Visiting, chopsticks, Magic Bra, family, no havoc, and playing card suits

Teunis got home five minutes after my last entry: we discussed visiting with Matthew, ranting, things they both enjoy, Jordan and his paintings (curtain rods work well for hanging them?!), Panties on Hoops and the fake Myspace page, chopsticks and chopstick covers for Jordan's niece and nephew (who are also Teunis' niece and nephew - his brother married Jordan's sister), and prank calls. We also talked about NOT creating havoc when he came in, exercise, yoga, Andrew calling him on Skype, Glen Beck / FOX News, boob gifts, the Magic Bra and Eric's reaction, splitting the pie, online job applications, and more prior to our going to bed. When he got up, we discussed LJ and Rhiannon.

Odd vipers having nine barks, elevator dream, XKCD Online Chatter Map, If

High-scoring words of the night:

VIPER (108 points) - against Jane K. [two 3W]
ODDS (175 points) - against Rebecca H.-F. [two 5W]
NINEBARK (120 points) - against Yvonne S. [5W]

I felt really tired at 8, so I had to take a nap. Of course, this left me feeling wide awake at midnight... this explains why I'm up at 4 AM! My dream consisted of elevators and word searches, it seems. Eric thinks we need to have a meeting after church on Sunday to discuss how best to support the Fellowship; sorry, not in my downtime / money budgets! Good idea, however...

I found an XKCD comic of an updated "online chatter" map:

Trivia fact for Wednesday, Oct. 6: What literary classic is about a man who was imprisoned on the tiny Mediterranean island of If? The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas père. If, located two miles off the port city of Marseille, France, was home to a fortified 16th-century castle that was later used as a prison.

Scorpion front, 5:35 PM, sleep issues, and Chipped Nail Polish (survey)

High-scoring words of the afternoon:

FRONT (320 points) - against Gloria W.-W. [2W, two 4W]
SCORPION (365 points) - against Fran R. [two 5W] {a good deficit-erasing word!}

Well, Teunis kind of woke up - he definitely didn't want to know that it was 5:35 PM, haha! I let him find that out for himself, since he felt sore and exhausted. Doing something a bit more active today would be a good idea for both of us! Says he got to bed around the same time as the previous night, since he couldn't get to sleep AGAIN - sleeping earlier might be tenable if he massively overslept! He thinks my computer made noise last night - I forgot that Trillian provides sound alerts when people sign in and out, OR send messages! Gmail Notifier makes sound alerts to notify you of incoming emails, too.

Also discussed Jewish wedding songs (maybe Steph heard it at Vivian and Gabriel's wedding!), more job leads, programming, oil (not to be stored on its side), polygamy, polyamory, mice, rent costs, historical background, kimchi, very spicy food, coffee, Revenue Canada, and Chapters. Conversed about mice, my bookshelf, THE EXILE, twenty years of anger, Terry Pratchett / Alzheimer's, Neil Gaiman going crazy ("What to do if you get caught in a fairytale"), tools, doing laundry at Rhiannon's, stereotypes of Aboriginals as being drunks, Chinese history and Vancouver, Jordan being related to Europe's royal families / John Hancock / Mormon leaders, the silverfish's diet consisting of wood and paper (they ate his schoolwork once!), and more.

Hanging out with Vanessa derailed / Scary movies, escalators, and more! (survey)

Vanessa just called from the ferry terminal - she has to get some stuff from Erik's since it looks like she'll be moving to the Island permanently. Of course, she now can't get ahold of him - go figure! I certainly don't mind hanging around with her for the next day and a half! She called again to say that she's at her parents' house - she needs to get changed since she's really hot. Now that I've kinda eaten, it doesn't matter if we head out for drinks or not, hahaha! Actually, she's just called again to say that she was told about a family dinner at the last minute (gotta hate that!), so tomorrow at around 10-ish it is! She needs to go get dishes in Langley, and maybe try Erik again tonight - if not, then it has to be next week. Sweet - more time for my project! I am insane because I *do* want to get the last ten months' worth of posts up... we'll see how long THAT lasts in between (blogging about) real life! :P

Debbie, possibly needing a new microwave (research!), Chrystal, presents, and deliveries

Someone named Debbie Farrington added me on Facebook. I don't know her, so I'll mark the request as just that, haha. I'm also researching microwaves, since I'm almost certain that my current one is losing power. The bowls of soup that I've heated up recently take three minutes instead of two to get up to a good heat level, and even then, it's not holding in the heat as well as I'd like. The pot pie I heated up SHOULD be all over the plate if I heat it up for three minutes, but it's not! Definitely going for a known brand, and one that's at least 1000 kW for sure! Although I should note that it successfully heated up another pot pie, but I'm not sure if it's because I defrosted it for seven minutes instead of six beforehand.

Called Auntie Ying, who appreciated it. She shared her concern for Chrystal with me: seems she wants me to pray for her sister-in-law and husband, along with Chrystal. I told her that Chrystal's disorder isn't something you just recover from, like my cold this week. If only she had access to online forum support! She doesn't know how to use a computer, though. She felt bad that she was doing all the talking, but I grew used to that with someone else, haha. I brought up the idea of buying birthday cards and gifts for the kids, since I know Amanda's birthday is coming up soon. She was amenable to that idea, and will pay me back for Amanda's gift - now, what to buy for a six-year-old girl that likes drawing?! Hmm. At least she said that she'll bring a handheld mirror - I need to get one of those, since mine from Grandma got STOLEN! (plus a new comb or two) Ended the call at midnight - woohoo!

I LOVE ICONS! / A quiet Christmas Day isn't so bad, but DEATH to maternal assumptions!

Note: The Nightmare Before Christmas LJ Style Memegen, by suziequzie / Your Crazy Insane LJ Christmas party! Memegen, by Lucas14.

I like this "quiet Christmas Day" vibe - now, am I nuts enough to watch people at the mall tomorrow? Maybe, maybe not! Someone called earlier to wish me a Merry Christmas, which was nice of him. :) Jon and Harmony apparently tried calling me, too. Then my mother called, wanting to know why I wasn't at her house for an abalone dinner, and that Grandma would be living with me - well, she didn't tell me about it, and I like solitude / downtime even on holidays! In a bid for tough love, I told her that she had to face reality: her mother is back in town, and all breaks must come to an end. Then she said that Steph was too busy with her new life - right, so *I* get short shrift because I seem not to have a life?! WTF?! Don't get me wrong - I love my grandma (which is why I wished her a Merry Christmas in Chinese on the phone), but I *detest* having things just PUSHED on me... even more so than I did three years ago, TRUST ME!

She told me that she had some more stuff for me (like Garden Cocktail - at first, I thought she said "Garlic" - and mousetraps) - and invited me for a Boxing Day lobster dinner tomorrow. We'll see on that one, since I think I might not be up till 2 again! She was under the impression that I would love to get dropped off at Zellers at 6:45 AM - "It's simple... all you need to do is NOT SLEEP! Then you don't have to get up!" UGH! I'd rather tackle the mall at a more reasonable hour, even on Boxing Day! We'll see on stuff, though. Now, if only I could find my pills...

Edit: Jon and Harmony called back. Discussed tomorrow at the lards' place, mice, Holly thanking me for the shortbread cookies, Mom's melodrama, Boxing Day plans (none of us are very ambitious), and the weekend. Not too bad, all in all - but burps are not appropriate, haha.

No Neptune, but a pancake slab will do to eat!

Steph called to invite me to lunch at Neptune with her, Jon, Harmony, Grandma, and the parents. Can't do it since Billie is still here - our breakfast consists of pancakes made from Dallas' Aunt Jemima mix. Actually, it was one big pancake slab, but it works! (also decided to have pudding, digestive biscuits, and raspberry lemonade) Showed her the wedding photos, and talked about commercials / the Cult / weird survey questions / aggressive finches and pigeons.

Facebook quizzes taken from Veronica and Gretchen:

Leslie just took the "What military rank are you?" quiz and the result is Major. You serve as primary Staff Officer for brigade and task force command regarding personnel, logistical, and operational missions. The men beneath you love you and will do anything for you. Your soldiers obey you not because they have to, but because they want to.

Leslie just took the "What do others see in your eyes?" quiz and the result is Timid eyes. Your eyes constantly say something about you, and often express the emotion of timidity. Often the eyes of shy people, they can express strong emotion and evoke pity or other feelings from other people, and are often subtly beautiful.

Liu's Taiwanese Restaurant with Billie, PANTIES ON HOOPS and Myspace, disgusting Myspace messages

This thing just restarted AGAIN! Had to wait forever for the buses to take me to the Richmond Sushi plaza (more properly called Union Square), but I got there eventually! Billie had been waiting for an hour, but she'd brought reading material and things along, so I definitely did not feel guilty over that! We were disappointed that Richmond Sushi was CLOSED, so we noted the hours - 11 to 2:30 for lunch, and 5:30 to 11:30 for dinner. Then we decided to try Liu's Taiwanese Restaurant next door since I was hungrier than I thought. I ordered beef satay chow mein, hot and sour soup, and pudding bubble tea (SO NOT UP TO STANDARDS!) - Billie ordered a combo with strawberry bubble tea.

After that, we went to Richmond Centre and looked around in Coles before sitting down in comfy chairs to talk some more. Discussed "sauce" rendered as "source" on the menu in several places, parents, venting, parties, cultures, misguided notions, her friends Austin and Rodrigo, exes, Patrick, plans, moving out, Persian people, places you don't want to go, awkward people, perverts, people who think you need professional help, Ryan, Jeremy, and many other subjects. Hugged her goodbye at the bus stop - we'll make August sleepover plans for sure!

When I got home and talked to Corey about Rock Band with country songs / sudden scratches on his neck, I saw that I had two unread Myspace messages (I'd only logged in earlier to check something), so I decided to check them out. While I was doing that, I saw that Panties on Hoops had added me as a friend - HAHAHAHAHAHA! Yay for joke bands started by my brother and Nathan! I also asked Jeremy S. if he has Facebook, then I got to the messages. Perhaps I should have left well enough alone... they were creepy and GROSS!

Leslie's just got their True Blood Character Name from Name Generators. I just got my True Blood Character Name. It's Maryann Forrester.

Leslie's just got their Rapper Name from Name Generators. I just got my Rapper Name. It's MC. Boo-yaa.

Facebook quizzes taken from Darren:

Leslie took the Which Pokemon are you? quiz and the result is #6 - Charizard. Tough, fierce, and having a fiery appetite for destruction! Your friends feel protected around you, but they wouldn't wanna cross you on a bad day!

Leslie just took the "Which weapon is the best for you?" quiz and the result is A Minigun. WOW! When this weapon fucks em' off, you'll only see body parts in the air! This weapon aims REALLY badly, so you must get real close to the fuckers!

Bille got out early! / Vodka, Tic-Tacs, shirts, and more!

Billie called at 1:30 to say that class got out early, so I guess I'll adjust my own plans and leave NOW; luckily, she has things to do while getting lost. There was a time back in August 2006 when I had to bus to that area to meet Eric before Fellowship, but I've forgotten what buses I took. (I did get lots of noodles from Supermarket 2000, though!) I remembered that Pearl Castle is in the same plaza as Richmond Sushi, so we can do that if it's open before we head to Richmond Centre. Should be fun times!

Here's a survey to pass the time:

Whose bed were you last on? Mine.

What were you doing at 11 this morning? Checking email and Facebook, plus editing.

What was the best movie you have seen in the past two weeks? Coraline is the ONLY movie I've seen in the past two weeks, so I guess that has to qualify as the "best." :P

Are you going to have a good night? Potentially.

Foist hooks on the Quakers! / Dream of Tim Tams

High-scoring words of the day so far:

FOIST (130 points) - against Tammy L. [4W, hook off QUAKER for a plural] {a good deficit-erasing word!}
CAKED (112 points) - against Josephine S. [4W, 2W]

I had a dream where I simply HAD to buy Tim Tams from the store, or else everybody else would get them! Jon and others kept delaying me, but I prevailed in the end. What the heck is wrong with my subconscious?! Maybe I'll buy some goodies today after I catch up on what I missed because I had to sleep. As if I haven't spent enough money on them lately...

Facebook quizzes taken from Jessica and Morgana:

Leslie took the quiz "What does your body language say about you?" and the result is Attentive body language.

Leslie took the quiz "what stereotype are you?" and the result is cool / normal. (All the double H's in this quiz made ME want to shoot myself. Any idea why those are in there? Besides the quiz author being a stupid moron, of course... THAT is established already!)

Leslie took the quiz "What kind of person do you fall for?" and the result is The "bully." You fall for the person who is kind of a bully. They are mean, and maybe misunderstood... They could have problems at home that make them that way, so don't get in over your head. There might be a chance, but don't expect a saint. (Oh dear... this probably explains a few things...)

Leslie took the quiz "Who were you in a past life?" and the result is Frank Sinatra or Marilyn Monroe. You're a beloved and dearly-missed entertainer who brought joy to millions upon millions of people. In the hardest of times, your voice / face / life reminded people to let go of regrets and hatred, and to truly live this brief life.

Leslie took What Motorcycle Are You quiz and the result is Born To Wander (Harley Davidson Fatboy) You are born to wander, and you top the list! (NICE!)

"You're like a bus... not that we RIDE you..."

Bingos of the night so far:

MISATONES (268 points) - against Kimberly R.
OUTLIERS (138 points) - against Melindy M.

High-scoring words of the night so far:

RAX (108 points) - against Kailea S.-G. [two 3W]
MISATONES (268 points) - against Kimberly R. [4W, two 2W, bingo] (a good deficit-erasing word)
OUTLIERS (138 points) - against Melindy M. [3W, bingo]
HATCHERY (146 points) - against Rosalind H. [two 2W]
EXILES (102 points) - against Adam L. [2W, 3W]

Eric picked me up earlier than usual, and we spent the ride over to church talking about weird stuff, STAR WARS, Richie, forgetting the word "vehemently," late lunches (no dinner required), my "too warm" apartment (I'd die if it were really over 200°F!), "becoming a recluse," and more. Saw Billy at the church front door, attempting to be let in. I could see Jessica at the far end of the hall when I peered inside the door, and Eric told her to quit doing her homework and let us in! Finally, Billy had to call his brother Danny to let us in, heh. I set up the chairs since nobody else was around to do it, while Jon announced his presence to us. Talked to Raymond about Wordscraper, jobs, and other stuff. At least I got to share my Fruit Source snacks with Jeremy and Raymond before I finished them all during Bible Study! Also gave Dylan a birthday card, heh.

Talked to Grace about my pasta creation (cream of mushroom soup / frozen veggies / salmon is quite filling!), and her long week. Discussed gratefulness, Vanessa accidentally squishing Cindy's finger, Kevin and attendance, meetings, Vanessa and etiquette for follow-up, Nathan's write-up for the potluck on the Evite, and other things in Bible Study. Afterwards, I hailed Dianne to ask about the baby she saw being born today in New Westminster. It was named Jenny, was really CUTE and weighed five pounds! She's been reading a few of the poo facts, and asked me how Facebook note tagging worked: she thought I was writing a story about a character called Dianne who pooed! Hahahaha, no!

Waited with Eric downstairs while he checked messages - we ended up giving Sam and Ivan a ride home too. The "different" woman Teresa was under the impression that Sheena would drive her home; yikes. She bombarded poor Cindy with a few prayer requests about her boyfriend's mattress and jobs at McDonalds! I talked to Sheena and Connie for a bit, then peeked in at Jon in an office room - I knew he was looking up bands on Myspace, haha. Talked to Harmony on the phone for a bit since Jon was packing up: I heard him laughing when I asked her if she was a big Valentine's Day person, and Eric came up to me in the hallway to ask if I was flirting with her since I asked her what her favorite food was! (I had run out of things to say!) Greeted Phil, Grace, Cindy, Richie, Johnny, and others: marshmallows are good for math, but kinda gross to eat later! Said bye to Raymond and heard Sam, Quan, Julie, Jessica, Stanley, Mike, Joey, Emily, Sonya, Ivan, Sarah, and others create noisy chaos upstairs! Dylan invited some of us to bubble tea, and told Christon that he might as well come along, hahaha.

We had an interesting discussion on the way home, mostly focused on Harmony's chivalrous ways. Jon's going to see her in a few days, which is good. Sam and Ivan let us know about some things in the video for the girls' appreciation night: Mark had funny analogies. ("Amasiah is like a bus - not that we ride you or anything, but sometimes you come to Fellowship and sometimes you don't - just like transit! Isabel's like a doughnut because she's sweet and dresses differently!") Then we got into other questionable analogies: feather dusters are mass produced, so you're a dime a dozen in Asian dollar stores! Got my stuff from the trunk (yes, I got the right knapsack!), and told Eric to call me tomorrow. I shouldn't sleep through it, but at least I have backup if I do!

Poo nugget for this weekend: Courtesy Flush - The Courtesy Flush is an act of flushing immediately upon defecation to minimize total odor exposure time. Most often employed in a public facility, this technique has also been used to disguise embarrassing sounds that may result, say, from a bout of explosive diarrhea.

Bzoink shuffle meme: SESAME STREET and restaurants!

High-scoring word of the day so far:

ARENA (125 points) - against Colin W. [two 5W]

Jon and I just chatted on Gmail: I never knew you could make your text bold by putting it between asterisks! Sweet stuff! Apparently, we're having lunch with Harmony's parents tomorrow after church - it'll be interesting later with the wedding reception and the weather. GO AWAY, SNOW!

Here is the weekend's poo nugget: How can you be constipated and have diarrhea at the same time? A phenomenon called "overflow diarrhea" occurs when watery stool leaks around an impacted bolus of stool. Typically occurring in patients with fecal impaction, a condition in which a hard bolus of stool plugs up the rectum and prevents passage of normal bowel movements, this form of diarrhea can mislead physicians to prescribe anti-diarrheal medications, thereby worsening the underlying constipation.

Hey, here's an interesting shuffle meme which I have NOT done before! I'll use Corey's DVD for this, of course. Stolen from Amanda:

Snowman poop? MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Finished my annual Facebook wall spam, and have received some replies back. I remember Jon was quite surprised at the number of Facebook notifications in my email last year, haha! Corey and I have been talking for a bit tonight, and he seems to think I should give people "snowman poop" - no lumps of coal this year? Heh.

[23:30:23] Corey: well, I need to try to sleep soon so Santa can come :P
[23:31:32] Flami: nice
[23:36:15] Corey: we didn't leave any cookies and milk out, or a carrot for Rudolph (I guess the other reindeer don't need stuff) so maybe he'll be pissed off and not leave anything
[23:43:13] Flami: that's probably not the wisest idea
[23:54:03] Corey: what's the wisest idea?
[23:59:40] Flami: I'm no Santa expert... but maybe you should put something out to mollify him
[00:07:25] Corey: how about a note that says "I was a good boy this year, so leave me a million presents. If you don't I will cease to be a good boy, and in fact I'm up on the roof with a knife on your head reindeer's throat. Leave everything you have if you want to be able to fly home, fat man."
[00:09:20] Flami: that would achieve the opposite
[00:10:26] Corey: but you might get Santa's entire load of presents which you could then sell to all the sad kids that didn't get anything since you took it all
[00:10:57] Corey: he'll still come next year even if you're on the bad kids list, he still has to leave a lump of coal in your stocking
[00:17:26] Flami: hahaha, true... I should give everyone one of those! :P
[00:34:07] Corey: nah, just do snowman poop instead
[00:42:26] Flami: COREY. BAD.
[00:42:42] Corey: no really, you can use that :P
[00:43:26] Corey: you take some marshmallows, put them in a plastic bag, and add a little card with a note that says "You've been bad, so here's the scoop: all you get is snowman poop!"
[00:43:49] Corey: that's the official snowman poop poem as far as I'm aware :P
[00:50:15] Flami: the hamsterette: I've never heard of it
[00:51:13] Corey: my mom put that in my stocking one year, and a relative sent them another year... and if you Google it, you'll see articles that give that little poem and the idea as a cute little thing to do for Christmas
[00:51:47] Corey: it's easy to do, and most people seem to think it's at least mildly funny :P
[01:00:03] Flami: haha, I guess so... but try going out in this weather :P
[01:02:03] Corey: I went out like three times today!
[01:04:03] Flami: what did you do?!
[01:06:20] Corey: lunch, Christmas shopping, church
[01:06:41] Corey: I didn't fall asleep during the Christmas service this year, so you should be proud of me :P
[01:08:11] Flami: hey, my friend Darren says "I got my hat from Le Chateau in Metro... the one with the guys' section... obviously" [we were kinda wondering about that]
[01:08:27] Flami: do you normally fall asleep?
[01:10:29] Corey: yes :P

Care from Jeremy S. / Dream about underwear

High-scoring word of the day so far:

FOOLS (249 points) - against Pat K. [4W, 5W, hook off BEMOAN and CWM to make BO / EL / CWMS]

Jeremy S. left me a caring comment on Myspace, which is good. Hadn't heard from him in a while, actually! He's such a sweetie!

Had a weird dream which involved Eric T. choosing things from a room full of clothes on racks for a gig. I told him that I hoped nobody actually used the underwear that I saw, which primarily seemed to be from American Eagle. He said that they did, and then had to get out of there since his truck had arrived on the grey concrete sidewalk outside the store. I went to the big party room which was attached to the store, and then fielded a few missed calls from Andrea on a cellphone.

Some guys with dirty blonde hair were in the room, and found it gross when some girls started changing in front of them. Then Uncle Daniel's office blitzed the place with "appointment reminder" slips for dental care. Some of us knew that we'd missed our appointments, but didn't care. Trudi Fraser (supposedly my sister's old piano teacher - really Trudy Morse) and her colleagues complained about the waste of paper, and we said that there was nothing we could do about it. No idea WHAT triggered the dream!

You Are 56% Ready to Be a Parent

You are mostly ready to be a parent, though you could be better prepared.

If you had a kid tomorrow, things might be difficult at first - but you could pull through.

You don't have to be an ideal parent, but if your life was in better order, it would help.

Make yourself a plan of how you'll raise and pay for a kid. You'll feel better if you have all your ducks in a row.

If you're already a parent, you're probably doing a good job.

Even if things aren't perfect, you're making the best of it.

At least I have a better idea of how to be a parent than SOMEONE else does...

You Are Somewhat Approachable

You are a fairly friendly person, and you're definitely not scaring people away.

You do tend to have your guard up when it comes to strangers, and rightfully so.

How approachable you are depends on who is trying to approach you.

You're friendly to people who seem harmless and nice. But you also know how to give creepy people the cold shoulder!

That is definitely correct! I was TOO friendly to a certain person, though. Yikes... my synapses were misfiring BIG-TIME on that one!

What Your Cupcake Says About You

At parties, you tend to be a lot of fun. You make everyone just a little bit happier.

You hardly have any restraint. You only hold yourself back when absolutely necessary.

The most important thing in your life is fun.

You are dominant, vain, and a bit of a showoff. To know you is to worship you.

Hmm... maybe... ;)
