This isn't a SEXY barbecue, Daniel... yay for bottle lids!

Ivan picked me up at about 8:45, and I delayed him a bit because I had to look for my keys since I forgot where I put them. Thank goodness I found them in my red-and-black bag! Talked about the sunny hours being worth it even if you did get up early, Summer Conference, and some more stuff. Got to the church and helped Michelle / Joey / Emily / Daniel / Phil / Uncle Peter load up a LOT of stuff into cars before we went to the park - water bottles, carrots, celery, watermelon, ketchup, mustard, relish, animal crackers, Goldfish crackers, chips, juice, buns, balloons, garlic-onion Tim's chips, sunscreen, Purell hand sanitizer, wieners, ice, Freezies, coolers, and more! We were surprised when Michelle brought Hannah Montana / High School Musical coverings for the tables, but not too shocked when they tried blowing off because of the wind! When we got to the park, I helped carry some tent poles up a little hill. Margaret was in charge of the FoodSafe certificate in case someone came by to ask about it.

Saw some little kids that I knew from Awana: Dominick, Samantha, Victoria, John, and Luke seemed to have fun. There was an 18-month-old who had lots of fun with Emily blowing bubbles... he even had a Canada Day balloon to take home! Jonathan said that people had put hand sanitizer on his face... doesn't sound too pleasant! Talked to Vivian, Karen, Melia, Angus, Grace, Fidela, Vanessa, Lincoln, Isabel, Jose, Helen, Karmie, Cory, Nicholas, Chris, Christon, Wesley, Andrea, Chrystal, Auntie Esther, Auntie Ruby, Anita, Allison, Jenica, Uncle Peter, Nathan, Darren, Mark, Margaret, Mike, Emily x2, Auntie Ying, Audrey, Ivan, Cindy, Kevin, Auntie Kathy, Citrus, Olivia, Quan, Stanley, Sam, Jeremy, Dylan, and more people. Several people said they'd keep an eye out for me as far as rental properties went - I know Uncle Peter definitely can! Will have to call people tomorrow, too... checked out AMS Rentline when I got home, and found a $450 ad which gives preference to students or working people. It's a roommate arrangement, and Corey thinks they might be uptight and annoying about rules since they require references. Who knows!

Discussed Bard on the Beach, kite-flying, shoes, homeschooling, Ben, Erin, boobs, not wanting to think of people as making kids in a five-bedroom house, how Auntie Rebecca was being kinda creepy by attempting to recruit for Awana at the gathering, hearing "second annual barbecue" as "SEXY annual barbecue" (Angus and I heard the same thing!), cats, mice, funny videos, how Allison liked playing with real phones because she can tell the difference if they don't work (she gave me and Grace her bottle lid!), her cool sunglasses, moving, and more. People wanted to know where my siblings were, and it turned out that Steph slept in till 4. She deserves it, heh.

Had a good time overall, and kept out of the way mostly. Soaked up the sun on the blue tarp, checked Margaret's glasses for bubble circles, heard that the veggie dogs were TERRIBLE, and chatted to Helen about Jon's honeymoon and things like that. Baby Cory wanted to play with the grass, but couldn't really. Helen told Anita that her heart stopped when she couldn't find Nicholas at first, even in their house's backyard! (Danny had come home, I guess...) Anita said she understood - she doesn't want Allison to be all wobbly in the playground, because older kids could knock her over unintentionally!

Went back to the church with Sam and Jeremy, to help people unload (liquid) Freezies and everything else. Watched Lucas help people set up the tent again in the courtyard - no, we didn't get Uncle Eugene to help in the morning either! Read an issue of CHALLENGER magazine, and encountered the name "Summer Waters" in the back as a kid poet. Poor girl! The guys drove me home before doing other things, and I got home at around 3:45. Good times!

He likes it, but can't get it often because nobody else in his family does... d'oh! They're not really into seaweed as a snack, either.

Poo nugget for Wednesday, Feb. 18: Urban Legends Debunked - There has been a range of urban legends regarding the dangers of using a toilet, in a variety of different situations. Most of them have been shown to be false. According to Snopes.com, rumors about the presence of poisonous spiders hiding under toilet seats, sewer rats crawling up sewer pipes to attack unwitting occupants and terrorists booby-trapping toilet seats to castrate their targets have all been proven false.

We crack up on sleep deprivation!

Was way too tired last night to blog anything when I got home, so that's why you're getting Friday night adventures now. It's a change, haha. At least the edge is taken off my "totally dead" sleepy feeling!

After taking a quick shower, I was out of here - I decided to go to Great One to get some Gummy Choco (strawberry / orange / muscat grape) and some gum... spicy cinnamon, hypermint, watermelon / spearmint, pink, twisted green, and wild winter! Then I took the next bus to "my second-favorite intersection" - I was surprised when I heard my brother's voice telling Stanley that he had to pay an extra fare! Jon, Isabel, Julie, Mike, Danielle's cousin Kevin, Tony, and Stanley were on that bus to go to their hot pot outing on Garden City. My brother phrased it as "I have to be these guys' bus chaperon because they're scared of taking the bus in Richmond, haha." Oh, the plight of the Richmondite! Stanley denied that, while Mike said that it was always weird seeing people you knew on the bus when you weren't expecting it! Too true... will have to ask Mike in a few hours how it all went! Jon and I spent the ride talking about my outing with Grandma - it was okay, except for her thinking that the 407 stops anywhere and everywhere, even at stops where service was discontinued years ago! Sure, I miss the days when the 400-Richmond buses were routed through Vancouver too, but that's a CHANGE and in the PAST! Ah, she's just getting very confused and even her short-term memory is going! They all got off before I did (Jon: "See ya, Sarne!"), and I noted to Jon that I was officially late - but no worries!

Eric almost forgot about Maisie, but remembered at almost the last minute. Talked about dinner, weekend plans, my fault for red lights, Pho (salad roll for me), creation, Bible verses, asking / words, mushiness, opinions, and other things - typical wacky ride, sorta. I was determined not to let the misspelling of "roughage" or the "track" instead of "digestive tract" ruin my night - Eric worked hard on the sharing program, and it showed. Thought about things, and smiled when Jeremy sat by me - he'd had a tiring week, too. (he had brief power naps, and I almost fell asleep while we prayed!) Told him about Grandma's thinking that he had a girlfriend when he was talking to Karmie last week - who is a pastor's wife, but is NOT Auntie Ruby, hahaha. He thought it was funny, too. (I had to explain how Grandma's mind works, haha)

Jeremy, Martin, Lesley, Connie, Cindy, and I thought the pun in the program was way too funny, possibly because we were all sleep-deprived... that DID make me and Jeremy crack up, along with others! ("What are your thoughts on excretion?" "Describe a SENSE OF RELIEF that you felt from confronting someone about their hurting you.") One of the icebreaker questions had to do with what really made us crack up, and Jeremy turned to me and said that he knows what makes me crack up - he knows me fairly well, so I should say so!

We talked about P.E., Nintendo DS, faith as a relationship and not a religion, emails, children, God in heaven, sleep deprivation, and more. The "different woman" Teresa asked us some odd questions that had nothing to do with our discussion: "Should I drink some water because seeing you guys drink some made me thirsty? Do you live with a roommate? (to Jeremy) Are you tall because you sleep a lot? (to Cindy, who thinks nutrition had more to do with it... I told Jeremy that this was the oddest question I'd ever heard her ask!)" We were trying to suppress out laughter, but weren't very successful. Martin overheard something about feather dusters from Steph, Jen, Raymond, and Karen - AIYA! NO SWISH! *scared*

Jen, Jeremy, and I talked about his alcoholic stewing hen - the brandy didn't really light on fire like it was supposed to, but instead got absorbed into the cheap wine and juices of the chicken. Very boozy chicken, for sure! Talked to Chuck for some time - his parents are in town for three weeks, he's busy with work, and our holidays were good. Nice to talk to him, and Andrea thinks I'm SO cute for saying that K and I have decided we're in love! At least she was able to spend some time with Elaine while she was in town!

On the way home, I discussed Grandma's confusion with Steph and Eric. Steph said that both her siblings are sleep-deprived because we stay up for a long time at night talking to our significant others. (Mom overheard Jon trying to sympathize with Harmony: "Aww... you only slept for two hours last night?") Eric said that Jon was also talking to her as he drove him home from Gastropods last night: midnight here is 3 AM there! (the $35 dinner may not be worth it if it's the same feeling as the $25 Dine Out meals!) I also touched on a certain situation - yeah, it's hard. But as long as the original incident and such isn't being brought up out of the past, I'll be fine: my mental / emotional health will be better for it. I do okay when there are just passing references to the person in question. :P

We definitely had one voice to confuse!

Yay! Jeremy has Mozilla Firefox's dictionary / spellcheck AND an Ubuntu setup instead of the crazy boxes he had before! I remember one time I came over and borrowed the computer, and left about twenty random white boxes for him to clear off the screen - I created one every time I moved the mouse to remove one, so gave up on that pretty quickly. Besides, I figured he'd know how to eliminate them! Crazy system, but it worked for him, I guess. Since his computer's also faster than mine, I have now removed all GJ-based stuff from my Gmail - woohoo! (I also had to increase the text size at least four times to make it readable - I'm getting old, kiddies! :P)

Discussed babysitting the pastor's kids, Grandma's dentist appointment on Friday, Gwyneth and Evelyn punching hard, Jenga Extreme, reports, and other stuff with my sibs on the way to church this morning. At church, I noticed Mei Lin was ushering - cool. I said hi to Raymond, who's coming to the dinner tonight... he took one look at the menu and decided he was going, haha. He's a cool new friend to have! Jeremy said that I should have seen the "recipe ideas" email thread these past couple of days - sounded amusing from what he had to say about it. Dianne told me to look at the invisible thread holding a banner up - it almost looked like it was floating! Phil's sermon was interesting, and I almost fell asleep while praying - oops. (I also glimpsed someone in the process of checking out the banner - almost literally bumped into him downstairs after Sunday School, too!) Said hi to some of the kids later on, then went outside.

Talked to John about his daughter Anne (who was wide awake in her carrier), and saw Sabrina and Auntie Eileen - yup, I'd seen baby Allison yesterday at Frances' baby shower! Said hi to Martin, then went to the back parking lot. Jon had said Eric might be going to the dinner, but he was nowhere to be found since he was counting offering envelopes. Kevin and I talked to Uncle Daniel about Gmail chat / the computer as a tool / his being sick for ten days straight - he couldn't sleep even with sleeping pills and such because his mind wasn't at rest! He couldn't just not go to work because he can't reschedule his patients' dentist appointments THAT easily! (it's an occupational hazard of sorts, we thought) Talked to Grace about giant booster rockets, meeting people, money, and having us over for a future Sunday Dinner. Said hi to Sheena, who I won't be seeing on Friday as they have a small group outing. Ivan, Mike, Lucas, and Sam were discussing how you can buy people on Facebook (they say it's based on popularity) - Grace and I decided that it was a weird application, and nobody could buy us! Tony doesn't have Facebook, so we advised him not to get into it. Greeted Emily L. when she came out, since everyone else had gone to Sunday School / 7-11 already. Julie took pictures, and Cordia bugged Rich about his birthday today. (we're getting old, that's for sure!)

Paid a lot of attention to Amanda during Sunday School since she was the only kid; afterwards, I interacted with Gwyneth / Evelyn / Edward / Rosanna / Christal / others. Edward asked me if it were possible to go around the world with your eyes closed if there were no objects or people in the way - I don't know about that! He, Gwyneth, and Evelyn were going around a pillar with their eyes closed, and bumping into each other and Henry when he came downstairs. Talked to William briefly about Facebook and the VCEFC group - I'll add Lisa, too. Went outside, where Auntie Ping asked me an unexpected question about whether I had a cell phone so she could call me! Nope, but she can look up my number in the church directory and call me at home, haha. Then I went back inside to talk to Karen I. about her busy day yesterday: baby shower, seeing friends, dinner, etc. Grandma was looking for my siblings, who weren't out of Sunday School yet. (Dad had an emergency board meeting) Uncle Johnny said hi and told me about Jon trying to find him songs.

Went to Pho, where we saw Auntie Fonda and her husband Kevin, Wilson, Christal, Wally, Jenny, Vania and her parents, Benedict's dad, J-Mak's dad, Gabriel's dad, and other assorted church people. Danielle, Kevin, Citrus, and Vanessa came in later - the girls wanted to hang out since they couldn't ski, but Kevin wanted to eat. Then again, Danielle was also starving. Steph and I had large #24 - yay for different fare than Friday! Jon came by after his meeting, and quickly determined that Eric was undecided about coming to the dinner tonight. I decided to stay out with Jon, which translated to "stay at Jeremy's while the guys go out to buy food." Jon got Steph to drop us off at Jeremy's on her way home, and Grandma somehow knew we were going to his place - hilarious stuff!

Grandma asked us a funny question about "Wu-So Lo" which only served to clearly demonstrate how the old-school Chinese mind works! She'd seen him talking with a woman after everyone got back from Sunday School, and automatically wondered if she was his girlfriend! I myself had seen the woman, and told my siblings that Grandma had seen Karmie, THE ENGLISH PASTOR'S WIFE! HAHAHAHA! (Grandma: "But I *know* the pastor's wife, and she wasn't Ruby!" Steph: "No... the ENGLISH pastor's wife!") Reminds me of the time that Kelvin Chan's mom had seen us hugging outside the church, and assumed that we liked each other in that way. Um, no... Shirley's brother is eight years younger than I! Then there was the time that Grandma saw Steph hugging Citrus (after he started dating Danielle - not that it makes a difference to us), and said this to our mom later: "She's lying! She DOES have a boyfriend!" Luckily, Mom knew that she was talking about Citrus and not some random boy at church! Oh man!

Chilled at Jeremy's for a while as he ate his random lunch of salad, fish, rice, and other things. The guys discussed interesting beer with saffron as one of the ingredients (Brewery Creek is cool, I'm sure!), armagnac, eggplant and tahini, hummus, stewing hen, chicken tagine with apricots and almonds, skillets, Dutch ovens, aluminium pans, big pots, and more. We're getting closer to being vegetarian / vegan with each recipe the guys do, Jon says. Jeremy and I managed to confuse Ray for a few moments when he came in - we said "Hey..." in unison (perfectly synchronized!) and with the same pitch! Ray came in and was like "What the heck?! I heard one voice!" Hahaha!

Later, the guys went out to buy honey / garlic / fairly sweet dessert to be paired with barley wine (chocolate torte at a bakery somewhere?) / various ingredients. I finished my pop culture / cognitive skills book which Nathan gave me for my birthday - Jon has read it before, and says it's a good one. Definitely makes you think about gaming and focus / reading / TV shows / social networks / mapping! Ray did an impression of a stoned waiter at the Naam - NOT "Nam" as in "Vietnam" since it's a local vegetarian restaurant! You don't normally push dropped knives on the floor while holding a big stack of plates! Just put the heavy stack of plates in the kitchen first BEFORE you go back and pick up the knife! Now they're back and discussing cooking, chicken with wings and backbone discarded, and more. Christon's providing a cinnamon stick and parsley along with other things. One last note: Ray thought parsley and cilantro were the same thing, and flopped down on the couch when he found out (again) that they weren't - not when the recipe calls for both, they aren't! Oh, Ray... *laughs*

Christon, Raymond, and Nathan arrived. Jon put on some weird music (The First Original Silence - Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth?!)... we discussed blogging, Xanga, banking, fellowship in general, Facebook, the holidays, the time it takes to maintain a blog properly, doubling / tripling recipes, school, and more. Things are looking up in the kitchen, yay!

Number memory, non-instant gratification, hilarious bathroom reactions

Eric asked Jon if Citrus' place (guys' video game night!) was long-distance. I know we make jokes about his place being SO far away, but Poco isn't long-distance from here! Haha, great amusement! Mom accidentally gave me Dr. Ruby's home number instead of her work number - whoops, heh. She also wondered why I knew that number by heart, and concluded that I must be good with numbers. Not really, but I did have this thing with phone numbers, as Karen Chan found out when I told her what Tim's old number was years ago, hahaha. I hope my grandma doesn't go to the doctor tomorrow, but she might want to get checked out for her fall. Some busing required, perhaps - who knows.

I'm glad that I am not letting instant self-gratification rule my life tonight. Yay for progress! :D

Also, let's just say that someone's horrified reaction to walking on someone else in the washroom was HILARIOUS! My brother and I just laughed and laughed, hahahaha! :D (got emails back from Calla and Andrea, who STILL spells "nursery" wrong, despite everyone else spelling it correctly... sigh...)

The tireless digestion of an eager ape? Hahaha, interesting! :P
Speaking of Facebook, Andrea L.'s removed me as a friend from that site. Oh well. :P

Vivian messaged me on Facebook about the winter wonderland outside - I worry how I'll get around, but it does look nice and white before it turns all grey and slushy! Eric got on MSN with "Answer your phone, woman! Church is cancelled." Thanks for letting me know about this RARE event, especially since I've been pretty much phone-avoidant all day. =/

I like this commercial which starts out with "Joy to the world! An 18-wheeler has jackknifed!" Heh, maybe it's just my morbid mind - yay for XM Radio! This somehow reminds me of the Pulp-Fiction-related tangent of last night's conversation at #9. Angus was discussing Epi-Pens, which Dylan THOUGHT had to be jabbed into the chest wall. After correcting this misconception (you'll die of a heart attack!), Angus said that it really had to be jabbed into the thigh - it's big, and you can't miss it unlike the heart! (that reminds me of how Lana Turner's daughter Cheryl killed her mom's mobster boyfriend Johnny Stompanato) There's this scene in the aforementioned movie where you can see a plunging knife - sweet!

SCARECROW reminders, weird Maryland phone calls, shuffle on myself

I clicked on Heavy Metal Radio earlier today, and heard a song that reminded me of someone on Our Place. I also got a weird phone call from Maryland while I was sleeping: 301-392-8228 are probably scammers! Stupid baby names, removal, Kobe beef meatloaf and white chocolate cheesecake, London deaths

I'm checking my email now, and it's nice to have a voice of reason amidst all the chaos. Some people just want to be devious, but I am not giving in to that since it's crazy talk! I just love these email exchanges when they crop up: actually, I love how we almost never refer to someone by his actual name. It's pretty standard for us, hehe.

Yay for removal! If you don't know what that means, don't ask. :P Then I browsed around London Drugs, decided NOT to get a buttload of chocolate, and subsequently went to Milestones. Got some Kobe beef meatloaf and a white chocolate cheesecake slice - SO GOOD! It definitely satisfied cravings I've had since the R-Man's birthday - and it's been almost nine months since that event! No comments about how nine months is the usual length of a human pregnancy coupled with my mention of cravings, please - it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to be pregnant now!

These have got to be among the stupidest baby names ever!

LordCaden DaVon'Christopher (even if I weren't religious, I'd still think that "LordCaden" was a pretty crappy name!)
Cashton Chad

Julleit Angelena
Mattisyn Annalee
McKynzee Angelique
Attyson Makenna

Twins: Aeriol Clarity and Acina Ciana (anagram)
Confident Zeany (parent: Comfort)

Today's Straight Through The Middle Yet Truly Morbid Fact!

A Tillamook man died Friday, March 2, 2007 after he drove a car into the back of farm equipment on Highway 6 near Tillamook. Oregon State Police identified the man as Ramiro Diaz-Mendoza, 28. According to police, Diaz-Mendoza was driving a 1990 Toyota two-door west on the highway about 6:45 a.m. when it crashed into the back of a 1992 Oregon Road Runner hay squeeze going the same direction. The farm machinery appeared to go straight through the middle of the car. Diaz-Mendoza was initially taken to Tillamook County General Hospital before being transferred to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, where he died. The operator of the farm equipment, Jason M. Sagar, 37, of Tillamook, was not injured. Sagar estimated he was going 40 mph to 45 mph when Diaz-Mendoza rear-ended the machine. Authorities said speed and alcohol appeared to contribute to the crash.

Wretched Recommendations!

Hilton has a book recommendation for us:

Necropolis: London and Its Dead by Catharine Arnold

"I just came across this book at lunchtime, and have had a quick flick through. It is very well written, and not as turgid as some of these things are, and offers a history of pretty much everything to do with death and London over the years."

Peter Ackroyd, The Times
"Deeply pleasing... Entertainment of the most garish and exquisite kind... A Baedeker of the dead."

Synopsis: "From Roman burial rites to the horrors of the plague, from the founding of the great Victorian cemeteries to the development of cremation and the current approach of metropolitan society towards death and bereavement -- including more recent trends to displays of collective grief and the cult of mourning, such as that surrounding the death of Diana, Princess of Wales -- NECROPOLIS: LONDON AND ITS DEAD offers a vivid historical narrative of this great city's attitude to going the way of all flesh. As layer upon layer of London soil reveals burials from pre-historic and medieval times, the city is revealed as one giant grave, filled with the remains of previous eras -- pagan, Roman, medieval, Victorian. This fascinating blend of archeology, architecture and anecdote includes such phenomena as the rise of the undertaking trade and the pageantry of state funerals; public executions and bodysnatching. Ghoulishly entertaining and full of fascinating nuggets of information, Necropolis leaves no headstone unturned in its exploration of our changing attitudes to the deceased among us. Both anecdotal history and cultural commentary, Necropolis will take its place alongside classics of the city such as Peter Ackroyd's LONDON."

We're indeed related, Mike... took you two years to figure that out!

Called Steph on her cell earlier than usual this morning since the house line wasn't ringing for some reason, and made her do a Halls run to 7-11. She brought me some Neo-Citran when the family got to my place; at first, I thought it was coffee which I'd already had, but then we figured it'd make me fall asleep in service. I didn't, but it was pretty much a willpower / prayer thing with that. (I felt sleepy right until some cold blast of air woke me up as I was walking to my apartment building's front door this afternoon!) Steph said that Mom gave me a bunch of stuff including Brussels chocolate / Dragon Boat Mix / a solid chocolate Santa Claus figure, none of which was expired... I'm only worried about her Neo-Citran being expired! Just because Auntie Brenda and Uncle Eric say it's okay in their professional opinion as pharmacists doesn't mean that the chemicals won't break down over time or something. These ARE the people who once gave us an expired tin of cookies as a Christmas gift, after all... and they do have this reputation as being rather, um, FRUGAL. Oh well...

When we got to church, the morning service was running late as usual. Alan asked Jon where the "thingies" were... he meant the bulletins, but we bugged him about that for a bit. I told Mike K. and Stanley that it sounded like how my mom talks sometimes: "Oh, get me that thing." "... what thing?" "The thing that's on top of the other thing! You know!" As Mike said: "... no, we don't... otherwise, we wouldn't have to ask!" She's even gotten mad at me for not having ESP about that, but I didn't say this. Mike said that kinda reminded him of his sister Margaret. He'll say: "Hey Margaret, what are you eating?" and she'll hold up the food in question and just SHOW him instead of telling him! Cordia's opinion is that she got it from HIM, haha. Steph showed up and handed me a bag: "Here are your drugs!" (echinacea and Vitamin C / lemon Halls... I should have told her to get Neo-Citran, but I can get that at the pharmacy next door before 4 tomorrow if I really need it) Cordia found that amusing, then went inside on someone's suggestion... good idea, before we block even more people traffic and such!

Randal decided to say hi when I'd sat down, so I talked briefly to him. Probably it was to let me know where he was (a row behind me) in case I had the magic TV show tapes... excellent idea, since he ALWAYS goes off somewhere real quick after service (as Eric does from time to time) and I have NO idea where he's gone! And of course I never see him after Sunday School, either! Darn people who disappear on you, especially if you need them... *joking grumble* Asked Christon if he had the tape, which he gave me... then I asked Steph which tape Vanessa needed: she still has to check. I was going to shove the tape in my bag and give it to the R-Man later (like on Friday), but then remembered that (DUH) he was sitting right behind me! I swear, this illness is doing a number on my memory... Steph said the same to Mom later when we saw her after she worked. (she asked me about the chocolate, and I was like "Uh, WHAT chocolate?!" haha.. ) Steph told Danielle that the pre-service prayer cluster looked like the classic Sunrise Service from last year: well, when you gotta go, you gotta go! (even if you have to announce it to everyone there!) She's definitely going this year, and I might too. Good times, heh.

Jeremy sat down beside me, and we basically spent all of service trying to keep our respective colds to ourselves, heh. You know it's bad when we take personal space boundaries to new levels! His Bible on my coat's sleeve is fine for any service (no cold virus particles there!), but us having less than seven inches of space between us in general would NOT have been fine today! Luckily, there were like ten inches of space between me and Sheena because of all her stuff: no chance of the three Soon sisters catching THIS cold, man! Finally saw Megan, who's back for a week! I could see Steph, Danielle, and Cindy cringing on her behalf when the news of Phil's engagement was brought up as a sermon illustration about how hard it is to hold good news in. Yeah, I feel bad for her too... but nothing can be done now! In the row ahead of me, Danielle asked Jon where Nathan was halfway through service: he was sitting behind me. He couldn't hear what she whispered to him, so I had to interpret: she'd thought he couldn't wake up again this morning, heh.

A collective groan went up when Rich announced that Daylight Savings Time would start earlier than normal: NEXT WEEK?! NOOOOOOOOOOOO! SAY IT AIN'T SO, BROTHER! Jeremy turned to me and said that this meant he'd wake up at 4:30 in the morning for work (body clock) - that REALLY sucks, as if 5:30 AM weren't bad enough! Then we were reminded about the Privacy Act and filling out our church directory info / ticking the consent box... Jeremy to me: "Darn the government and their privacy acts!" (haha) When the $10 Sod-Turning Ceremony DVDs from New Year's Day were advertised AGAIN, it was my turn to tell Jeremy something! "Haha, I love how these things are still advertised like three months later. Quick! Uncle Alan REALLY wants to get rid of all these extra DVDs in his office!" That got a laugh, like I was hoping it would. Then Pastor Edward put a flower in a little vase on the pulpit to signify Phil and Grace getting engaged, and made a point to tell us: "Okay, this doesn't mean a baby!" (usually, we do this to recognize new births) Jeremy turned to me, and added: "We hope not." My turn to laugh, along with Nathan. Yeah... let's REALLY hope not, otherwise they'll have some explaining to do nine months down the road!

When I got to the back parking lot after service, I saw Helen with her baby Nicholas, who headbutted me in the chest area when his mom told him to kiss me hello. She apologized, but I guess he's being a typical boy already! He gave me five a few times, but wouldn't give me ten: we should get together sometime, but she's back to work and such now. It was nice seeing them, though! (he waved bye to me a few times, too!) I had to tell her to move since a car was trying to park in one of the handicapped spaces, so Jeremy joked that we should block off those two spaces with a sign that read "LOITERING AREA" one of these days. Yeah, I'm sure my dad will get RIGHT on that... NOT! Nice in theory, but not so in practice with legalities and such! Nathan, Jon, Jeremy, and I talked to Jen for a while about dinner plans, her mom being in Egypt, the Eco-Density Fair this afternoon, documentaries, adopted Koreans with schizophrenia who committed suicide, her getting a real driver's license (no more Class 5!), cars, depreciation, parking, gas, maintenance, etc. (I saw some Camels in the flap of her purse, but at least it was pretty discreet!) Told Steph that Jen only worked part-time now, which is good for her - AND she only works 24 hours! (she put it as "I work a day in a week!" which confused us for a bit) So I told her that Jen worked the magic number of hours in a week - Jen doesn't watch the show, hah.

Talked to Emily and Mike T. for a while, and Jon somehow came up in the conversation. Mike to me: "Wait... Jon's your BROTHER?!" Yes... just look at your birthday and baptism cards! He happened to be passing by at the time (probably on his way to chest chop one of the guys), so I had to tell him about this! Definitely found it amusing, and Mike had no idea why Jon and Steph signed his cards till now! When we told Steph later, she said that new people didn't know these things. We realize that, but we thought he'd figure it out (or Emily / Chrystal / Melia would tell him) in the two years and change that he's been coming here! Talked to Megan for a bit: she's here for a week with appointments and an interview at Pacific Grace / dental stuff because she hasn't had them since August. She's near Dragon Ball ("that place you guys like"), hehe! Told Jon that I'd see him at lunch since I had to go help with the toddlers, which sounded good to him. (Jeremy was TRYING to get tickets to the lunch, but it was sold out - last year, they were GIVING them away!)

At the toddler Sunday School class, there was this new kid named Cheryl. (one of Zoe's mom's friends' kids) Only her parents spell it with an "I" instead of a "Y." Creative spellings are NOT good, people! :P Sean was coughing and looked pretty miserable, so I checked my Halls package and quickly concluded that I was NOT drugging him up with those! (they're recommended for kids age 5-6 and up) I learned later from his dad that he really likes the computer, but his time on there is limited because his parents don't want him to get addicted. Good idea! I should do that to myself... ha ha ha. After that, it was lunchtime! Steph and I made sure our grandma had a seat before sitting down ourselves with Pastor Edward, Auntie Ruby, Audrey, little Nathan, Natalie, Hannah, Priscilla, and Gladys. Then she moved to the other end of the room to be with Karen Lew: eh, I was staying where I was! The kids dumped their leftovers on one plate, so I joked that Hannah looked like a real pig! They laughed when I picked out the stuff I liked from an extra plate just like Pastor Edward had done, haha.

When Jon came around with stuff because he was one of the food servers, I noted to him that this was the worst location ever in the basement to watch the upcoming anniversary video. It was near the doors, a real fire hazard, and there's a pole in the way! But as he commented, it was pretty crowded anywhere as it usually is at these lunches... later, I told him not to buy a $20 church anniversary DVD since Steph had been pretty much coerced into buying one a couple of weeks ago! I moved up front when the video came on, since I didn't want to block Priscilla's view OR Jonathan Chan's view a little further up. Definitely a cool video, although nobody wanted to know how Chris seemed to just ooze out from the ground / a log! Later, I saw Steph and Citrus with huge Slurpees - they had those instead of cake, heh. Jeremy showed up from lunch with Daniel and Christon at the Szechuan place, probably Green Village. He was pretty full and so were we, even though (as Julie and Elaine noted) our food wasn't that good / appetizing. Too much meat, like Nathan's dad's protein meals: two plates of meat, one of veggies, and an assorted plate. They were giving away leftovers, which I declined: Jeremy took three containers home after Jon assured him that there were LOTS as per the usual. He said that he'd slept in yesterday, took a nap in the afternoon, then went to bed early: 12 hours of sleep should do it for his cold, heh. Told Julie and Elaine to say hi to their mom for me - I should call her, but what to say? "Hi, Auntie Cynthia... I heard your cancer's come back! Uh... er..." wouldn't sound very good, haha. Gave Natalie and Nathan some candy: to be safe, she should give the chocolate ones to her brother Ivan, since Auntie Ronne reminded me that she has a peanut allergy!

On the way home, Steph and I learned that Jon's "itchy butt" (Chinese is a grossly descriptive language :P) got him in trouble with the elementary school once! Mr. Blinkhorn (principal) had to call our parents to tell them that the teacher thought Jon was moving around too much while sitting on the floor, and she thought he was doing something which normally should be done in private! Oh, dear... not the case, but they had to go pick him up and explain things to the poor teacher! I'm still giggling over this story, heh. I also learned that Grandma gets mad and denies she was sleeping when they hear her snore: what's the big deal with that? It's not a BAD thing if she dozes off or gets tired... this morning, she told me and Jon that she wasn't tired even after only getting four hours of sleep and said that it's something she thanked God for. Go to sleep early, get up and go to the bathroom, take forever to get back to sleep, and repeat at least twice a night... THEN deny it makes you tired? Yeah right! I took Steph's advice and stayed in the car when she went to drive Mom home from work: I was NOT in the mood for stopping off at a few different places after a long day! I might go over tomorrow for the TV show, but maybe not. (lunar regularities be damned!) Citrus is also mad since people asked HIM to do the anniversary DVD - it takes more than one person to sort through a zillion pictures, select representative ones, choose music / text, and do all that DVD production! No wonder Steph was frustrated when Auntie Rebecca did that to her a while back!

This update is probably longer than it strictly needs to be (as is the case with most of my "life blogging"), but it's how I do things! Now I need to eat and take a shower...

Double uterus resulting in triplets, late SLB notice, herbal Ng Po powder, lots of quizzes

Hey, this story is right up my alley!

A UK woman with two wombs is believed to be the first in the world with the condition to give birth to triplets.

Hannah Kersey, 23, from Northam in Devon, had identical twins Ruby and Tilly, who were born from one womb, and Grace, who was born from the other. The girls had to stay in hospital for nine weeks after being born seven weeks early by Caesarean, but have now returned home to their parents.

The odds of having triplets from two wombs are about 25 million to one. The chances of a woman with two wombs having twins or two separate births is estimated to be five million to one. Only 70 women in the world are known to have been pregnant in two wombs, reports suggest. The condition, which is actually called uterus didelphys, affects one in 1,000 women in the UK.

In Miss Kersey's case, the babies were conceived from two eggs - one in each womb - which were fertilised at the same time by two different sperm.

One egg then divided, producing identical twins, while the other developed into a single baby.

Hannah and her partner Mick Faulkner said they were "over the moon" at how healthy and happy the girls are.

Hannah said: "They are three lovely and incredible children, all with very different personalities. Gracie seems to be the ringleader - maybe because she grew up in her own womb. Ruby is very laid back and quiet, happy to sit and watch what is happening around her. Tilly, who was the baby that struggled to survive inside me, is a real fighter, wanting to keep up with her sisters and not be left out."

Dr. Simon Grant, a consultant at Southmead Hospital who delivered the babies, said: "There are very few world firsts nowadays, but it may be one."

Mr. Ellis Downes, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Chase Farm Hospital in London, said: "It is quite amazing. Women with two wombs have conceived a baby in each womb before but never twins in one and a singleton in the other."

Leading expert Mr. Peter Bowen-Simpkins added: "For a woman to spontaneously conceive and give birth in this way is a real rarity. They have been extremely fortunate."

Mr. Richard Warren of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists said most cases occur naturally, but the condition can run in families.

Hannah's mother and sister also have two wombs.

WOMB ABNORMALITIES
Occur when the uterus fails to fuse normally during development
Vary in severity - sometimes the division extends into the vagina
Can cause fertility problems

Hmm. Jon emailed me to say that this was kinda late notice, but he was going to SLB at 1:45. He doesn't have a car, so I'd have had to bus / walk there myself if I was awake and not feeling bad. Seeing as I got up at around 2, and still really don't feel like eating much (especially not an SLB thing!), that'll have to wait for next time! Darned sickness, but at least I'm doing what's best for me, haha. (resting up) At least I finished some upkeep!

Speaking of sickness, I think I'll take another small bottle of those tiny herbal pills. They come with instructions and such in Chinese, English, and two other languages. This is what it says:

Sit Wo Tong "Ng Po Powder"
Uses: This powder is good for the treatment of diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pains, cholera, convulsion, gastrointestinal discomfort, epigastric pain, dizziness, etc. Adults take 1-2 bottles each time, children take half-bottle.

Constituents: All ingredients are prepared from Chinese herbs, safe to be administered to all ages and conditions. The powder has been sold in China from the Ching Dynasty.
