Gingerbread mitts are so CUTE!
Was up a little later than yesterday, but it was still rather cold outside. Went to the swearing-in ceremony this morning, then had brunch in the cadet lounge. Sat at Jeff's table, or so Steph said. (someone in the family workshop video yesterday is Jeff's partner's wife!) She has to stay two more days to learn some extra training, and then she can go. A kind soul gave me and Jon a ride to the grad facility after he noticed I was having trouble walking on the iced-over snow. We didn't bother telling him that this trouble is pretty much permanent. (but we did thank him very politely, with a SIR!) After that, we watched them do drills and get badges. Looked at the photo board that Steph put together: tossed rooms, firearms, various aspects of life there, etc. SWEET! (but the yearbook was overpriced)
People chuckled when it was mentioned that some guy was from Fort Mac and would be going TO that city to work in his first posting. There were a bunch of people from / going to BC, which was cool. (REPRESENT!) Went to the mall this afternoon while Jon checked out the Aegean Coffee Shop - he'd checked out Muddy Joe's this morning. Had a Candy Cane Latte from Second Cup, and helped the girls push a cart around Dollarama - all the stuff is actually a dollar, unlike other dollar stores! (Viv stocked her Montreal apartment with Dollarama purchases!)
Found a cute gingerbread mitt, but they couldn't find any fishbowls. (they're not getting fish - it's a joke) Went to the dinner tonight, too - my sibs couldn't resist buying me a strawberry daiquiri Bacardi Breezer (5%) and a Smirnoff Ice (7%) - Dad didn't want me to get hungover, haha. I'll be FINE since I actually had a full meal too, including roast beef / perogies / cabbage rolls (Mennonite food - red cabbage from Jeremy, anyone?) / veggies / buns / cheesecake / metallic chlorinated water / other stuff. [Jon had a Pilsner, and Steph affirmed to her friend that the family was all drinkers!]
Took pictures of a fake cake, and met the parents of one of Steph's good friends. Everyone looked GREAT, haha... Citrus had to do some work, so Steph urged him to leave discreetly before the speeches started. Some of the kids of the new members look SO CUTE! Home tomorrow, where the first order of business will be to sleep OR play my long-delayed Wordscraper moves whilst editing! (Updating Andrew, Raymond, Corey, Erik, and Chinese Eric now... hot pot is NOT an illegal substance, but a nice winter meal! Also discussed grammar, quotes, Chinese words, and more. Andrew's custom emoticon for "see you later" reminds me of when K would use those all the time... deciphering that amongst the usual stuff got tedious!)
Dec. 29 (Monday) - some shindig that Johnny, Raymond, and Chuck invited me to (cooking dinner for respective small groups!)
Jan. 3 (Saturday) - Elaine and Matt's wedding reception. I should go to that one, since I already confirmed my attendance at that event. (hoped it wouldn't conflict with Jon and Harmony's engagement party... sigh)
