Boxes, shadows, kindling an edgy registry, falafels, ANNIE
Interesting rack of the night: GETBOXED, against Nancy A. [read this as "get boxed"]
High-scoring words of the night:
AWAKES (280 points; 2W, 4W, 5L on W), DONA (228 points; 4W, 5W, 2W used twice, hook off KINDLE to make KINDLED) - against Judy A.
SHADOW (625 points) - against Marcy G. [two 5W]
REEQUIPS (110 points) - against Kiran N. [5W]
AUTOSOMES (240 points) - against Patty S. [4W, 5W] {a good deficit-erasing word!}
SELFSAME (280 points) - against Michelle G. [4W, 5W] {a good deficit-erasing word!}
REGISTRY (264 points) - against Grace C. [two 4W]
EDGILY (115 points) - against Wendy W. [5W, 3L on Y]
MUJIKS (120 points) - against Katie C. [5W]
BOXED (144 points) - against Chris W. [4W, 2W] {a good deficit-erasing word!}
Discussed FARSCAPE, Mr. Creep's bad communication skills, old-time radio shows being what he looks forward to now (only worthy show on Rock 101 for him), news, music, going to Chapters, stickers, and the economics of EVE ONLINE / Kyle / Erik / Scott / rules / black market economy / bot mining / shooting spaceships / auto-pilot. Also talked about my sister's pictures (Brigitte and Ethan are now 11 and 8!), falafel mix / apron reminders / blasts from hot fat because of deep-frying, dizziness from oats (bad mistake!), fiber bars / granola bars, Terry Pratchett, Terry Goodkind, and more. Apparently, Teunis and Kaili had been in to look for me on Friday night because they'd wanted to go to Daiso - HA, I KNEW THEY'D BEEN IN!
At least Teunis wasn't really worried when he didn't see me around after Sunday School, since he figured I was with the kids; I knew Eric had skipped Sunday School himself to go have a #32 at Pho before guitar lessons. Of course I hadn't really been expecting Teunis to pay attention to THAT conversation on the way to church, haha! For future once-a-year reference, I said that I'd been upstairs! (Christon was going to help him find me after everyone left; Eric would automatically know, but since HE was not around himself...)
Trivia fact for Monday, Aug. 2: What song from the Grammy-winning Broadway musical Annie inspired an international hip-hop hit? It's the Hard-Knock Life. Rapper Jay-Z's version, Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem), was built around the borrowed line " 'Steada treated / We get tricked / 'Steada kisses / We get kicked."
