Princess Gwaelin at inns, coffins, PUFF PUFF, Wellgarth inn

The PUFF PUFF running gag in the DRAGON QUEST series

Critical hit point status, as shown in the desert outside the DQ1 town of Kol after defeating a skeleton:

You can take Princess Gwaelin to inns... this is what happens the next day: "Good morning! I hope you had a good night. Please take care."

In the DW2 town of Lianport, a cute girl invites you to have a "puff puff" session with her: "Don't you think I'm cute?" This onomatopoeia refers to a woman rubbing her breasts on a man's face.

"Ooh... I am delighted! Let's start!"

PUFF! PUFF! PUFF!

"Isn't that wonderful?"

"That's it. Thank you very much! Please come again!"

This is what happens if you say NO to her proposal: "Hmph! What?! Not another homosexual..." HAHAHA!

In the DQ1 town of Kol, there's a puff-puff girl in the open-air baths! "Hey, good-looking! How would you like a puff puff? It's only 20 gold."

If you say no, it's not as amusing as the one in Lianport, though. "Oh, that's too bad. If you need our services, let us know."

In the DRAGON QUEST games, your dead characters are represented by coffins, as in this screen shot outside the DRAGON QUEST 2 setting of Rhone!

When the series went to North America, Nintendo censored Japan (and took out an Enix gay bar in DW3)... so we have ghosts instead, as in this screen shot outside the DRAGON WARRIOR III town of Rimuldar.

This woman in the DW2 town of Wellgarth is a bit confused: "Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me where the bath is? What? This isn't a bath? This is a hotel?" HAHAHAHA!

You can take items from a coffin...

... and give them right back TO the coffin!

After you defeat Malroth in DRAGON WARRIOR II, the "60" glitch shows up again when the Rhone nun is talking to you! "Kendrick, 60, fe... Rolando, 60, fe... Linda, 60, f0..."

Child in Zahan: "Hey! You beat up Hargon! When I grow up, I want to marry you!"

Several places have VERY indented thanks, this one in Zahan: "Thanks to you, peace has returned. Thank you very much!"

Cannock jail guard: "Today, we're giving the prisoners a special surprise, and giving them a beer."

The thief in Cannock Castle's jail: "Oh, I've been dying for a beer! *gulp* "

Rolando's sister: "Hey, you're so carefree. I was worried that you got yourself into trouble."

Prince Rolando's retort: "Well, you're always so conceited. Heh heh heh..."

Don Mahone in Tuhn, referring to the Water Flying Clothes he made with the Magic Loom out of the Dew's Yarn in the Dragon Horn Tower: "Oh, it's you! What a tremendous achievement! I weaved my very soul into that robe. Ho ho ho..."

Gina, in Tuhn: "You people truly have courage. Just for once, I would like my husband to be like you."

We go see the great-grandson of the DRAGON WARRIOR 1 Dragonlord in Charlock Castle after restoring peace to the world: "Aside from other matters, we have become great friends! From now on, I'll call you Kendrick, and you can call me Ryu! Wa ha ha ha!"

The King of Tantagel Castle, telling the party what they already knew: "In reality, I'm the King of this castle! Heh heh heh!"

This guy in Tantagel Castle REALLY wants the kingship: "If the King is still missing, maybe I will be granted the job of ruling this country." Too bad that the King was hiding out in the weapon shop all this time!

Tantagel's King: "This country has been rescued by your lineage now two times... no, make that three times."

The guy in Leftwyne who told the party that they made him pee all over his foot: "I'm such a stupid person. I just drank too much. I had to come over HEAR and relieve myself." WORD FAIL!

A shop owner in Lianport: "Aahh! This beer is so smooth! A great beer is the best thing in life!"

Several people (this one in Hamlin) say this after peace has been restored to the world: "Hey! By chance, was it you heroes who defeated Hargon?! I didn't recognize you! I must be getting old!"

The lottery ticket people (this one in Hamlin) give you a modest gift of a Lottery Ticket after you restore peace to the world.

The Ozwarg monsters behind Hamlin's Golden Key door: "Ki! Ki!"

The ghostly King of Moonbrooke Castle, in flame form: "Well then, farewell. Oh, I can see... the heaven's gate."

The formerly lonely guy in Wellgarth: "Whee! This is great! I just figured out that everyone has been living down here! I'm no longer alone!"

Princess Gwaelin Fantasizing

The valiant hero has rescued Princess Gwaelin in DRAGON WARRIOR 1 from the Green Dragon, and from being the Dragonlord's bride!

When you take Princess Gwaelin back to Tantegel Castle, she asks if you fantasize about her.

If you say yes, she'll respond "I'm so delighted!"

Then she'll reward you with a kiss!

If you say no, she'll respond: "Why? Am I not sexy enough?" HAHAHAHA!

Kimchi noodles, GWAR on the FOX, and MOTHER 3 old men

Steph called to say that she thought of me while she was at Costco, and got a 12-pack of spicy kimchi noodles, which were on a super sale for $5 or so - SWEET! 99.3 also played some GWAR (who were playing at the Commodore tonight) in homage to Flattus Maximus, and Dave Brockie has announced that the character would be retired in Cory Smoot's honor. (EIGHTH LOCK / BONESNAPPER / some other song I didn't recognize) Then I introduced Ryan M. (eyeheartnewlife) to MOTHER 3, hahaha!

Got a relatively rare old man in a MOTHER 3 hot spring while I was revitalizing my health - YES!

Flattus Maximus / DRAGON QUEST 3 and BREATH OF FIRE 1 glitches / Romance Style

Corey got my Skype message about the GWAR guy, and said it sucked - I agree! Apparently, the last guy to play Flattus Maximus long-term also died since he got shot when someone tried stealing his car! The hockey game last night against Minnesota sucked, too... 5-1 for the Wild. I am NOT PLEASED. BREATH OF FIRE 1 froze, and DRAGON QUEST 3 was glitchy!!! I'm not going out tonight since I'll be busy with the hockey game AND my weekly tradition!

Being trapped (dream) / Flattus Maximus found DEAD! / Primary color flowers

Had that dream where I was trapped in the apartment in the dark without working electricity. Fits my depressing week, honestly. Then I heard that Flattus Maximus of GWAR was found dead as the band was preparing for a border crossing... of course, I sent that news to Corey via Skype message! I was responsible and paid my phone bill (which was NORMAL) today, too. Harmony just emailed us some news on Paul - words can't express my feelings.

AC/DC shirts at church - PHOTO EVIDENCE!

When Eric picked me up this morning, we discussed my "devil shirt" and the even more offensive Slayer T-shirt that Steve L. linked me to once / yesterday's BBQ / Cindy knowing what he had to tell him from me / my being "crazy and drunk" / tonight's dinner and my shock that he and Jeremy would be invited / FINAL FANTASY / PLANTS VS. ZOMBIES / DARKWING DUCK / real life / my negative associations with DONKEY KONGA / Go Fish (the card game) / Dylan, Deb, Mike, Mary (Eric doesn't know her last name?!), Christon, and more people helping with the BBQ (NOT Mr. Creep, though!) / the long day from 1:30 to 10:30 / watermelon / kids. I'm glad I didn't go, since I needed the downtime! I got to church and saw Steph and Harmony sitting together - I was just going to sit by Tracy on the other end of the pew, but saw Mr. Creep a row up, so I couldn't get out of there fast enough! Ended up sitting near Dave and Yvonne, who said hi - Shally joined them a while later. Steph came up to me, and wanted me to sit by them like sisters; no, because I didn't want to see Mr. Creep every time I looked up!

After service, I gave Mike K. his birthday card and Post-Its; he thanked me, said he expected a card from me every year, and said that the Post-Its would go towards school or plastering someone's car with them! Hahahaha, I've seen those pictures on the Internet also! Steph said that I'd embarrassed her and Harmony because they thought I was moving to sit near them, so of course they did a "seat shuffle" to accommodate it! I got Steph to take my picture in the AC/DC shirt (making sure the cross was visible in the background), and I noticed Eric giving me a weird look - HEY, YOU KNOW THAT I'VE WANTED THIS FOR SOME TIME, THANKS TO STEVE L. AND MIKAELA! After that, Mom told Steph and Harmony to find me a man, SOON! Of course I let out a "WHAT?!" reaction which was probably heard by a bunch of Chinese people... oh well. Later, I talked to Lily / little Gavin / little Allison thinking that people are on vacation if she doesn't see them at church (like Joey?!) / Anita W. / Hannah L. / Jeremy ("nice shirt") / Jose / Jane / Ada / Karen Y. / Helen K. / Nicholas / little Cory / Victor / Chris T. / Sheena (on crutches since she fractured her leg playing tennis) / Anita T. / Andrew L. / Nathan. Yeah, Steph and Lisa can pick me up to save Nate some time! (then they'll pick up Mom's widow friend Rita, who had knee surgery?!)

Steph and I talked to Karen and Lincoln for a bit - I will get Steph to bring the menstrual tea tonight since we need a picture of that and the menopause tea! After I moved to give Maxine some room since she was carrying baby Emma, I went upstairs to Toddler Sunday School since I'd be bored if I waited around for Eric. Waved hi to Gino, and saw Chrystal - yes, we're still on for Tuesday night! Ada, Ashley, Arthur, David, Evelyn, Alexis, and Anastasia were there along with Auntie Ying and Rachel's grandma. Talked about "happy snail," planes, going down slides backwards, toys, heart drawings, name spellings, Lego, shiny silver shoes, and more prior to Eric coming upstairs to get me since he had brunch with his parents. On our way out, I waved to Jeff and baby Joanna. We discussed zombies / combines / headcrab, a STARCRAFT starter kit, DISTRICT 9, BREATH OF FIRE, roms, my metal music Youtube playlist, Children of Bodom, GWAR, AFI, Cradle of Filth, Elizabeth thinking Ministry was a Christian band (HAHAHA), "evil music," the Christian radio station (the music wasn't hurting my shirt!), Third Day, HALF-LIFE 2 / toilets / blood / throwing toilets at people, Christmas music, SUPER MARIO RPG, and more.

Beefcake the Mighty left GWAR?! / Casey Anthony / Fried chicken and pizza

As soon as I read that Beefcake the Mighty (Casey Orr) had left GWAR, I let Corey know via Skype message. :O :O :O [literally my face as I read the news, heh] I got up to a message from him saying "well, he's left before, and come back before :P Beefcake and Flattus change "human disguises" a lot." So I had to tell him "Some of the fans on Facebook seem to think he may be going back to some project called Rigor Mortis. Then there was another post a while later calling us all "fools," but I figured that was normal for the band, haha. There was a funny suggestion saying that they should replace Casey Orr with Casey Anthony "because you guys need a real baby killer in the band," haha."

James buzzed me on YM last night, so YAY for that! We talked about my noodles, manners, pork chops, Rush being on the radio RIGHT when he said hi, his stepdad's craftiness, and cutlery. Also talked about tortillas, slurping being acceptable in both our cultures, personal stuff, pizza, Youtube videos, black men and fried chicken, Church's Fried Chicken / KFC / Popeye's, bidding me goodnight, and more. It definitely wasn't weird talking about food, although now he makes me want fried chicken. Guess I'll be going out today to get that and a few other things!

Traceable Shaw package, City Fresh, Safeway, and DETACHABLE PENIS

Went out in the rainy weather to go to Safeway - picked up a lot of medicine, spanokopita, cheap mango pop (42 cents?!), and other stuff there. Then we went to City Fresh for soy milk, shrimp crackers, spicy rice crackers, soy sauce, cheap imitation crab, and more; the last stop was Save-On for Doritos Munchies, eggs, milk, jellybeans, Easter eggs, butter, on-sale gum, on-sale deluxe pizza, and other things. Got home and discussed Tess, reactions, his foot, New Order being played at Sin City, stewing beef, cooking that pork roast, tech support, K-OS / Eminem / hip-hop, Eric Clapton's I SHOT THE SHERIFF, Randal, forgiveness, sin, and religion. Also talked about AC/DC's DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP (mondegreens!), Oingo Boingo's NO ONE LIVES FOREVER, GWAR's HAVE YOU SEEN ME?, King Missile's DETACHABLE PENIS, Rock 101, CBC, Randy Bachman, rappers, Dave Brockie Experience songs, ambivalence, funny quotes, Eric, the full fridge (scary!), cravings, and more prior to my going to bed. (discovered redrum had started - called Steph at work to tell her, haha)

When I was trying to sleep this morning, I heard knocking at the door - I ignored that since I heard Teunis taking care of whatever it was. Stupid Amacon! Later, I finally got up to find a box from Shaw at my computer. It says to "please open on arrival and set up today" - good thing I have a computer geek living with me for the moment, haha. Then again, it also says that the package contents are traceable and intended for the addressee only - OH SHIT! Once I opened it, I found out that it was equipment for Digital TV... hmm.

Warming up juice?! / Black Sabbath, brandy, fish balls, righty or lefty

HAPPY PI DAY! HAPPY WHITE DAY!

Teunis and I discussed GWAR / Manowar / Black Sabbath, radio shows, weird news, REJECTED, Wayne and Shuster, hot chocolate, brandy (not with my spring vegetable soup!), his gaming characters / style, milk, Eric's "drunk" joke, Westerns, warming up the raspberry-cranberry juice (er... that got a dubious look from me!), damaged files, defrag, Rammstein, KMFDM, Infected Mushroom, the clinic, and more prior to his going to bed last night. I got up at 4:15 PM, possibly catching up on my sleep from Friday / Saturday's all-nighter! Saw that Steph had called me, so I left a message for her to call me back. Teunis and I just talked about the errands he has to run downtown tomorrow, a group called Green Jelly which seems much like GWAR, fish ball soup with kimchi / noodles, the prep for the pork roast, sucky circumstances like death, CBC's website, a wind warning, and more. Steph and Lisa called me back - dinner tomorrow it is, along with earthquake-related updates from Trevor and Melissa's statuses! I'm sure the strike was fun at first, but now it isn't!

Recreating Corey's music DVD on Youtube / Vanessa / INTENSE mocha pie!

While I was busily trying to recreate Corey's music DVD on my Youtube playlists (only without all the duplicates - some songs aren't on there!), Vanessa buzzed me on Facebook chat. We talked about her former boss, bubble tea, supper in Richmond, Purdy's peanut butter eggs (in Richmond Centre AND Lansdowne!), Valentine's Day Reese's peanut butter cups, Wayne, UBC, the commute from here to Victoria, the White Spot in Richmond Centre, Purdy's caramels with salt (gross contrast between the sweet and salty!), and trends. Then Teunis and I were busy with our respective things, but did chat about the Dave Brockie Experience / GWAR being silly (Sexecutioner lyrics: "And when you are in France / you pull down your pants"), and the Misfits tune Mommy, Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight? - HAHAHAHA!

He decided to make some mocha pie where one slice has the equivalent of a pot of coffee - OH MY! Then he commented on a mix of GWAR's Sammy and Korn's cover of the Radiohead song Creep - trust me, it was TWO videos and not three, hahaha! Said he had a song which sounded like that, but maybe later since he went to bed before midnight; that was fair, as he'd been up since 3 AM. Then I heard about the earthquake in Japan - Justin and Trevor seem to be okay, and I hope Melissa is too!

GWAR Village! / Joey, lychee, WALLET SCAM, and KEEPING RECEIPTS

When Teunis got up, we discussed some more things: mathematics of error and land surveying, GWAR, Joey / Sam / Emily, the lychee grass jelly drink, fish dying in music videos / running jokes, Tea Party / Ugly Kid Joe / Infinitism (his stepbrother is the cello player!), kobold quotes from DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS ONLINE, Hawaiian pizza, tomatoes, trade-offs, sleeping earlier, hope, the guy behind DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS (I've read about Gary Gygas - sounds like Giygas from EARTHBOUND! - in a Bathroom Reader!), and more. I put on my own metal playlist, which suited my mood!

Then a neighbor tried scamming me by saying she'd lost her wallet, has cancer, didn't want to disturb me, lost her bank card, and needed money tonight for medicine - I DON'T THINK SO! I note that snacks for Christon's group is up soon, like next Friday. That's my group; if I end up not going because the stupid program is PING-PONG (of all things!), I can always keep the oatcakes (my plan) for myself, but I need to KEEP THE DAMN RECEIPT until then! NOTE TO SELF, indeed!

Fiery godparents / Almost getting killed THREE times in five minutes! / Shuffle / Struggles

Bingo of the night:

GODPARENT (65 points) - against Alice P.

High-scoring word of the night:

FIERY (208 points) - against Alice P. [two 4W]

I was almost killed three times just now while walking to the corner hotel and back! Stupid impatient drivers!

Straightforward Shuffle Meme

First rule - be honest! Don't keep shuffling forward for "cooler" songs. This is a "getting to know you" exercise. Once you've been tagged... (1) Turn on your MP3 player or music player on your computer. (2) Go to SHUFFLE mode. (3) Write down the first 15 songs that come up - title and artist. NO editing / cheating, please.

I'm using Corey's DVD for this, as usual. Thank goodness I found the thing!

1. Cradle of Filth, Lord Abortion
2. Switchblade Symphony, Rampid
3. GWAR, GWAR Theme
4. Ministry, Nursing Home
5. GWAR, The Wheel
6. GWAR, Tune From Da Moon
7. Ministry, Thieves
8. Tool, H.
9. GWAR, Cool Place To Park
10. Metallica, Metal Militia
11. GWAR, Fistful of Teeth
12. Tapeworm, Metal
13. Operation Ivy, Room Without A Window
14. Type O Negative, My Girlfriend's Girlfriend
15. GWAR, Slaughterama

Trivia fact for Wednesday, Dec. 1: What TV sitcom was inspired by the lives of young actress-to-be Meredith Baxter and her struggling divorced mother, actress Whitney Blake? One Day at a Time, which featured Bonnie Franklin as the single mother of two teenage daughters. The program, aired from 1975 to 1984, was cocreated by Baxter's mom and stepfather, Allan Manings.

GWAR at the Commodore! / Flushing SPIDERS down the toilet! / ANOTHER FAMILY MEAL? / Ten Commandments

GWAR IS IN VANCOUVER AT THE COMMODORE TONIGHT! :D [Corey would love it!]

I saw a SPIDER in the shower stall at 1 AM, so I hoped it would be gone the next time I went in there! When I got up at 3 PM (sleep deprivation AND the MDSE conspiring together), it was still there! I attempted to drown it with a lot of water; when it couldn't stay away from the water anymore, it just dropped in. After watching it for a bit, I got a mug from the kitchen to scoop the insect up with water. I was almost afraid to look in the mug afterwards because I thought the spider might jump out of the cup! Since it didn't, I immediately poured the contents of the mug into the toilet and flushed it down. Yes, of course I immediately washed the mug thoroughly even though the spider was only in there for ten seconds!

Got a Facebook chat message from Lisa B. when I was sleeping, so I decided to ignore that since she was offline anyway. Thanks to Trillian Astra, I know when she signs on anyway... then again, she says her account's been hacked once more! Also got a phone call from Steph at work, who informed me that Grandma has already forgotten that we took Jon out for dinner on his birthday! Unfortunately, this means another family lunch on Thursday... YUCK! At least this one is in Richmond at a Chinese restaurant, so Steph can pick me up! (less awkward rides there and back?) Good thing Mom and Dad are going to Nanaimo, really! Speaking of family, apparently Mom saw my humorous reply to Jon's band gig email, and thought it was a ride request! NO WAY! I wouldn't want a ride from her, anyhow! I'm sitting this one out!

Mandatory AWANA sessions, GWAR references, and zodiac signs

Chris emailed us with the dates of two important / mandatory leader orientations: September 5 and 12 after church. Food will be provided on both dates, so I guess these are two Sundays where Eric can just do his own thing! (and one of them happens to be his birthday!) Maxine emailed me an Evite for Karen Chan's bridal shower, taking place the day after my birthday. I don't think I can make it since Awana will probably be starting that weekend!

GWAR reference I saw on AutoComplete Me: "Y'know, when you're mugging talk show commentators in bathrooms... always remember to draw the swastika turning to the right... not to the left, always to the right."

Trivia fact for Wednesday, Aug. 25: How many signs of the zodiac are not represented by a living creature? Only one, Libra.

Perched in the shade - weird LORDI videos, ahoy!

Bingo of the afternoon:

BILLIARDS (102 points) - against Ron L.

High-scoring words of the afternoon:

SHADE (160 points; two 4W), JOYOUS (225 points; two 5W), BILLIARDS (102 points; two 2W, bingo) - against Ron L.
JEMMY (600 points) - against Dana L. [two 5W]
PERCHED (409 points) - against Millie F. [5W, 4W] {a good deficit-erasing word!}
ERASE (500 points) - against Bobbie P. [4W, two 5W]
INSERT (160 points) - against Nikki H. [two 5W, hook off YEAST for a plural]

Discussed the sound from the speakers breaking up because of a rather heavy load on the computer - compiling Google Chrome will probably do that! Also talked about his mom / stepdad / tractors / heavy-duty mechanics / kidney sickness, Lordi / GWAR / Eurovision / zombie cheerleaders, a silly kids' music video featuring fun pirates, a lightning bolt instrument (as loud as a plane taking off), and my computer somehow erasing a lot of what I'd typed. ANNOYING!

Taiwanese weather

Corey's opinion on the current Taiwanese weather:

[00:44:34] Corey: the sky is down now, it's raining like crazy
[00:44:51] Flami: but the question is... is it GOOD rain?
[00:45:03] Corey: uh, I don't know? it's wet rain
[00:45:15] Corey: and I was out riding my bike earlier :P
[00:45:55] Corey: that would be bad right now. it's really noisy... tons of rain. maybe the hardest rain I've seen since I've been here... and it rained a lot when I first got here
[00:47:39] Flami: are you sure it's rain and not hail?
[00:57:37] Flami: maybe it's rain on Jane's tin roof?
[00:59:35] Corey: I'm in an apartment building! :P no tin roof!
[00:59:55] Corey: and of course it's not hail, I doubt it ever gets cold enough for that here. it's hot as fuck today
[01:00:09] Corey: or at least it is when you're out riding a bike uphill to get home
[01:12:35] Flami: yeah, I can understand that
[01:14:31] Corey: it's not so hot with all the rain, at least... Jane needs to go out and do some things today though (before she comes home), so she hopes it'll stop :P
[01:16:26] Flami: of course she does!
[01:24:57] Corey: well, how about you!?!?!?!?
[01:27:19] Flami: it's not raining here, so I dunno... of course, I hope she doesn't get caught in the rain, but other than that...
[01:32:03] Corey: yeah, whatever, you whippersnappers are all the same
[01:32:57] Flami: yeah, yeah... I heard on Facebook that GWAR was in Fort Collins last week
[01:33:29] Corey: well, that's annoying
[01:37:16] Flami: because you're not there?
[01:44:15] Corey: yes
[01:46:29] Flami: that does suck

Lunch with Auntie Ying results in a Bathroom Reader gift, too!

Guess I should at least get myself into the habit of certain banking transactions, even if I did that because of the then-impending snow with last month's money already, so I did that after lunch with Auntie Ying. Had a dream where the perfidious blackguard (Raymond) was in it along with other people - I don't remember most of it, except that I had to talk to him about GWAR and War Toy, and that my friends and I were going upstairs to view a performance at one point. Ugh, what IS it with my subconscious?!

I met Auntie Ying at the Canada Line, and quickly decided to go to White Spot for lunch. We talked about Karen Grace and Edwin's mom, whether they'd like to go to Christian things, sharing about Linda (who should rest!), fajita salad, Uncle Peter, John (the wheelchair guy!) and Joan, her being jealous about dessert night, Seraphim Christian bookstore, her insistence on buying me a book, Jon, Harmony, Steph, prayer, Phil, Melia, Angus, cookies, and more. I don't think I'd personally want to go to a lot of faith-based meetings, but it's good for her if she does! We went to Coles (it would save time!), and I eventually picked out Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Wise Up!: Amazing Facts and Incredible Information (Bathroom Readers' Institute) for myself. (turned out all the Bathroom Readers were in their own display!) I wanted the new Ann Rule book, but Auntie Ying would be HORRIFIED - the newest Guinness and Ripley's books are 60% off, and she doesn't need to buy those for me! Maybe I'll buy all those later, hahaha. JUST managed to get the 407 after I did my banking, and am now home for some downtime before the dessert night! Saw a few people with Santa hats around, so I was not alone.

You Are a Risque Christmas Card

You have as much Christmas spirit as anyone else, you just don't take the holidays all that seriously.

Flying reindeer? A creepy old dude who brings presents? Elves? Christmas is just asking to be made fun of.

You'll take any chance you get to inject a little fun into the holidays. Even if it means being a little bad.

You can't help but be naughty this time of year. Hopefully, Santa won't take it personally!
