Penis defects / Sex addicts / Trust in friends

I accidentally fell asleep, and got up at 6:45. Since I thought that Lillian hadn't called because she wanted me to have a break, I called Jon to discuss the day's developments like Big G talking more. It's true that the lards could know already, but we don't know that. He's free tomorrow, so we'll figure it out then. Lillian called at 7:15, and said that Yvonne had seen Grandma, who had eaten some congee and slept a little. She said she'd leave it up to me whether to go out again; I decided not to because we can always see her tomorrow after lunch. I managed to finally finish the Duncan's Factory dungeon in MOTHER 1 with this extra time, so YAY! Also called Chinese Eric, and the call lasted over an hour: we talked about recent events in my life, 9/11 and his other grandma getting worse on that date (quite emotional day for his family), the Olympics, America's "Dream Team" / "Redemption Team," Canada's bronze medal, his health, basketball, the intense working pace in Hong Kong, and preferring to do things at night.

We also discussed T&T lineups, nursing homes and his grandma, movie theatres being pricey and less convenient in this Internet age, EXTREME COUPONING (we know where to go in case the world ends!), TABOO, HOARDERS: BURIED ALIVE, STRANGE SEX, the closure of Famous Players in Richmond Centre, hanging out with me being a good thing for him, reality TV, comfort, care decisions, and more. He says he'll pray for Grandma, who seems very nice to him. (I thanked him for that, of course) Then again, I thanked him for being there, and he said that it shows that I must trust him. That earned him a "Of COURSE that's true - you think I've been hanging out with you for the last nine or ten years, and DON'T trust you?! Eric, you're crazy, man!" from me, hahaha.

STRANGE SEX tonight: A guy who can have seven orgasms in 14 minutes (and who discussed polyamory with his wife), and a guy who has a giantess fetish. Then it was a divorced mother of two who has a secret double life as a stripper and a sex addict, plus a guy who suffers from a birth defect where the hole normally located at the tip of the penis is instead located on the underside. He then discovered he was gay while his wife was pregnant with twins.

Epic good timing / Magic Radimvice Den / Another 4-2 loss

Woke up with about an hour to spare till the weekly tradition, and thought I could just have a solo Hero in the Den of Radimvice to cast magic only. We'll see how that pans out later tonight! I heard that Subway is having $5 footlongs again, so maybe I'll get one tomorrow. Vented to James and FFAF, then talked to Talia on AIM - not too bad! Steph and Lisa bumped into Mom and Dad at the border crossing this afternoon, but it was a good thing I didn't go to the States. TOO MUCH STUFF GOING ON! I had to rejoin Random Thought because I had to read a post by Lance (godsstepson) wanting me back, haha. (courtesy of vodkabeforenoon) Good thing David K. (korczyk) deleted his journal!

DAMMIT. I left to go do something important (and EPIC with good timing), and get back to the score being 1-0 for the bad guys with 8.6 seconds left. UGH. GO CANUCKS GO! You haven't been down 2-0 in a series since 2001! But they are now, since the Kings won the game 4-2, courtesy of two shorthanded goals by Dustin Brown. Sounded pretty brutal. *sigh* History shows that they've never come back from the deficit. :(

4-3 REVENGE against Bruins! / EARTHBOUND and Mr. Saturn!

At home yesterday after making mushroom soup, I managed to start up a game of EARTHBOUND since I could do so from some semblance of memory. Now that I'm here at the library and have brought my laptop with me, I also copied and pasted the FF VI walkthrough I've been using to Word, so I can do that at home also! I asked Ryan to keep me updated on the game just in case I didn't wake up in time, and he did. He's a sweetheart, although I kinda wonder if I'd be saying that if Vancouver hadn't won 4-3!

Eric said he'd check the connection problem out tomorrow after church, which is fair enough since I don't want to bother him any more than I have to. I know the C94 doesn't run on Sundays anyhow, so hopefully it'll be fine then, although I'm not holding my breath! Sonya seems to have deleted her FB account again, too.

Comfort, boundaries, carefulness, and privacy! / Loyalty

For some reason, Paul woke up at 8:40 and started doing stuff in the kitchen. Of course, that woke ME up as well - I was NOT impressed! I'm surprised I made sense while talking to him about Phil, gangs, Uncle Eugene not being my real uncle (it's a cultural thing - just like we told Eric when he got here in 2001), NOT keeping him company (I NEED DOWNTIME!), his plans for today, spare keys, his NOT using my computer (I'm being very careful), and such. When he left at 9-ish, I went straight back to bed and didn't get up till noon... BLISS! I spent time writing stuff in the birthday cards for Mandy (a_phoenixdragon), Jeremy, and Christon before doing the "computer shuffle" and taking the expensive things out of my room where I'd stored them overnight. COMFORT, BOUNDARIES, AND PRIVACY! (and he wondered WHY the bedroom was the place where I conducted phone calls... *rolleyes* )

You Are Somewhat Loyal

You are loyal when it makes sense to be, but you don't go overboard with loyalty.

You're all about second chances, but if someone or something screws up enough - you're out of there.

You have a clear and fair sense of the world. You aren't necessarily going to side with someone just because they are close to you.

Right and wrong mean more to you than personal alliances. Justice trumps loyalty for you.

This is why I do certain things when it comes to certain people. DO NOT QUESTION IT.

Word Facts for Feb. 12-18, 2011

Word origin for the weekend of Feb. 12-13, 2011: Fibonacci sequence - Recursive numbers, the golden ratio, and other such mathematical problems are the lifeblood of modern computers, but someone once had to figure them out by hand and in the head. One such math whiz was a medieval Italian named Leonardo Fibonacci, who first put to paper a sequence of numbers formed by adding the previous two values: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, ...

Word origin for Feb. 14, 2011: cougar - Why should the sometimes-lethal mountain lion inspire a term for an older woman interested in younger men? The answer lies in the slang spoken in British Columbia. The term would likely have remained a localism had not two Vancouver women started an online dating service, cougardate.com, in 1999. English-born Canadian actress Kim Cattrall introduced it to the popular cable TV series Sex and the City in 2001, and an idiom was born.

Word origin for Feb. 15, 2011: hang a Ralph - In New England, this instruction means not to execute someone whose ancient Norse name means "wise wolf," but instead to turn right while driving. In the mid-Atlantic states, the phrase "hang a roscoe" is heard to mean the same thing - and "hang a right," of course, is heard everywhere. All date to 1960s youth slang and probably derive from the surfing phrase "hang five" or "hang ten," referring to the position of the feet on the surfboard.

Word origin for Feb. 16, 2011: theory - The abstract word "theory," meaning a kind of learned speculation about why something is the way it is, has an eminently concrete origin in the Greek verb theasthai, which means "to be an onlooker" or, more pointedly in this case, "to look at closely." The word entered science through the vehicle of religion, in which a "theory" was a conjecture about the nature of the divine.

Word origin for Feb. 17, 2011: platoon - The first military units called "platoons" were formed in the late Middle Ages, employing early firearms that fired "pellets" - crude bullets, that is. In French, this pellet-firing bunch was called a peleton. Imported as "platoon," the word came to be applied to a small group of soldiers, usually infantry.

Word origin for Feb. 18, 2011: globalism - As coined by media maven Marshall McLuhan, the "global village" was a place in which national boundaries were secondary to cultural ones - the global influence of popular music being a case in point. Economists borrowed the idea to mean that national markets would have no barriers to entry - hence, under "globalism," a company could do business wherever it wanted.

I'm not that familiar with the US [21:52:38] NyquilSteve317: oh [21:52:40] NyquilSteve317: it's pretty [21:52:43] NyquilSteve317: thats all [21:52:51] NyquilSteve317: we might be getting company [21:52:55] NyquilSteve317: unless they went to sleep [21:53:10] NyquilSteve317: women gossip, what are we gossiping about [21:53:41] guaaaache: gossip bores me [21:53:48] guaaaache: which is probably why I have no women friends [21:54:03] NyquilSteve317: well, women be bitches [21:54:08] NyquilSteve317: fag time [21:54:19] guaaaache: I also have no interest in talking about how guys are hot [21:54:24] guaaaache: it's so boring [21:57:46] NyquilSteve317: guys are ugly [21:58:00] NyquilSteve317: women are pretty [21:58:01] NyquilSteve317: women are just naturally pretty pictures [21:58:09] NyquilSteve317: men are just ugly pictures [21:58:14] guaaaache: I don't really see it [21:58:26] NyquilSteve317: i do [21:58:33] NyquilSteve317: i think of like wild critters being pretty [21:58:35] NyquilSteve317: same with women [21:58:38] NyquilSteve317: men are just bleh [21:58:38] guaaaache: I mean I don't see ANYONE and think "they are hot" [21:58:43] guaaaache: I don't know what that means [21:58:44] NyquilSteve317: i don't think hot [21:58:47] NyquilSteve317: i think pretty [21:58:48] Flami: I don't really do that, either [21:58:53] NyquilSteve317: or gorgeous, but not in a sexual way [21:58:55] guaaaache: I really don't care whether someone is hot or not anyway [21:59:06] guaaaache: if I can't have a conversation with them, it doesn't matter either way [21:59:31] Flami: I've met only one guy in the past bit whom I've thought was good-looking [21:59:40] guaaaache: I kind hate that 'attractive' is synonymous with 'pretty' [21:59:46] guaaaache: or handsome, whatever [21:59:51] NyquilSteve317: i see that [22:00:15] guaaaache: see what? [22:00:53] NyquilSteve317: the friar [22:01:06] NyquilSteve317: the attractive pretty thing [22:01:25] guaaaache: I don't see how pretty = attractive [22:01:28] NyquilSteve317: i can want to bang the hell out of someone, and not find them "pretty" [22:01:35] guaaaache: but I make all these weird differentiations that a lot of people don't seem to [22:01:46] guaaaache: I can find someone pretty without feeling attracted to them [22:01:52] NyquilSteve317: oh exatly [22:02:05] guaaaache: but then I also think there's a difference between 'smart' and 'educated' [22:02:11] NyquilSteve317: absolutely [22:02:14] guaaaache: which has offended quite a few people because they misunderstood [22:02:29] NyquilSteve317: only a well-edjumacated idiot couldn't see the difference [22:02:45] guaaaache: I had to leave a bar once because this guy would not stop following me around and yelling at me [22:02:47] NyquilSteve317: i know a lot of stupid well-educated people [22:03:44] NyquilSteve317: and they use their education as an excuse, or some false sense of superiority [22:03:50] guaaaache: he said about half an hour earlier that he didn't know much about grammar, and i said "that's because we weren't educated about that in school". he walked away for 20 minutes, then came back and said: "you know, I really don't appreciate you calling me stupid before." [22:04:00] Flami: HA [22:04:19] guaaaache: no matter how much I tried to explain that I said "lack of education" not "lack of intelligence," he just wouldn't get it [22:04:34] guaaaache: not really fair that I had to leave, but there was no other option [22:04:43] Flami: well, you did what you had to [22:04:51] NyquilSteve317: i hate people [22:05:08] NyquilSteve317: its amazing how many people don't have rhythm [22:05:27] guaaaache: that guy was really drunk. most people piss me off when they're too drunk [22:05:33] NyquilSteve317: cept black people [22:05:34] guaaaache: ironically. I have to be drunk to deal with them [22:05:36] NyquilSteve317: they all got rhythm [22:07:50] guaaaache: I'm going to write "an asking for advice" post on boring people some time during the week [22:07:53] guaaaache: hope that shit is allowed [22:08:01] NyquilSteve317: cut it, and you're fine [22:08:10] NyquilSteve317: and expect a snarky remark from me [22:08:10] guaaaache: is this a new rule? [22:08:15] NyquilSteve317: no, it's stated [22:08:18] guaaaache: I expect no less [22:08:26] NyquilSteve317: i'm not the nazi here [22:08:31] NyquilSteve317: i'm low on the totem pole [22:08:34] NyquilSteve317: i just do as i'm told [22:08:42] guaaaache: what word count is allowed outside a cut? [22:08:48] NyquilSteve317: 3 [22:08:54] guaaaache: sweet [22:09:00] guaaaache: I could write "fuck you all" [22:09:06] NyquilSteve317: if it requires scrolling, it is too long [22:09:16] guaaaache: my last post didn't require scrolling [22:09:27] NyquilSteve317: on my netbook, it did [22:09:30] NyquilSteve317: it's basically a [22:09:35] NyquilSteve317: HERE'S MY HEADLINE [22:09:35] guaaaache: the whole thing fit on my screen [22:09:37] NyquilSteve317: read more about it [22:10:03] NyquilSteve317: again, i don't make da rules [22:10:22] guaaaache: I know. just saying [22:10:31] Flami: *wishes Laura were here* [22:10:37] NyquilSteve317: i'm the fun one [22:10:40] NyquilSteve317: who is laura? [22:10:42] guaaaache: how rude, we're right here [22:10:49] Flami: not in that way [22:10:56] guaaaache: I never see the third mod [22:11:10] Flami: she was saying that we should do something about the mods [22:11:10] NyquilSteve317: well, if we are using real names, i get confused [22:11:14] NyquilSteve317: amber [22:11:17] Flami: tallymonster [22:11:17] NyquilSteve317: who is the main mod [22:11:24] NyquilSteve317: she is the founder founder [22:11:26] Flami: not you, Steve. [22:11:38] NyquilSteve317: huh? [22:11:52] guaaaache: what was she saying we should do about the mods? [22:11:55] guaaaache: and which mod is the founder? [22:12:01] Flami: kick Mariah out [22:12:11] NyquilSteve317: amber and mariah started it [22:12:18] guaaaache: ah ok [22:12:31] NyquilSteve317: amber is busy in life and doesn't have time to tend it [22:12:35] NyquilSteve317: so she put mariah in charge [22:12:44] NyquilSteve317: and mariah added me cos she is also busy [22:12:48] NyquilSteve317: so i just take orders [22:12:48] guaaaache: mariah is also busy and doesn't have time, from what it seems [22:12:55] guaaaache: what you just said [22:12:57] NyquilSteve317: cos i can be revoked at any time [22:13:09] guaaaache: do you know her? [22:13:11] NyquilSteve317: yes [22:13:14] NyquilSteve317: she is a good friend of mine [22:13:26] NyquilSteve317: very interesting person [22:13:29] NyquilSteve317: i know you all hate her [22:13:43] guaaaache: I don't hate her, I've barely talked to her [22:13:44] Flami: ah, you just take orders... and you know her [22:13:48] guaaaache: she basically never comments [22:13:56] Flami: except to create drama or something [22:13:59] guaaaache: I think I had one exchange with her 2 or so years ago [22:14:24] guaaaache: about housing for students in the US [22:14:39] guaaaache: she maybe used to live in NY, but I can't remember [22:14:47] NyquilSteve317: yes [22:15:02] guaaaache: she studied in NY then, if I remember right [22:15:34] NyquilSteve317: yeah [22:16:05] NyquilSteve317: brb [22:16:11] guaaaache: ok [22:19:57] NyquilSteve317: im all back [22:20:29] guaaaache: I just found out I own that movie Teeth [22:20:34] guaaaache: don't really know what I think of it [22:20:46] NyquilSteve317: ew [22:20:51] NyquilSteve317: tooth vagina syndrome [22:20:58] guaaaache: that would come in handy [22:21:00] guaaaache: as it did for her [22:21:02] NyquilSteve317: bite off the dick [22:21:03] guaaaache: several times [22:21:09] Flami: ouch [22:21:09] guaaaache: and that dude's fingers [22:21:14] NyquilSteve317: south mouth [22:21:14] guaaaache: her gyno molested her [22:21:24] guaaaache: the teeth can come in handy [22:21:29] NyquilSteve317: they have penis traps for women in africa now [22:21:32] NyquilSteve317: cos rape is so bad [22:21:36] guaaaache: yeah [22:21:50] NyquilSteve317: guy rapes you... bars that have to be surgically removed on his wang [22:21:57] NyquilSteve317: hard to explain that one [22:22:04] guaaaache: but they have a huge problem with rape involving objects [22:22:08] NyquilSteve317: what if you forgot to take it out [22:22:11] guaaaache: so the penis trap won't do anything there [22:22:15] NyquilSteve317: no [22:22:21] NyquilSteve317: people are horrible [22:22:27] NyquilSteve317: how the fuck could anybody do that to anyone [22:22:42] NyquilSteve317: again, my assasin card would come in handy [22:22:43] guaaaache: some women are raped with objects so huge that the skin between their anus and vagina tears completely [22:23:03] NyquilSteve317: weird [22:23:05] NyquilSteve317: poor taints [22:23:10] guaaaache: then they're completely shunned because the muscle is damaged so they can't control their bowels [22:23:11] NyquilSteve317: how do you get past that one [22:23:24] NyquilSteve317: it's terrible [22:23:26] Flami: horrible, yeah... [22:23:28] guaaaache: they just randomly shit all over themselves [22:23:31] guaaaache: they can't control it [22:23:39] NyquilSteve317: africa scares the hell out of me [22:23:45] guaaaache: yeah [22:23:56] NyquilSteve317: i don't understand how that is ok, how living the way so many of them live [22:24:05] NyquilSteve317: in such horrible awful conditions [22:24:14] NyquilSteve317: and the rest of the world is like, meh whatevuh [22:24:20] guaaaache: I don't understand people who say we shouldn't bother trying to help [22:24:30] NyquilSteve317: butcher hundreds of thousands of people with machetes... eh, whatever [22:24:40] NyquilSteve317: tutzis and hulus [22:24:45] NyquilSteve317: rwanda [22:24:47] NyquilSteve317: all that shit [22:24:52] NyquilSteve317: we were just like.... whatevuh [22:25:01] NyquilSteve317: the UN tried to help [22:25:03] NyquilSteve317: but still [22:25:11] NyquilSteve317: it's the UN, and they don't have as much pull as they did [22:25:11] guaaaache: yeah [22:25:37] NyquilSteve317: not to be racist, but if they had oil or were white, the US would have sent all our troops to stop it [22:25:40] guaaaache: I hate it when someone has a problem, and almost always, another person will say: "well, it could be worse, think about those people in africa" [22:25:42] Flami: yeah... [22:25:46] guaaaache: that doesn't make ME feel better. why would it? [22:26:04] guaaaache: true [22:26:07] NyquilSteve317: wasn't relevant to our interests [22:26:10] NyquilSteve317: so who gives a shit [22:26:35] NyquilSteve317: see a sad little white kid starving, we feel bad... see a starving little black kid... who gives a shit [22:26:47] NyquilSteve317: well, that's just how "they" are [22:26:56] NyquilSteve317: not even understand that they are people [22:27:00] NyquilSteve317: just like anyone else [22:27:26] guaaaache: I sometimes wonder if racism will ever die. it would require people to question their automatic thoughts, so probably not [22:27:32] guaaaache: implicit racism is scary [22:27:38] guaaaache: you don't even know you're thinking something [22:27:44] NyquilSteve317: i have a problem with black people being racist against whites [22:27:53] NyquilSteve317: it's more and more common in my area [22:27:56] guaaaache: I have a problem with it in general [22:28:01] guaaaache: it's like that a lot here too [22:28:06] NyquilSteve317: i live in one of the most racially-segragated cities in the US [22:28:07] guaaaache: some of the blacks are scary as hell [22:28:23] NyquilSteve317: i don't owe anybody anything [22:28:30] NyquilSteve317: and you don't owe anybody anything [22:28:33] Flami: some of them can be [22:28:34] NyquilSteve317: so stop feeling entitled [22:28:38] NyquilSteve317: and hating me for being white [22:28:50] guaaaache: the aborigines are still treated terribly here [22:28:56] guaaaache: they don't trust white people [22:29:07] guaaaache: which is validated a lot, but still [22:29:19] NyquilSteve317: the hilarity of america is that the races are so mixed, that if you go down the line, you will find someone of the opposite color [22:29:31] NyquilSteve317: im an 8th black [22:29:35] NyquilSteve317: im white as fuck [22:29:45] NyquilSteve317: but im an 8th black [22:29:59] NyquilSteve317: and a lot of "black" people are as white as i am genetically [22:29:59] NyquilSteve317: but they got the black genes [22:30:11] NyquilSteve317: that were dominant [22:30:12] guaaaache: throwbacks, probably [22:30:16] NyquilSteve317: it's silly [22:30:23] NyquilSteve317: but people are too dumb to see this [22:30:36] guaaaache: interestingly, there are no throwbacks in aboriginal genetics [22:30:41] NyquilSteve317: oh yeah? [22:30:44] guaaaache: they could literally be bred out of existence [22:30:47] NyquilSteve317: the aboriginals of aussie amaze me [22:30:47] guaaaache: which is what people tried to do [22:30:58] NyquilSteve317: they are like our indians [22:31:06] NyquilSteve317: our poor indians got sooooooo fucked [22:31:11] NyquilSteve317: and still get fucked [22:31:14] NyquilSteve317: the few remaining ones [22:31:18] guaaaache: same with our aborigines [22:31:30] NyquilSteve317: and it's like if anyone has a right to be pissed about anything, it's them [22:31:40] NyquilSteve317: and they keep their mouths shut [22:31:43] guaaaache: they're still segregated as much as possible [22:31:43] NyquilSteve317: for the most part [22:31:50] NyquilSteve317: we still have reservations [22:32:05] NyquilSteve317: but the indians use it to their advantage now [22:32:06] guaaaache: we have entire apartment blocks specifically set aside for just them [22:32:13] Flami: oh dear [22:32:13] guaaaache: keep them out of sight. it's terrible [22:32:27] NyquilSteve317: they can have casinos [22:32:38] NyquilSteve317: which is good, because before that, they were horribly impoverished [22:32:49] NyquilSteve317: and they are actually outside the laws of the US in most cases [22:32:57] NyquilSteve317: if you step on to a reservation, you are in their world [22:33:06] Flami: same here [22:33:07] guaaaache: most aborigines can't get jobs here because no one wants to hire them [22:33:12] guaaaache: same with them trying to find housing [22:33:28] NyquilSteve317: the prob with your abs is that they are clearly not white [22:33:47] guaaaache: it's complicated because it's hard to know what would work as a solution [22:33:53] NyquilSteve317: native americans can blend in for some sort of spanish or something [22:34:05] NyquilSteve317: and again, im an 8th indian too [22:34:06] guaaaache: their ancestors lead a very different lifestyle than the one they would have to integrate into [22:34:19] guaaaache: if they wanted to [22:34:20] NyquilSteve317: do i flaunt it, identify with it [22:34:21] NyquilSteve317: no [22:34:25] NyquilSteve317: i don't care, cos im an american [22:34:27] NyquilSteve317: thats what i am [22:34:50] NyquilSteve317: and americans have a hard time with that [22:34:59] guaaaache: I'm in the unfortunate position of being white, and having other whites assume I'm 'on their side' [22:35:07] guaaaache: of which there are none [22:35:51] guaaaache: one girl once told me, 'there are not enough aussies in the country for there to be white supremacy' [22:35:53] guaaaache: I assume by 'aussies,' she meant 'white people' [22:35:58] NyquilSteve317: ha [22:36:02] guaaaache: and if that's the case, she is referring to more than 90% of the population [22:36:34] guaaaache: it's depressing how ignorant some people are [22:36:36] guaaaache: and not just that, but they don't want to learn, either [22:36:50] Flami: HA [22:37:00] NyquilSteve317: well, that's where i differ, which is great... cos i will argue the fuck out of something till someone clearly has better points than me [22:37:14] NyquilSteve317: and then i will listen and change my point of view [22:37:38] guaaaache: I don't really mind if someone disagrees with me, as long as it's clear they've done some thinking to reach their conclusion [22:37:50] NyquilSteve317: yes! [22:37:51] guaaaache: thinking, reading, self-educating, etc [22:37:54] NyquilSteve317: yes! [22:38:04] NyquilSteve317: i can agree to disagree with someone who knows their shit [22:38:11] NyquilSteve317: not just THIS IS HOW IT IS COS IT IS! [22:38:32] guaaaache: 'that's society, you can't change it' [22:38:54] NyquilSteve317: yup [22:38:55] NyquilSteve317: brb [22:40:09] guaaaache: I kinda just want to watch movies for the rest of my life [22:40:18] guaaaache: I need more... ambitions or something [22:41:06] Flami: so do I [22:41:36] Flami: have you heard of a place called Booti Booti National Park? [22:41:43] guaaaache: no? [22:42:26] guaaaache: where is it [22:43:28] Flami: according to this book, it's in New South Wales [22:43:34] NyquilSteve317: i just had a dude with an eyepatch ask to use my phone [22:44:02] NyquilSteve317: 1:40 AM... dude with eyepatch wants to use my phone to call his ex-gf cos his number is blocked on her phone [22:44:06] guaaaache: what part of NSW? [22:44:11] NyquilSteve317: hell yes, you can use it! [22:44:23] guaaaache: where was this dude? [22:44:43] NyquilSteve317: down the street... he hollered at me [22:44:50] Flami: I don't know [22:44:50] NyquilSteve317: i didn't see him at first [22:45:01] Flami: oh dear [22:45:03] NyquilSteve317: i think he lives down the street [22:45:18] NyquilSteve317: but still, eye patch... ex-gf... it was awesome [22:45:34] NyquilSteve317: he was little... unless he was packin, i coulda taken him [22:45:39] NyquilSteve317: so i didn't care [22:45:48] NyquilSteve317: and since he lives down the road, it's not like i couldn't get my phone back [22:49:03] guaaaache: Leslie, looks like that Booti Booti place is on a little island or something [22:49:17] guaaaache: quite a bit north compared to where I am [22:49:19] NyquilSteve317: i want an island [22:50:23] Flami: ah, okay [22:50:32] guaaaache: it would alleviate my misanthropy to have one [22:50:46] guaaaache: it's like between Newcastle and Port Macquarie, which I guess means very little [22:50:57] NyquilSteve317: newcastle is a beer for kats

Waldo is in my pants!

Eric called earlier than I was expecting, so of course I didn't have the phone on. He says he has to be at church early, so will be here at around 5:40 or so. That works, if I can fit stuff in! Of course, redrum has to start now - at least it's not my birthday? Haha. He's here now, at 5:55!

High-scoring words of the night:

LEAKY (261 points; two 3W), HUNTRESS (264 points; two 4W, hook off DOER for a plural), YEA (144 points; 4W, 3W used twice, hook off DO to make ADO) - against Neal D.

ROOKING (104 points) - against George M. [2W, 4W]
MAYBE (682 points) - against Chris A. [two 5W, 4L on M, hook on IT to make BIT]

I should get to sleep, since I really lost track of time by doing that mini-project!

Trivia fact for Thursday, Aug. 12: What actress used the pseudonym Olga Mallsnerd in the film credits for 2010, the 1984 sequel to the sci-fi classic 2001: A Space Odyssey? Candace Bergen, who provided the voice for the HAL 9000 computer. The name Mallsnerd was created by combining the surname of her then-husband, director Louis Malle, with that of Mortimer Snerd, one of the puppets of her ventriloquist father Edgar Bergen.

Purple potatoes from Best Buy, Jordan and Thomas in water, Robin dead

I had a weird dream last night: My friends wanted to make cake, so I went along with them. However, I got interrupted by an emergency phone call when we were in the process of actually putting it together. It was nothing IMPORTANT to me, but Dylan certainly sounded stressed! For his sake, I suggested to everyone else that we try to make one special item just for him. Everyone else was amenable to this, so we inserted only the BEST purple potatoes from Best Buy (WTF?) in a certain cake after ensuring that it wouldn't do anything crazy to the recipe. Once everything was ready, we were off to the fellowship hall (which somehow looked like a restaurant?!), where Dylan was in charge of a gathering. He said that there would be three special cakes in the food offerings, and only certain people were allowed to touch those! One of them was our potato cake, another one was orange with candles on it, and the other one had a lot of fancy tiers. After that, Mom was annoying everyone around her (especially me and my siblings) by wanting to switch tables - NO, we told her. She wasn't impressed, but there was nothing she could do.

When the gathering had finished, we all went into a nearby nondescript brown building to mingle. The walls were sea green, and the communal area downstairs looked like an industrial plant. There was an area where the kids were told NOT to go - the trains servicing the area would go there, and we didn't want them to die! Despite repeated warnings, Jordan and Thomas explored it ANYWAY. Rich was talking to some old ladies nearby, and I called him for assistance; nobody seemed to mind that I said, "RICH! HELP ME GET THESE KIDS THE FUCK AWAY FROM THIS AREA!" (not even the myriad children or their parents!) He responded to the urgency in my voice, and helped me do just that. A while later, we spotted Jordan and Thomas in the water near the train area - this would have been okay had they not appeared to be in some distress! Rich and I helped them up, and then sternly told them to stay with me. They wanted to explore the nearby elevators and washrooms (boys!), so I went with them.

I was grateful when Jessica showed up, so I could leave them in her care. They went off happily enough, while I spotted Eunice and Pauline - they wanted to go to the very top of the building, where there was light. It was a taste of childhood as we went up the elevator to the top floor, then climbed the stairs to the balcony - we could see a veritable feast of sunlight as it played upon the trees and such! Later, I went to the floor with the cafeteria - I saw Ada, Ian, Sean, John, and the kids' grandmother in there. Little Aaron tricked me into accepting five huge hash browns from him, just when I was about to decide what to get myself. Then Andrew T. used the same trick to get me to accept five huge pancakes! During that time, the Lams seemed to have moved... but I found them, all right... yes, we could definitely finish all the food since the boys were eating machines!

Suddenly, someone rushed up to tell us all that Robin had died! Nobody believed him until he showed us the evidence on his laptop: why else would Robin's avatar be crossed out and replaced with the word "Corrected," he asked? It was also true that he had not borrowed any books from the library, as evidenced by the purple library lending logo. We decided to confirm by calling his sister, who told us the worst. Apparently, he had been talking a shower, then collapsed on the floor due to an undiagnosed heart condition! While we were trying to decide what to do, my dream ended. Almost no idea why I had it: Teunis and I were discussing Robin (and potatoes), but not in the context of death! Of course I saw the Lams, little Aaron, Jordan and Thomas (who won't talk to me these days - must talk to the boys in general while they still WANT to talk to me!), Rich, and Dylan on Sunday. Of course, I do admit to thinking that a certain person (or is that certain people?) mustn't touch any food that I've brought / touched already, but that's just me. (Eric, on this: "Do they have a DISEASE?!" YOU CAN'T BE TOO CAREFUL!) Who knows... I have a crazy subconscious! Phil C. also told us a story in 2001 about an intern who had indeed been taking a shower and then collapsed dead on the floor, but that was SO LONG AGO!

Trivia fact for Tuesday, June 1: What country was the first in the world to legalize same-sex civil marriages? The Netherlands, in 2001.

Evacuation and more conflict

THIS THING JUST RESTARTED! JACK BAUER is getting cancelled... I suppose it was inevitable, after eight seasons and recycled plots. Oh well, I guess I can go back to almost never watching TV, but I like watching stuff about true crime and psychics. Last week's episode of the psychic show was about a man with diabetes who had gone missing - he was found dead. On to the show recap!

Jack shrugs off this latest injury, and shows no signs of getting shot by snipers. No one can stop Jack. Except the network executives, of course. Chloe tracks down Samir, who is moving the rods via a yellow cab. Clearly, all the cab drivers in New York are terrorists. I guess that's not too far from the truth. Dana actually has the gall to feed information to Samir while she's at her station. That's right – CTU is so clueless that no one notices her doing this. Of course, Dana sabotages the satellite feed at the most opportune time, and CTU loses the cab. At least it didn't slip through another perimeter.

Bubba calls the President and – what do you know – there's Warden Norton! I was wondering what happened to him. Maybe he was too busy supervising a bunch of inmates building a highway or something. Bubba says he can no longer guarantee the safety of Manhattan, which is fine. We've been living under yellow alert since 2001. Weiss, the ultimate armchair quarterback, yells at Bubba and blames him for everything. He even brings up Species II, which just isn't right. President Taylor seems strangely calm, though. Turns out, she has the ultimate trump card. "Get me Jack Bauer." Taylor wants Jack to babysit for President Hassan, and supervise his evacuation to the air force base. Okay, so maybe this isn't part of her master plan to recover the nuclear rods. Jack tells Renee to go back to his apartment and put on the Barry White, but she refuses. I guess she's more of a Marvin Gaye gal. Tarin still looks conflicted about everything. Or maybe he's just missing Kayla. Poor guy. He hasn't gotten any loving in nearly three hours. A man can only take so much.

The First Couple of Torture arrive at the UN, and they plan President Hassan's evacuation. Jack meets with President Hassan, and tells him they're going to smuggle him out via a service tunnel to New Jersey. Then they have to crawl through three hundred yards worth of sewage pipes... that's the length of three football fields, whereupon they'll reach an even worse-smelling place. The cabinet is already planning retaliatory strikes against Kamistan. Good to see they have their priorities in order. Samir calls into the meeting and requests the anti-nuclear 80s hit The Future's so Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades. Samir threatens to turn a 40-block radius in Manhattan into a wasteland... in other words, it's going to become another Staten Island. Samir wants President Taylor to turn over Hassan, and Weiss looks somewhat intrigued. I'm guessing he's going to give them up, and sure enough, Weiss wants to go through with it. He and Warden Norton have an argument about moral authority and blah blah blah. Oh, and there's some bald general guy who wants to do it, too. I think he's the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Taylor actually makes a counterpoint by asking how can they be sure the terrorists won't set off the bomb anyway. Then she overplays her hand by giving some speech about how Americans are good at picking themselves off the mat. Somehow, I don't think the Japanese look at Hiroshima and Nagasaki as character builders. Dana asks for some info from Chloe, and Chloe looks suspicious. Then again, she always looks like that, doesn't she? And, another 24 staple – the insubordinate cabinet. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff corners Weiss and proposes a plan to turn over Hassan and make it look like the terrorists kidnapped him. The Chairman invokes the Nuremberg principle, and uses that to justify their proposed treason. Oh boy, here we go with the legal stuff. I'm sure we're only a few moments away from yet another invocation of the 25th Amendment.

Chloe sends the info to Dana. Bubba then decides to give a pep talk to the troops while emphasizing that time is running out. Maybe you should spend less time on the speeches, then. Dana sends the info to the terrorists, and Tarin is driving a van to the Upper West Side. Apparently, they're going to detonate the bomb there! I can't seem to turn away from this riveting political drama. Weiss breaks into Warden Norton's computer, and sees that Jack is involved. He looks worried, but the Chairman isn't concerned. That's his first mistake. Warden Norton comes in before they can finish downloading Hassan's evacuation route. He goes nose-to-nose with the Chairman, and his heart gives out. He tries to take his medicine, but the Chairman wants to let him die. This is what I hate about the show. They just drop these evil characters from out of thin air with no buildup. Plus, they did the same thing in Season 3 with Sherry Palmer and Alan Milliken.

The Chairman already has a team in place. Good to see that, when it comes to committing treason, the government can be quite efficient after all. Meanwhile, Jack is suspicious because Warden Norton tried to call him and didn't leave a message. Wonder what would have happened if Warden Norton had drunk-dialed him. The ambush team is lying in wait. Jack tries to call Warden Norton again, and he really needs to get a clue. He isn't interested in you, Jack! Weiss takes the call, tries to throw Jack off the trail, and does what he does best. He yells. A lot. I've worked for guys like Weiss. It's about as much fun as getting a rectal exam. From Edward Scissorhands.

Jack decides to turn around, but the ambush team starts firing anyway. Jack abandons the other security guards to accompany the Hassans back to the UN. He has his orders, after all. I don't see why he did that. All he had to do was send the others back with the Hassans, so that he could then pick off the snipers one-by-one. Kayla slows them down by spraining her ankle. Man, she is nothing but trouble, isn't she? Jack realizes they won't make it, so he sets off a smoke grenade. He and Renee then take out most of the snipers before one of them gets the drop on Jack. Hassan then saves his life, and Jack is really slipping this season. That's twice in two weeks. He better get his game back before 24: The Feature Film. Jack captures one of the snipers, and he sings like a canary. Jack is surprised he's American because, apparently, he didn't hear them shouting at each other earlier.

Jack refuses to turn Hassan over because he only takes orders from the President of the United States. You know, all of them other than Logan. Dana tries to talk Samir out of using the bomb because he seems like a reasonable man. That doesn't go well, and Samir tells Tarin to start the countdown and stay with the bomb to make sure it goes off. He tells him that his name will never be forgotten, and I'm sure that's reassuring to Tarin. He'll never get to experience the finer things in life. Like Kayla Hassan. Tarin begins the countdown, and he doesn't look too pleased. He needs to kill 15 minutes before the bomb explodes, so I was hoping he'd turn on the radio and we'd hear The Final Countdown. Sadly, the 24 writers don't share my comedic sensibilities. In related news, they're getting canceled, so there!

Dream of being an accessory to stealing edamame

Wikipedia's list of unusual deaths - I LOVE THIS STUFF! YAY FOR BEING MORBID! :D

I have a Friday date! Unfortunately, it's with the overflowing laundry basket... :(

I had a dream which involved my brother and sister asking for my help in distracting a storekeeper while they stole edamame in a white plastic bag. They legitimately bought strawberries, bananas, apples, and some other fruit first. Our parents and Grandma were waiting in the next room of this "cafeteria store" setup, but they didn't know what we were really doing. My sister said that I should get the TV Guide and pretend to look up movies of the week, so I did that.

Once they were successful in taking the Japanese soybeans, my brother said that I should get back to the parents before they suspected something was up. He lent me an epic book to read, so I took that and went back to the family. When my siblings finally got back, Steph said that she'd seen Rick at the north end of the other room. I asked her if she meant Jennifer's kid, and she indicated yes. I had to see him for myself, so I muttered "north... end... table..." to orient myself when I went to the McDonalds-like lineup.

Rick recognized me and said hi. He was in a football uniform and helmet with all the requisite pads; he looked burlier than your average Chinese early teen. He also called his little brother "Andrew" instead of "Amos," but that was okay. The dream ended when I was going to ask him to join us instead of sitting at a yellow-orange table all by himself. Weird!

Josephine S. invited me to a game of Word Twist, which reminds me of Text Twist. Ah, I remember those days of 2001 or so... :D

Leslie just ate an Inspirational Fortune Cookie from Fortune Products. Their fortune is: Decide what you want and go for it. (I tried that, and got rebuffed)

Durian wafers, banana ice bars, Dove Beauty body wash with waterlily

Went out earlier today to go to Chapters or Starbucks, but went to City Fresh Market first to get durian wafers for Jon, as well as coffee-flavored wafers for the toddlers as snacks. Got a black tea lemonade and a banana loaf, and read about crimes of passion. I *knew* that person might not show up! (but now I have an email stating that he did show up - sigh) Was going to get a pretty journal, but the price was a bit too much. Since I was going to go to Save-On anyway to see if they had Sidekicks (got the cheap kind - never had creamy garlic raffaelo / sour cream and chives before), I went there. As I thought, they had regular journals for $5 among the usually-priced ones for $14.99 and up... got one that said "WRITE IT, BABY!" I needed a replacement journal for the green / flowered one Lesley gave me in 2001 - it's been a long time, but I need to replace it because of certain names I wrote. The one Harmony gave me at Christmas doesn't need replacing - I'll just tear out those pages with the name on it!

Also bought an on-sale value pack of Italian Five-Cheese Bistro Crustini (nine in one!), the interesting-sounding Stolen Innocence: My Story of Growing Up in a Polygamous Sect, Becoming a Teenage Bride, and Breaking Free of Warren Jeffs (Elissa Wall), an on-sale with coupon Knorr Plus meal [butter and herb rotini with garden veggies], a pack of Melona banana ice bars (which are AWESOME!), on-sale Dove Beauty Body Wash (Cool Moisture [cucumber / green tea]; Energize [grapefruit / lemongrass]; Refresh [waterlily / fresh mint]), and an econo-pack of shortbread cookies which actually is also for the kiddies. The amount of money I spent wasn't too bad, haha! Debated calling a cab, but didn't.

Scatology / Two sets of black-and-white twins!

High-scoring words of the day so far:

FIZZED (1625 points) - against Itamar R. [two 5W, 4L on Z, 2L on F]
SIX (135 points) - against Kareen J. [5W, hook off ZOO for a plural]

I detest ICQ porn bots!

Today's poo nugget - Monday, January 5: Scatology, also known as coprology, is the study of excrement. This word derives from the Greek skatos, meaning feces. Scatology can also refer to sex acts involving excrement, the most famous of which involves two girls and one cup.

From my ArcaMax Weird News:

British couple has 'black-and-white twins' twice

A mixed-race British couple has defied the odds — twice — by producing two sets of twins in which one sibling appears to be black and the other white. Dean Durrant's newborn daughter Miya has dark skin like him. Twin sister Leah has fair skin like her blue-eyed, red-haired mother, Alison Spooner.

Their older siblings Lauren and Hayleigh, born in 2001, also have strikingly different skin tones and eye colors.

"There's no easy way to explain it all. I'm still in shock myself," Durrant, 33, told Sky News on Wednesday.

Both sets of twins are fraternal rather than identical, meaning they are the product of two separately fertilized eggs, so it is not unusual that they don't look alike. Miya's skin color was more influenced by her father's genes, while Leah takes after her mother.

But scientists say it's rare for a couple to have two sets of twins, end even rarer for them to have such different appearances.

"Even non-identical twins aren't that common," Dr. Sarah Jarvis of Britain's Royal College of General Practitioners told Sky. "Non-identical twins from mixed parents, of different races, less common still. To have two eggs fertilized and come out different colors, less common still. So, to have it happen twice must be one in millions."

The phenomenon is so uncommon that there are no statistics to illustrate its probability, although it is thought likely to become more common because of the growing number of mixed-race couples.

The twins were born prematurely in November in Frimley, southern England, and spent several weeks in the hospital. They are now at home with their parents in Fleet, 40 miles (60 kilometers) southwest of London.

That is one awesome bottle of frozen water!

Went to chapel service this morning after breakfast, when it was -47 degrees out. One of the members' last names is PHO... hahaha, it amused me and my brother! It was interesting to be at an ecumenical service in two languages, and the choir did a good job - had an interesting dinner last night, where we heard many amusing stories from Steph and Citrus. Then we got into who Kid Koala was, joke replies to someone you're not interested in ("I'm not going, but my brother would LOVE to go!" "This is Uncle Alan speaking: WHO ARE YOU?!"), and an iPhone in-joke. Jon said he saw someone use their phone at a urinal... uh, that's gotta be at least a bit awkward! Vivian and Vanessa saw a guy start for the bathroom in Pearl Castle, then turn around and pick up his iPhone... he was using it all night to ignore being social, even with his girlfriend at the table! Yeah, I bet that's what certain people do who really truly do lack social skills!

Waited for pictures to be taken (all that red!), then had brunch at the mess hall. Met a few of Steph's fellow members, and learned that they all know about my proclivity for alcohol. Yeah... I refuse to be the cheap entertainment at tomorrow's formal dinner, thanks! After that, we went to a family workshop, then to the Heritage Museum. Very interesting, as it parallels Canada's history - lots of stories and things to explore! Now we're just crashing at the hotel till dinner. The five of us (minus parentals) might do something tonight if we have the car, heh. Tomorrow holds the grad ceremony, drill, stuff in the afternoon, and the formal dinner. Should be interesting... thank goodness it isn't as slippery as I thought it was going to be! (although I hear it snowed in Vancouver too...) Rumors are that we'll go to the Bushwakker pub for lunch on Tuesday, yay! (Vanessa and Vivian leave earlier, though) We left a bottle of water in the car after brunch, and it had turned to ice a few hours later! (the windows were totally frozen too!)

Jon and Harmony did invite me to their engagement party, which should be cool. Eric replied saying that he needed an alibi (it's being held at the Alibi Room), so I said that he shouldn't worry about one since he's an intelligent criminal! Not for real, but he WAS reading my copy of These Aren't My Pants!: The Dumbest and Dimmest from the Files of America's Dumbest Criminals in 2001 when he was over at my house for a get-together. In his guestbook entry for that time, he wrote "I am wearing my pants and I'm not a dumb criminal. I am an intelligent one. Just kidding." Hahaha... he probably doesn't remember that, but I do. :D

Edit: We're going for dinner at some other pub, and one of Steph's friends is coming along. Should be interesting times.

Pooing penguins and DEVIL WEARS PRADA!

Steph picked me up at 5:45-ish, and we were on our way to collect Fidela. It was good to hang out with her in happier circumstances than Saturday will be; after the funeral, I think our family is meeting with Erin's for coffee. The email replies were confusing, but I think that's what my mom and Uncle Eric mean! Talked about the stupidity of giving people cars for Christmas, ENCHANTED, THE DEPARTED, bad Chinese accents, Britney Spears memories / her sister getting pregnant at age 16, Clement's chef school / MBA program, my sister and me being low-maintenance and flexible ("I HAVE TO BE THERE OR ELSE!" is NOT in our vocab most of the time :P), Fidela's friend being stalked over the Internet, Andrea's 2001 get-together where Vanessa / Fidela / Steph did a Puzzle Trio Britney dance, running, Megan, Jocelyn, Elisyn, Dutch Blitz, half-marathons, the ice and snow in Vancouver / Burnaby, and Christmas. Fidela's California roommate didn't understand the concept of black ice at first when she got to Wheaton, and kept asking why it was BLACK. It's black since it's on pavement and invisible until you slip on the treacherous stuff!

Met Melia, Cindy, Becky, Calla, Emily, Chrystal, and Vanessa - we had SO MUCH FOOD to eat, and didn't even finish it all since we're getting old! Three kinds of chicken wings, two kinds of pizza, five-layer dip, Coke, Sprite, cranberry juice, Coke-flavored candy poo pellets (Emily likes things that poo, so our honorary guest was Pete the Penguin), two kinds of Tostitos chips, shepherd's pie, salad, and more! Steph got excited at Safeway and overbought, since it's been a long time since they got together! Talked about Pastor John always calling Tim "David," SWEENEY TODD, Tim Burton / Helena Bonham-Carter, Wayland, Megan dropping hints, jobs, environmental concerns, lists, church construction, choir, funerals, a Sunday get-together for James and Sanne (I can't make it!), their two kids Jenna and Saskia, Karen and Rod's cute kids Mariah / Sydney / Isaac, and how Melia's the first one out of their crowd to get married.

We also talked about long-distance relationships, Waterloo, RUPERT Street and bear nicknames, Derek, phone numbers, people mixing Vanessa and Vania up, Facebook (Auntie Susanna has it!), the DATING FOR DUMMIES book, emails, confidences, etc. I noted one difference between someone I used to know and these people: these people actually KNOW when I'm joking! (Becky and Steph were having their hair curled in the bathroom, so I told people to be careful with the curling iron, or else they'd sizzle their ears off. "HAHA, the whole night will be like WHAT?! WHAT?!" Hahaha.) Cindy asked how K was, so I told her that he was fine. He's just got on MSN and said that it's good to have me be happy since I've been very emotional the last few days - true, and it's time to move on! Dad to Steph when she showed the DATING FOR DUMMIES book to him: "You should be grateful that you have friends who care about your needs. Don't you think it's time to find a boy?" This was complete with pinching cheek - let's just say she ran up to her room and thought he should be more supportive! Chrystal, Fidela, Calla, and I hung out in the kitchen while Emily / Steph / Melia / Becky / Vanessa / Cindy were squealing and giggling like stereotypical girls in the bathroom. Calla and Fidela also have more friends who are guys than girls, and I said that we just got along with them better! They're certainly more restrained, haha. Calla learned about "the second stomach for dessert" very quickly with her guy friends, haha.

We got on a tangent when someone said something about a gross story. Steph absolutely did NOT want to tell it again, but had to for Fidela and Becky's benefit. Yup, it was the "lobster / wine / sex afterwards" story (Mom's reaction: "Your dad is gross!"), and the "you're interrupting my romantic time with my wife!" story from a week or ten days later. THOSE WERE SO DISGUSTING! Calla then said that she knows someone who walked in on her parents having sex when she was about six or seven - will the kid remember that? ("Mommy and Daddy are playing LEAPFROG!") Cindy thinks the kids are really aware, though... Calla said that little Benjamin was walking around on a DDR mat, and looked up at her to ask: "How?" The TV wasn't on, so he looked at her again to ask the question - so cute! We also talked about labor and delivery, the church that Tim and Maxine got married in (not OURS!), construction cutbacks like the other level in the underground parking / a court only having three sides, baby Noah, elasticity / enemas, etc.

After eating cinnamon buns from a can / tapioca for dessert (no red bean here!), we decided to watch THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA while munching on the colored chocolate mint morsels. Those used to be round and flat, and these ones looked like Chipits - SO GOOD! The movie was interesting - about this girl (played by Emily Blunt, who is going out with Michael Bublé) who's totally out of her element working at a fashion design magazine, and slowly assimilates into the culture there at a cost of her personal life. Her boss Miranda is a totally high-maintenance witch, She backstabs someone to get ahead, and does other such stuff... how thought-provoking! (the subtitles were good... but Seal is NOT a woman when he sings CRAZY! - "Woman singing," indeed...) Took a group picture after Steph gave people some bright useful pig lights; for something to hold, I grabbed the PRADA book.

When we went home, Fidela and Steph talked about name repetition / patterns. Ethan / Ian / Gabriel in our younger generation at church, Abraham / Isaac / Joseph / Sarah / Esther / David / Deborah / other Old Testament names in the Jewish community at McGill (Viv's friends in Montreal), Karen in the older people at church, Josiah / Hannah / Noah / Rebecca / Leah as general Biblical names and an indicator that the kids in questions are pastors' kids, and Joshua / Andrew / Matthew / others at Wheaton (Christian college) - oh my! Fidela's met a guy named JEDIDIAH at school... of all the Biblical names for your kid! We have plenty of younger guys who can only be buddies with the older girls since there are no girls their age. Steph thinks that she'll have to outsource like Erin did with Ben - I can't help, since I met K pretty randomly! Talked about Ben's consideration, his "hangout" list, Pastor John being a calming influence and taking a lot off Pastor Edward's plate, Green Village closing and being replaced by a seafood restaurant (the people retired!), snow, Fidela's being back at Wheaton on the 12th, and more. Had a fun night, for sure! Must do laundry tomorrow!

Better upgrades, dream of fighting with my mom, CLOCK hint list

At last, I think I'm pretty much all better now! Sure, I still have a slight bit of nasal congestion and a slight cough, but the hot showers / warm fluids / rest did me a lot of good. Heck, I even think I sound quasi-normal enough to talk to people on the phone - no more sounding like a sexy frog for me! It'll be up to the people I know best to make that determination for themselves - perhaps I'll test it out later! I can also tell I'm better because I have my biting humor back! ("You know what is cool?" "A crisp fall day with the leaves crunching underfoot as you walk!" Haha.) It was super that I let Henry know about my state of health a couple nights ago, haha - I didn't have any missed calls on my phone when I woke up, heh. I just hope I'm not building up a tolerance to certain things, since that would be BAD! Either that, or I'm turning into an insomniac! (aiya!)

Last night, I decided to upgrade Linux / Ubuntu from "Feisty Fawn 7.04" to "Gutsy Gibbon 7.10" on Corey's advice. In the end stages, the Firefox browser window decided to disappear on me twice. I decided to leave well enough alone, since I was checking My Yearbook: it has way too much shiny stuff on it! (voting classmates for "Most Active Bowels" (ew?), Battles, Bulletins, Messages, Pictures, Blinkies, etc.) By the time I restarted the computer, I fussed about with limited customization, then freaked out since GAIM was gone! Then I Googled my problem, and found that it was renamed to Pidgin Instant Messenger. Interesting name, but at least it wasn't GONE like I'd feared. Corey hadn't heard about the new name, so he wouldn't have been able to help me in any event. I told him that I wondered about certain things (good thing I'll always have a friend in certain people!), and he took things to a new humorous level - YAY! ("Chex mix... *salmon-slaps you*" "You'll still sit here and type to me even if your computer explodes, since it's been proven in that one computer journal from 2001. Look up the Fronzel-Equiblax theory, which I can make exist on Wikipedia as solid evidence... um, I mean, it DOES exist on there as solid evidence!" Hahaha, too amusing!) I've also just found out that when Korey types "hehe" to me in the Pidgin message window, I see a giant laughing head graphic followed by an E. Must be the Hylke Bons emoticons, haha.

When I finally did get to sleeping, I dreamt that I had to physically fight with my mother over a variety of things... arm-wrestling was included, as well as her stabbing me with the broken pieces of the shower wall! (which looked exactly like they do on my sink) Dylan managed to wrestle her away from me, and we joined a procession of people going up some stairs to watch a play from the balcony - some people were using a janitor's closet as a smoking room. I have no idea where that dream came from, to be honest!

Here is a list of amusing "hints" in the CLOCK solitaire card game. The game is easy, in that you just have to arrange the cards like the numbers on an analog clock. Since I'm always one for the weird humor, here's the list!

1. If you're ever lost and alone in the woods, hug a tree.
2. I could sure use a backrub right about now...
3. Monitors won't give you Vitamin D, but sunlight will.
4. Fishing wire makes bad dental floss.
5. Look both ways before you cross the street.
6. Tourniquets are not recommended unless in the direst emergency.
7. Consistency is key.
8. Just because a crosswalk looks like a hopscotch board doesn't mean it is one.
9. Odessa is a better game. Really.
10. Have you read the help file?
11. When without a stapler, a staple and a ruler will work.
