Earlier today, I got a weird phone call from New Jersey: 1-732-526-0154, anyone? Via Gmail chat, I learned that Raymond also wanted to give up in our current Wordscraper game. However, I won't permit him to do that. He'll just have to rack his brain for 100-point words, haha! Also got a Christmas card from Marilynn (headless_maids), which was nice.

The family dinner went well - I did have to mince along in the snow to get to the Subaru, and there was more wet snow when we left the restaurant! Was introduced to a bunch of people by Auntie, and said hi to Holly / Harmony / Brit / Myles / Peter... of course I was polite, haha. My grandma made a side comment to me about how Harmony's grandfather had big ears, and my mom wondered to me whether some woman was fat or pregnant... keep that to yourself, people! The dinner started at 6, but we didn't get any food till past 7:30 - that's normal, though. Jon just called Nathan (who got free pizza for helping a delivery driver get unstuck from the snow) and Eric in the meantime: Mom wondered if Eric ate curry, but of course he does. He eats everything that's not on his list of restricted foods, hahaha. She mentioned a "blinky" (read BLINGY) sweater, and Auntie Esther's gift... tomorrow, man! Talked to Holly's sister-in-law Suzanne, and her father-in-law Jimmy sounds like a gregarious sort of man. (her mother-in-law Phyllis has been overseas since November!) Jon was amused because our place cards had "Kitty's Mom" instead of Grandma's name, haha. They also had a friend named Kareen, which reminds me of Joe Wu's mom!

Discussed raw dog, so I told Holly not to invite my dad over to her place if she didn't want Varley to be eaten - too late! Of course, he was a guest, so he couldn't do what he wanted. Jon joked that he'd get Korey to be one of his groomsmen along with Eric / Nathan / Jeremy - that would be very awkward indeed if he were being serious! I told him about recent developments, and he figured that it would have to come with time... too right! Certain locations aren't exactly central for me, for sure. Talked about tuxedos, the church location, New Year's Eve plans (Dave, Auntie Grace, and Uncle George?!), homemade red wine, football, IIHF hockey and Kazakhstan, Vancouver losing 3-2 to the Philadelphia Flyers, cops, guns, TOGAS for the wedding (Harmony REALLY doesn't like that idea!), being sick of chicken because Indonesian cuisine doesn't include pork, feeding New York steak and cheese to the dog, and more.

Got home to discover Corey talking smack about Harmony's last name, so I had to put him in his place. Chinese Eric said hi, and so I talked to him for a while. Jon doesn't think much of his idea: "Booze / BT ..... get the Groom drunk out of his mind Bachelor party @ Broadway Church" - it got Eric sorta disinvited from the wedding, haha. Guess we'll see what happens in the future! (I kinda need to move, but would prefer a central location for obvious reasons!)

Dorcas is dead! No, she's ALIVE! / Food!

I had a weird dream where I was checking Facebook, and saw that Dorcas' status had changed from being alive to being DEAD! After taking some time to recover from the shock, I immediately called Bill Y. and Troy, who showed up wearing their hockey jerseys. We combed the city looking for Dorcas' body and evidence, but failed to collect even one shred. Then we got the word from Dave P. that our witchy boss-lady wanted to see us because apparently Dorcas was big news. With trepidation, we went to the Morbid Castle to meet the despairing countess.

She summoned us into her office, and said that Dorcas was alive. After reaming us out, she produced proof in the form of Dorcas herself. (we went to a room where there were cafeteria-style tables) Dorcas came in with a female friend, and said that living under an assumed alias had been hard the last couple of days. She and her friend had gone to Burger King at 11:30 for lunch, but had to leave since they couldn't be incognito in this town. I told them that perhaps I should have checked Dorcas' profile first to see if any condolence messages were filling up the wall.

She said that the "dead" thing was a joke - I apologized, and said I knew how that could be. "I have a friend who's Internet married to her best friend Suzanna! Other friends of mine are similar - they're only engaged in the Internet sense!" Of course, I didn't say anything about how it was a lesbian Internet thing, or that it was wrong - I knew the morbid countess would have something to say about that, since she had a girlfriend! After everyone left except for me, the countess put in a report to a detective, and said she'd drive me home since Dorcas and everyone else had walked home! The dream ended right about then!

Hmm. I know the Comtesse Despair of the Morbid Fact du Jour newsletter is a lesbian, and that Farrah IS "married" to Suzanna on Facebook. Other than that, I don't know what could have triggered this... it couldn't have been the very brief discussion I had with my sister about Alan Pang knowing Dorcas! (and it certainly wasn't my checking Facebook updates!) Very weird... and no, this has nothing to do with Acts 9:36-42 where Tabitha (aka Dorcas) was raised from the dead by Paul. :P

Note to self: Tell Megan C. that my boyfriend knows her friend Alison. Small world, indeed!

Dream of Angus listening to Nelly / A boy named Maryjane?!

Definitely time to do laundry around here after I finish this post!

Someone recently asked me whether I'd had any weird dreams in the past few days. I told him that if I remembered them, I'd write them here. Did I ever have an interesting one when I finally went to bed...

* having a get-together with the children of my friends which involved singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY at around Christmastime for one kid in particular (Bouncy toys, ball pit, party cups, decorations, cake, Coke, and all... Joshua and Caleb had kids, even! What the heck... I didn't see Joshua's new wife Jessica, either!)

* skipping a conference workshop with Jon and others in order to get three coffees in Tim Horton's cups from an exhibition hall that looked like the one at MissionsFest in the Convention Centre

* having staggered workshops, and finding out mine were all scheduled an hour later than all my friends' were (there was an extended break in the lounge, so we all just read the books for sale instead of going to ANYTHING - one involved a giant blue / orange / red fireball going through town, and its role in converting people to Christianity)

* seeing people demo their new music against an orange-white backdrop (like Trainspotting) with black mics [the track names and times were listed in blue technical font while they were singing]

* going out to eat with various friends; Karen and I got some food, and then she had to get Ivan to move his leg off my seat when we got back

* a brunette girl offering me a caffeinated Slurpee with a square white lid (I declined most emphatically because she was a STRANGER, and I didn't know why she wanted me to have it!)

* seeing lots of stickers / pens / novelties for sale in souvenir shops (the company name embossed on gold stickers was Trillian Park Industries)

* getting together with my own friends at someone's house: Angus complained that his headphones weren't working, so he couldn't listen to Nelly OR Nelly Furtado! We tried to get him new ones, but none would fit into the hole where you normally put them; if they DID fit in there, they ended up not working!

* a teenage boy wanting to borrow $5 from Nathan after he got $42 in cash and wanted to get change for one of his $20 bills (we kinda persuaded him to go elsewhere, haha)

* Andrea coming over after that get-together to chill: someone named Kristina called her about stuff, and Eric called me from a Chinese restaurant (where some of them had gone afterwards) to make sure that I wasn't being taken advantage of - both calls ended at the same time!

* seeing lots of homemade cards for Steph in the recycle bin ("Happy Birthday to my Sister!") among a lot of old newspapers


Not sure where most of that came from, although I did notice that Jeremy had to move his leg off the picnic table bench for me when I got back from the washrooms with Jen and Andrea post-barbecue! I'd be shocked (Jon would be HORRIFIED!) if Angus listened to Nelly or Nelly Furtado, to be honest. Eric was discussing headphones with me a few weeks ago, as was K. Then again, I also know that certain people are ever watchful that I don't get taken advantage of by others, which I appreciate! Maybe the "Joshua and Caleb having kids" part comes from discussing young fathers with the Chew and Ng clan on Thursday night!

Note to self: Get to Save-On by 1-ish on Wednesday, pay bills on Wednesday, meet family for thrift shop pants and such on Thursday, and get to the Broadway / Granville Chapters to use the "$5 off $35 purchase" gift certificate on two copies of Final Exits by Friday! Also, I should get some more pens since I'm running out - they should be of reasonable quality, and don't run out within two days of using them!

Dream: Not being fully clothed and ZITS

I had a weird dream where I was in a state of undress in a green-and-black house. My mom had invited Auntie Christine and Auntie Susanna over before an afternoon church service, and I was in a bedroom with my sister. Sister decided to leave early while I was still sleeping - yes, dreams of sleeping AGAIN. I noticed that it was dark outside when I woke up, and went out of the room... I was majorly embarrassed when I saw Auntie Susanna just sitting at the dining room table! She didn't seem to notice my state of undress, and told me that my mom would be coming home soon to deal with me since it was 7:46 PM and I was supposed to be up at 2. That didn't sound good, but I washed up anyhow. Mom got home and wanted me to do a LOT of dishes and housework.

Suddenly, my friends came to the rescue, and we were all transported into the world of the comic Zits. We tried separating Rich and Amy for band purposes, which didn't work. Jeremy, Hector, Sara, and a bunch of other school people were auditioning for bands in the assembly room / gym... such a crowd of students! Eventually, we won it all and were praised unconditionally. Interesting dream, but I'm not sure what brought it on. Oh well, I'm sure I can competently figure out something for later... ;)

Yay, now the fan is making MORE noise! Eric should believe me, or I'll make him do so.

Dream featuring the Simpsons and food / Jamming with Christine / Recital memories

I had an interesting dream which featured my parents inviting us younger folk (me, Vania, Megan, etc.) to a dinner in what looked like Justin's huge basement. There was BBQ duck, jellyfish, chicken, and all sorts of Chinese food available. But first, we younger folk had to do certain things before we went to the house. For some reason, this involved seeing a SIMPSONS episode where Homer went back in time to when he was a child. He received a letter from his future self which said that he had to complete certain tasks to ensure his happiness in the future. His grandfather put him to work on a bobbin machine, and scolded him roundly when he fell asleep and missed two cents in the tray. Then he somehow managed to get the right answer of "Clara" when he was on (not a typo!) a mural featuring a giant squid and a black ink cloud, and his teacher was interrogating him about Children of Bodom. o_O

After that, we met Alan and at least four other people we knew on the way to dinner. They were jumping rope in a parking lot and having fun playing marbles. We talked to them for a bit before going to Justin's. There was a pastor guy there who looked almost exactly like Hunter / Andrew / Kazuya (big curly black hair and chains), who we had to thank for his contribution to the dinner right then as he was leaving early. So we called out: "Thank you, Wayland B.!" in chorus. (as opposed to Megan's brother, Wayland C., who wasn't there) Then my sister and Vania asked what I'd like to eat since they were going to serve food to me. Somehow, my dad and Auntie Christina / Susanna disliked that idea... but there was nothing they could do about it since they'd just come downstairs to have corporate prayer with us and grab their food before going back upstairs to eat!

I woke up soon afterwards, and phoned my brother to see what was up. He and Christine Magee (no, not the Sleep Country Canada person :P) are jamming at the townhouse (they're not where she lives!), and will MSN me later when they're ready to leave. Steph gets home at around 4: she wasn't originally going to go, but she is now. Hope she brings her digicam today, too! (pictures!) I remember the last time I saw Christine: it was at that recital in April 2004 right after Awana... her first bubble tea experience involved Jon stuffing a bunch of pearls into his mouth! We were all wanting to know what the score of the Canucks-Calgary hockey game was: we were scared to turn on the radio after the recital, but Jon verified our win with Ty (who's apparently now on a special diet) after hearing all these car horns outside Pho 99! (we were there with Jeremy having something to eat) Ah, good times... I remember being home afterwards at like 1:30 AM trying to type up an entry before sleeping, and then Stephen got online. *sigh* I ignored him for a bit (as I do to anyone while working hardcore), then chatted for like 5 minutes. Guess I'll see what happens later, but I do need to take a shower and eat pepper crab noodles! (they rock!)

I had a strawberry bubble tea at Death By Chocolate today... it was good. :D

The Canucks demonstrated more poise in this 5-2 win than they had in some time, but for the 11th time in 13 games, the opposing team scored the first goal of the game: Burnaby Joe is now second overall for points scored against the Canucks. But Josh Green scored for us... then Henrik Sedin, Morrison (who needed the goal), and Ruutu, and Naslund had goals! (Bertuzzi got his 400th point on the last goal!) Colorado had two bench penalties in the second period: one was for too many men on the ice, and the other one was for unsportsmanlike conduct since Joel Quenneville or one of the players kept yapping at the ref.
