Beaver tails and bubble tea tally

Right now, I'm at Shannon's. Earlier, I went to Lonsdale Quay and actually did what I set out to do: had beaver tails (for the first time) and bubble tea, and bought some more "Death Rain" habanero pepper chips. (the chips are super-spicy, but good)

Beaver tails are Canada's national treat. They're made from whole wheat flour and yeast, then hand-stretched to resemble the tail of Canada's national animal, and finished with various toppings. They were first served in Ottawa in 1978, and they're now available in fun locations coast to coast.

There's a shop at Lonsdale Quay that sells beaver tails; it's called Beavertails Pastry. I've always noticed it around, but just never tried any. Today, I decided to try them out for the heck of it. This is what the shop has available:

Sweet Beaver Tails

Classic (cinnamon and sugar)
Killaloe Sunrise - "Classic" (with lemon)
Apple Cinnamon
Chocolate Hazelnut
Maple Leaf
Raspberry

Savory Beaver Tails

Garlic Butter and Cheese
Cream Cheese and Green Onion
Canadian Bacon and Cheddar
B.C. Tail (cream cheese and smoked salmon)

I had the B.C. Tail, and they're not too bad at all. :) Watched the person make it; seems they fry the whole wheat flour and yeast in batter, then put the toppings on when it's done. Pretty good stuff.
