 Quips, Quotes, and Brilliant Remarks. [Karen Weekes] It was a good time out, for sure! (discussed David, Christine, Jeremy, Jesse, Steph coming home, Citrus, relationships, the Booty Logo / Booty Burgers / A-1 steak sauce / Simply Crap / Tutti-O Frutti-O Booty-O, and more!)

If you're waiting for midnight, don't fall asleep!

STAGEY (200 points) - against Jen L. [5W, 4W]
DRY (215 points) - against Karla M. [two 5W]

I was talking to Corey yesterday as usual; I was trying to convince him that flashing the computer might not make Firefox work (don't ask!) - hahaha! He got back on when I was going to get ready for bed, and said that he'd been waiting for midnight here, but he'd fallen asleep! Wished me a HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and commented that he'd go back to sleep now. Good idea, since I was going to do that myself! I've gotten quite a few wishes, which I'll consolidate into a post later. (Angela got on MSN to wish me one too, in fact!)

Even though it is my birthday, I gotta do laundry and take a shower! Hey, someone with my name added me on Facebook: this is ESPECIALLY COOL since we also both know Fidela! I was doing a search for people with my name, inspired by a group I'm in, heh. Might as well have a lot of wall activity. ;)

Billie came by, and we talked about her parents - nice book and bookmark! They say hi, which is good. David had something come up, and he's truly sorry about that. Good thing Eric can pick us up instead! (friends are good to have, yes!)

Shauna H. added me to Facebook - I remember the clarinet days in Band, yay! Also got advice: reflection is a good idea! It's the day before my birthday, and I've already gotten some wishes - SWEET! Billie called to see if she could come over early tomorrow: no problem, and it's a good thing David is picking me (us now) up early! :D [not like YAZMINE coming over three hours early without asking! :P] Made plans with Nathan and Jasmine, too - not surprised that he, Jen, and Christon are going to wander around Daiso for a bit before dinner!

James rocks because he is AWESOME! This is an appropriate song for me. :D

How It Is - Words by Peart, Music by Lee and Lifeson

Here's a little trap
That sometimes catches everyone
When today's as far as we can see
Faith in bright tomorrows
giving way to resignation
That's how it is - how it's going to be

It's such a cloudy day
Seems we'll never see the sun
Or feel the day has possibilities
Frozen in the moment -
the lack of imagination
Between how it is and how it ought to be

Here's a little trap
That sometimes trips up everyone
When we tire of our own company
Sometimes we're the last to see beyond the day's frustrations
That's how it is - how it's going to be

It's such a cloudy day
Seems we'll never see the sun
I feel the day is all uncertainty
Burning in the moment - trapped by the desperation
Between how it is and how it ought to be

Foot upon the stair
Shoulder to the wheel
You can't tell yourself not to care
You can't tell yourself how to feel

That's how it is
Another cloudy day

I feel better now that I've apologized...

Bingos of the night so far:

AUBERGE (138 points) - against Shelley R.-B.
UNAVOWED (65 points) - against Pat K.

High-scoring words of the night so far:

AUBERGE (138 points) - against Shelley R.-B. [2W, 4W, bingo]
RAZE (104 points) - against Angela V. [2W, 4W]
GOALIE (112 points) - against Jennifer F. [two 4W]

R.I.P., Rick Wright. [founding member of Pink Floyd; died today from cancer complications]

Eric called to say he'd be late, so I relayed that message to Dylan. On the way to Pastor John's, we discussed a bunch of things - I'm not ready for something from someone, for sure. I reflected on things during the meeting, and realized that some stuff could be poisonous too. (no birthdays!) Had spaghetti, meatballs, water, homegrown zucchini (that sucker is BIG!), salad, corn on the cob, mozzarella sticks, and mooncake for dinner! Was amused by a note on the kitchen whiteboard instructing the teacher for Grades 1, 5, and 8 (otherwise known as Noah / Hannah / Josiah) to keep grades outta the Cafeteria (AKA the kitchen) as there was a meeting that night at 6:30! (Karmie homeschools the kids) Asked Dylan to ask people for the September birthdays - as I told Eric on Friday, it would be pretty awkward if I did it! Found myself overreacting to Dylan's executive decisions regarding Raymond and Jeremy, even though balance is a pretty good reason for them. He also called me by my sister's name; although he immediately apologized, I still had to say his name in a forbidding tone!

Eric noticed that our cheques left the last letter off the word "church," so I had to roll my eyes at that. This next month will be very busy church-wise... so bad if you like familiar routine and structure like I do! Wrote down the months of everyone's birthdays in a list Dylan had in his notebook, since I am the BIRTHDAY QUEEN. Pastor John and Karmie look young in their wedding picture, we observed. Then I called Josiah "Joshua" on our way out... I complained to Eric about this, and he said that I'd had a rough week - yeah, that's true. (we discussed the pink foam of Jon's beer with accidental hoisin sauce and deliberate watermelon juice!)

I also apologized to him about something else, which he accepted. Ryan called him on the way home, too - nope, Eric shouldn't be trying to look up numbers on a screen in detail while driving, haha. (he of course realized this) According to my Caller ID, he'd called me as well... hmm. Got a non-existent event wall post from Karen I., and one from Ivan: he has a midterm on Thursday, so told me to eat and drink lots, haha. NICE! :D [Daniel has a meeting at SFU, and other stuff going on too!] {typing in ALL CAPS to Corey is good too!}

Pregnant women in markets

I don't know why I'm awake right now, especially since I slept at 1. This cumulative lack of sleep is NOT going to be good for me... never mind how much Eric jokes about how this is making up for all the times I slept in really late! All I know is that I had a dream of following a pregnant Karen Harris through a busy department store / food market. She had some complications which were apparently the same as her last pregnancy, and thus had to sit down and rest a lot! My sister said that we needed to sit down and eat, but we only had fifteen minutes because of the spills on the table. We chased someone else into the department store after casing the place, and picking out people from a huge group milling about near the trees outside - yay, picnic tables! Man, I definitely need some sleep... otherwise, I'll be falling asleep right when Committee meeting starts!

Edit at 1: Must do minutes / attendance work before the meeting! Got some sleep, and had a weird dream about a grey keyboard with black characters - we were on a cruise ship, and the characters would disappear when we were in a Maple Leaf Shop with books! Yikes. :P

SAUSAGE FEST!

Eric picked me up, and we spent most of the ride discussing what happened this afternoon with stupid Korey. I had to get some stuff out of my system, and apologized for swearing! We picked up some watermelon on the way to Jeremy's, while he gave me some advice: FOCUS ON OTHER THINGS, indeed! At least he was sensitive / kind enough to grab me some Kleenex while I was telling Nathan a very abridged version of what happened earlier! Nathan was surprised that I'd made it to the dinner, but I said that I needed distraction, and I knew it would be good times! Jeremy commented that I saved the guys from the normal definition of "sausage fest," which we cautioned Johnny about looking up online! Later, he grinned and said: "Leslie, you DO know that comments about size are off limits, right?" Hahaha, of course! I told Nathan that a friend had recommended I stuff my pants before going to the dinner - NOBODY would want to see that, especially my own brother!

Nathan high-fived me at my news: he knew it must have been tough, but ONWARD AND UPWARD! That combines what Vivian S. told me via Facebook, and what Rob told me on MSN. I could know it was the right thing since more than one person had the same reaction! Talked to Raymond about Floata's prawn salad, the "no more than one kid per table" rule for the Thanksgiving banquet, work, Wordscraper (resign the game if you can't play a move!), online dictionaries, and more. Put too much sriracha on my hot dog bun, so needed water - I also requested a normal beer. Why normal? Jon put watermelon juice / pulp in his beer... and accidentally added hoisin (fish) sauce to it later!

We finally got together in the living room to give Eric his magic bra! Tony remarked that I'd turned red again, and distracted me with talk about anime / GUNDAM WING / X-MEN / his own birthday! Since I was sitting closest to the package, I got the honor of giving Eric the magic bra - he was NOT IMPRESSED! ("Who are you people, and what have you done with my friends?!") Nathan had to record everything with his digicam, and it was quite funny! Eric made us all touch it, and Raymond commented that it felt like a Chinese dessert - HAHA! It was just two cups of silicone, and Nathan's reading of the instructions was pretty funny! Jon missed Eric's wearing it on the outside of his shirt since he was on the phone with Harmony, who apparently was very bemused by our choice of gift! Someone commented that there were holes in it - yes, those are for certain things! Johnny spilled some sausage grease on his pants, so Jeremy said that he should keep that sausage in his pants! I said that I had something worse to say, but it should probably remain in my head! Hahaha, it was just THAT kind of night! Ray came home later, and wondered WHAT we were doing! (Johnny thinks we should pass it on to Jen in May!) On the way home, I guess I was childish in saying I hated a certain bank now - Jon says I'm my own person. Of course I am, but allow me time to go through all the stages properly!

Food samples at Costco, anyone?

High-scoring word of the day so far:

TALARIA (112 points) - against Jennifer F. [two 4W]

Showed Jon the most recent book in my collection: no, I am not a female killer! He went to a concert last night, and mentioned something about the Lions game - I remarked that Mark Hainsworth had gone there. Of COURSE Facebook was the medium of my knowledge! Got to church and was too close to a certain person... thank goodness Raymond was there, haha. Discussed Wordscraper, healing, food samples at Costco, SAUSAGE FEST, and more. Vanessa said that my sister wished me a happy birthday via an email exchange they were doing yesterday, and said that she could make it to Wednesday's thing. Greeted several people, including Phil and Grace. Christon said he'd try to make it, while Nathan confirmed that he would make it - of course he's not the only one going! Thank goodness for several instant guests as of yesterday, haha.

Talked to the usual assortment of people in the back parking lot: less than a month, and we won't do that anymore! Discussed people without kids and how the announcement regarding only one kid per table was unfair. Hannah was blowing bubbles while her mom Lily said that her impending sibling might teach her about sharing since she's getting spoiled! Joey put a cold water bottle up to baby Allison's face, and her dad Jeff just encouraged it - including her grabbing at Joey's keys. Yup, she'll learn to love hockey pucks! Asked Eric to drive me home (during which we discussed IMPORTANT THINGS), and he jokingly said I'd have to pay him since gas prices HAVE gone up! J-Mak thanked me for the birthday Facebook wall post; yup, I figured I'd at least get that in after I got home at 1 AM! We asked Isabel if she was on Facebook since we both saw her on there: sorta.

Waved to Keenan and Maxine, and said hi to Jenica. Stanley says he's not playing Wordscraper anymore - I take it the Live Blitz version was too much for him, haha. Discussed sweat, being tired, long hair, gaming, and other things with Tony / Jeremy / Sonny / Eric and others too. Dylan came up to me / Eric / Johnny with a card he got in his mail - we didn't know whose handwriting it was! (it said "JOHN") Johnny provided the excuse to open it, and Dylan looked at the card; he knew instantly that it was Deb's brother-in-law who was the intended recipient! Eric thinks I have kids to spoil: not really! Tony found it amusing that I'd be the only girl at SAUSAGE FEST - hey, it kinda works... and we'll give Eric his special gift, too! :D

Another BBQ at Erik's!

Teunis picked me up later than planned, but a previous event had run late. Reacquainted myself with Robin, and was sorry to miss his girlfriend - maybe next time! Informally invited people to Wednesday's thing - I should send them invites and such later today. (and must ask Danielle if she can give Jasmine a ride home... plus harass everyone today at church) Went to Save-On to grab meat and sauerkraut, plus some raspberry ginger ale - being around cheerful people is good for me! Talked about grammar, "dumbed-down" Netspeak (WTF?!), crazy Scientologists, videos, BAD service conitions at Tim Horton's / KFC, personal things, anime, propane, PAINKILLER, manga, a DRAGON BALL Z parody, ignoring certain things, chicken, morbid senses of humor (yay for Vanessa!), Desktop Racing on Wii, and MYSTERY MEN. I'm getting to like these superhero movies! Lindsay and I both agreed that we were sore losers and didn't do well in racing games: I still remember that time I tried playing MARIO KART where I fell off the track a zillion times! Discussed fencing, wine, defense, suicide because of the Hadron collider, Chinese food (organ meat), EVIL WOMEN, money, and more. Good times!
