Citrus Lemon Episode, exes and names, Tibet, Sunday lunch and dinner, BBT
Citrus Lemon Episode AKA Citrus' grad roast! (Nathan and Jon were going to Youtube it, but Youtube doesn't accept videos that are over 10 minutes long... you're lucky I don't know how to embed videos! You should see it just for Dallas' facial expressions... and the mophead!)
Eric and Jon picked me up at 7:30, and we were off talking about random stuff. Maybe I was a little TOO random because of the coffee, but it's all good. Once we got to church, we found that we were next door instead (seeing the kid Julie Chu there!). Dylan blanked out on Chuck's name, saying that he was really bad with names: considering that Chuck is Andrea's boyfriend, and that Andrea and Dylan USED to go out, I thought: "Oooh, BURN!" Not that there's noticeable tension among the three of them since Andrea and Dylan broke up years ago, but still. He also introduced Andrea's friend Doug from Baltimore, but didn't blank out on HIS name... yeah, I wonder why! :P
I was surprised to see Kevin there since it was his birthday, but I gave him his birthday card anyhow. Talked to Vania for a bit: her cousin Christine (her sister's named Jessica) just got back from nine weeks in Tibet, so they had a sleepover this past week.. must have been interesting! Jon was pitching the Sunday dinner to Vania, Vivian, Jen, and everyone he could think of. Nathan, Dallas, and Jeremy (apparently not so flu-ish, says Jon) weren't there tonight (dinner, stuff, family in town), but they'd definitely be coming to Richmond! I gave Jon the money I owed him, so we're fine as far as that goes.
Frances said that she'd mailed the birthday card to Elaine, so I told her that her sister had emailed me a couple days ago to thank me. (hey, the card was too nice to jettison...) Phil talked about Texas, Jon talked about Dragon Ball, Dylan talked about Bubble World, Vivian talked about France and the PNE, Karen Choo talked about Eric's T-shirt with the really old Canucks logo on it (he got it as a gift), and Eric tried fixing Teresa's visor. All good times! Andrea said that there would be some sort of lunch on Sunday, so Jon and I (and Dallas by extension) would probably be up for that!
Jen talked about blogging, literal vs. abstract (I was reminded of Kempy), lust / safe sex ("that just gets glossed over, yet we all experience it!"), and courtship / dating tips. ("don't date him if he has kids, since it makes things way more complicated!") Jon joked that we should get her mom for that courtship / dating program, and said that he couldn't make it to the bowling thing since he's helping out with Resonate. I rehashed Jason's skunk story: he was running near UBC when a skunk sprayed his car! To hear Karen Chan tell it, that car STUNK for a LONG time afterward! (the worst was cleaning it...) We joked about having guys stand up and tell everyone WHY it would be bad to date them ("Don't date Ivan because he's happily married!")... that would provide laughs! (or just go to Don't Date Him, Girl)
We talked about the dinner on Sunday, and I mentioned that Chinese Eric wanted to hang out with Jon tomorrow night: hey, the dinner's a good opportunity! (Jon thinks he included him in that email, but I'll mention it to him if I talk to him later) There will be a core group there consisting of Jon, Eric, Jeremy, Dallas, Nathan, and me. A bunch of us went to Dragon Ball and met Andrea, Chuck, and Doug there. We talked about the Mexico trip, Toronto vs. Vancouver (smog / rain), ordering kumquat bubble tea (Jon DID order kumquat-watermelon bubble tea on Monday night, even if Citrus would be mad at him for it!), Sherman (Andrea's brother), owing people bubble tea, green lotus and green apple, Slurpees, food at Dragon Ball (condensed milk toast and pork), etc. When we exited the place, we smelled some pretty strong cigar smoke: pot smoke can be strong too, but is probably preferable to cigarette smoke since THAT smells awful!
On the way home, Jon and I determined that he should pick me up around 9 on Sunday morning. He got Eric to call him at 8:30 because his greatest fear is sleeping in since there's nobody home to wake him up.. that, and his back-up crutch alarm (NOT his cell phone alarm which works great) doesn't work. That wouldn't be good since he has to lead worship too... I just hope he gets some of his Regent homework done tonight! (he likes working under pressure, when it's almost impossible to have enough time to finish a given assignment)
Hilarious mishearing of the night:
Billy: "So Timothy was going to carry his [the apostle Paul's] torch..."
Karen: "Curious George?! That doesn't sound bad!" (we were talking about a whole bunch of bad stuff the Corinthians did)
Billy: "... no. Carry. His. Torch."
HAHAHAHA! Way too funny! :D
