ICQ and its illegal operations

tried installing ICQ again on Spoz's email suggestion..
(last time I tried to install the thing.. it crashed, or performed an illegal operation every time I sent a message -- NOT GOOD)
to my great relief, things appear to work now..
I also removed MSN while I was at it..
not sure there's much chance I'll get IE 5 on this machine..
(no, I am *not* living in the Stone Age.. nor am I a Luddite)
besides, it refuses to work anymore without upgrading..
believe me, I'd like to upgrade!
ah well, it'll be all good eventually.. I can only hope! ;)
