Conversations with Erik, September to November 2004

List of smileys in Yahoo Messenger

September 28

flamsterette_x (11:25:02 PM): Oh sure.. hint, hint. ;)
aryk29 (11:25:15 PM): :D
aryk29 (11:25:41 PM): I was thinking we should synchronize our lists.
flamsterette_x (11:27:53 PM): Hahaha, that might be an idea.
aryk29 (11:29:41 PM): When's the last time you updated your list?
flamsterette_x (11:32:34 PM): Uh.. last month?
aryk29 (11:33:00 PM): Okay... then I'll send you mine. I updated it today (added Cluricaun).
flamsterette_x (11:33:47 PM): All right, oh there it is.
flamsterette_x (11:34:05 PM): Hang on.. just how do you view .dat files?
aryk29 (11:34:22 PM): It's just a regular text file. You can use Notepad or Wordpad.
aryk29 (11:37:18 PM): Oh, BTW... I wanted to point ya to that thread. Did the download finish? It says it's still waiting.
flamsterette_x (11:37:34 PM): Of course it can handle links now! Why ever not?
flamsterette_x (11:37:48 PM): I did tell you about the upgrade to this thing, right?
aryk29 (11:38:26 PM): I saw you post something to that effect at Our Place.
flamsterette_x (11:38:30 PM): There you go.
flamsterette_x (11:38:39 PM): and it says it's unable to receive the file
aryk29 (11:38:49 PM): This thing says you cannot accept files directly from me.
aryk29 (11:38:58 PM): *sigh* okay lemme try something...
aryk29 (11:39:10 PM): I just uploaded it to their file server.
flamsterette_x (11:40:01 PM): Okay then.
aryk29 (11:40:11 PM): Didja get it okay this time?
flamsterette_x (11:41:24 PM): Uh, I didn't get anything..
aryk29 (11:41:56 PM): They musta done that to crack down on music file sharing. New And Improved® Strikes Again! The heck with this - I'll just email it.
flamsterette_x (11:42:09 PM): Good idea.
aryk29 (11:43:38 PM): K it's sent. So what v. of Y! Msgr do you have now? Do you see my avatar?
flamsterette_x (11:45:47 PM): The newest one, I think..
aryk29 (11:46:20 PM): Mine's 6.0.0.1710.
flamsterette_x (11:49:26 PM): Mine says 6.0.0.1750.
aryk29 (11:50:08 PM): Heh, your messenger is newer than my messenger. So AFAIK you should be seeing my avatar.
aryk29 (11:50:30 PM): (On an island with a cat by my side)
flamsterette_x (11:51:10 PM): Hahahaha... uh, no actually.
aryk29 (11:51:41 PM): Try View->Contact's Display Image maybe?
flamsterette_x (11:54:14 PM): It's on.
flamsterette_x (11:54:23 PM): But I see nothing!
aryk29 (11:56:11 PM): Hmm... IIRC, there was something with the newer Messenger that required closing and restarting the application in order to use the feature. This might be it. (I have such a Swiss cheese memory when it comes to solving computer problems!)
flamsterette_x (11:56:53 PM): Heh, that could be it. Oh well.

September 29

aryk29 (12:01:50 AM): So anyway, the avatars are really neat - they even change their facial expression when you use a smiley. But they look like they're 12 years old.
flamsterette_x (12:02:37 AM): Hahaha! That's priceless.
aryk29 (12:03:11 AM): Yup. And we get radio stations now, too. :D
flamsterette_x (12:05:13 AM): Yeah, I noticed.
flamsterette_x (12:06:22 AM): Uh.. "these files are used by the operating system and by various programs.. could damage the system."
aryk29 (12:06:29 AM): It took me a while to set up My Station so that it would play my favorite music, but it finally got the idea. :D Now the problem is it will play the same song twice.
aryk29 (12:06:31 AM): What files?
flamsterette_x (12:06:41 AM): That thing you sent in the email.
aryk29 (12:07:06 AM): Whatever is telling you that is full of it. ;)
flamsterette_x (12:07:32 AM): Right. Is there a way you can get that into a normal Word document, let's say?
aryk29 (12:07:49 AM): Rename the extension to .txt and open it in Word?
aryk29 (12:08:08 AM): Does it even let you download the file?
aryk29 (12:09:06 AM): (Actually, Word documents are potentially unsafe.)
flamsterette_x (12:09:38 AM): No, not really. Never mind the whole shebang..
aryk29 (12:10:06 AM): Which shebang?
flamsterette_x (12:10:25 AM): The updating files thing. What date is that person's birthday?
aryk29 (12:10:34 AM): Hang on, lemme check.....
aryk29 (12:10:56 AM): March 9th
aryk29 (12:13:56 AM): Ooh I got an idea. If I post the thread, you could post corrections. It'd take a year to sync both lists though.
flamsterette_x (12:16:07 AM): Hang on, What was the person's name again?
aryk29 (12:16:16 AM): Cluricaun.
aryk29 (12:17:00 AM): It's a leprechaun's evil cousin or something to that effect.
flamsterette_x (12:35:13 AM): Oops.
flamsterette_x (12:35:31 AM): Multitasking.. was talking to Eric when he asked me about my computer.. then I was doing other things.
flamsterette_x (12:35:33 AM): Sorry.
aryk29 (12:35:39 AM): ic
aryk29 (12:36:07 AM): Don't confuse the one with the C with the one with a K. :D
flamsterette_x (12:38:07 AM): haha, of course not.. different IM programs, my dear :D
aryk29 (12:38:19 AM): ic
flamsterette_x (12:40:18 AM): seriously!
aryk29 (12:40:39 AM): ICQ? AIM? MSN?
flamsterette_x (12:42:13 AM): MSN
aryk29 (12:42:58 AM): Heh... all the others have TLAs it's just Y! that's the odd one. :P
flamsterette_x (12:43:44 AM): ??
aryk29 (12:44:13 AM): Three Letter Abbreviations (or Acronyms not sure which).
flamsterette_x (12:44:29 AM): Ah.
aryk29 (12:45:09 AM): Yup. We have 'em for teller machines and video recorders, but not answering machines.
flamsterette_x (12:50:13 AM): Nope.
aryk29 (1:06:51 AM): Oh wow! Just now noticed... in my SDMB subscriptions, it says I have 503 of them.
flamsterette_x (1:07:09 AM): ... and?
aryk29 (1:07:49 AM): Same digits as 05/03 and 503 is also my area code.
flamsterette_x (1:13:30 AM): 5/03? Uh.. that's nice...
aryk29 (1:14:09 AM): We had a big storm over here on 9/17.
aryk29 (1:16:14 AM): Something funny happened yesterday afternoon. I was outside and there was a great big puffy white cloud off to the east. Otherwise the sky was totally clear. It struck me as odd that a thunderstorm would approach from the east. I thought it funny that it was the same direction as Mt. Hood. Then on the news, they explained that the Cascade mountains were concentrating moisture resulting in these isolated mini-thunderstorms. They even stressed that Mt. Hood was not erupting.
flamsterette_x (1:16:52 AM): So, uh.. what's the thing with 5/03?
aryk29 (1:17:30 AM): 5 = May; 03 = the third...
flamsterette_x (1:22:47 AM): May 3... yes?
aryk29 (1:22:54 AM): Yup.
flamsterette_x (1:24:43 AM): and that's significant... how again?
aryk29 (1:25:01 AM): Agh, never mind... it's not important. :P
flamsterette_x (1:27:35 AM): No, seriously. I think I'm having some sort of braindead session here..
aryk29 (1:28:16 AM): May 3rd, 1981... JD2444728.2... umm... a thread you posted at Our Place shortly after I joined...
flamsterette_x (1:31:17 AM): Hey yeah, what IS your post count there anyhow?
aryk29 (1:31:44 AM): Umm... yeah, that one's kinda sneakin' up on me there... :D
aryk29 (1:31:59 AM): I mean I didn't notice until it was like 450
flamsterette_x (1:32:09 AM): Zoinks!
flamsterette_x (1:32:16 AM): I have it!
aryk29 (1:32:19 AM): 455
flamsterette_x (1:33:19 AM): I've had an Archimedes moment, only I'm not in the bathtub. Wooyeah!
aryk29 (1:35:23 AM): 456. Archimedes moment? You realized the equation between the displacing body and the water that's displaced, and jumped up, shouted "Eureka!", and ran through the town?
flamsterette_x (1:37:39 AM): No. Not that kind of thing.
aryk29 (1:37:52 AM): Hey, I understood P4!
flamsterette_x (1:37:59 AM): I just realized what it was that I momentarily forgot due to a brainfart. :P
flamsterette_x (1:38:08 AM): Yeah?
aryk29 (1:38:32 AM): Yup. Although I suppose if you really wanted to confuse 'em, you could say P-IV. :D
aryk29 (1:39:40 AM): You realized that I displace 503 message board threads from a tub of water?
flamsterette_x (1:40:26 AM): Haha, maybe.
flamsterette_x (1:40:36 AM): And no, I don't think so. I'm not THAT far gone. :P
aryk29 (1:41:00 AM): It's late, and my brain has a natural supply of silly pills. :P
flamsterette_x (1:41:21 AM): No, I just remembered that 5.03 is your birthday.
aryk29 (1:41:31 AM): :D
flamsterette_x (1:42:08 AM): Sorry.. I stayed up till 3 last night / this morning.
flamsterette_x (1:42:13 AM): and had some long day today
aryk29 (1:43:15 AM): No need to apologize - my mind has been shutting down for this circadian cycle for a while now.
flamsterette_x (1:44:29 AM): haha, I know how it is..
aryk29 (1:45:51 AM): It's inconvenient to have to refer to all times before midnight as "yesterday." That's one of the things I like about JD - the Sun comes up around roughly .0833 and sets right about .5833 give or take - the day starts just before sunrise, which works very well for our time zone.
flamsterette_x (1:47:59 AM): JD?
aryk29 (1:48:56 AM): Julian Date. Number of days since some antediluvian date in 4713BC. Like right now it's JD2453277.867.
flamsterette_x (1:49:52 AM): I see.
aryk29 (1:51:34 AM): Which means "today" is only 87% done. :P @ midnight! It's centered on midnight GMT, so people could stargaze and record observations without advancing the date forward halfway through their session.
aryk29 (1:52:42 AM): Which is why it's the number of days since noon GMT on some odd weird date.
flamsterette_x (1:52:57 AM): Ah, sounds neat.
aryk29 (1:54:12 AM): It would be really neat to use it for journal entries or blogs! Hey - I wonder if it is possible for a message board to display post times in JD.
flamsterette_x (1:54:58 AM): Dunno.
aryk29 (1:55:04 AM): If the software will support it, I mean. If I ever start my own MB, I'll surely look into it...
aryk29 (1:55:39 AM): & if I ever put up a blog, I will use it. :D
flamsterette_x (1:57:54 AM): Hahahaha. Only if that's in the options!
aryk29 (1:59:17 AM): Hmm... good point. After all, how would I use it... "Chief programmer's log, JD2456084.741..." but then again, by that time it might be an option anyway...
flamsterette_x (1:59:54 AM): Maybe.
aryk29 (2:01:15 AM): So my father got me interested in Egyptian hieroglyphs.
flamsterette_x (2:01:25 AM): Really?
aryk29 (2:02:40 AM): Yup. I'm reading about monoliterals and biliterals and determinatives... and developing a program that draws the symbols. Kind of like a hieroglyphic Notepad. We're going to put it up on the website for free when it's finished.
flamsterette_x (2:02:48 AM): Neat.
aryk29 (2:03:47 AM): I forget if you said you like Simpsons or not? Anyway it keeps reminding me of a really funny scene from an episode where they were in ancient Egypt.
flamsterette_x (2:06:13 AM): They're funny.
aryk29 (2:06:35 AM): The one where Principal Skinner is dictating a letter and asks Mrs. Crabapple to read it back to him.
aryk29 (2:06:48 AM): I agree.
aryk29 (2:10:45 AM): brb
flamsterette_x (2:10:58 AM): k
aryk29 (2:13:25 AM): Bird eye squiggly line rectangle squiggly line... hmm... bird rectangle egg spiral... guy doing this
aryk29 (2:16:20 AM): Hmm... brb would be foot, mouth, foot (hehe foot in mouth); "I'm back" might be parallelogram open on one end, foot, vulture, basket. :D
aryk29 (2:21:11 AM): Think I made another mistake anyway... or else the book did... it's about time to call it a JD. :D
flamsterette_x (2:22:07 AM): heh.. yeah, me too..
aryk29 (2:22:13 AM): cya
flamsterette_x (2:22:37 AM): bye

September 30

flamsterette_x (11:37:25 PM): Okay, who does it?
aryk29 (11:37:33 PM): I already did.
aryk29 (11:37:39 PM): (Check your email. ;) )
flamsterette_x (11:37:47 PM): I am checking my email!
flamsterette_x (11:37:56 PM): Wow.. you're good. You knew what I was talking about.
aryk29 (11:38:00 PM):
aryk29 (11:40:43 PM): Coulda sworn fishbicycle was already listed! That happens a lot.
aryk29 (11:57:30 PM): Did you see my outsourcing tech support thread in Funny Pictures?

October 1

flamsterette_x (12:03:47 AM): Yeah, I guess it does.
flamsterette_x (12:03:52 AM): Um, no.. on it now.
aryk29 (12:37:34 AM): Your avatar isn't showing. :(
flamsterette_x (12:46:02 AM): Yes, it is. What are you talking about? I just made a post.
aryk29 (12:46:37 AM): Huh, that's weird. It's there now, but I've seen it not show before.
flamsterette_x (12:48:25 AM): you're kidding, right?
aryk29 (12:48:43 AM): Nope. Maybe it's my browser?
flamsterette_x (12:49:30 AM): Maybe.. what are you on? Not that I'd know how to help.
aryk29 (12:49:41 AM): Opera 7.23.
flamsterette_x (12:52:26 AM): I see. Well, my computer geek has just gone to bed, so can't help you.
aryk29 (12:52:42 AM): That's okay.
flamsterette_x (12:54:45 AM): All right then.
aryk29 (12:54:47 AM): Speaking of going to bed, why am I bleary-eyed at 1:00 AM after getting up at 11:30 AM the previous morning? Maybe it's because that @#$% cat kept me awake for 3 hours straight starting around 6 or 7 AM.
flamsterette_x (12:55:09 AM): Maybe..
aryk29 (12:55:22 AM): Oops! I forgot. JD umm.... ahh.....
aryk29 (12:55:31 AM): 2453279.829.
aryk29 (12:56:47 AM): :D
flamsterette_x (12:57:07 AM): You can do that in your head?
aryk29 (12:57:35 AM): Nope. I have to use my astronomy program. But there is a fairly easy way to calculate JD from regular calendar dates.
flamsterette_x (12:57:45 AM): Okay, if you say so.
aryk29 (12:59:18 AM): January 1st, 2000 midnight GMT = 2451544.5. For every complete year, add 365 except leap years which are 366. Then each month has a number that you add to the day to get the day number. For example, October is 273, so add 1 for the first and 1 because it's a leap year.
aryk29 (1:00:09 AM): Gives me 2453280.5... why am I off by 1...
aryk29 (1:01:33 AM): Oh well.
flamsterette_x (1:01:34 AM): Hmm.. all right.
aryk29 (1:05:21 AM): Uh-oh. I knew this was going to happen! Somebody from my ignore list just replied to the thread.
aryk29 (1:09:25 AM): After what he said in the NASA thread and the way he put down the French, maybe I should let the Ignore feature take effect.
flamsterette_x (1:10:15 AM): So what do you want to do? Ignore his birthday? I know I'm doing it for certain people.
aryk29 (1:10:58 AM): I've got half a mind to. Maybe I should decide in the morning (uh... later this morning ) but then again, I have a whole year to decide anyway.
flamsterette_x (1:11:06 AM): true
aryk29 (1:11:10 AM): (e.g. airdisc?)
flamsterette_x (1:12:42 AM): yes
aryk29 (1:16:46 AM): I'll see how the next 12 months go. I hate to be at odds with well established posters (yep, there's more than one) but when they act like asses, being well established isn't a good enough excuse. For now, the entry is pending review.
aryk29 (1:19:06 AM): Either that or you can post the thread next year. :P
flamsterette_x (1:25:22 AM): I see..
aryk29 (1:25:33 AM): I was being silly. :D
flamsterette_x (1:33:53 AM): Lemme guess. Miller?
aryk29 (1:34:02 AM): Yup.
aryk29 (1:34:28 AM): I told you already, right? Quite a while ago?
flamsterette_x (1:41:45 AM): Yes..
flamsterette_x (1:41:50 AM): I remember that.
flamsterette_x (1:42:18 AM): Now, I should really go to bed...
aryk29 (1:42:37 AM): Me too as soon as I'm done reading this pi thread in GQ.
flamsterette_x (1:42:53 AM): (as I was telling Spoz 15 minutes ago..)
flamsterette_x (1:43:00 AM): night
aryk29 (1:43:04 AM): Night!
flamsterette_x (4:19:49 PM): Just so you know, your signature doesn't show up in Mozilla.. but it does in IE.
aryk29 (8:12:48 PM): At Our Place? Hmm... I wonder why that is.

October 2

flamsterette_x (2:00:32 AM): Yes, at Our Place.. I have no clue why that is.
aryk29 (2:01:11 AM): Is it that the sig itself doesn't show, or do you just see CHQMaaaaaaa or whatever?
flamsterette_x (2:13:24 PM): The sig shows... I just see "C‚HQMöööâ¯äôåãÕû"àLù" in Mozilla, is all. (went to bed right after sending you the last message.... had a long enjoyable day, though!)

October 3

aryk29 (10:36:51 AM): Oh, okay. It does the same thing in Opera. See, in IE one can specify and it will understand, but that's not part of the HTML standard which Opera and apparently Mozilla follow. So the compliant browsers do their best to interpret the code while still following the HTML spec. Opera chooses a large Roman font; I have no idea what Mozilla does.
flamsterette_x (1:51:48 PM): Download Mozilla and see... or I can send you a screenshot. (might be too small to see, though.. no idea how people enlarge their screenshots) It's really weird that most of your message seems to be in Webdings font, too.
aryk29 (1:52:27 PM): Better to send the screenshot.
flamsterette_x (1:53:19 PM): Ah, no more Webdings. That's better.
aryk29 (1:54:26 PM): Now I'm confused.
flamsterette_x (1:57:44 PM): You know that message you sent me?
aryk29 (1:57:55 PM): The one about the screenshot?
flamsterette_x (1:58:49 PM): No, the one about the different fonts.
aryk29 (1:59:45 PM): Through Y Messenger?
flamsterette_x (1:59:52 PM): Yes.
flamsterette_x (2:00:00 PM): Most of it was in Webdings.
aryk29 (2:00:18 PM): I thought you just got a new computer! What's it doing acting weird already?
aryk29 (2:01:44 PM): *blows dust off the font selector box* ydcfueuydiufystdf first time I've touched that thing in weeks. It's been all Arial up till now.
flamsterette_x (2:02:40 PM): I doubt it's the computer. And now I see your Yahoo display image.
aryk29 (2:02:57 PM): Glad to hear that! Now you should get one too. :D
flamsterette_x (2:03:26 PM): Well... everything up to "in IE one can specify" was in Arial.. everything else is in Webdings, although it sent just fine.
flamsterette_x (2:03:35 PM): Hahahaha, let's see..
aryk29 (2:04:17 PM): Well, I don't have message logging enabled here on my father's computer... but going from memory, I don't recall monkeying with the fonts.
aryk29 (2:05:27 PM): Oh I know what it was! I used an HTML tag! Let's see...
aryk29 (2:05:35 PM): nope bold
flamsterette_x (2:05:36 PM): It sent in Arial, but when I see it now, it's in Webdings, most of it.
flamsterette_x (2:05:43 PM): HTML works in YM?
aryk29 (2:05:54 PM): Ah there it goes. Yes, but apparently not image tags.
flamsterette_x (2:06:36 PM): Here you go.. one shiny new display image.
aryk29 (2:06:53 PM): You can use photos in there? Solid!
flamsterette_x (2:07:13 PM): Screenshot is sent.
flamsterette_x (2:07:17 PM): Yes!
aryk29 (2:08:02 PM): Sent to what, my Hotmail account?
flamsterette_x (2:08:41 PM): Yep.
aryk29 (2:09:05 PM): (@#$% slow email server...)
flamsterette_x (2:10:29 PM): Delivery failed.
aryk29 (2:11:34 PM): OK, I know why. My account needs to have messages DL'ed and cleaned out. You could try sending it to aryk29@yahoo.com .... I think that one still has plenty of megabytes of free space.
flamsterette_x (2:11:51 PM): Yeah, that's what it says.. in so many words.
aryk29 (2:14:48 PM): (Now if the Yahoo server wants to get its head out of its butt...) :D
flamsterette_x (2:15:33 PM): Yahoo's fine for me.
aryk29 (2:17:08 PM): I got it now. Oh okay, that's the screenshot of OurPlace via Mozilla. 1909 KB, wow! That would never have been delivered through Hotmail which only has a 1024KB limit. Do you have anything that saves JPEG or PNG format?
flamsterette_x (2:17:48 PM): There we go.
flamsterette_x (2:17:54 PM): Uh.... like what?
aryk29 (2:18:44 PM): Photoshop, Paint Shop, ah... umm... my mind draws a blank after that. See if you can get the evaluation v. of Paint Shop Pro 4. It limits you to 30 days but it doesn't stop you from using it after that time is up. ;) :D
flamsterette_x (2:20:26 PM): Hahaha. I'll see what my resident computer guru has to say once he gets on.
aryk29 (2:20:34 PM): k
aryk29 (2:24:58 PM): (hehe... 3% of 100MB... gimme one reason not to leave Hotmail. :D)
flamsterette_x (2:25:37 PM): Heh.. my brother won't. I don't know why, since he always has like 95% of his inbox full.
aryk29 (2:26:31 PM): Does he use an email client to download the messages? I use Outlook Express so that when my Hotmail inbox gets full, I can move messages to my local inbox.
flamsterette_x (2:26:59 PM): No idea. I know my sister does, but wouldn't know what my brother does.
aryk29 (2:31:07 PM): Did you notice what my display image does when I use a smiley?
flamsterette_x (2:31:43 PM): Uh, no.. although I've heard.
aryk29 (2:31:54 PM): Take a look. ;)
aryk29 (2:32:06 PM): Didn't do anything that time. Okay, how about :D
flamsterette_x (2:32:17 PM): Um... I think so.
flamsterette_x (2:32:39 PM): Do it while I'm actually looking at the window, haha.
aryk29 (2:32:50 PM): Okay. 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...
aryk29 (2:32:52 PM): :D
flamsterette_x (2:33:02 PM): Aaah! It moved!
aryk29 (2:33:06 PM): Yup!
flamsterette_x (2:33:51 PM): Haha, good thing mine doesn't. :D
aryk29 (2:34:21 PM): Yeah, they should make it so you can have a photo do that. That would be quite a feature.
flamsterette_x (2:34:44 PM): Would be weird, but eh...
aryk29 (2:35:18 PM): Speaking as a programmer here, it would be really tough to code.
flamsterette_x (2:37:08 PM): Yeah, I can imagine.
aryk29 (2:39:27 PM): 'Cuz it would have to let the user specify where the eyes and mouth are, etc...
flamsterette_x (2:39:36 PM): Yeah, I bet!
aryk29 (2:41:18 PM): Did you see at the SDMB that thread on the volcano, where I posted a link to the sound I recorded?
flamsterette_x (2:41:27 PM): Uh, no.
aryk29 (2:42:14 PM): If you don't have woofers on the computer though, it won't be audible (learned that the hard way with this thing and its piece of junk speakers).
flamsterette_x (2:43:16 PM): All right then.
aryk29 (2:52:04 PM): So did ya hear it okay? :D
flamsterette_x (2:53:16 PM): Worked for me!
aryk29 (2:54:10 PM): Glad to hear that! Infrasound is really neat 'cuz you can pick up lots of different noises that way.
flamsterette_x (2:54:48 PM): Heh, I bet.
aryk29 (2:56:37 PM): There was this one time, some road work was going on outside the place I was living in, and I recorded some infrasound. When sped up, it sounded like eerie voices. Never got anything like that before or since! Oh and for what it's worth, that building is no longer standing. :D
flamsterette_x (3:01:31 PM): Oops, momentarily distracted by the emoticons. :D
aryk29 (3:01:36 PM): Another time I recorded a motorcycle going "thppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppbt" and when sped up, it sounded like the cat yowling.
aryk29 (3:01:37 PM): :D
flamsterette_x (3:01:38 PM): But man.. sounds weird!
aryk29 (3:01:43 PM): Yes, it was.
aryk29 (3:02:05 PM): <- That's the emoticon I was looking for.
flamsterette_x (3:02:50 PM): Heh.. that's all right.
flamsterette_x (3:11:21 PM): Aah! It's animated!
aryk29 (3:11:55 PM): Oh yeah, that's another thing with the latest Y! Messenger... most of the smileys are animated now.
flamsterette_x (3:16:42 PM): I didn't notice that until just now..
aryk29 (3:17:14 PM): Well, let's see... blinks; shakes side to side... I think is also animated...
aryk29 (3:17:20 PM): Yup. Neat stuff, no?
flamsterette_x (3:19:44 PM): I think was also animated in the last version.
aryk29 (3:20:18 PM): Well, I skipped a few versions with this one. :)
flamsterette_x (3:21:13 PM): Sounds good then.
aryk29 (3:22:33 PM): I forget if it used to have a buzz button on the toolbar where the smileys are located... it didn't have an audibles button though.
flamsterette_x (3:22:53 PM): I don't think it did.
aryk29 (3:23:11 PM): But it does now! :D
flamsterette_x (3:23:24 PM): It does indeed.
aryk29 (3:23:44 PM): It had IMVironments before. Ever use those?
flamsterette_x (3:25:14 PM): No, I tried to do that once and it crashed the computer. :|
aryk29 (3:25:33 PM): But that was on the old computer, right?
flamsterette_x (3:25:48 PM): Yeah.
aryk29 (3:26:26 PM): (May take a moment to d/l)
flamsterette_x (3:27:11 PM): Hahaha! That's cool.
aryk29 (3:27:21 PM): :D
flamsterette_x (3:32:02 PM): Let's see...
aryk29 (3:33:21 PM): Nice! :)
flamsterette_x (3:33:44 PM): Here we go.
aryk29 (3:37:30 PM): There's a really funny thread in CS about songs that can be sung with each other's tune.
flamsterette_x (3:45:23 PM): Posted.
aryk29 (3:46:25 PM): I don't know the words to Scared. :(
flamsterette_x (3:46:38 PM): Look it up.
aryk29 (3:52:57 PM): OK, looking it up now. LOL, you can transpose Piano Man with Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald!!!!
flamsterette_x (3:53:11 PM): Oh my....
aryk29 (3:55:43 PM): I can't make the words to Scared scan with the tune to Amazing Grace, but I can make the words to Piano Man scan to Wreck... easily. Maybe it's 'cuz I listen to '70s music on a daily basis. :D
flamsterette_x (3:56:09 PM): Hahaha, perhaps so!
aryk29 (4:17:51 PM): about starship captains.
flamsterette_x (4:18:07 PM): And I would be interested in it, because... ???
aryk29 (4:18:19 PM): Beats me. That's just what I'm reading right now.
aryk29 (4:18:28 PM): (It is funny, though)
flamsterette_x (4:18:31 PM): Heh.. all right.
aryk29 (4:18:36 PM): :D
flamsterette_x (4:44:52 PM): Sorry... was multi-tasking, then took a shower just now.
aryk29 (4:46:07 PM): That's okay... I'm now in the middle of reading a guilty pleasures song thread. (it's easier to just include the link in case it is of interest). :)
flamsterette_x (4:46:28 PM): Heh.. no worries about including the link. :)
aryk29 (4:47:10 PM): The OP says Sailing is a guilty pleasure, but to me, it's just a great song.
flamsterette_x (4:47:26 PM): Sailing?
aryk29 (4:47:37 PM): By Christopher Cross.
aryk29 (4:47:48 PM): Yep, Sailing, of all songs.
flamsterette_x (4:48:12 PM): I see.
aryk29 (4:58:31 PM): Hehe, I posted my guilty pleasure songs.
flamsterette_x (4:59:54 PM): Never heard the Christopher Cross song.
aryk29 (5:00:30 PM): Lemme see if Tower Records has a sound clip...
aryk29 (5:02:37 PM): It does.
flamsterette_x (5:05:14 PM): As I thought, never heard it.
aryk29 (5:05:25 PM): ic
flamsterette_x (5:14:08 PM): Oh well..
aryk29 (5:14:51 PM): It is a nice song though, no?
flamsterette_x (5:15:35 PM): Yeah, it's not too bad.

November 4

flamsterette_x (10:32:50 PM): make up your mind :P
aryk29 (10:33:22 PM): :D Ready for the doozies.
flamsterette_x (10:36:40 PM): um.. hang on.. gotta figure out what you're talking about first ;)
aryk29 (10:37:06 PM): Umm... Our Place... uhh.... (c'mon, brain)... Honorary blogging degree!
