Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge walkthrough

Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge walkthrough... editing this was no easy task because of the person's poor English and spacebar issues! Two spaces in between words, no "the" or "a" in 29348732 places where it was needed, poor structure / capitalization... aiya!

In Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, you play the role of Guybrush Threepwood. In the months since he defeated the ghost Pirate LeChuck and rescued his one true love - Governor Elaine Marley - in The Secret of Monkey Island, Guybrush has made his way to Scabb Island in search of the biggest treasure of them all: Big Whoop. Here's where you come in. You direct the actions of Guybrush in his search for adventure, treasure, and the validation of his peers. Guybrush faces many obstacles in his path, not the least of which is the specter of LeChuck's revenge.

This game has two game modes:
1. MONKEY 2 LITE (EASY MODE): "I'VE NEVER PLAYED AN ADVENTURE GAME BEFORE. I'M SCARED."
2. MONKEY ISLAND 2 (HARD MODE): "I WANT IT ALL! ALL THE PUZZLES! ALL THE WORK!"


OPENING SCENE
-------------

ELAINE: Well, well, well. Guybrush Threepwood. You do turn up in the strangest places.
GUYBRUSH: Err... Hi, Elaine. Do you think you could help me out?
ELAINE: How did you get into this mess?
GUYBRUSH: It's kind of a long story.
ELAINE: That's OK, I've got time.
GUYBRUSH: *sigh* Well, it all started on Scabb Island. Some of my admiring fans had pressured me into telling my LeChuck evaporating story once again...

DEEP IN THE CARIBBEAN SCABB ISLAND

GUYBRUSH: So I bust into the church and say, "Now you're in for it, you bilious bag of barnacle bait!" ... and then LeChuck cries, "Guybrush! Have mercy! I can't take it anymore!"
BART: I think I know how he must have felt.
FINK: Yeah, if I hear this story one more time, I'm gonna be crying myself.
BART: Don't you have any NEW stories?
GUYBRUSH: Well, actually, that's why I'm here on Scabb Island. I'm on a whole new adventure.
FINK: Growing a mustache?
BART: No. Bigger than that.
FINK: A beard?!?
GUYBRUSH: No, I'm in search of treasure. The biggest treasure of them all. A treasure so valuable and so well hidden, that it haunts the dreams of every pirate on the seas.
FINK: You mean...
BART & FINK: Big Whoop?
GUYBRUSH: None other.
BART: Then, why'd you come here? There's no treasure on Scabb Island!
GUYBRUSH: Well, I didn't know that before! Now I'm trying to charter a ship and look someplace else. When I return, I'll have riches galore, and a whole new story.
BART: Or you'll have died trying.
FINK: Either way, we won't have to hear about LeChuck anymore.

GUYBRUSH: Ha! Those guys wouldn't know a good story even if they paid fifty bucks for it. When I find Big Whoop, I'll become legend among pirates for generations to come. If I could only charter a ship and get off this stinking island...

PART I: THE LARGO EMBARGO
================================================================================

You start in front of the bridge. Pick up the sign. You will receive a shovel. Walk to the bridge, and you will see a monkey wearing green pants. He's Largo LaGrande. Choose anything (twice). That monkey robbed you of all your treasure. Walk east until you see a door. Inside the room, take the nails and then take the hammer. Talk to the woodsmith. Choose all. Go out and walk west and enter another door. Inside this room, talk to the cartographer (Wally B. Feed). Choose all. Pick up the pile of paper. Now, wait until the cartographer drops his monocle. When he does, take the monocle (It's not useful for the easy mode... but hey, it's funny) or you can give it back to Wally. After that, go out.

Walk to the hatch. Talk to the barkeeper. Choose 1. Largo comes and the monkey will spit into the wall (Eeew, gross). When he's gone, use the paper with the spit dripping down the wall. You will get spit on paper. Talk to the barkeeper. Choose all. You will be hired as a chef. You will receive 420 pieces o' eight as your salary. Inside the kitchen, pick up the knife on the table. Use the window to get out. Now, if you want to go back to the kitchen, just use the window.

Walk to the big ship in the west. Talk to the innkeeper. Choose all. Use the knife with the rope. The alligator is running, and the innkeeper tries to catch the alligator. But the alligator is faster than the innkeeper, so the innkeeper fails to catch the alligator. Bad Guybrush. Look at the bowl. Pick up the Cheese Squigglies. Walk to the door and open it. Pick up the clean white folded shirt. Then pick up the toupee. Go out to the map.

Go to the swamp. Use the coffin. Row to the east until you enter the skeleton head. Walk east. You will have a conversation with the voodoo lady. Choose all. You will learn that you will need four ingredients to make Largo's voodoo doll, which is: something of the thread (Largo's spit), something of the head (Largo's toupee), something of the body (Largo's clean white shirt), and something of the dead (Largo's grandpa's bones). You will receive the voodoo shopping list. Go back to the map.

Go to the Cemetery. Walk to the graves. Use the shovel on a grave. You will receive a bone. Now, go back to the voodoo lady. Talk to her and choose the first option. Choose all. You will receive the voodoo doll and pins. Go back to Woodtick and go to the hotel. Enter Largo's room. Quickly use the pins in the voodoo doll. You will automatically go back to the swamp and talk to the voodoo lady. Choose all. You will receive Big Whoop: Unclaimed Bonanza or Myth? Go back to the map.

Go to the Peninsula. Enter the ship and talk to Captain Dread. Talk to him and choose the first option.

PART II: FOUR MAP PIECES

CUT SCENE

Deep in the Caribbean, hidden by an endless storm, lies LeChuck's fortress...

LARGO: So... when are we going to resurrect the old bloated fool?

LeChuck then will enter the room.

LARGO: Oops...
LECHUCK: I'll ignore that comment just this one time, Largo... only because they tell me you've found Guybrush Threekwood.
LARGO: It's 'Threepwood' ... and I've found him on Scabb Island.
LECHUCK: Very good. No one gets the upper hand on LeChuck without getting what he deserves. I want Guybrush brought to me, and I want him brought alive. I am entrusting this to you. Do not fail me.
LARGO: Never, your voodoo lordship.
LECHUCK: Aye... Guybrush Threepwood is finished. I need you to start building me a very special doll.
VOODOO PRIEST: Very well, my lord.


You start at Captain Dread's ship. Pick up the parrot chow. Walk to the door and talk to Captain Dread. You will see a map containing 3 islands: Scabb Island, Phatt Island, and Booty Island. First, go to Phatt Island.

Once there, you will get arrested by a guard. Choose any option... it'll have the same result (you will end up in prison). Try different answers for fun. Inside the cell, pick up the rock-hard mattress. You will see a stick, so pick that up. Use the stick with the bone. Pick up the bone. Use the bone with Walt. Pick up the small key. Use the small key in the cell door. Pick up the manila envelope. Open the manila envelope, and you will receive all your previous items. Get out of the cell.

Walk to the alley. Talk to the dealer. Choose the first option. Choose anything. You will ALWAYS win. Choose the invitation to Governor Marley's party as the prize. Go out to the map and go to the waterfall. Enter the newly discovered gaping hole. Walk west three times. Go to the cottage. Enter the house and open the trap door. Take the map piece. You will receive your first map piece. Go out. Go back to Dread's ship and go to Booty Island.


CUT SCENE
---------

DEEP INSIDE LECHUCK'S FORTRESS...

LARGO: Ah... LeChuck, sir... I regret to report that Guybrush has found one of the map pieces to Big Whoop.
LECHUCK: You will regret it a lot more if he finds another. Stop him at any cost.. But remember... I want him alive.
LARGO: Yes, sir.

Walk to the house on the west. Pick up the map piece. Choose the first option. You will receive the second map piece. Go out and enter the costume shop. Give the invitation to the shopkeeper. Pick up the dress. Go out and enter Stan's shop. Choose the first option. When he's inside the coffin, use the hammer on the nails. You will get a clean, white hankie. Take the crypt key. Use the hammer on the cash register. Too bad... it's empty. Go back to Dread's ship.


CUT SCENE
---------

ONCE AGAIN...

LARGO : Ah.... LeChuck, sir.... I just wanted to report that we have finished building the new torture chamber you requested.
LECHUCK: Very good. Do you have anything else to report?
LARGO: Ah... No... Well... There is one other small little thing.
LECHUCK: I assume this has to do with Guybrush's capture?
LARGO: Well... Sort of...
LECHUCK: You've allowed him to find the second map piece, haven't you!! YOU FOOL! You are to ready your ship and sail after him yerself! FIND HIM OR DIE!


Now go to Booty Island. Go to the map and go to the small structure. Choose all. Walk to the mansion. Open the door and pick up the map. Go out. Guybrush will disembark, and the guard will take you upstairs to meet Elaine. Choose the first option until Elaine throws the map piece out. Go out from the mansion and pick up the map piece. Go back to Dread's ship.


CUT SCENE
---------

Deep within LeChuck's fortress, blah blah blah...

LECHUCK: Largo!
LARGO: Er... You called for me?
LECHUCK: Is it true that Guybrush Threepwood has found the third piece of the map to Big Whoop?
LARGO: Ah... Yes sir... I was about...
LECHUCK: Why did you not come and tell me yerself?
LARGO: Well... I was trying to confirm that he really...
LECHUCK: Largo... You have been my trusted henchman for many years. But I won't hesitate to drag your entrails from behind my ship if you do not bring me Guybrush before he finds that treasure!

Go to the cemetery and use the crypt key to open the crypt. Inside the crypt, open the coffin. Pick up the map piece. Now go back to the map and go back to Woodtick. Go to Wally and give the monocle to Wally. After that, give the map piece to him. Go back to the map.


CUT SCENE

Yawn...

LARGO: LeChuck, sir... I've got good news and I've got bad news. The bad news is that Guybrush has found the last piece of the map. Ah... The good news is that I've got a plan that can't fail. Ah... You see... He must take the map to a cartographer to have it deciphered. I'll head him off before he gets there.
LECHUCK: If your plan fails...
LARGO: It will not, your voodoo lordship.


Go back to the voodoo lady. Choose the first option. You will receive the Juju Bag. Go back to Wally, and you will find out that LeChuck has abducted Wally. Go back to the swamp and open the crate. Use the crate.

PART III: LECHUCK'S FORTRESS

CUT SCENE
---------

In the small crate of voodoo supplies that will be his home for the next five days and nights, Guybrush is forced to eat bat lungs and eel bladders to stay alive. Eventually, Guybrush and the rest of the slithering cargo are delivered to the very doorstep of the Caribbean's most fearsome villain, living or dead: The Ghost Pirate LeChuck!

LARGO: Ah... LeChuck's crate of voodoo supplies.
HANDYMAN 1: You know, we usually don't deliver out this far...
LARGO: You guys bucking for a tip?
HANDYMAN 2: Well, we figured since...
LARGO: Well, you figured wrong. LeChuck don't tip nobody!
HANDYMAN 1: Gee..
HANDYMAN 2: What a butt.

Walk to the passage. Enter the back tunnel. Follow the path and you will arrive at the huge door. Open the huge door. Walk to the doggie door. Pick up the voodoo key to the jail. You will get trapped by LeChuck. Stupid Guybrush. After LeChuck's gone, talk to Wally and choose the third option. Use the matches.

PART IV: DINKY ISLAND
================================================================================

HOURS LATER...

Pick up the bottle. Pick up the crowbar. Use the crowbar with the barrel. You will receive three crackers. Talk to Herman Toothrot. Choose all. Give the cracker to the parrot. It will give you a clue. Now enter the jungle. Walk northeast. Pick up the rope. Use the crowbar with the box. Pick up the dynamite. Walk east. Walk northeast. You will see a big dinosaur. Give the cracker to the parrot. Head north from the dinosaur to the pile of rocks. Head north. Give the cracker to the parrot. Now, walk east. Use the shovel on Big X. Use the matches with the dynamite. Use the lit dynamite with the hole in the ground. Use the rope with the crowbar. Use the crowbar 'n' rope with the twisted metal rods.

Push the light switch, and you will see LeChuck. Now, you must make a voodoo doll of LeChuck. First, go to the room of crates. Inside that room... take the dolls, the root beer, and the balloon. Wait until LeChuck comes and use the root beer on him. It does nothing, though. Now go to the room with the remains. Pick up Dad's remains. Then open the trash can and pick up the gloves. Open the drawer and take the hypodermic syringe. Now go to the room with a soda machine. Use the balloon with the helium tank. Use the surgical gloves with the helium tank. Then use the coin return on the soda machine. A coin will drop to the ground. Wait until LeChuck comes. When he tries to take the coin, quickly pick up his underwear. Then go somewhere and wait until LeChuck comes... quickly give the clean white hankies to LeChuck. Then go to the elevator. Wait for LeChuck. When he comes, pull the lever. Take his beard.

Now since you have all the ingredients, you can make a voodoo doll. Use the generic voodoo Kewpie doll with the Juju Bag. Use the skull with the Juju Bag. Use the underwear with the Juju Bag. Use the used hankie with the Juju Bag. Use the crispy beard bits on the Juju Bag. Now go back downstairs and wait for LeChuck. When he comes, use the hypodermic syringe with the generic voodoo Kewpie doll. He will run away. Follow him. Choose anything, as the outcome will be the same.

Hard Mode:

Go to the map and go to the beach. It's right of the Woodtick. In there, pick up a stick (near the tree). Go back to the map and choose Cemetery. Go to the Cemetery. Walk to the graves. Use the shovel on the grave. You will receive a bone. Go back to the Woodtick.

Walk to the hatch. Talk to the barkeeper. Choose 1. Largo comes, and the monkey will spit into the wall (Eeew, gross). When he's gone, use the paper with the spit dripping down the wall. You will get spit on paper. Go out and walk to the window to get to the kitchen. There, pick up a knife. Go back out through the window.

Walk to the ship left of Wally's place. Pick up a bucket in the lower left corner. Choose the first option and you will get the bucket. Go back to the street. Now it's time to go to the swamp. In the swamp, use the bucket with the swamp and you will get the bucket o' mud. Use the coffin and row to the right. Enter the shack. You will arrive at the Voodoo Lady's Place: The International House of Mojo. Pick up a string. It's above the skull on the table. Walk east. You will have a conversation with the voodoo lady. Choose all. You will learn that you will need four ingredients to make Largo's voodoo doll, which are: something of the thread (Largo's spit), something of the head (Largo's toupee), something of the body (Largo's Bra) and something of the dead (Largo's grandpa's bones). You will receive a voodoo shopping list. Go back to the map.

Go to the big ship in the west. Talk to the innkeeper. Choose all. Use the knife with the rope. The alligator is running, and the innkeeper tries to catch the alligator. But the alligator is faster than the innkeeper, so the innkeeper fails to catch the alligator. Bad Guybrush. Look at the bowl. Pick up the Cheese Squigglies. Walk to the door and open it. Pick up the toupee. Then use the bucket o' mud with the door. Walk to the dressing screen. Largo will come in and get a bucket full of mud to the head. Go back out.

Go back to the place where you got the bucket. You will see Largo there talking with the Laundry Guy. After the conversation, check the box near the rat. Open the box. Use the stick with the box. Then use the stick with the string. Use the cheese squigglies with the box. Now walk away from the box until the rat comes to the box and eats the cheese. As soon as the rat eats the cheese, quickly pull the string to trap the rat. Open the box, pick up the captured rat, and go back to the street.

Enter Largo's Room again. Close the door and pick up the laundry claim ticket on the back of the door. Go back to the street and head to the Laundry Guy. Give the laundry claim ticket to the laundry guy, and you will receive the Pearly-White Bra. Go back to the street and walk to the window.

In the kitchen, use the captured rat with the vichyssoise and go back to the window again. Walk to the hatch and talk to the barkeeper. Choose the first option twice: you will get the job and receive 420 pieces o' eight. Go back out to the map and choose the swamp.

Enter The International House of Mojo. Give all the ingredients to the Voodoo Lady. You will receive the voodoo doll and pins. Go back to Woodtick and go to the hotel. Enter Largo's room. Quickly use the pins in the voodoo doll. You will automatically go back to the swamp and talk to the voodoo lady. Choose all. You will receive Big Whoop: Unclaimed Bonanza or Myth? Go back to the map.

Go to the Peninsula. Enter the ship and talk to Captain Dread. Talk to him and choose the first option. Give the monocle to Captain Dread. Get ready to set sail.

You start at Captain Dread's Ship. Pick up the parrot chow. Walk to the door and talk to Captain Dread. You will see a map containing 3 islands: Scabb Island, Phatt Island, and Booty Island. First, go to Booty Island.

Go to the shop and open the door. Pick up the well-polished old saw. Choose the first option. He will sell it for 25 pieces o' eight. Pick the sign... choose the first option, and he'll sell the sign for 5 pieces o' eight. Pick up the Ship's Horn... choose the first option, and he'll sell the horn for 40 pieces o' eight. Then, use the parrot chow with the hook. Pick up the mirror... choose the first option, and he'll sell the mirror for 15 pieces o' eight. Your money should be 315 pieces o' eight now. You can buy pirate hats for 15 pieces o' eight just for fun. Go out and walk to the right to meet a woman in a big hat. Talk to her and choose the second and last options. You get a leaflet from her. Go back to Dread's ship and go to Phatt Island.

Once there, you will get arrested by a guard. Choose any option... it'll have the same result (you will end up in prison). Try different answers for fun. Inside the cell, pick up the rock-hard mattress. You will see a stick, so pick that up. Use the stick with the bone. Pick up the bone. Use the bone with Walt. Pick up the small key. Use the small key in the cell door. Pick up the manila envelope. Open the manila envelope, and you will receive all your previous items. Pick up the Gorilla Envelope, which contains a banana and an organ. Get out of the cell. Outside, use the leaflet with the poster.

Go to the library. Open the model lighthouse. Pick up the lighthouse lens. Look at the catalog. Open C-D. Find Great Shipwrecks of Our Century from the Lime-Life Disaster Stories. Choose the third option. Open P-Q-R. Find Recipes: Voodoo "The
Joy of Hex" 101 Essential Voodoo Recipes
. Choose the third option. Now you must pick the last book. Choose whatever you want, like Both Hands Empty: The Herman Toothrot Story on the A-B shelf. Choose the third option. Now talk to the librarian. Choose the first option (twice). Choose anything and ask her about the three books you picked earlier. After you get all your books, go out.

Walk to the alley. You will see a little man. Watch him. Then follow him into another alley. Watch an event. After that, open the slot on the door. Choose the first option. How to do this? The easy thing is just to watch his hand. Ignore his word. So if he says "If this is five and his hand shows three, so the next answer will be three," try this since it's random. You must do this three times. After you give him the correct answer three times, he will give you the winning number. Write this down and then go back to the first alley (the dealer).

Talk to the dealer. Choose the first option. Choose the winning number that you received. After you win, choose the second option for the prize. You get an invitation to Governor Marley's Mardi Gras Party. Walk to the wharf and to the map: choose Mansion.

Open the gate, walk to the mansion. Open the door and go inside. Talk to the guard. Choose anything. Walk upstairs. Use your free book for Famous Pirate Quotations. Go out and go to the map and choose the wharf. Go to the jail. Pick up the manila envelope. Open the manila envelope and you got the bottle o'near-grog. Use the small key in the cell door. Go back to Dread's ship. Choose Scabb Island.

Go to the hatch. Use the banana with the metronome. Pick up Jojo. Talk to the barkeeper. Choose the first option five times, the third option one time, and then the second option. Use the yellow drink with the blue drink. You will get a green drink. Go to the upper deck and head to the laundry guy. Use the well-polished old saw on the peg leg. Go back and enter the woodsmith's place. Pick up the hammer. Pick up the nails. Go out. Go back to Dread's Ship and head to Booty Island. Enter the Costume Shop and give the invitation to the shopkeeper. You get a dress. Go out and enter Stan's place.

Choose the first option and quickly use the hammer on the nails. You get a clean white hankie from Stan. Pick up the Crypt Key. Use the hammer on the cash register. Use the bell for fun. Go out and walk to the right. You're ready for the spitting contest.

Use the Ship's Horn and pick up the flag (you'll get 3 flags). Talk to the spitmaster. Choose anything. Use the crazy straw with the green drink. Talk to the spitmaster again. Write the coordinates down and talk to Captain Kate. Choose the third, second, first options. Choose the coordinates that you have written and enter those. Choose the second option. Swim to Monkey Head and pick up the monkey head. Use the anchor to go back up. Go back to the shop. Give the monkey head to the antique dealer. You get the first map. Back to the map and go to the small structure. Choose the first option three times.

Go to the mansion. Open the door and enter the mansion. Pick up the map and go outside. You end up in Elaine's room. You have to flirt with her... so choose options until she throws away the map. The sequence: the second, first, second, and first options. Go back upstairs again and pick up the oar. Go out and try to pick up the map. Watch the map fall into the cliff. Back to the mansion and pick up the dog. Walk to the side of the house. Use the garbage can. When the chef comes, go around the mansion and go back to the kitchen to pick up the fish. Go out and back to the map. Now choose the Big Tree. Use the oar with the hole. Walk to the oar. You will fall and have a spooky dream. Go out and pick up the telescope on the upper house. Go back to Dread's Ship, and go to Phatt Island.

Deep within LeChuck's fortress, blah blah blah...

LECHUCK: Largo!

Eventually, Guybrush and the rest of the slithering cargo are delivered to the very doorstep of the Caribbean's most fearsome villain, living or dead: The Ghost Pirate LeChuck!

LARGO: Ah... LeChuck's crate of voodoo supplies.
HANDYMAN 1: You know, we usually don't deliver out this far...
LARGO: You guys bucking for a tip?
HANDYMAN 2: Well, we figured since...
LARGO: Well, you figured wrong. LeChuck don't tip nobody!
HANDYMAN 1: Gee..
HANDYMAN 2: What a butt.

Walk to the passage. Enter the right back tunnel. Here are my song lyrics:

Pick up the bottle. Use the bottle with the rock. Pick up the Martini Glass. Use the Martini Glass with the Ocean. Use the glass o' water with the still, and get a glass o' distilled water. Pick up the crowbar. Open the Barrel. You will receive one cracker. Give the cracker to the Parrot. Talk to Herman Toothrot. Choose all. He will give you a clue. Now enter the jungle. Walk west, then Northwest. Use the broken bottle with the bag. Pick up the box. Use the glass o' water with the box of cracker mix. You get another two crackers.

Walk east three times. Pick up the rope. Use the crowbar with the box. Pick up the dynamite. Walk east. Walk northeast. You will see a big dinosaur. Give the cracker to the parrot. Head north from the dinosaur to the pile of rocks. Head north. Give the cracker to the parrot. Now, walk east. Use the shovel on the Big X. Use the matches with the dynamite. Use the lit dynamite with the hole in the ground. Use the rope with the crowbar. Use the crowbar 'n' rope with the twisted metal rods.


***OOPS, IT'S DARK***

Push the light switch, and you will see LeChuck. Now, you must make a voodoo doll of LeChuck. First, go to the room of crates. Inside that room... take the dolls, the root beer, and the balloon. Use the used hankie with the Juju Bag. Use the crispy beard bits on the Juju Bag. Now go back downstairs and wait for LeChuck. When he comes, use the hypodermic syringe with the generic voodoo Kewpie doll. He will run away. Follow him. Choose anything, as the outcome will be the same.
