Syriana, Friday Five on words, Questions 2201-2250 of 5000, and quizzes

HAHAHAHAHA. Why is JACK FM playing Blackstreet's No Diggity?!

After my last post, Eric came over and fiddled around with my mom's scanner for a bit while Nathan napped on my brother's bed (from the alcohol) and Jon called Tally to make Regent plans for tomorrow. (we joked about getting married, and white people making Nathan lose interest right away) My mom was going to see Syriana (but not Harry Potter 4) with us, since she could check out George Clooney.. however, she decided not to as she was up till 4 AM yesterday due to drinking some strong espresso. Vivian and Steph went to some other party, anyhow. Jon IMDB'ed Fruit Chan while making some changes to his songs for tomorrow's carol / dessert program. Eric tried to figure out what was wrong with Jon's network connection, but eventually we all had to get going to Silvercity. (the movie coupons from Ivan and Karen proved useful to me, heh)

The movie was okay, but trying to figure out the first half kept Jon awake, and gave me a headache! (which I took Advil for when I got home at 1:20) The setting kept jumping from place to place (Spain, Virginia, the Persian Gulf, etc.), there wasn't that much in the way of character development, and there were too many characters and stories. It was about corruption in the oil industry ("it keeps us safe and warm!"), and one character tried doing the right thing... but it wasn't enough. There was also some torture scene involving fingernail-pulling... blood and explosions, ick. Next time, I hope we watch a movie that is actually artsy and doesn't try to do too much... but then, we went in with no real expectations.

On the way home, we listened to / discussed the Dead Milkmen, Crazy Frog, and Arrogant Worms.. those were great, and gave me ideas on what to download to fill up blank space on the CD burning project. No, I won't inflict Crazy Frog on my brother.. but POPCORN sounds cool, haha. I also heard that Bon's is closed on Christmas Day (because it's not a Chinese place), so Erin and Steph will be cooking breakfast at church... should be interesting, except that I hate getting up at a certain time / being TOO social. Anti-social time / downtime rocks the house. ;)

Friday Five on Words

1. What word irks you every time you hear someone say it? "Like whoa."

2. What is your favorite word? "Defenestrate."

3. What does it mean? "Throw things out windows."

4. What word do you say far too often? "Aiya / Dude."

5. Name three words you think other people overuse: "Totally, cool, and nice / interesting."

Got these questions from this QuestionClub LJ post by Arthurbulla. I'm going to post the survey in 50-question batches, like the original. No worries there! Five thousand questions and answers wouldn't fit as an entry, anyhow. :P

The only complete copy... you'll have to go around erasing answers.

2201. Is there a place where all your bad thoughts can settle outside of yourself? No, my bad thoughts stay resident within me. Terrible, I know.

Are you afraid they will stay and haunt you, half-happening all over again? Yes.

2202. Are there things you've never told for fear that others would turn away? Perhaps. ;)

2203. Do you:

use dental floss? Yes... but not as often as I should.

use mental floss? Sometimes.

treat yourself to a mental margarita every now and then? Uh.... if I knew what that was...

2206. Have you been let down by someone you love in the last 2 weeks? Yes.

2209. What kind of music does it have to be to make you wanna dance? Weird upbeat music.

2210. What are you wondering? Whether I'll survive all this social time intact... I love my downtime. :P

2211. What will no one ever see you do? Pick my nose, heh.

2212. Are you quick to anger? Sorta...

Are you slow to forgive? No, not most of the time.

2213. Why is it so popular to be angry and miserable? Because we're all stressed-out.

2214. Do you need help? Yes.

2215. Why would someone want something and not try to get it? No clue.

2216. Do you take the easy way out of things? Sometimes.

2224. What are you the guardian of? Nothing.

2226. Is it really okay to do whatever you want (obviously, it isn't okay for a serial killer to be themselves, so how does that fit in)? Yes, within reason.

2227. Is happiness really the most important thing in life (or are other things, like security, freedom, order, etc., more important)? Sure.

2228. How did we start using the phrase "Just be yourself" in the first place? Who coined it, and why did they choose those words? Too lazy to do a Google search for you. :P

2229. Do you really make your own decisions, or do you just make them en masse with everyone else? My own.

2230. When has life been unfair to you? There is no way I'm listing that out here and now.

2231. Do the songs you like speak TO you, or speak FOR you? Both.

If they speak FOR you, then are you speaking or neglecting your own thoughts? Don't ask me.

2232. How do you feel the night before the first day back to school? I was nervous.

2237. Are you for or against censoring child pornography? For.

Are naked child images in paintings more acceptable than photographs of naked children? Sorta...

Why or why not? It's not actually the real thing.

Now that we can create such lifelike digital images, do you think it should be allowed for digital child pornography to exist (as in there were no children involved in the porn, it is all digitally made, the kids aren't real, they just look real)? EW, NO!

2238. What's the deal with Wicca, paganism, Satanism, etc.? I don't know.

What is the deal with people practicing magic? They want to be like wizards and cast spells.

What is magic? Spells and hexing people.

You are Bahamut!
You scored 10 good or evil, 5 spirituality, 9 power, and 10 intelligence!

Do you hear that? Something on the horizon stirs a cyclone from thin air, clouds boil and darken, the air grows chill as an unmistakeable sound pierces the air. The clouds part and a stream of pure white light streaks the sky, obliterating anything it touches, sparking countless explosions and drawing both gasps of terror and screams of agony in chorus. Granted, Bahamut has been known to play both sides, but he's usually on the side of good. He's extremely old, very wise, and lacking none of the power he wielded long ago. Basically he's a demi-god, but for our purposes, he's the embodiment of all the best traits - intelligence, spirit, strength, and good. Appearing in practically every single Final Fantasy in some form or other, Bahamut is synonymous with not only power, but strength of will / wisdom / strength of character. I must applaud you, test taker, for you are in a class all your own. If you really measure up to Bahamut's impressive list of attributes, you're all right in my book. Your polar opposite is the Goblin. You're likely to get along with anyone aligned with Good.

SOOPER Chocolate
You scored 44 for muffiny goodness!

You are a chocolate chocolate chip truffle muffin with a ribbon of nauseatingly rich fudge baked in caramel! With frosting and sprinkles! Oooh, sprinkles. A cherry on top as well! A candle and sparkler! What does this mean? You are probably filled with happy energy and have the power to make everyone around you scream with unnatural euphoria for hours on end. This is not a good thing. You have an 87% chance of dying due to autoerotic asphyxiation.

Schroeder
Wishy-Washy: 68%, Mental: 46%, Physical: 40%

A prodigy from his very first appearance, Schroeder idolises Beethoven and spends most of his free time at the keyboard of his piano. He plays backstop for Charlie Brown's baseball team, but his heart belongs to classical music. The best way to get rid of annoying distractions is to yank the piano out from under them.

Reluctant User
You scored 1 public-transit-ness!

You're reluctant to use public transportation. Maybe you have a few prejudices about the people who ride it, or maybe you just live in an area that has very crappy public transportation. Public transportation is not all bad, though: perhaps you would open your mind by visiting a city with good public transportation and getting an experienced user to show you how to use it, and maybe you'd do yourself some good to move into an area that has better public transportation, if you currently live in an area without it.
