Crisis, Bon's, Lent, drugs, sex, and videos
The afternoon Awana training session went pretty well... Sam picked me up a little late, but I was expecting that. He had a lot of forms to fill out before he went for cashier night training. We talked a little about schedules, sleep, psych papers, midterms, and Fellowship. I hadn't gone last night, so I couldn't even tell him how my group was! Last week, Christon had told him to make sure he came because of some apprentice program... he'd said sure, and then ended up not going because of schoolwork. Oh well, he can always ask someone else about it!
The videos at the Rorheim session were pretty cool: they highlighted four crisis areas at church, home, shepherding, and worldview. They featured a typical busy church family... the pastor dad was having a bad day because of budgets and volunteers. This one volunteer was concerned with being cool, so referred to Jesus as a "cool dude who's the bomb." (uh....) The mom was busy with laundry and getting her kids to lessons on time, while her son was trying to talk to her about his friend and meeting people online. When her son gave up and went to his small group leader to talk, the dude didn't take it seriously and wasn't really listening. Then the kid's friend came over and said that they'd meet this online dude in the mall, and then he'd take them wherever they wanted... then he made up some BS story for the dad involving his mom looking after them at the mall. It ended with the online dude parking across the street ("Don't WORRY... I gave him your address online yesterday!") and the kid having to make a decision whether to go with his friend or just stay home. We were all rooting for the kid to just stay home and watch TV! I didn't get the rest of the session, since my dad picked me up about half an hour before it was scheduled to end.
Emily C. said that her sister Chrystal's back from Korea and life's normal again: we should see her at church, which is going to be SO good! The guys were discussing Bon's and eating five breakfasts in one sitting there, since this one dude had done it. Ivan MIGHT be able to do it, but probably couldn't stand it. Mike said that Joyce could do it: she's so skinny and can also pack away a LOT of food in one sitting! ("After one breakfast, we'd be done! Joey, what about Joyce?! She can do it!") I don't know about those wacky kids, but they make life fun. :D (Emily L. also broke her Lent thing since Rich brought chocolate Pocky and she forgot... her brother Joey doesn't really care anymore about Lenting candy, and protested when someone questioned his bubble tea: "BUBBLE TEA ISN'T CANDY!!!")
Then I went home and somehow got into a five-hour long discussion with Corey about drugs and sex. Don't ask me why... it was weird, that's all. :P Apparently, I should watch this video since Jane also thought it was amazing. Nothing gross, Corey says... uh-huh. ("Watch that video.. it's crazy.... nothing gross.. Jane just watched it and thought it was really amazing. :P It freezes at the very start.. just manually move the video forward a tiny bit to get it going. The sound is screwed up too, but it's Japanese anyway, so that doesn't matter so much. :P")
