The Canucks won 4-3 in OT against Calgary!

The Canucks played the Flames tonight: it's always a rivalry between Vancouver and Calgary! This was a weird game: both teams had goals disallowed because of players in the crease (Vancouver), or hooking the opponent (Calgary). The funny thing is that 20 seconds after Vancouver had their goal disallowed because Todd Bertuzzi was in the net on Sami Salo's goal, the exact same play was repeated with Todd a few inches higher. Speaking of Todd Bertuzzi, he was injured in the third, but came back to test it. Anson Carter scored in the third to come within a goal, and he could finish the play nicely. The Canucks have this bad habit of taking BAD penalties late in the third period, as has happened in the last dozen or so games!

Then a Flame tripped up Bertuzzi late in the third, and they had a two-man advantage with 1:18 left in the game. They called a time-out to deal with this situation. Then Auld headed for the bench for the sixth attacker, so that would be a 6-on-3... might as well maximize the potential, eh? Salo scored his second of the game with this three-man advantage, too! They started overtime with a little bit of a power play, too. Shortly after that expired, Jordan Leopold got a penalty for tripping, so Vancouver went right back on the power play. Then after Kiprusoff robbed Salo a couple of times, Morrison scored from behind the net! :D

I'd bug Darren about this, but he went offline right afterwards... maybe later. But our first win against Calgary this season is definitely GREAT! Alex Auld will certainly celebrate his 25th birthday in style tonight! The three stars were Sami Salo (two goals and three points with a chance for the hat trick), Jarome Iginla (had the 3-1 goal which looked to ice it for the Canucks), and Anson Carter. Brendan Morrison didn't factor into the selection, but that goal was his eighth regular-season OT goal... the last time Vancouver and Calgary were in overtime, I remember the LONG TIME it took to decide the game! Man, that Stanley Cup run was memorable... and Morrison was the deciding factor in that game, too!
