How can I reply in her chat window?!

Fred Allen: "I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me."

George Burns: "Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family in another city." (Speaking of large families, I've heard that Michelle Duggar has given birth to yet ANOTHER child, her 18th. What the?! I should see what the bad baby names forum has to say about this kid!)

Mandy (a_phoenixdragon) got my cards - I had to include a baby card for her newborn son with the Christmas card, though I'm not a fan of his name. She seems to love it, and certainly wasn't expecting the BONUS, hehe. Got a weird phone call from New Jersey: 1-856-932-1402, anyone? Also dreamed that I was trapped under my blankets again, and that it was totally dark outside at 10 AM when I finally got out of my room to see what was going on. The electricity refused to work, so of course everything inside AND out was dark - good thing it was only a dream!

I've tried to edit the below snippet into paragraphs, but it refuses to behave!

Last night, Corey and I were totally confused because of MSN:

[19:55:52] Flami: are you sure I can see you?
[19:56:31] Corey: ?

[20:01:18] *** "Corey" signed on at Fri Dec 19 20:01:18 2008.
[20:01:52] Corey: okay, what the hell? that "you can see me" was to Jane, and you replied to it, in her chat window...
[20:02:05] Corey: and you pasting what you got was in hers too :P
[20:02:28] Corey: and apparently you didn't get my reply to "did you get any sleep"
[20:04:50] Flami: what the hell is going on?!
[20:05:23] Corey: not sure, that was on my phone
[20:06:25] Corey: Jane asked if she could see me on my webcam, so I told her she could, and then you replied, in her window :P and when that happened, her picture went away and turned into a generic MSN logo.. it still said it was her, and you were still in another tab (phones don't have windows, really :P)
[20:07:24] Corey: definitely haven't seen that one before...
[20:07:51] Flami: I've heard of typing in the wrong window, but this is apparently really ridiculous...
[20:08:20] Corey: nope, it wasn't in the wrong window :P it apparently sent it to the wrong person
[20:08:35] Flami: I don't think I've seen that one before, either...

[20:10:04] Corey: I got an alert on my phone (time to work out!) as I was sending that, but that's the only weird thing that happened... and I don't see why that would mess it up. that's just another program doing something... my phone runs Windows Mobile, which works like regular Windows with multiple programs running all at once... so that shouldn't interfere with anything
[20:10:31] Corey: you can only see one thing at a time, though... there's an alt-tab type menu to switch through what's open
[20:17:09] Flami: hmm... then yes, that is odd...

The hallway smells like Chinese medicine!

I got a surprise in my mail today: Marie had sent me a Silver Screen Christmas card, which included a DVD of A Christmas Carol. So of course, I had to do up a card for her... as well as for Kelli and Eric H. (Why does he THINK that I needed his address in Regina? Well, besides Jon sending him a wedding invitation, hahaha...) Speaking of cards, Janina says she got mine: YAY! Don't know when I'll get out to mail these cards because of the snow outside - yes, I am aware that I survived Regina temperatures, but I'd still prefer to wait till this melts if possible.

Later, Diven called me to see whether I was decided about going to Fellowship yet. Last night when he asked whether I'd frozen any extremities off in the cold, I hadn't really thought about it. Too bad Sam and Ivan had a Committee meeting tonight, too! I decided to preserve my personal sense of safety and stay home - too bad, since I have stuff to give people like Grace / Chalaine / Raymond / Jeremy! With the extra time, I'm going to send people flowers / eggs / globes / bears... and do some laundry! The front hallway of the apartment building smells like Chinese medicine, oddly enough. Always good to have time to work on my personal projects, as well. :D

Vancouver cold is different from Regina's!

Talked to Corey about his dog-sitting experience for his sister: it doesn't sound fun if they're barking all the time OR doing things when your back is turned! At least I didn't have the care of dogs when I was in Chilliwack for a while, but I did approach letting them out with authority! Hopefully, they didn't detect any trepidation on my part!

Mats Sundin finally signed with the Canucks after months of waiting: sheesh! Billie got my Christmas card, and Denise M. added me on Facebook for the blood games. (James R. also added me from LJ) Eric's also confirmed that it's Friday tomorrow - sounds fine, but I don't know about waiting or walking in the cold, even if I did survive Regina without losing any extremities due to the substantially colder weather there! Linked me to a Half-Life 2 Episode 1 intro video as well, heh.

Jon says he has to be at church by 4, Sam and Ivan have a Committee meeting at 5:30, and so I'd have to be there really early or not go at all. I think I'll decide later, although with the weather out there... I dunno. Maybe I'll bus to the Pho place and back, since the 9 runs relatively frequently. We'll see!

A cop thinks he overdosed on weed...

High-scoring word of the night so far:

OOLONG (126 points) - against Steve L. [2W, two 3W]

There's SNOW outside - yikes! Margaret K. unfriended me on Facebook, but I thought it was going to happen. Oh well. I also see that Karen C. unfriended me on there, too - if someone's been getting to her "loyalty," I'll kill him! But Julie S. added me, so that's a good thing! And it's Trevor Linden Day - woohoo!

Last night, Corey and I were talking about various aspects of physical exercise, including how you shouldn't just focus on cardio OR running since runners look weak! Somehow, this grew into a discussion on cops and healthy eating...

[23:54:50] Flami: the hamsterette: yeah... those future cops need a lot of workout time
[23:57:02] Corey: that's until they become actual cops and sit around eating donuts instead of stopping crime :P
[23:58:26] Flami: they say that you need to eat lightly and have fresh healthy food, even on those 12-hour night shifts :P so I guess we'll see.
[00:01:46] Corey: well, look at older cops, are they like that? :P the young fresh ones will stick with it for a while
[00:03:13] Flami: I don't know... at least SOME of them aren't... but these new ones might, for now
[00:03:59] Corey: well, when they start getting into the confiscated weed, they get lazier and eat more :P
[00:27:46] Flami: ha ha ha. bed time now. goodnight
[00:29:49] Corey: watch that when you wake up then :P it's a policeman calling 911 for help, because he thinks he's overdosing on pot (which is almost impossible) ... he apparently barely had any, and tells them he thinks they're dying, and time is moving really slow, and all this stuff :P
[00:30:01] Corey: he got it from the stash of confiscated pot

Hahaha. I've seen the video now. Too funny!

Adolf Hitler Birthday Cake?

EASTON, Pa. – A supermarket is defending itself for refusing to write out 3-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell's name on his birthday cake. Deborah Campbell, 25, of nearby Hunterdon County, N.J., said she phoned in her order last week to the Greenwich ShopRite. When she told the bakery department she wanted her son's name spelled out, she was told to talk to a supervisor, who denied the request.

Karen Meleta, a ShopRite spokeswoman, said the store denied similar requests from the Campbells the last two years, including a request for a swastika.

"We reserve the right not to print anything on the cake that we deem to be inappropriate," Meleta said. "We considered this inappropriate."

The Campbells ultimately got their cake decorated at a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania, Deborah Campbell said Tuesday.

A Wal-Mart spokesman told The Associated Press on Wednesday that in light of the incident, the company would review its guidelines regarding cake decorations and other requests.

"It's clear that in serving this customer, some people were offended," spokesman Greg Rossiter said. "As a result, we're going to review our policies."

Heath Campbell said he named his son after Adolf Hitler because he liked the name and because "no one else in the world would have that name."

The Campbells' two other children are named JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell, who turns 2 in a few months, and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, who will be 1 in April.

Campbell said he was raised not to avoid people of other races, but not to mix with them socially or romantically. But he said he would try to raise his children differently.

"Say he grows up and hangs out with black people. That's fine, I don't really care," he said. "That's his choice."

He said about 12 people attended the birthday party Sunday, including several children of mixed race.

This guy is NUTS. How the hell did the names make it onto the kids' birth certificates?! I bet this made an appearance on the Bad Baby Names forum, too!

Home from Regina!

High-scoring word of the night so far:

LOATHER (242 points) - against Pat K. [two 4W]

Got up early and packed, and we were shortly on our way to brunch at the Bushwakker Pub after we hit a Sears Outlet store. I accepted a new ski jacket from my mom, and also read a book about stepwives: both Jon and I wondered why I was reading a book about ex-wives and stepmothers! She bought Turkish Delight for Harmony... reminds me of reading NARNIA with someone, haha. Mom originally didn't want to go to the pub because of time constraints, but our food cane quickly! (egg salad sandwiches on multi-grain bread, a roasted veggie wrap, Golden Draak from Belgium [I have had this beer before], and a Mother-In-Law... both stout AND bitter combined, haha!) Took a taxi to the airport from the car rental place, and found that our flight was delayed. Passed the time by reading, and was happy when we finally got on the plane. Recognized a few people from where we'd been, which was nice. ("we should have chartered a plane!")

Told my brother that I'd traveled in van cabs before - who do you think I was with at the time?! No, we didn't specifically request one (as we had to today, with a lot of luggage) - they just showed up when we called for one! Stopped in Calgary for a bit, where we dozed off. It was good to be back in Vancouver - yup, just insert references to your hometown so the cab drivers don't fleece you! (wonder what one felt when someone was dissing the city while I was with him...) When Mom mentioned that Auntie Christina would come to Regina, both Jon and I thought of Megan's mom first. Our reaction was "... Auntie Christina? Why would SHE come to Regina?! .... OH! You mean Citrus' mom, and Uncle Rex!" Hahaha.

Got home at 6:20, and caught up on stuff. Just heard a reference to the ocarina - how could you not know the Zelda game? It'll be good to have some downtime (and editing) before the flurry starts up again, compounded by the holidays! There's a snowfall warning in effect here... last night was way colder, walking after the grad dinner! Got ten phone calls while I was gone, and half were from blocked numbers. 1-616-980-2886 (Michigan), 1-224-543-7040 (Illinois), 1-403-770-0523 (Calgary), and 1-980-394-6090 (New Jersey) also called me. At least when I sleep tonight, I don't have to hear snoring or see lights! But it was a cool trip, though... Corey and I are now talking about using certain secondary sex characteristics as a tool for expedited shipping before 2009, haha. Speaking of mail, I got a Christmas card from Candy / George / the pets. Odd, but much appreciated!

Some quizzes that I need to catch up on:

Gingerbread mitts are so CUTE!

Was up a little later than yesterday, but it was still rather cold outside. Went to the swearing-in ceremony this morning, then had brunch in the cadet lounge. Sat at Jeff's table, or so Steph said. (someone in the family workshop video yesterday is Jeff's partner's wife!) She has to stay two more days to learn some extra training, and then she can go. A kind soul gave me and Jon a ride to the grad facility after he noticed I was having trouble walking on the iced-over snow. We didn't bother telling him that this trouble is pretty much permanent. (but we did thank him very politely, with a SIR!) After that, we watched them do drills and get badges. Looked at the photo board that Steph put together: tossed rooms, firearms, various aspects of life there, etc. SWEET! (but the yearbook was overpriced)

People chuckled when it was mentioned that some guy was from Fort Mac and would be going TO that city to work in his first posting. There were a bunch of people from / going to BC, which was cool. (REPRESENT!) Went to the mall this afternoon while Jon checked out the Aegean Coffee Shop - he'd checked out Muddy Joe's this morning. Had a Candy Cane Latte from Second Cup, and helped the girls push a cart around Dollarama - all the stuff is actually a dollar, unlike other dollar stores! (Viv stocked her Montreal apartment with Dollarama purchases!)

Found a cute gingerbread mitt, but they couldn't find any fishbowls. (they're not getting fish - it's a joke) Went to the dinner tonight, too - my sibs couldn't resist buying me a strawberry daiquiri Bacardi Breezer (5%) and a Smirnoff Ice (7%) - Dad didn't want me to get hungover, haha. I'll be FINE since I actually had a full meal too, including roast beef / perogies / cabbage rolls (Mennonite food - red cabbage from Jeremy, anyone?) / veggies / buns / cheesecake / metallic chlorinated water / other stuff. [Jon had a Pilsner, and Steph affirmed to her friend that the family was all drinkers!]

Took pictures of a fake cake, and met the parents of one of Steph's good friends. Everyone looked GREAT, haha... Citrus had to do some work, so Steph urged him to leave discreetly before the speeches started. Some of the kids of the new members look SO CUTE! Home tomorrow, where the first order of business will be to sleep OR play my long-delayed Wordscraper moves whilst editing! (Updating Andrew, Raymond, Corey, Erik, and Chinese Eric now... hot pot is NOT an illegal substance, but a nice winter meal! Also discussed grammar, quotes, Chinese words, and more. Andrew's custom emoticon for "see you later" reminds me of when K would use those all the time... deciphering that amongst the usual stuff got tedious!)

Dec. 29 (Monday) - some shindig that Johnny, Raymond, and Chuck invited me to (cooking dinner for respective small groups!)
Jan. 3 (Saturday) - Elaine and Matt's wedding reception. I should go to that one, since I already confirmed my attendance at that event. (hoped it wouldn't conflict with Jon and Harmony's engagement party... sigh)

Mangoes and papaya do not belong on local farms for a school project!

Had dinner at a place called Brewster's - Steph's friend's car wouldn't start, so they took a cab over to the restaurant instead. (they'll ship the car to her posting!) It was interesting: had jambalaya, beer, pasta, bison burger, and more. Talked about "NICE" guys, in-jokes, embarrassing stories, the flat water, Harmony's last name, missing special events, CROSS COUNTRY CANADA, riding horses / bikes, teaching, compassion for little brothers, Mom's initial impression of Billie ("is she in a GANG and from a BROKEN FAMILY since you met her online?!"), Vivian and Vanessa being REALLY alike, interesting stories from Steph's injury time ("she had to dress me - can you put on these clothing items for me?"), crying facilitators, lazy choir members, getting kicked out of Timothy camp, and Asian discipline. Kids are so over-scheduled these days that homework seems to be BANNED! Some things are also inappropriate to be grown on BC farms: mangoes, papaya, powdered milk, etc. Do these kids know how to be social, with the Nintendo DS and similar things?! Yikes! Steph actually paid for most of the meal: the "washroom" trick strikes again, from a sneaky ninja!

Mom asked me earlier if I still talked to Korey: of course not! Jon said that some people do talk with their exes, which I am well aware of. But I'm not doing it right now: even my guru says it's not a good idea! (we discussed white Eric, Christmas songs, embarrassment, tomorrow's plans, English sweets, and more) Now I'm just briefly touching base with Corey and Chinese Eric: new minivans with cool features, "bribery" as a value, cold temperatures, the Taser incident at the airport, surviving the deep freeze, and more.

That is one awesome bottle of frozen water!

Went to chapel service this morning after breakfast, when it was -47 degrees out. One of the members' last names is PHO... hahaha, it amused me and my brother! It was interesting to be at an ecumenical service in two languages, and the choir did a good job - had an interesting dinner last night, where we heard many amusing stories from Steph and Citrus. Then we got into who Kid Koala was, joke replies to someone you're not interested in ("I'm not going, but my brother would LOVE to go!" "This is Uncle Alan speaking: WHO ARE YOU?!"), and an iPhone in-joke. Jon said he saw someone use their phone at a urinal... uh, that's gotta be at least a bit awkward! Vivian and Vanessa saw a guy start for the bathroom in Pearl Castle, then turn around and pick up his iPhone... he was using it all night to ignore being social, even with his girlfriend at the table! Yeah, I bet that's what certain people do who really truly do lack social skills!

Waited for pictures to be taken (all that red!), then had brunch at the mess hall. Met a few of Steph's fellow members, and learned that they all know about my proclivity for alcohol. Yeah... I refuse to be the cheap entertainment at tomorrow's formal dinner, thanks! After that, we went to a family workshop, then to the Heritage Museum. Very interesting, as it parallels Canada's history - lots of stories and things to explore! Now we're just crashing at the hotel till dinner. The five of us (minus parentals) might do something tonight if we have the car, heh. Tomorrow holds the grad ceremony, drill, stuff in the afternoon, and the formal dinner. Should be interesting... thank goodness it isn't as slippery as I thought it was going to be! (although I hear it snowed in Vancouver too...) Rumors are that we'll go to the Bushwakker pub for lunch on Tuesday, yay! (Vanessa and Vivian leave earlier, though) We left a bottle of water in the car after brunch, and it had turned to ice a few hours later! (the windows were totally frozen too!)

Jon and Harmony did invite me to their engagement party, which should be cool. Eric replied saying that he needed an alibi (it's being held at the Alibi Room), so I said that he shouldn't worry about one since he's an intelligent criminal! Not for real, but he WAS reading my copy of These Aren't My Pants!: The Dumbest and Dimmest from the Files of America's Dumbest Criminals in 2001 when he was over at my house for a get-together. In his guestbook entry for that time, he wrote "I am wearing my pants and I'm not a dumb criminal. I am an intelligent one. Just kidding." Hahaha... he probably doesn't remember that, but I do. :D

Edit: We're going for dinner at some other pub, and one of Steph's friends is coming along. Should be interesting times.
