I am garlic bread!

I talked to Eric, Lesley, Anita, Phil C., Derek, both Helens, Sean, Cindy, Dianne, Hon, Ivan, Randal, Winnie, Connie, Karen C., Nathan, Jen, Citrus, Danielle, and Jackie tonight as we ate cupcakes / Timbits / strawberries / garlic bread with spinach dip. Mostly said hi and got updates on everyone's life, and told people multiple times who my ride home was. I gave Ivan his birthday card; also discussed hydro bills and the Sun Run with Connie, Derek, and Phil. Helen C. is getting really impatient and wants her baby to be born now (she's due any day), while everyone around Helen K. (who was cold tonight because of the air) expects her to be the next person to announce she's pregnant! Somehow, we don't think it works THAT way!

Anita asked me again if I knew when her wedding was... of *course* I do! It's June 25, and you can bet I'm keeping that date free! Lesley is going to China again: when Eric saw me talking to her, he later joked that I was talking to myself and imagining trips to China. Not quite the case, as she spells her name differently than I do! (which he didn't know till I told him that!) I let Jen borrow the Mental Floss book I bought from Virgin the night we all said goodbye to Dave.

Nathan and Eric both are driving the Benjamin Fellowship kids to bowling tomorrow morning, then going to the afternoon's dodgeball fundraiser for their group's mission trip. I'll just enjoy the time that I have off from Awana and stay home. Eric sang Big Sugar's Butterball, Talk Show's Hello Hello, Collective Soul's Reunion, and the Stone Temple Pilots' Lady Picture Show to me; I told him that he'd inspired me to change my MSN name to a food-related one, and he told me exactly how to format it. He also insisted that I must not have that much of a grasp on reality since I randomly laughed at seemingly nothing in his car... hey, I'm just that comfortable with him! It has nothing to do with the amount of control I have over my laughter... although it would be nice if I could have some control over my random thoughts! ;)

I must really miss hockey if I dream about the Canucks!

I dreamed that a bunch of friends and I lived at the group house I was in before I moved to this apartment. The floor of the house was bright orange fuzzy carpet, like it was in the 70's. We were hanging out, and some of us left to go to a party. I was in bed and oblivious to all the goings-on until Jesse woke me up at 2 PM. He wanted me to be at the party, but was also concerned that I hadn't slept enough. I said I'd be fine after I took a shower and got ready. The shower tiles were light green, and the bathroom came stocked with anything we wanted.

After I got out of there, I remember watching a hockey game complete with analysis on TV. It was an old hockey game, as the contest clearly featured Mark Messier playing with the Canucks, and the commentary said something about a terrible mistake on his part. The blunder really shouldn't have happened so soon after he got traded from winning the Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers. The blue background and the white font of the written analysis reminded me of old-school Sportsdesk. (now called SportsCentre)

Later, we finally went to the party in Samuel's orange Beetle. (he doesn't have one in real life) The party was held in some reception hall; when I got there, I saw more of my friends. Tim, Amanda, and Marian especially gave me a warm reception. ("We haven't seen you in SO long! How have you been?") I remember having a good time and drinking plenty of iced pop, but that's about it.

(I see Tim quite often in real life at church; in fact, I will probably see him tonight! The last time I saw Amanda was at the anniversary dinner a couple of weekends ago... she and Tim are so related by marriage, since his wife Maxine is her cousin. I haven't seen Marian in years, but I hear she and white Kyle are happily married... she may or may not be pregnant, so I'll ask Daniel or Nathan.)

Happy St. Patrick's Day! / Colored pasta

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again...
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.

(I have NO Irish blood in me, but thought I'd do it anyway! :P)

St. Patrick's Breastplate

"I bind to myself today
The strong virtue of the Invocation of the Trinity:
I believe the Trinity in the Unity
The Creator of the Universe.

I bind to myself today
The virtue of the Incarnation of Christ with His Baptism,
The virtue of His crucifixion with His burial,
The virtue of His Resurrection with His Ascension,
The virtue of His coming on the Judgement Day.

I bind to myself today
The virtue of the love of seraphim,
In the obedience of angels,
In the hope of resurrection unto reward,
In prayers of Patriarchs,
In predictions of Prophets,
In preaching of Apostles,
In faith of Confessors,
In purity of holy Virgins,
In deeds of righteous men.

I bind to myself today
The power of Heaven,
The light of the sun,
The brightness of the moon,
The splendour of fire,
The flashing of lightning,
The swiftness of wind,
The depth of sea,
The stability of earth,
The compactness of rocks.

I bind to myself today
God's Power to guide me,
God's Might to uphold me,
God's Wisdom to teach me,
God's Eye to watch over me,
God's Ear to hear me,
God's Word to give me speech,
God's Hand to guide me,
God's Way to lie before me,
God's Shield to shelter me,
God's Host to secure me,
Against the snares of demons,
Against the seductions of vices,
Against the lusts of nature,
Against everyone who meditates injury to me,
Whether far or near,
Whether few or with many.

I invoke today all these virtues
Against every hostile merciless power
Which may assail my body and my soul,
Against the incantations of false prophets,
Against the black laws of heathenism,
Against the false laws of heresy,
Against the deceits of idolatry,
Against the spells of women, and smiths, and druids,
Against every knowledge that binds the soul of man.

Christ, protect me today
Against every poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against death-wound,
That I may receive abundant reward.

Christ with me, Christ before me,
Christ behind me, Christ within me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ at my right, Christ at my left,
Christ in the fort,
Christ in the chariot seat,
Christ in the poop,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks to me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

I bind to myself today
The strong virtue of an invocation of the Trinity,
I believe the Trinity in the Unity
The Creator of the Universe."

In other news, I'm eating colored pasta... whee!

(I might get this kind from now on.. I'm SUCH a kid at heart! :P)

Dragon Name / MGB and OLP

My dragon name is Ashmore the Flame (Blue Dragon).
Take Dragon Name Generator today!
Created with Rum and Monkey's Name Generator Generator.

In other news, I've heard a lot of Matthew Good (Band) and Our Lady Peace songs today on the radio. Those are my two favorite artists of all time. I think that's the universe telling me that everything will ultimately be okay with certain things that happened. All I can do is hope, and forgive.... for some reason, I now have a peaceful feeling. Go figure!

Erotic dreams?

My friend Bryan emailed me this morning to say that he'd had an erotic dream about me last night. It doesn't mean anything as he has a life partner, but I only wish I'd saved the email instead of deleting it after I'd replied to it! I can do an approximate reconstruction from memory, though:

I don't know why, but I feel compelled to tell you that I had an erotic dream about you last night. I'm not even sure if you've posted pictures in your journal, so it's not based on that. I don't think it means anything, but I think I'll send this before I change my mind; why, I'm not sure. :P

My reply was along these lines:

Well, at least I'm getting SOMETHING even if it's in someone else's dreams! *shrugs, laughs, and winks*

Maybe it's the weird nature of the subconscious, who knows. I have posted pictures in my journal, just to inform you. Not sure it means anything either, but I'll be sure to let you know if the same thing happens to me some night or other!

That was the response he was hoping for, as he wanted to give me something to smile about... and he did! :D If it were almost anyone else (possibly up to and including a certain someone), I'd be thoroughly weirded out at the very least... as well as thinking of blocking them for obvious reasons!

I'm not blocking him, as he's a nice guy.

Besides, I'm doing a project for him. :D

My voice is still beautiful to him?!

Last night's ribs at Dem Bones were good. My mom REALLY wants grandchildren.. aiyoh!

Someone and I have decided to remain friends, which is a good thing. Last night, I was talking with Corey what my voice sounds like: I asked him if he'd trust Stephen's opinion, even if he DOES think Steve's a rather dodgy communicator. He said I didn't need to do that... just record my voice somehow and send it to him, since we've not had any voice chats or anything. I said I'd ask Steve in any event, just for laughs to see what (if anything) he'd say.

This afternoon, I asked him what he honestly thought of my voice, and also added that I didn't want to bring up any possibly bad memories. He responded with: "I don't know how to describe it, but I think your voice is beautiful." I was amazed that he could say that after what happened last week, and he said that he could say it since we were friends. :D Corey says that the description is no help, however! (and I agree!)

This just makes me wonder how Steph and Gilbert worked things out afterwards. I know they did, since they're close friends and all. Ending things on good terms is excellent, although I probably shouldn't read our old conversations. :P (if God can forgive me, I can forgive him!)

Half-price raspberry margaritas, steak, buying books and cards for others, and going for ribs soon

Just went out to run some errands.. I had a steak meal at Boston Pizza. Since Corey was urging me to try sex on the beach (the drink, not any literal construct! :P ), I tried ordering one. The place didn't have the recipe for one on the computer, and I certainly didn't know what was in one. But I got a half-price raspberry margarita instead, so that was even better!

Bought farewell cards for Christon and Tracy; a birthday card for Adela; plus a few (birthday) books for myself, Farrah, Kai Qing, and Jim:

* Eats, Shoots, and Leaves: The Zero-Tolerance Approach to Punctuation by Lynne Truss (recommended by people in certain grammar communities ;) )

* The Darwin Awards 1: Evolution in Action by Wendy Northcutt (Darwin Awards website)

* Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

* The Vancouver Stories: West Coast Fiction from Canada's Best Writers with an introduction by Douglas Coupland (I'm sure that'll be a very good book to read!) [actually, I ended up giving this one to Corey for his birthday... I was going to get Jim Monster: The Autobiography of an L.A. Gang Member, but he has it and already read it, so a hockey book it was!]

I also saw a birthday card with a pirate on it: that reminded me of my German friend Tim, plus various "booty jokes" the Richmond Crew has had. :D

Now I'm off to replicate Corey's experience the other day: steak and ribs as separate meals on the same day! In the interests of fairness: he was carrying around 200-300 pounds of petrified stone for about a mile or so in a wheelbarrow, plus various other heavy items from his grandma's house. I'll be going to Dem Bones with my mother, so she'll pay for it... good thing, as I don't know if my bank account can presently take much more!

Stuff from Singapore / Marx Brothers quiz

Imagine my surprise this morning when I got stuff from my Singaporean friend Kai Qing today in the mail. She got me some bookmarks / postcards / stickers / Christmas-themed stuff / a super Chinese New Year card dated January 6, haha. Very much appreciated!

Interesting that she wrote certain things, and I get everything AFTER it's all gone to smash. Ah well, it was out of control. Ultimately nothing to be done about it, sigh. :P

What she said:

Hey Leslie,

Thanks once more for the Christmas card! I'm only glad that you're still on my list on LJ Land! (Actually I mean to say that I'm glad you're keeping me, but my thoughts were slightly messed up by The Oblongs on TV at this very moment.) I hope that Stephen gets his act together and cuts the phone company / connection some slack, heh. As for you, I guess it's always a great feeling to have someone around, even when he's not REALLY physically nearby (d'oh!), but we both know how negativity arises time and again. I have little faith in these things, distant or not, so I'm not fretting big time over Markus, but I certainly hope that something you (and Stephen) have put in yields something both comforting and precious. See you back at LJ Land!

With warmest regards and a whole lot of appreciation,
Kai Qing

To Leslie's mother (in case she comes across this): I am an online friend, but one of good humor and filled with non-malicious intentions. I pray you not to be worried that I know your daughter's address and her surname.

That definitely made my day so far! :D

Steak and ribs / Memes on dancing and Internet love

Corey had steak and ribs on the same day recently. I might replicate that experience tomorrow (technically later today... whatever :P), and maybe have a sex on the beach / Abbey / 1554. It's a bit too cold to literally have sex on the beach, and I have no lover / husband... so of *course* I mean the drink! :P

Focus on forgiveness, David now married, rollercoaster of emotions, quizzes

Went to church this morning, where we talked about forgiveness... that's something I'll have to truly think about, focus on, and apply! Talked to Christon briefly before service started: he could clearly relate to my rollercoaster emotional week, since he'd had one of them himself with family. Too bad he's leaving in May... I'll miss him for sure! Eric insisted that I had to have lunch with my parents, and reminded me to help with the toddlers; of course I wouldn't forget THAT! It's good to have him in my life, though. :D

Dianne was trying to get everyone's photos for a Fellowship scrapbook project; Melia, Vanessa, and Emily were switching their flip-flops so nobody wore their own (Jackie figured out how to do it); and Danielle said that Eddie had sent her the MSN virus that I'd gotten last week while on Dave's mom's computer. She had to reformat everything... my thoughts were: "Hey! What's happening? Good thing this isn't my computer! Oh crap! It's Auntie Grace's computer! Ack!" Everything seemed okay from my end, though... phew!

Frances told me that her brother David is now married: he met this girl named Rosenda when he went on his Philippines missions trip a few years ago, and they conducted a really long-distance relationship. Then he went down there in December, married her, and is now sponsoring her to immigrate here. Needless to say, nobody from here has met her yet... it seems all my old friends are in somewhat serious relationships / getting married / giving birth nowadays! Of course, then that leaves me wondering where I'll be in the future... even if it's too soon to think of anything like that.

Later, I asked my mom if she knew what blogs were. She didn't, and wanted to read mine. Good thing she doesn't know much about that... I told her to search for sites related to blogging if she wanted to know what I was talking about. She thought that she'd need my email address and password just to read it, hahaha! Then she thought that I change my email address every time I change my MSN name.. nope! My friends would get VERY tired of all the "email address change" notifications showing up in their inboxes on a daily basis, hahahaha!
