Chapters, Pho, kids, and friends

Tonight, I went to Chapters a little before 6... I couldn't resist buying when I saw Live From New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live, as Told By Its Stars, Writers and Guests, Uncle John's Fast-Acting Long-Lasting Bathroom Reader (#18), and the Diaries of Samuel Pepys. (yet another reason why I shouldn't be let loose in the bookstore, heh) After I met Eric at the bookstore, we walked around for a while and bumped into one of the swim coaches he used to know named Vicki. Since Eric had to leave shortly afterwards to play guitar for the ESC worship, we only talked to her for a few minutes. On the way to church, we listened to the BC Lions-Edmonton Eskimos football game... there are WAY too many Edgewater Casino first downs! (an opinion shared by some caller into Sportstalk later on) :P

I went to the Pho place for a quick, convenient, and cheap dinner: when Andrea and her mom came in shortly after I'd ordered, I invited them to sit with me. We discussed brother troubles, maternal methods of questioning children, Chuck, our weeks, their insistence on treating me, hanging out, and my apartment situation. Then I went back to church to help with the kids: Melia recommended that most of us who showed up to help (me, Chris L., Sabrina, Eric T., Edmond, Alysia, Benedict, Danny) go downstairs for the conference since there weren't going to be that many kids. (Natalie, little Nathan, Rosanna, Samantha, Ryan, Ethan, Zoe) I knew Anita, Melia, and Auntie Vivian were there: however, I decided to stay upstairs and help anyhow. We watched Lion King 1 1/2, colored, blew up / tied / threw balloons, and snacked on popcorn / juice / Twizzlers while the conference sessions were going on.

When it was over, I went downstairs: I knew Eric might be wondering where I was, heh. I talked to Cindy, Vanessa, Sheena, Stella, Sam, Steph, Derek, Joe, Nathan, Chris T., and Adela. Adela introduced me to one of her friends, Cindy and Vanessa talked about cute guys, Phil, Derek said he's leaving in the morning (and would be back in November to ship his stuff down to San Diego), I said hi to Joe and Phil, plus Stella and Sheena thought I was buying books from the conference tables (and thought I could help them sell 38 books tomorrow night since they only sold two tonight): nope! I got a ride from Sam tomorrow at 3, and Steph gave me her dinner ticket for tomorrow. Since Sam will be staying afterwards for the other conference session, I might as well do that so I don't have to bus home: I know I'd have to do that tomorrow if I opted not to stay. =/

When things wound down, Steph asked whether I wanted to go home with her and Dad: I opted to go with Eric, even if he had worship practice afterwards with Nathan / Chris / Erin / Phil / Dylan. I talked to little Samantha and Rosanna: they have very interesting ideas about reading newspapers in the bathroom, haha. ("you should put the newspaper in the toilet, then take it out and scrunch your face in it!") After the sisters left with their parents, I discussed things with Chris' parents: writing, his brother Wesley being in the military, Bathroom Readers, Jon. and school. Since Chris is the taker for my bag of guacamole Doritos, I'll also give him one of my Bathroom Readers on Sunday for his mom to borrow: she thinks they sound interesting, haha!

After the group practiced, Eric thought that I'd be wishing I went home with my family... perhaps that would be the case if we weren't going to Nathan's since the guys wanted to play NHL 2006, haha. (and if I hadn't gotten a ride tomorrow to Awana) He figured I was a nighthawk: so very true! Earlier, he'd joked that there were fatalities among the kids... and asked if any had survived the evening in the balcony! Haha, of course they had.. no killing kids here! As long as I had time to update and catch up on stuff, I was fine with that. :D
