Jon's back for the foreseeable future! (Dragon Ball, underwear, and more)

I went to the townhouse and waited around for my parents to get home from the airport with Jon. Showed them STICKICIDE 2, which they weren't really impressed with: my mom thought that it was a game that showed you how to kill yourself, haha. Um, no... all you do is kill yourself as many times as possible! Then I watched sports highlights, including the Houston Astros manager Phil Garner getting ejected because he has a TEMPER! (washing second base [after throwing it around in frustration] so the umpire could see it clearly, gesticulating wildly, yelling, etc.) I had a jerk chicken wing while my brother caught up with Nathan / Eric / Jeremy by phone. Later, he told me that Mom had bought a litre each of Grand Marnier and Scotch on the Caribbean cruise: why am I not surprised? Then we all went to dinner at Tsim Chai, where my sister met us. We talked about Summer Conference, Terrence, my brother's Toronto friend Dallas who's coming here to do pre-med stuff for two years (he's 26), the hilarious squid / octopus tentacle story, bitter melon, Steph's work and wire transfers, the reduction of the GST to 6%, hockey, the World Cup, my mom's lunch tomorrow with OLD co-workers (Jon and I are going if she pays for our lunch!), etc.

Apparently Jeremy brought durian to the inter-church BBQ yesterday... nobody really liked it much. Yesterday at Jon's farewell party, someone ate 100 chicken wings! Mom asked if they'd been sent to the hospital, since she knew a doctor who'd eaten 100 dumplings and had to be admitted himself... no, the person just felt really gross afterwards! Steph told us that she and Vivian wished Jose Theodore would get a truly nasty STD from Paris Hilton, who's been with like everyone in Hollywood: suffice to say that they wish he could never do his goalie duties properly again. Then my mom asked us what "STD" meant... o_O (we told her while laughing at her, heh)

After that, Jon and I got dropped off at Eric's. His dad Ron talked to us while watching CANADIAN IDOL: turns out Eric's brother Kieran has the Sunfire while he's in Redmond on co-op. My mom thought the family simply amassed old cars like a collection, haha. One car is a company car for Ron's work, and another is a 1963 car that got remodelled and such... hey, it's older than the Parisienne! We also talked a bit about Regent, Alistair, U. Vic, motorcycles, Internet shopping (England's postage prices are very high for some reason, and Australia's are a bit more reasonable), decals, the "choke" signal, etc. While on the way to Dragon Ball, Jon received a call from Nathan: Nate's co-worker Sam was there too. They discussed Regent, Trinity, liberal / conservative Christians, "scouting out" parking spots or prospective girlfriends for Jon at Dragon Ball (he'd only been back three hours and already Nate's trying to set him up?!), random jokes, the counselling department including all faiths (not Satanism, as Eric joked afterwards), etc.

At Dragon Ball, we met Nate / Sam / Eric H. / Jeremy outside. They thought that Jon had gained weight, but it was really his tight shirt! (Eric H. said he didn't want to know about that!) The humidity of Dragon Ball was tropical, which Jon said that he'd have to get used to again. We staked out a table: easy to do since there was practically nobody in there at 9:20. More random jokes (some of a sexual innuendo nature) were exchanged, which was pretty good since both Jon and Nate were running on three hours of sleep! Eric H. said he'd email me in the middle of the week about a weekend hangout, and Nathan told Jon that Danielle couldn't make it tonight: she still wants to see him before she goes on vacation this Friday, though! Jon and Jeremy spent a lot of time discussing the Jazz Festival and the Roundhouse, too. Lots of bonding time in the future, indeed... Jon also brought up a running joke between him and his roommate (Fred?) that involved their switching / alternating underwear and almost never washing it / going commando. They told this to a friend, and she was totally grossed out because she believed every word of it! (Nate and Jon's running jokes include parking spots, durian, alcohol, and something else)

I had pudding, Jeremy had avocado and mango (he got the inspiration from sushi), Nathan had red bean and taro (which Eric H. misheard as RED BULL and taro... ew!), and Jon had pudding and lychee... that was really just diluted pudding, so he'll stay away from that combo in the future! Yeah, I wanted to try Jeremy's bubble tea, but I don't know him well enough for that yet! *laugh* (Jon does, and did... he told me later that it tasted pretty awesome, so maybe I'll get that for myself next time!) Dragon Ball no longer sells durian stuff, so Jon asked them about it: they said that it smells! (for sure, haha) Erin came in with a group of friends, so we talked to her for a bit. Jon brought up the "mashing gummi bear" story in passing: Jeremy wanted to hear it in full. We were going to get him to ask Steph about it (since she tells it really well), but eventually told the story... Nathan recalled leaving for half an hour the first time he heard it, heh. Then Jon made a joke about Erin using her new camera more already than her guitar, which is now at Nathan's. ("brand new sense of ownership," indeed) The guys discussed hockey / durian / the World Cup / summer while playing lots of Big Two. Thank goodness that Eric has to work tomorrow, otherwise we'd probably be leaving Dragon Ball now since they close at midnight! On the way home, we discussed cackling / choking / Eric's brain being concerned about my laughing / other topics. I think I need to get used to Jon's "social butterfly" tendencies again, too...
