"Where can I find a nice Caucasian pipe-smoking guy around here?"

Had a reasonably okay time at Vernon's old house.. I managed to demonstrate my lack of grace in front of a number of family friends by falling on the floor as I attempted to exit the living room. This marks the second time in eight days... once at Nathan's, and once there. Eek, I want co-ordination and balance! Is that too much to ask for?

Talked to Vernon's sister Serena about the hectic holiday season, interracial children, weird names we've encountered (Crystal Shanda Lear, Autumn Leaf Woods, etc.), early marriages between people in their early twenties, various church people, mothers and their endless matchmaking, etc. Her mother once told a bunch of her friends that she really wanted Chung Yan for her daughter.. in front of his mother! ("I'm really drooling over Chung Yan") We were very horrified! =/ If you're in school, you get: "Why are you dating?" Once you're out of school, you get: "Why AREN'T you dating?" Aiya! Make up your mind! When Mom mentioned to Serena that long-distance relationships were possible, I thought that they might not be worth it.. you can see where my head's been at the past few days. :P (but at least she knows him in real life and all that jazz! ;) )

We also saw pictures of Eunice's niece Avery.. she's SO cute! *awwww* Discussed how loud our parents and their friends were in the other room, and how Serena wasn't supposed to tell Vernon who was over for dinner. (most of the group being made up of the petitioners of one year ago) It was good catching up with Serena, though! :D

After a very substantial meal, my siblings and I were out of there to meet up with others; Steph went to Karen Grace's house to watch that movie Princess Diaries 2, while Jon and I went to Dragon Ball to meet some of his friends. (Ty, Jeremy, Dilys, and her boyfriend Mark) We spent over two hours at Dragon Ball discussing various topics. Dilys got to know Mark because they were in a class together, but he left a lot of comments on her blog since he was pretty amazed at how she didn't shy away from discussing her faith and challenges.

We also talked about theological books, substitution, justice, mercy, Jeremy smoking a pipe, our plans for the next few days, movies, falafel, Asian cooking, bubble tea (I had a pudding-flavored one), morphine, being in hospital, etc. It was very nice meeting Dilys and Mark, and equally as nice seeing Ty and Jeremy again.. I haven't seen them probably since Jon left! (and I was thinking good thoughts about them.. nothing but the best for my brother's friends ;) )

Since Steph still wasn't done at Karen's, and we'd been at Dragon Ball long enough, Ty drove us to Jeremy's apartment. We looked at the Durian Dude's newest book, The Illustrated History of the Pipe... it was very interesting stuff! :D Also had some green tea while listening to Jon play worship songs on Jeremy's out-of-tune guitar.. even *I* could tell it was very dissonant! When Steph called on the cell phone, Jeremy could hear her voice from six feet away.. the volume was very loud, which didn't help her natural hyperness! ;)

All in all, it was a very good night. :D
