Three pregnant ladies at a baby shower is amusing!

I went to my friend Lauren's baby shower tonight... it was a lot of fun! Sarah, Karen C., Karen K., Helen K., Helen C., Winnie, Jenny, Connie, Sophia, Frances, Elaine, Lesley, Irene, Lily, Maxine, Anita, Esther, Stella, Michelle, Lauren, and I were there at Karen C.'s townhouse that she bought a year ago. This is what we had to do for the games: sniff various bottles of baby food in order to figure out what they were, unscramble baby-related words, put dimes between our legs and drop them in a jar, and guess the circumference of Lauren's belly at its widest point.

There was also a game going on all night where we started out with three mini-clothespins. We got one taken away if we said "baby," "due date," or "labor"... of course, we could also gain one if we caught anyone else saying those words or part of them. It was interesting to see just how many variations we could come up with: "kid," "when the sprog will sprout" (mine!), "infant," "newborn," "expecting," etc. Since we were doing so well, Helen K. added another dimension to it: if we crossed ANYTHING, we got a pin taken away. Some people were quick to catch others... I'm just surprised I only had one removed, since I apparently "got away" with at least five infractions. (Frances and Stella got nine pins each, and Connie got seven) It's so hard to sit like a man, and not cross your legs or arms!

I talked to a bunch of people there... Sarah said that she'd be having a birthday get-together next Sunday after the Super Bowl, so she'd email me about that. If I had known I was going to see her tonight, I would not have given her and Hannah's birthday cards to Daniel! (Daniel would then give them to Vernon, who would then pass them on to his wife and sister-in-law) Then again, considering how Daniel literally dropped his wife Michelle off in the townhouse complex parking lot with instructions to find her own ride home (which she luckily did)... I swear we won't ever understand men! Oh well... at least Karen C. will see her ex Jason soon, so she can give him HIS birthday card... they fortunately get along well now!

There were three pregnant ladies there: Lauren, Helen C., and Winnie. That was kinda funny; we can see Winnie's tummy now, while it's fairly obvious that Lauren and Helen C. are pregnant. Lily told me that she has an addiction to knitting now... you know it's bad when you're thinking of going home early from a Saturday night party just so you can knit, and also when you're knitting even if you have to get up in five hours or so! Lauren will have lots of help with her baby; her husband Warren will try to help when he's home from work after his month off, his parents are upstairs, and their friends will also assist. They've done some preparation for the baby (as have Helen and Joe), and the gifts definitely help in that regard!

We also ate a LOT of food: cheese and broccoli squares, chocolate fondue, Rice Krispie squares, brownies, Sarah's mango cake, quiche, honeydew, strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple slices, graham crackers, grapes, Jolly Rancher fruit chews, etc. Everyone also got a pretty fridge magnet that Karen C. made herself for a souvenir. (a few others and I got the house tour since it was our first time there... it's a very nice place with great decor!) It was a very fun time indeed, even if 8 PM was a late start to a baby shower! I appreciate time with friends I've not seen in a while. :D
