Cool coincidences, fireworks, and twisted card games

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NINA.. I hope you have a great one today! :) Yazmine and I wonder where you went.. perhaps to India to find a husband. We trust you're happy, whatever it is you're doing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOROTHY.. I hope you have a rocking one today! :) I remember when you were a baby.. time passes by so quickly. Definitely wish you happiness and all of that.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WOLFIE.. I hope you have a really rocking one today! :) It's been neat getting to know you.

A very special mention has to go to the Debly-Martin children of Nova Scotia. Imagine this: five siblings all born on the same day.. not quintuplets, but a set of twins (Telina and Irisa) and a set of triplets (Autumn, Kyla, and Zev) born on the twins' third birthday in 2000. What are the odds? Here's a cite for you! (just click on the "Multiple Multiples" tab at left)

this is back in action after a hiatus..
aren't you happy? ;)

HILARIOUS QUOTE OF THE WEEK (1)

"Do they have strawberry here?" -- Eunice at Bubble World, sizing up the available flavors. (Saturday, Aug. 9) [as Nathan said, "that's like asking a Chinese restaurant if they serve tea!"]

I went to the fireworks grand finale last night..
Eunice rocks coz she found a close parking spot..
it was me, Sean Adela, Brian, Amy, a couple of Amy's friends, Jon, Edwin, Eunice, and Nathan..
China won over Canada and the Czech Republic..
(go, China power! my brother had heard that about a third of Canada's fireworks failed to go off last Saturday because they were blanks or something.. that may be why they didn't win like they did last year)

Eunice taught us this really twisted card game..
it's supposed to determine who you'll be with forever..
she and her friends used to play it back in high school..
pick one person you dislike (the suit of clubs) / one person you like as a friend (the suit of spades) / one person you REALLY LIKE (if you know what I mean.. the suit of diamonds) / one person you truly love (the suit of hearts)..
the true love can be a celebrity, and you're also allowed one unnamed mystery person..
we also set up the rule that the person you like as a friend has to be someone we all knew..
(more laughs or grossness that way, depending)

then you ask a bunch of questions that can be answered only by the people's names.. (any sort of queries)
("Who's the best kisser?" "Who really loves me?" etc.)
the other person will flip cards onto the queens / kings..
that is, until it matches the first card's suit..
a match means that the person is your answer..

after you run out of cards, you close your eyes..
the other person mixes up the four piles..
you eliminate two of them, then the fun begins..
each pile's cards are sorted according to suit..
the suits determine the amount of certain elements in your future relationship with the four people you picked at the start..

hearts represent the amount of true love..
spades represent the amount of hate..
clubs represent the amount of *ahem* (sex)..
diamonds represent the amount of money..

once two piles are sorted in this way..
(gotta have something to compare the first to)
one must be eliminated, and the others get sorted in turn..
after all the sorting, you see who was eliminated first..
THEN you see who you'll be with for all eternity..

that can be quite a twisted hilarious game..
Nathan was reluctant to play at first..
but after he ended up with his true love..
(Zhang Ziyi of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon)
he was all gung-ho and raving about it!
(poor Eunice and I ended up with our archenemies.. and were very close to picking people we actually liked or more!)
we're not sure if my brother would play it..
perhaps at some other time.. (my party, maybe?)

after the fireworks, we were all rebels..
meaning we went up an alley to escape the crunch..
then we went against traffic flow on Davie St.
when we were in the car travelling down the road..
some random girl walked by and blew Nathan a kiss..
"Yeah, I just want you to know I'm blowing you a kiss!"
that was pretty amusing and unexpected..
we saw 100+ people waiting for the bus at a stop..
"OH MAN, THAT'S CRAZY.. HOLY COW.."

later, we all went for bubble tea at Bubble World..
we were going to play that twisted game..
but Nathan got Eunice addicted to Photo Hunt..
(she was even addicted to looking at the game previews!)
definitely a cool night out with friends for sure!
