Melia and Angus now make me feel OLD...

Melia and Angus' wedding seemed to go by quickly! Danielle, Vania, Jason, Auntie Esther, Irene, and others complimented me on my green dress and overall look. While we were talking about weddings in that church / reading / Atlanta, Fidela said that she liked what I did with my hair - that's sweet. At least it was a nice day, if VERY HOT: poor Angus and the groomsmen in their tuxes! (unlike Chung and Karen's wedding in the same church - DOWNPOUR!) Talked to Ben about the summer, the age gap between me and my siblings, Grouse Grind, family dinners, and more... then I said hi to Benny and Anthony. It's been some time since I've seen them! Said hi to Chris - I heard later that Sandra didn't recognize him! ("Who's the kid with the fro?" haha)

Joe did a great job officiating his first wedding (Angus loved racing, and has transferred passion to his new bride!), and Jon deliberately made Erin laugh when she did translation - BAD UGFART! Song of Songs was an interesting passage choice, for sure!Angus and Melia used traditional vows ("to have and to hold"), and all the female wedding party members had gold shoes - I've just seen a picture of Michelle's poor feet from the wedding rehearsal, and that looks PAINFUL! Waved hi to a bunch of people like Ryan and Karen Grace, too. I was going to say hi to Melia's double cousins Emily and Chrystal, but they were obviously busy! Little Hannah was collecting the flowers, heh.

Talked to Becky, Jackie, Larry, Sandra, their kids Joshua ("I've had too much sugar!") and Elizabeth, Tim, Maxine, their kids Joshua ("don't put your arm through your shirt for the reaction!") and Keenan, Sarah, Vernon, Kenny, Winnie, their kids Megan (cute flower girl!) and Connor, Auntie Ena, Daniel, and others. It's so nice to see some of these people at least once a year! Saw Mike H. and Amanda, then met Joe's girlfriend. We knew Dylan is dating Sharon's sister! It was good to see Megan C.'s boyfriend Andy, as well. According to Joey, Pastor John didn't come in a tie - and his kids came in shorts! Chris borrowed Joey's dress shirt and tie: Winnie the Pooh ties are NOT proper for weddings OR graduations!

Right now, Joey and Steph are planning their wedding MC games - let's feel everyone's calves, haha! You've got to be careful when planning kissing games, since you don't want the people to be embarrassed in front of their parents! Belts, wrestling, games, corners, many cousins, family dinners, ball and chain, losers, and more - this promises to be an interesting dinner! Then Joey and Steph are going to the 7-11 on their way to Kirin, to get Life Savers and balloons - they'll be the most overdressed people in the store, with purple shiny dress and purple dress shirt! Must return wedding MC book to Vancouver library on Monday - a little late, but Steph gave me more than enough money to cover the fine!

Here is a pictorial representation of the painful shoes, and a picture of the girls that Fidela took a while back at the farewell dinner for Steph at Emily and Chrystal's:

Painful shoes... poor Michelle with those gold heels at the wedding rehearsal!

Puke and Urban Dictionary

I hate puking unexpectedly! My stomach contents need time to settle before I do anything, thanks. :P (Of course Jon HAD to tell Harmony about this, and about forgetting my bra when I went out yesterday! Future sister-in-law or not, I'm sure she doesn't need to know! Even without her confirmation that her friends forget that item, I *know* I'm not alone!)

Funny vignette of the morning:

Mom, on Dylan: "Are you sure he and his new girlfriend aren't going to get married soon? [they've been going out for two months, tops] You know when people are old, time is not at their side! By the way, people won't pass prenatal counselling if they don't go to church!" [she meant PREMARITAL counselling]

Stolen from Diane:

Go to Urban Dictionary and type in your answer (or the closest thing to it) to each question in the search box, then write the first definition it gives you.

Your name:

Leslie: An incredibly beautiful girl. Someone who is very attractive with the best hair.

"Who's that person with the awesome hair?"
"That's Leslie"

HAHAHAHAHA. Oh my!

Your age:

31 - Turkish symbol for m*sturbation
- 3 is the hand
- 1 is the c*ck

Oh dear. This definition is BAD! :P

One of your friends:

Frances: Probably the coolest person you'll ever meet. This girl is the funniest person in the world. You'll never hear Frances talk bad about anyone, unless the person really deserves it. Frances is your best friend. You wish you could be a Frances.

Cute boy at party: "Wow, did you meet that cool girl? I wonder what her name is."
You: "She was pretty rad. She must have been that Frances girl everyone always talks about. I wish I could be like Frances."

What you should be doing:

Dressing: Medium, okay, mediocre, in between good and bad.
My brother is okay... he is dressing.

Favorite food:

Noodles: 1. Nice food that comes in packets labelled "Super Noodles."

2. The Offspring's lead guitarist, and one of the coolest guys ever to walk upon this planet.

1. Did you eat noodles last night? I did.

2. Noodles is a guitar god.

Home town:

Vancouver: Vancouver is a city on the west coast of Canada. It has been voted and said by most to be the most beautiful city in the world. Mountains wall in the city and the ocean crashes downtown. In ten minutes, you can be walking in old growth forests. Greenpeace, adbusters, legal pot, safe injection sites, and things like this make Vancouver hated by right-wing nuts. Vancouver has the highest density, highest property values and best heath standards of any city its size in the world.

In Vancouver, I sit by the ocean in peace. Every other city seems empty to me after loving Vancouver.

I give a thumbs-up to THAT definition! :D

Word to describe yourself:

Quirky: something that is strange / not normal, but cool
Wearing long stripy socks that are odd...

Car you drive:

None: The lack of anything
Nada, zip, devoid

Last person you talked to on the phone:

Eric: The most amazing person in the entire universe. Everything about him is perfect! He's charming, handsome, intelligent, strong, romantic, funny... everything you want in a guy. It's impossible not to fall in love with him! Once you lay eyes on him, you will know from that very moment that you will never stop loving him.

Did you see Eric? Damn, that bitch is fine!

Your last name:

Ng: No Good.
That shit's ng.

Posting at the base for impressive shaved ice, oh my!

Bingo of the night so far:

POSTBASE (65 points) - against Jono M.

Ran out of time while doing stuff around town earlier this afternoon, but managed to get home in time to see Eric. Dang, I hate when this kind of thing happens! Stole a couple more minutes of his time so I could drop stuff off at home, including THE SOUND AND THE FURY / an American short story book / BEIJING CONFIDENTIAL. Yay for library books! (I just got another "hold is awaiting pickup" email notification - no time tomorrow, so MAYBE Sunday - if not, Monday will do!) Discussed fans, getting out of the house, prices, and more on the way there. After meeting Teresa at church, we found Dylan / Calla / Andrea / Chuck / others waiting outside. Went downstairs to find a bunch of people waiting downstairs for Bible Study to start. Jeremy asked Eric what make his old car was - Eric and I looked at each other before we let him know that ALL his family cars were old! Jer meant the Honda - Johnny thought it was an American car, heh.

After debating the merits of going into J.J. Bean coffee shop with my sub, I opted to join Eric's group. That did no good since we went to Honey Dessert House for bubble tea! I had a mango / watermelon / mango star jelly / condensed milk shaved ice, which impressed everyone at the table! Then I had to fight the urge to call John "sir" when I asked him how long he'd had a Bible without covers for, oh my. Asked Chung Yan if his mom had an email address: when I got home, I let her know about Steph's mailing address. To my surprise since it was past 12:30 AM, she replied with her characteristic gentleness - yay!

When we got back to church after studying hard work vs. laziness and THE SLUGGARD, we talked to Jason / Janette / Stanley / Jeremy / Jon / Sam / Mike / Ivan. I'll have to contact Dylan to see about our small group outing - perhaps tomorrow at the wedding! (reminds me of when I contacted Vernon about my computer at Warren and Lauren's wedding, haha) On the way home, we discussed the ultimate price / cell phone damage / plans / teaching / snorting. Got to the townhouse to talk about wedding presents / money / Gilbert / packing / Sudoku / plans / Sam / printing stuff out / stress / relationships / other stuff. Past time for me to be in bed now, actually!

The Bad Habit, dragons, jazz, and great hold timing!

Here's a dragon that my sister saw the other day. It was also featured in the VANCOUVER SUN.

Jon's invited us to go down to the Roundhouse for some free jazz on Sunday: it'll be interesting, so we'll see how tired I am after the wedding-related festivities! I just got an email stating that my hold is awaiting pickup. That's really sweet, since I'm actually at the library now! The rats are getting in again, so I simply must buy a fan!

Just because you ate it doesn't mean you like it...

Vivian didn't come for dinner since Jessica is going to Costa Rica tomorrow, and she wants to be with her sister. Oh well! We talked about pinching pennies, chicken, retail vs. thrift, the jazz festival, pasta, prawns, edamame, lasagna, quail, new potatoes, and more. Steph was in hysterics over how loud I was on the phone: I don't know how to say "Hang up!" in Chinese, so I simply yelled over the static! Apparently, I'm loud in real life too - Steph thinks I don't have to yell when people are right there. Funny... I don't think I'm yelling! Steph thinks that Dad has two nosy women on his hands, oh my!

I had to explain MOBY DICK to my mom, who heard a reference to it on LAW AND ORDER. Then she was horrified that there was perversion on the Internet, namely a fictional sex bulletin board! Haha, oh dear. I got a comforter, notebooks, candy, and a cute cat mug - sweet!

Amusing Grandma vignettes:

1. Steph: "Are you good? Are you good?"
Grandma: "Well, I'm right here breathing! What do you think?"
... um...

2. Me: "Did you like the lasagna, Grandma?"
Grandma: "Did YOU like it?"
Me, in English to the rest of the table: "... I asked her whether SHE liked it..."
Me, resigning myself in Chinese: "Yes, I did. Did YOU like it?"
Grandma: "Well, I ate it. What do you think?"
Dad: "She's just being evasive!"

What type of infantry are you?

A 16-year-old giving birth to triplets for the SECOND time?!

Bingo of the day so far:

MANICURE (74 points) - against Jono M.

My mom just asked me whether I was tasty... o_O [and she keeps putting her cold hands on my neck.. I hate that!] At least I got a gigantic Sudoku book for my sister while I was running errands earlier today - she may not take Grongrery! (stuffed animal she got when she was a kid) I had to yell over the static of my grandma's phone when Maria F. called, hahahaha. Apparently, my sister could hear my yelling in her room, and thought it was funny! :D

Note to self: Get more cleaning things, and hold CONTROL while clicking on my mom's computer to allow pop-ups such as the ones generated when replying to comments through email.

Now I have the Real McCoys' Another Night in my head - that made me think of Scott, and also made me smile. Ah, memories of my brother's friend being crazy... :D

Chorus:
Another night, another dream, but always you,
it's like a vision of love that seems to be true,
Another night another dream, but always you,
in the night I dream of love so true.
Just another night, another vision of love,
you feel joy, you feel pain, cuz nothing will be the same.
Just another night, is all that it takes,
to understand, the difference between lovers and fakes,
so baby, I talk talk, I talk to you,
in the night in your dream, of love so true.
I talk talk, I talk to you,
in the night in your dream, of love so true.
In the night, in my dreams,
I'm in love with you, cuz you talk to me like lovers do,
I feel joy I feel pain, cuz it's still the same,
when the night is gone I'll be alone.
Chorus
Just another night, another dream, another vision,
of love, with me,
I'm here to set you free I am your lover, your brother,
hey sister let me cover, your body with my love is with my lovin' just another,
vision of love, that seems to be true, all we do all the things that only lovers do,
vision of love, that seems to be true, all we do all the things that only lovers do.
In the night in my dreams I'm in love with you,
cuz you talk to me like lovers do, I feel joy I feel pain,
cuz it's still the same, when the night is gone I'll be alone.
Chorus
I talk talk, I talk to you in the night,
in your dream, of love so true.
I talk talk, I talk to you, in the night, in your dream, of love so true.
In the night, in my dreams I'm in love with you,
cuz you talk to me like lovers do, I feel joy I feel pain
cuz it's still the same, when the night is gone I'll be alone.
Chorus

Via Sara: 16-year-old gives birth to triplets for the SECOND time!

A teenage girl from Argentina has given birth to female triplets - for the second time.

Named only as Pamela, the girl had her first set of female triplets aged just 15, giving birth to the second set a year later.

As she gave birth to a son when she was just 14, that means young Pamela is now a mother seven times over, all before her seventeenth birthday. All seven children were born prematurely but without any kind of fertility treatment.

While doctors say the three newborns and their mother are well, the case has sparked debate across Argentina, the BBC has reported.

In bars, cafes, and newspapers, there has been widespread criticism of Pamela's alleged promiscuity.

Her family already receives help from the provincial authorities, which donated land and built them a house when the first set of triplets was born.

But some Argentines are arguing that perhaps what Pamela needs is not financial help but more advice on contraception.

Pamela's mother, who cleans houses to support her daughter, says they will now seek more assistance from the government.

The teenager - who will be 17 on Monday - comes from the remote town of Leones in the central Argentine province of Cordoba.

Wimbledon, using someone else's computer time, and husbands as cousins

Leslie K. added me to Facebook - sweet!

Bingos of the last few days:

MORGANITE (77 points) - against Jono M.
NASTIER (66 points) - against Leanne F.

I also played XI off Heath W.'s XI in one of our games, and QI off his QI in another game. In a game with George M., I played JAR off his JAR. Hooks are definitely quirky! ;)

I'm at the Brighouse Library again, and I found a free computer with someone else's time on it! This is cool, since I can use their time (40 minutes remaining), book extended sessions if possible, and then use my own time with my library card! Good thing, since I have editing (Names / Archives / Books / Bubble Tea) and dungeons / space adventures to do! Too bad I can't play Scrabble now on the computer... that time last week when I *could* must have been an aberration.

Went to Coles just now, and bought Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Plunges into Music - that'll be a cool read! I also got a bookmark with musical notes on it to truly match the purchase: YAY FOR QUIRKINESS! Saw Jan Wong's BEIJING CONFIDENTIAL, which I've now put on hold at the library. Seems like a book my brother would like to read too, actually.

Jen sent me a Zimbabwe emergency email - yeah, Robert Mugabe should definitely be stopped! Watched some Wimbledon at the mall on TV - it's been years since we were at Justin's and doing the same thing! Ah, memories... I also got Steph's new mailing address, which is truly excellent. Too bad that my one black bag has a leak in it, which I found shortly after leaving the house finally today - seems I have to get a new water bottle, since it's not sealing properly. Maybe tomorrow or something, if I can get one with the Awana-style lid!

Yesterday, I was talking on the phone with my mom. She informed me that my sister would like to get me a cemetery plot, oh my! When we were talking about Aaron and Joyce, she asked me whether I'd ever asked Maxine about whether she knew Joyce. That might be a bit weird: "Hey, Max! Do you know my cousin's ex-wife?" (Mom saw a picture of Joyce at Maxine's wedding when they were still living together at the #9 Rd. house) Then I informed her that the owner of the Out Of Africa shop (near China World) was Maxine's father-in-law, ie. Tim's father. She didn't know that Tim, Maxine, and her cousin Amanda were from South Africa!

Then she asked whether Tim was Maxine's cousin! HAHAHAHA! That reminds me that Jon told us about Rachmaninoff marrying his first cousin, which Steph was horrified about! It happened in royalty, too - no wonder there are / were certain features like insanity and such with all the inbreeding! When I told my sibs that there was a site for cousins who marry / date their cousins (and also one for sugar daddies / applicants), they were shocked as well!

When I reinforced that hugging was NOT the same thing as making out, she had this pearl of wisdom: "Making out isn't necessarily sexy!" (I think she meant to say that making out doesn't necessarily lead to sex, but it came out wrong!) I immediately called my brother (on his way to a meeting) to tell him that, and Steph mentioned that Karmie had been in tears laughing over the "testicles / tentacles" story once! Harmony thought it was funny when we told her about it on Sunday, haha! We told her about the "Randy Libido" story, too... that was an awesome Thanksgiving 2006 dinner, all right!

I asked whether he'd be home tomorrow night for dinner with Vivian S. - no, since he has prayer meeting. Then we figured that at least we didn't have as many family dinners as Erin's family does - that was a funny conversation to observe! "But Ben's coming home at 7! I can't make it if the dinner's from 6 to 7:30!" "There's the Fellowship BBQ, Mom - I want to go there!" "Your cousins will be at the dinner!" "... we've dined with them a LOT lately! Wednesday to Saturday!" Poor Ben (Erin's boyfriend) is in for a LOT of those, let me tell you!

Ah, spending time at the Jazz Festival...

RIP, George Carlin. :(

My siblings picked Harmony up for church, then picked me up. We had an interesting discussion, during which HH was introduced to a bunch of family in-jokes: I couldn't believe that Jon told her about the real reason why I'd lost my 2006 bus pass! Not even Jeremy knows, I think... and he was around when Jon asked me about it way back then! Sure, Harmony's certainly going to be part of the family... but there are some things she doesn't really need to know! Talked about the wedding they'd attended last night (banquet was at the same Kirin as Melia's will be next week!), and it turns out that all four of us hadn't slept more than about six hours or so! (Jon had wondered why Steph's bedroom light was on at 2 AM when he went to take a shower... potent Viva Java coffee and a nap were to blame!) Discussed Holly's wedding plans briefly, since it IS wedding season! Talked about the "tentacles / testicles" mix-up: when Steph had told Karmie that story, she was crying with laughter! (I also told Harmony how Mom had confused hugging with making out - that had been the MOST AWKWARD CONVERSATION EVER!)

Found a seat next to Jeremy, whose mom had come down with the flu - no wonder they'd gone back early! Everyone laughed at the mistakes in the worship presentation, but it was fine. There were some awfully wide-eyed babies as pictures in Auntie Rebecca's Children's Ministry Sunday sermon, hehe. Went to the back parking lot to admire Micah, and say hi to various other children. Nicholas admired my shiny colorful Awana pins, while tugging at his mom Helen's sleeve to make her go home - ah, kids! Helen said she hasn't heard from Alex in a long time: the last she'd heard a couple years ago, he was going into the pastoral field. She did see Lauren last a bit ago, and at least she seems to be doing well. After saying hi to various others (including Acer, whose mom asked me whether I was going to some dinner), I hugged Auntie Catherine hello. It's nice that she wants to do something for my sister - Chinese snacks as a care package, yay!

Saw Erin's cousin Jason, so I had to talk to him - he was the "Edmonton person" that Christon had been talking about when he went there a couple years back. Jason insisted on taking a couple of pictures with me, one with his camera before it ran out of batteries, and one with Erin's. He gave me a standing invitation to visit South Edmonton - sounds good to me! At least he's coming back in August! After Sunday School, I went outside to find Jon and Jeremy saying that Eric had run off somewhere. We assumed he'd gone to the bank machine, and waited for everyone else to come back. I decided to go to the Jazz Festival with the guys and Harmony - the bus, Skytrain, and Gastown were crowded! We listened to a bunch of free jazz, while having good $6 burgers from Social at Le Magasin: Karen I. spotted me with my distinctive hat (from her mother-in-law!) and said hi. Jon and I said that she could drag Chung to this event next year, along with their baby in the stroller! Discussed wedding music, the Dragon Boat Festival, a jazzy cover of Oasis' CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA, smokies, aioli, and more. Eric gave me a ride home since Jon and Harmony were going to the Cirque de Soleil later - Windows, Linux, heat, life, and more... oh my!
