It's official: I have no free Sundays this month anymore...

My dad bugged me this morning about being late, but I was the one who waited for him: if I'd known he was going to be five minutes later than planned, I would have slapped some butter on the piece of bread that served as my morning sustenance! I did indeed see Christon today to wish him a happy birthday, and he's back until Thanksgiving: at least he has a week's break! Nathan was kinda surprised that I returned his book, but at least he found some Chinese poetry he wrote on a piece of paper he used as a bookmark. (my brother once used a $20 bill as a bookmark: *so* decadent, haha!) My sister talked to the teen guys (Sam / Chris / Joey / Michael / etc.) about her online hockey pool: they all have to be online on Tuesday to start drafting their picks... we know he's good, but don't pick Sidney Crosby in the first round! Danielle, Citrus, and a bunch of us were talking about how every Sunday this month seems to be filled with something to do... I was thinking about this during service, and thought I had the last Sunday free, but it didn't turn out that way. (and then of course there's the sleep-depriving Awana Leadership Conference on Oct. 15 :P)

Oct. 2 (today): Jasmine's birthday dinner, which I got back from at around 9-ish... I *just* managed to catch a B-Line bus into Richmond, but then had to wait forever for a 401 / 407
Oct. 9: 17 people getting baptized (man, that's going to be a LONG service!)
Oct. 16: Derek's going-away party (the guys want to be antisocial and have X-Box tournaments all night)
Oct. 23: that church helper appreciation dinner (getting a ride from my dad to that one...)
Oct. 30: the October AGM (as long as we don't go to the dodgy Pho place for lunch, I'll be fine!)

Sabrina and I talked about little Ryan, who was telling her about the teenage witch with the same name: man, his words just tumble out of his mouth like his brain can't keep pace with the words he's saying! He's so cute, heh. I helped out with the toddler Sunday School as usual, and little Irene seems to really like me... that's good. (little Gwyneth and Evelyn saw us after lunch and said hi to me... aww!) Erin, Dylan, Steph, Darren, and I went for a Pho lunch and talked about how the guys wanted to be antisocial in two weeks. We don't think the baptism service next week will end till 5:30.. it was kinda better when we used to baptize people during service, and not combine the two congregations. Oh well, not much you can do when it's been changed for at least four years now!

At least we had a good time talking about being open, that girl Teresa (at least she's not afraid of breaking the ice and being open if she asks us whether we're married / going out with each other or have children already? *shrug* ), my apartment situation, and silly parental thinking! (my dad thinking a Rolling Stone magazine that my brother left lying around was a girlie magazine because of what was on the front cover, my dad thinking that a New Pornographers CD that my brother had was way dodgy from the name [he probably thinks that Jon's a big perv, haha], my parents thinking the Sex Pistols were porn, Erin's mom wondering what steamy movie people were watching when SHE bought it, Erin's mom thinking people stole stuff whe she couldn't find things, etc.)

After lunch, Erin and Darren dropped me off at Chapters and lent me an umbrella despite my protestations... although it WAS raining pretty hard! I wasn't planning on rain at all... guess my sister's right when she says I have to break out my pink flambé marshmallow jacket from now on! My sister wondered how I could spend four hours at the bookstore, but this isn't HER we're talking about: it's me, with my predilection for books. ;) I got some coffee at Starbucks (otherwise I wouldn't have lasted the night till now :P), flipped through a few books, read Zits and Baby Blues treasuries, and thought I should have bought a certain book from Chapters instead of Save-On: no sticker residue on the cover! (oh well...)

I went to Jasmine's party at Boston Pizza as I promised her I would: it was an okay time, but there was this 50-year-old guy who just struck me as creepy and weird. Now, I hang out with weird people myself... but given that I thought he was staring at me (especially when half the table got up and left for smoke breaks / to go home), where she met him in the first place (one word: polygamy :P), AND the fact that he was handing out cards to promote his science fiction thing to us... o_O Maybe I'm wrong about this person, but first impressions make a lasting impact on me: he just made me uncomfortable! At least I wasn't seated anywhere near him, otherwise I probably WOULD have clocked him a good one! (it's not like what Corey's saying now: "so... don't stare at you or get punched? :P so sci-fi people are weirdos, huh? :P") Palmer and Steph could probably tell you what it feels like from personal experience, haha! At least I had a good time talking to other people there: this one girl was telling us how she had 21 shots of tequila / four beers / whatever else she listed off a few days ago, and then was SO drunk that she started talking to mannequins! (and this is why I don't do that sort of thing... also, there was this couple who snogged at least six times at the table IN PUBLIC, which didn't make me as skeeved out like Pervy Guy did!) It was interesting... and maybe I should invite Jasmine out to more things with my friends too. We'll see what happens, heh.. at least I have her cell number somewhere so I can do that on Friday nights, haha.
