Notepads, Rob Fillo, oozing soda, Kelly, Jon, and Rosh Hashanah

Bingo of the night:

NOTEPADS (98 points) - against Janelle I.

High-scoring words of the night:

FILLO (288 points) - against Marcelle R. [4W, two 3W]
CARDOON (244 points) - against Betty W. [5W, 4W, hook off DAGOES to make DO / AN]
QI (122 points) - against Caryn S. [4L on Q used twice, hook off TINNIER to make QI / IN]
OOZE (103 points) - against Irene O. [2W, 3W, hook off MAY to make YO]
SOJA (181 points) - against Susan S. [3W, 5L on J, hook off BARK for a plural] {a good deficit-erasing word!}

Discovered that both Kelly L. and Jon H. (whose birthday is tomorrow) have reactivated their Facebook accounts, so that's fine.

Trivia fact for Thursday, Sept. 9: Why do some Jews empty their pockets and toss the contents into a river or stream on the first day of Rosh Hashanah, the beginning of the Jewish New Year? It's a ritual known as tashlikh, which means "casting off" in Hebrew. Done while reciting prayers, it symbolizes the tossing away and washing away of sins.
