Chinese Eric, "beautiful and lovely," Judah, Gabrielle, and cheesecake!

I decided to take a nap at about 2:45, and I turned the phone on just in case Chinese Eric called. Woke up two hours later, but figured I'd go back to sleep. I was about to get out of bed when the phone rang - Eric was here already! He apologized for getting me out of bed, but it was all good. Yes, he had the international cable... then I figured that we could take the laptop to Jeremy's so white Eric could figure out a wireless network. I gave him my keys just in case, haha... and didn't mind giving him a bottled water since he said he was thirsty! (I was VERY HAPPY to do that!) We had a good chat on the way over about turning on the heat in the car, Malone's, beer, coffee, his mom not really letting him out of the house ("I told her that you and my best friend were dying, and I had to see you guys without people [his sister Erica] spying on me!"), clarifying his breakups (MOTHERS!), his doctor's appointments, his steroids making him crazy, my advice on chicks, rap concerts (CHRONIC!), The "Magic" Shop (read: MAGIC LEAF; marijuana!), hockey, getting Nathan on MSN (he's in for the hockey hangout on Dec. 18!), new cars (he's tired of sharing the car three ways), and more. When we got to Jeremy's, he was a gentleman and helped me across the little amount of snow and such on the grass. We encountered a white family trying to get to "Jonathan's party" who had buzzed the wrong apartment. Once I asked whether they wanted Jon's party, they said yes... then I buzzed the right number. However, Randal didn't press 6 right away, so I tried again - same thing. Finally on the third try, I got Christon on the line - at least HE knew what to do! Good thing we found the family at the front door, since the little kids would be pretty cold!

While we went to Jeremy's apartment, the older kid commented on the obvious renovations going on - yes, the insides of the ceiling and walls ARE visible! When we got to the apartment, we found out that the dad was Jason; the mom was Krista; the two kids were Judah (5) and Gabriella (almost 2); the other guy was Joel; and they were Jon's friends from SERVANTS. Jon asked me how I got here - CHINESE ERIC! Then he told us that white Eric wouldn't be coming since he was tired from watching the football game (at Alistair's) - Chinese Eric had a typical reaction of "Hey man, I watched SIX HOURS OF SPORTS today, and I'm not tired!" He then decided to just charge the laptop anyway... I'm not sure if it worked, but we'll see tomorrow since it's plugged in now! Randal said hi to me, so I responded in kind - I had to joke that he didn't know how to let people into this apartment, despite having been over about 20 times already! He said he'd pressed the number, but I really didn't know about THAT since Eric couldn't open it!

The kids loved the "table" composed of the closet door and the ironing board, haha! (they also liked the six empty water jugs) Enoch arrived later, while Dianne and Wes arrived later than that... I noticed the new girl arrived a bit after we did. Her name is indeed Gloria, as white Eric tells me. I later found out her last name, too. (must have it for my records) Since I talked to her on my own terms (and Enoch later said hi to me by name), I now think they're okay people. Funny how that works! I'm sure white Eric will be pleased to hear it, haha. Jon / Jen / Dianne / Harmony / Randal / Connie / I had a great time catching up with Chinese Eric, who told us some news about Nathan which Jen / Harmony / I'd apparently missed: he has a UK girlfriend named Cecile?! A while later, he was telling everyone about his stress in Hong Kong, and the casinos... plus the effects of the stress, and everything else. He was also asking us about marital advice and how to get chicks, hahaha. (of course you don't want your choice to be based on being a horny 30-year-old... but you should LISTEN to your wife - NOT CAPTIVITY! - and COMMUNICATE!) Lots of laughs were had, for sure!

I was just happy to spend time with Chinese Eric! It didn't matter to me personally if we sat together on the couch, or if we were comfortable enough to have friendly touching going on... no, this is NOT dirty! Just taps on the shoulder or knee, somewhat awkward sideways hugs, leaning my arm on his shoulder, and talking quietly to each other... haha. Later, he asked me to see if his forehead was burning - I was happy to do that for my GOOD FRIEND, and opined that I didn't think it was, although it might be a bit HOT! I didn't even mind being asked to chip in a little if he didn't have enough cash - the least I can do after that gift! He asked me if I wanted juice - after declining the first two times, I accepted on the third try. No, I wasn't being Chinese!

The chili had twelve pounds of pork in it, and was perfectly spicy! I also enjoyed the borscht, although the red cabbage was burnt. Judah was getting impatient for the cake, and asked Jon ("Mr. Farty" - no idea why he got that nickname, but it's appropriate since he once farted in an ESCC meeting, as per Lesley!) about it for at least 45 minutes. We were just trying to prevent Gabriella from drinking any beer while talking to her for a bit. The kids loved the mask and wig in the apartment! Later, Judah asked Jon for something to write with: he then got his dad to write a birthday rap for Jon, which referenced dying next to sweet pumpkin pie, and wanting to fly. HAHAHAHA!

When the cake DID come out, a bunch of us tried convincing Judah that it had all kinds of vegetables in it: eggplant, kale, broccoli, and other things. He said that he could prove it didn't: when Harmony and Jon were cutting the two cakes (one with icing and one without), he declared that he couldn't see any vegetables inside! Someone said that the veggies were cut really finely so he couldn't see them; he wasn't having any of that, though! Jon's band friend H. Ross came by around then, and gave me a high-five... yes, I was at the Holy Trinity gig a while back, but may also have first met him at the beginning of these Birthday Dinners in 2007! We discussed the South, black teens, his longtime friends, missions, and more. Peter and Holly came by later, and demonstrated the "make people look fat!" feature on his iPhone to my / Dianne's / Eric's amusement, haha. Holly asked what I thought of the construction near my place, since they're building a new school at Brighouse - doesn't matter to me, haha! She's in a portable because her wing got torn down... yeah, that happens! Eric called Harmony "lovely," and she thanked him. Later, I told Harmony about Steph's good FB post - if her friends don't know, they will if they look! (maybe) We'd have heard if she told others, for sure! :(

At some point, Eric asked when I wanted to hang out again. He figured that we should at least stick to Wednesdays even though today was a Sunday, so December 1 it is! Hopefully, that's after his doctor appointment, and his mom lets him out to do stuff. He IS hanging out with his ex Fay in New Westminster that night (they're remaining friends), so bubble tea for an hour would probably be it - yay! Let's hope nothing comes up, although it might! Says he hopes he can change cellphone plans by then as well; it'll beat calling from a blocked number, for sure! Later, he wanted me to check the time twice in ten minutes since he wanted to leave by 9:30. I was definitely happy to do that, too! He wanted to rest a bit, so I left him a reassuring touch on the shoulder before talking to everyone else. Connie had seen her dad, helped out her mom, and shopped with her sister today. Yes, the mice are still here - I think they're obviously in the vents! Harmony says Jon is definitely getting a ride in with the lards tomorrow from teaching at the Ho Ho Ho place, so I could get one too... and suck it up for the ride home. I said I'd call them when I got home, but haven't due to more important considerations like catching up online. Tomorrow, then! (Chinese Eric asked after Danielle, but was told she's busy!)

When it came time to leave, Jon said that he could drop me off at the Canada Line, but I said I didn't have any money. Jeremy said that he could give me bus fare, but I said no... of course Chinese Eric stepped up to the plate and agreed to drive me home! He told me later: "Harmony wasn't there, so he took that opportunity?! That's evil in this cold weather, man! I can't let my beautiful and lovely passenger freeze!" Hahahaha, I like the way he thinks! We talked about things which will be kept between us, wanting to get a new car (his mom disapproved of the $25,000 price difference between two models, while his dad doesn't like flashy cars like Lamborghinis), almost eating yourself sick, his apologizing for swearing, and more. I said that it was always good spending time with him, while he said it was his pleasure driving me around when he could! Hahaha, if only it was that easy all the time! Got home to find that Cherine C. (whom I do remember from elementary school) added me on Facebook - sure, I'll accept the request! I think Isabel may have deleted her account, or unfriended me altogether as well. It's a good thing that dinner was ready relatively early, and that I left early; I'm home in time for the old-time radio shows! :D
